Hi and good morning,
did you replace the display connector socket? I also have to do this but I don't have an idea how to do. Do you have some hints for me. It would be great.
Thanks in advance.
I must do this as well!!!
A friend of mine told me that if the connector is not fully broken you could add some paper tape on the back side of the flex cable so it would make contact and fit tightly, that worked for him.
I am waiting for replacement LCD and would personally test this.
Replacing the socket on the MB is not imposible but requires soldering station.
HD2 Motherboard is not easy to get
Bro i am in Shenzhen China ,just want to tell you that it`s not easy to get the motherboard as it can not be tested , No one know if it work or not before sell
it`s better to has it fixed in the repair shop While LCD is easier to get

USB Port Fix

Any one know of a company that can fix the USB port on a HTC Raider in Canada. Rogers wants to charge me $250 to fix it.

You could probably buy two new Raiders for $250! Replacement might be the best bet, as you can likely find one on Kijiji for $100 or so. If you have a local cell repair joint, give them a call, and see if they offer the replacement. It might be tricky since the USB on the Raider (as other HTC phones) is actually a special type of HDMI jack that also has USB (known as MHL).
If you're adventurous, you might track down a broken Raider and attempt a part swap yourself. I've not seen the inside of the unit, so I can't say how easy or hard that would be at any skill level...
Hope you get it fixed up!
The part is on eBay you can always try to do it yourself should be a few small solder points

A friend needed this. We ordered one off ebay ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-USB-Pow...328529?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item27c422a1d1 ) and although it required opening the phone up and voiding the warranty, it required no soldering. He doesn't open electronics up very often, and said it wasn't very hard to do.
i was babbling abt this in a thread in the dev forum, thot i'd best do it also here in the proper forum for it:
i changed the USB port in my Raider, was very simple. Six little screws, two different lengths so keep track of them. One screw also holds down the teeny cover under which is where the tiny connector resides that connects the port to the fone circuit board. Once the fone is back together that's where you make the final connection between port and fone.
Slip off the battery cover, undo the six screws, take off that tiny little cover. Carefully work off the entire back housing. There's no front housing, just the screen glass and the fone circuitry bundled together.
Micro-USB port and ribbon connector is fastened to the housing with two more of those little screws. Change out the port with the new one. New part may not be an exact duplicate of the old part: that's ok. Reassemble the fone. Under that hole left by the tiny cover, press home the miniscule plug that connects up the port to the fone.
Put back the tiny cover, fasten back all the screws, and you're done. Port cost me $9 USD plus shipping on ebay.

Hey, dude, I know this thread is a little old, but can you PM me the link to where you bought your USB port? I think I need to replace my port (issues connecting to PC and charging requires wire wiggling), but I've read about certain ports not working with data transfer and only charging, and I don't want to make that kind of mistake.

Parting out Nexus 7

Hey guys, I'm considering parting out my nexus 7 because its digitizer is partially broken. I was just wondering if you guys have a need for any of the parts, and what you would pay for them. I'm not selling the parts yet, just getting an idea of if its worth my time to do so. Thanks!
I'll take the back cover for $10 shipped to Miami.

I'll buy the LCD flex cable (photo below). I'll offer $10 incl mailing it to St Louis.
It's the little short cable that pops off the main board - it's located in a small gap between the battery and the main board.
You have to be very careful with this cable as the LCD end is damaged very easily. Do not pull on it at all.
To remove it, you have to
-remove the battery,
-remove all the small screws holding in the sub chassis - unscrew the speaker
-pop off the upper connector - it just pops straight up - do not pull on the cable though
-remove the digitizer cables - flip up the white cable clamps at the rear of the 2 connectors
-remove the subchassis - you'll have to remove the copper heatsink that is taped to the back of the LCD
- flip up the black cable clamp on the rear of the LCD flex connector and carefully slide the connector straight out without bending it up at all.
Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies. Ill let you guys know it I'm going to sell the parts.

Has anyone used a magnetic usb cable with there m8?

Hey everyone, I have just seen these usb adaptors that clip into your usb port. Then magnetically connect to a USB cable for data/charging. Anyone using one? Would you recommend?
Here is an example
WSKEN XCable Magnetic USB Cable
https://www.amazon.co.uk/WSKEN-XCable-Performance-Compatible-Smartphones-Silver/dp/B00XJQHBOA
Interesting. I didn't know those were available. I wonder how well they'd work with the M8...
Looks like its a standard friction fit in the USB port, but you leave it inserted all the time. The magnet is only used to connect the cable to the port adapter.
The perk of wireless charging because it doesn't wear out your port, but it should be a lot more efficient and run a lot cooler than using a wireless charging adapter.
I may have to order a few. I wonder if it will play nice with quickcharge2.0... hmm...
Hi, yes, interesting. I can see a big advantage from not pluging/unpluging.
But from the photo it looks like the flat magnetic part will cover the headphone socket.
Anyone tried this (or similar) yet?

I don';t think it will because if you look at the picture you can see the "plug" you put in your phone is the same width as the other end of the cable, I just compared that to a USB cable I have here, seems to be enough room, but not for big 3,5mm plugs I think, I think it would leave like 2mm space
Hi, had a quick look on Amazon and they have similar ones with the plug in part that looks smaller. only thing is some reviews say they fall out too easily. Also needs to be checked with clearance for your own case (if you use one).
If I see one in a shop I would like to give it a try though.
It has really bad reviews. I am looking for a good replacement cable. Don't know why HTC doesn't sell them for the M8 or M9. I have tried different brands Anker and they are junk. Can't find a good cable that doesn't wear out. Any advice would be great.

I ordered these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/152249400751?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT) from ebay and I absolutely love them. If I just touch the nub, that's inserted in the phone, to the end of the cable, it hops on perfectly connected and charging. One of the best (and fewest) things I ever ordered from China. I hate waiting for non-domestic orders, so I try to avoid them as much as possible. Magnetic usb charging is now my favorite new unnecessary luxury in my gadget life.

Is the cable part reversible? It looks like it would be, but there is no info in the listing to indicate definitively if the mag part has to be in a specific orientation.

Yes it is. You can flip the magnet end either way (upside down/right side up) and it will grab and hold pretty firm. Notice it has an even numbered amount of pins (10 - two rows of 5) this is key to a "flip-able" attachment.
Hi,
Well, nearly 8 weeks later and my magnetic cables just arrived. From China to Dubai with Christmas and New Year in between so...
The good news is they are excellent. Very tight to get in the usb port (which is good), very small and fits with my phone cases. As said above, its reversible.
Bought from tim-hpx on ebay.

[solved]Nook won't charge-possible 1$ solution (needs soldering)

I was looking for a solution to this problem and after opening the nook I found out that on the socket one of the contacts is pushed towards inside - I've strighten it and tried to insert the cable but the cable pushed the contact again. So I glued it with some epoxy glue and currently I'm waiting until it cures.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
It turns out that it wasn't the main problem - the nook now is working on power from the charger but it isn't charging the battery. My next try is to solder on a cheap lion charging board from china inside. I couldn't find any 5v test point but there is space for a capacitor near the connector and on the battery connector there are batt+ and batt- test points. This should be enough for the charger.
edit:
Its working!!
i've used a cheap lion charging module from china for 1$. I've cut out the microusb connector, wrapped it in duct tape and fitted it inside the nook.
It's slower than the original charger - only 1A but its working
Hi dkuku,
