Hi everyone...
I have seen some vids on youtube, etc that show what appears to be the standard Galaxy S lockscreen but once swiped or patterned it brings up a numerical password for extra security.
I cant find the option for this in the menu and im wondering id this is an add on or a seperate app altogether?
Does anyone know where I can get this or how I can access this option?
Please advise... Thx.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Can no one here help me or give me advice on this?
not quite sure but could it be they use swipe or pattern + SIM pin?
this is a setting in settings >location and security> change screen lock : choose pin lock method.

My options in settings> Loaction and Security does not have an option for a "pin lock" method only the standard "swype the glass" and the "pattern" lock.
Am I missing something here? I am on Bell in Canada and my phone is an i9000M model... Not sure if that should matter though...
Anyone else?
try pattern lock, I think that is what you mean.

No... Thats not it either. The pattern lock is my lock of choice and I am using it as we speak but once I enter the pattern it just goes directly to the home screen in the phone.
What I am looking for is after I enter the pattern or swype the glass (if that is the lock I am using) for it to take me to a "next screen" that asks me for a password.
I have seen this as mentioned in youtube videos, etc but I have no idea what it is. Is it an app? Is it the SIM Lock screen as someone above mentioned?
Anyone else have any idea?
PS. If it is the SIM Lock thing... I tried to set my SIM lock code and it is asking me for the existing passcode which I do not know. Does anyone know if it is the last 4 digits of your phone number or something?
Please advise...

I'm also curious about that too. I've tried a couple of times and I now know that it's not 0000 or 1234...I still have 3 tries though. btw, I'm also using the i9000m.
Someone here MUST know what I am talking about and how to do it. If its on YOUTUBE then it must be fairly well known...
Anyone?

no idea what you are talking about, only thing that is somewhat similar to what you want, is when you shut the phone of and turn it on and then enter pin code...
-edit-
oh and its a good idea to provide the youtube link you are talking about so we know what the h*** you are talking about.

Here is a weblink. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY2AsoVRywk you will see that he has something that comes up as "PIN-Code" right after his lock screen.
I am not sure if this is the SIM lock code or what it is but that is the idea that Id like to have for mine. Kind of like the iphone "slide to unlock" but without the gay "slide to unlock" part.
EDIT> Upon further inspection... It DOES seem to be the SIM lock screen after all but firstly, How do you activate this? Secondly Why does his screen look so much different than mine? And thirdly, I tried to activate my SIM lock code and it asked me to enter it and I tried but it was wrong and I do not know th original code so I can change it.
Does anyone know how?
The Guy in the video is entering the sim pin, nothing more!

Right... But as I asked in my previous post... HOW do you activate this screen? I have tried and my phone asks me to enter the code already but I do NOT know the existing code and I only have 2 tries left or something like that.
Does anyone know what the ORIGINAL code would be so it can be changed? Is it the last 4 digits of your phone number?
Please advise...

the original code if you havnt changed it, should be with the papers you got for your simcard.
no it is not the last 4 numbers of your phone number.
and you activate it at settings> place and security, configure sim-card lock

The default SIM lock pin code on my Bell i9000m was 1111. After speaking to a Bell rep over the phone for an hour, I found this out ... a whole hour!
He said it's either 1111 or 2222 for these phones.
strange! here in germany one gets a letter with the sim card. this has nothing to do with the phone. you decide with provider you want to use and make a contract. with the letter from that provider you get the sim and the PIN and a PUK.

When I got my phone from Bell, the SIM was already in the phone and there was no supporting documentation from them with the SIM PIN code. I had to call them up to get it. However it is possible to get the PUK codes from the Bell website once you have an online account.
Hello everyone!
What you saw on youtube is the PIN for the simCard. If you want to go thrugh the hassle of having to key that info everytime, go ahead and do the following:
On your SGS, select Settings
On the Sttings page, select Location and Security
Scroll down to third grey bar! THere you'll see SIM card lock
Select the Set up SIM card lock feature and you are done!
Good luck!
Dear all,
I've forgotten my screen lock (pin) password on my note and have tried many times to unlock but still can't, how should i go about it? Anyway to unlock it? If no way, how do i do a reset on my phone?
Thread Moved To Q&A
Please post questions in the Q&A Section. As highlighted in the Sticky
You need Hard reset
go to setting - privacy - reset phone (this will erase your data)
If asked you to erase SD card, say No
n wait, i have idea of application, which temporary unloack your screen. updating soon
Edit : This application call screen lock bypass
https://market.android.com/details?...uY3VyaXR5LmFuZHJvaWQuc2NyZWVubG9ja2J5cGFzcyJd
this will allow you to unlock screen temporarily, so you can take backup
Just Now i have seen they have added screen lock bypass pro
which unlock screen without reset, but it is paid application
read this
https://market.android.com/details?...ob21hc2Nhbm5vbi5zY3JlZW5sb2NrYnlwYXNzLnBybyJd
So if you have nothing important to care of your data, just simply hard reset your device.
can you try this:
in the lock screen, double press the home button to bring up the voice control module
after that, just press back, and you're at the home screen
weird that mine does this

Go to samsungdive.com and if you have a samsung account on your phone you can log in and remotely unlock (among other things) it from there. You do not have to lose any data.

With screen Lock , How to enter in account setting?
I think this work if set it priorly on device.
huh? I clearly said that if you have the samsung account set up on your phone (which you do if you use samsung apps etc), then you can do this. To log in to samsung dive, you need to have your account set up.
I made the the mistake of activating the lockscreen password feature of my Galaxy Note and now I can't seem to deactivate the feature. When trying to turn off screen lock password under the security menu - you will see in the screenshot that it "deactivate" option is greyed out.
Anyone know why its like this? How to go around this problem? By the way, I am using ICS Version 4.0.3.

Nope its not a custom ROM. I'm using the official update from Samsung.
setting - security - screen lock - select None
Edit : sorry just now seen screenshot, its not available for you.
are using any password storage appl n deleted it?
I think wiping can solve this, but not advisable on ICS.
have you tried changing the option ? Like selecting Pin Number, Then see if 'None' becomes selectable ?
Sure is strange

Hi,
If you go to the samsungdive.com website and register your device, you will be able to reset any activation priorly set with the remote 'unlock screen' feature.

Same happened to me, not sure whether you've had solved yours.
Anyway, go to Setting<Security<Clear credentials
i know this is an old post, but i faced somewhat of a similar problem. couldnt select any option but pin and password, everything else was greyed out.
go to settings---->security---->clear credentials (at the very bottom)
its caused by some certificate which doesnt let u remove lockscreen. hope it helps.
It's working again from any screen. Update under Playstore, then go check under "Settings->Lock Screen & Security->Secure Lock Settings->Smart Lock->Trusted Voice".
I do not seem to have 'Secure Lock Settings' under there. Hmmmmm

You can accomplish the same thing using the "Google Settings" app (gray cog icon) and selecting Search&Now -> Voice -> "OK Google detection"
Turn on "From any screen" at that point, and follow the rest of the prompts.
Trusted voice is a superset of the "OK Google" detection, and is used to unlock your phone using your voice.

if u need to read time and notifications without unlock the phone so u can use "wave lock" from play store and enable only the unlock, and for better response only cover the front camera by your hand or touch it to enter to lock screen to check time and notifications.
this application is battery friendly

He means the application that he just installed requested device administrator which ends up disabling the fingerprint scanner for security purposes. Are you able to use the fingerprint scanner fine when installing and using the unlock option provided with that?
