I'm considering getting the N6 and I was hoping for some thoughts from anyone who had a N5 and moved to the 6. I love my N5 but I just wish it has better battery life. I am honestly torn between the N6 and the Note 4, so I'm hoping some of you can help me make up my mind. [emoji3]
Things I like about the N6: open platform and lots of development, large battery, decent camera, lollipop, and water resistant. I am just a little concerned that it is just too big a phone.
Things I like about the Note: lots of features, S-pen, decent battery, good camera, better form factor than N6, replaceable battery, ability to expand storage via SD card.
I am not thrilled about Touchwiz, and the fact that the At&t variant is totally locked down with no development community.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

i had a nexus 5 as well, and a 4, galaxy nexus, nexus s, and nexus one. that was my big concern as well, as im not a big guy(5'7"). but, after a week of using the n6, i picked up the n5, and it fekt tiny. really, the n6 ferls just normal size now, but the n5 feels tiny

Just my opinion, but I do not like the style of the Galaxy Note nor the Galaxy S series of devices. I think the Nexus 6 is more aesthetically appeasing. But the Nexus 5 is one of my favorites. A powerhouse of a phone in a sleek black jacket.
Have you guys found it a problem to get the N6 in your pockets? How are you getting around with it?

I was worried about this and got mine in the first wave. Surprisingly I got used to holding and pocketing very quickly (3-4days) and I'm fairly average sized. Now my nexus 5 seems weird to hold

no, it fits just fine. that was my problem, i envisioned it being too big. but its not as big as you think it is. if youf nexus 5 fits in your back pocket, the the nexus 6 will as well.
I've used a Nexus 5, but I never owned one. I have a LG G3 which is a child's toy to me when I use it. As Simms said the Nexus 6 feels normal after a while. I've had mine for a month today actually and I haven't looked back. Once your get a Nexus phablet you don't go back.
I whole heartedly love the N5. I have jumped to many different devices (oneplus, note 3, g3, etc) but i kept coming back to the N5. The battery life drove me nuts, but the dev community is amazing.
I love the feel and real estate of bigger phablet sized phones, I just hate the software. I had the Att version of the note 3, but the dev scene was crippled due to the locked down bootloader and knox. Im not sure if its that way with the note 4 now.
The nexus 6 fits in my pocket fine, but its impossibe to use with one hand unless you have big hands. As mentioned before going back feels small (I felt this way goimg back to the N5 from the oneplus). You do get use to it though.
If you like the stock android, and can deal with the size. By all means go for the N6. It feels like a premium device. If youre into the bells and whistles software wise go for the note. To me the deciding factor is the dev community. Its quiet now for the N6 (mainly because its ridiculously tough to get it right now), but it will pick up as more and more people obtain it. I dont feel confident in the same for the note.
Thats just my opinion. Hopefuly i help.
I like the form factor of the note 4 much better. The nexus 6 is too wide. Having said that you cant beat stock android.
I had a nexus 5 and the nexus 6 is much bigger. I feel like the performance is very similar. Front facing speakers and almost double the battery life (screen on time) is very nice. The phone fits in all the pockets i used for my nexus 5 so carrying it around isn't an issue.

I have huge hands, and i cant use it one-handed.
Still love the Nexus 6 though. I was updating my Nexus 5 tonight, and man it feels like the small iphone 2g in my hands
Thanks so much guys. I feel like if I go the Note route I will be happy for awhile bit then after I get used to the phone Touchwiz will start to get old and I'll be itching for a change. With the N6 I'll always be able to flash something different and keep things interesting.
It seems like all of you guys are getting used to the size of the N6 so that definitely helps alleviate some of those concerns.

I came from the N5 its a fantastic little phone. The N6 is very large as you know. Too large for some. I'd give it the old 14day college try and see if it's for you. Might not be. It won my heart over but it wasn't immediate mind you. It took some time getting used to the size. As for the display they're very different. Again, something you'll need to experience for yourself to see if its for you. I can't comment on the note 4, but I do come from long line of Sammy devices and still have 3 in our family. Nothing they've done in the last 2 years or are doing at present interests me. They are stagnant, beyond boring, and aesthetically look very cheap. That's the truth and good luck deciding
I have larger hands and can almost use the note with one hand, but it fits in all my pockets just fine.
I came from the N5 as well. The battery life for me is amazing I charge once a day in the morning and don't change again until the next day.
The note may have touch wiz and expandable memory, but when the device gets in more hands (i see people are still having trouble getting it) the development will be great.
an open device with the best specs. and when you get board there will be so many roms you can flash.
I would definitely get the N6.
Nexus 6 is so huge compared to the Nexus 5 feel so kind of you know what I hold the Nexus 5 damn Google Voice sucks laugh
Via my NeXus™ 7FHD on XDA Premium app
I came from an N5 and there is no looking back. Everything is better (except one-handed use) and you don't even notice the size after a week.
I'm 6" 185 lbs and wear skinny jeans. Zero issues. Lol.
I have both. I'm still getting use to the size, but I don't mind it to much. The one thing I don't like is I'm super paranoid of dropping it because its so slippery and wide no homo. I would never use a Samsung unless it was a nexus.
fcuk milk, got root?
I'm coming from n5 and really wanted to upgrade to n6p until I saw the price! This is one of reasons I didn't upgrade to n6 when it was released last year, the other being that it seemed too big!...
I recently purchased n6 64gb for about £200 from rakuten (£200 as got £80 worth of points)... I'm a tinkerer and love timely updates to OS when Google releases new versions and hence why I really wanted you stay with nexus, plus the fact that there's more development for nexus devices than any other devices...
I've requested a return but not received the RMA yet... I was probably going to stay with n5 until n6p prices come down or buy either moto x style or g4 whichever received timely Android 6 update...
Any advice / suggestions welcome ? Am I going to regret sending n6 back especially considering the price (my main reason for sending back is the size... Seems like a spade in my hand and I've had a look and no other manufacturer has released such a ginormous phone recently... Even Google played safe this time with 5.7")...same as note 5!...
Also, as current owners of n6 what would you say about the size? Have you learnt to live with it or do you love the size that any smaller you would find hard to accept?
ginormous.. its all related to how you personally see the world. i had a n5, bought a n6, grabbed my n5 3 days later and it felt way to small. i im not a big person. im 5'7", with medium small hands. and the n6 feels so perfect in size.
I love my n6. I will get the n6p for no reason when it goes down in price. My n6 was 300. Oh yea I will be giving it to my sister and keeping the n6p. I would keep the n6 if I was you. For the reason that there is not one phone out there like it. This phone is so unlocked unblocked. You can never stop doing so much to it. Hopefully n6p is as equal.
I had a nexus 6 then I jumped to an S6 then Note 5 and now I'm back to a Nexus 6 if that tell you anything.
N6 was only "Too big" for about 2 hours. Now it feels so normal I think all other phones are to small. But I do think that n6 is the maximum size phone for me.
Many thanks for all the replies...much appreciated. Going to sleep over it but looking more like I'll be keeping it now ????
I came from a N5 about 2 weeks ago. Always felt the N6 was too big, but after the recent price drops on it at Amazon I bought one... 2 days later I got used to it fully and now love the size. Even my wife who is tiny, is starting to like the size of the phone. I loved the N5 but at this point I feel the N5 is just too small now. I love the N6. But I get that the N6 is not for everyone.
I've used the N6 off and on since February, and I still feel it's to big, sane as the Xperia z ultra I had. Note 4 was a better size, though somewhat awkward to hold for me. My bit to small, but i I'm switching back to it when ever my brother sends it back to me. I was going to get the N6P but I think I'll wait a bit, maybe get the Xperia Z5P.

Similar but not exactly same... Note 4 about 5mm+ smaller in length and width and does not feel as big as n6 (I purchased note 4 about 6 months ago and it turned out to be fake so sent it back to fleebay seller!)...
RMA paperwork has come - decision time!!!!!
I am get used to the N6 size in just a few days, came from N5.
And now, I cannot have phone with smaller screen size.
5.7" is OK, but N6P is ridiculously expensive right now. So, I am holding not to upgrade. Besides, N6 is still decent, great performance, great battery life (even better with Android 6.0)!

Right I think I'm keeping the phone but before I start messing about with it I need to know what to check to ensure I don't have a faulty phone or refurbished unit sold as new as I've read in a few places...
Any common problems to watch out for please?
Thanks
speaker distortion, yellow tint, half screen glitched, loose speaker grill, peeling letter on back. there are probably drive I forgot. you can search earliest threads in Q&A I think.
well i recently bought the Nexus 6, and i love it to bits.
i always was a Sammy fan but i got sick of the source codes not being released for the Exynos models of theirs... and their latest Phones s6 etc. are kind of locked completely so i made a jump to the Nexus 6 from my Note 4 which i still have,
and damn even though the Nexus 6 is bigger it feels so much better than my Note 4, and the bigger plus point is the Custom Rom section it got loads of Roms.
i even think that it looks way way better than the new Nexus 6p , it depends on you and your wallet in the end though.
i would suggest keeping your current Nexus 6 simply because it is a beautiful beast , it rocks.
my only minus poiint is that the battery is abit disappointing .

Thanks - Just like you I was a big Sammy fan until I tried a Nexus 4 and instantly loved the speed and experience...and not long after decided to purchase Nexus 5 which i've nearly had for two years and still loving it...but wanted a change!
I was going to give Sammy another go with either S6 or Note 4 until I saw their ridiculous prices and lack of memory expansion not to mention swappable battery (though this would not bother me if the manufacturers use a decent size battery!)...and thought nah...Sod Samsung for their arrogance, they wont get my custom!
After a long looong thinking I made a decision: I buy a Nexus 6, today. Yes, a one year old device, instead a new Nexus 2015
In a first moment, when Google shows the new devices I was quite sure to buy a Nexus 6P; even though I ever look to Huawei with intrest and diffidence meantime. Test and video started, and showes a fragile/breakable device: scratch and bending tests are disarming. Moreover the test on build quality and the "how to fix" video showed a freak quality
I abandoned Nexus 6P idea....
Ok, probably the Nexus 5X will be my device: LG, build quality (easy fix) test good/passed, I like the good selfie camera, and the rear camera in the middle with laser AF. Yes I saw the video of N5 vs N5X... user experience looks quite the same... 2 years later, incredible... yes, only 2 gb RAM.... and basic version is 16gb ROM... really wierd for a 2015 Google phone!
And why not a Motorola Nexus 6?
Yes, why not? Is 1 year old, no fingerprint sensor, is big, no.... huge.... old, no Marshmallow native, no 2015 device... no... no...
Ok, keep calm.
With a Nexus 6 I will lost:
better selfie camera (compared to 6P and also to 5X)
Laser autofocus for rear camera
handy/practical device (definitely vs 5X)
USB type C, useful (It's about time!)
fingerprint sensor... I belive in it, useful, comfortable
With Nexus 6 I get:
good display, better than 5X, quite similar to 6P
good rear camera, with optical image stabilization... but without lare AF. IMO no far from both 2015 Nexus in term of user experience.
great CPU, best Snapdragon quadcore: probably very near to 5X and 6P in term of user experience
3gb of RAM, maybe not needed in daily use, but better than 5X
32gb ROM in basic edition, as basic edition of 6P, as top edition of 5X
great stereo speaker, very difficult to beat
wireless charging (f*ck the USB type C), incredible lack in both Nexus 2015... Google don't belive in wireless charge, for the future?
Nothing about aesthetic.. Is up to each one of us: but I don't like the 6P... probably black is the only way (for me) to tolerate the camera black band.
Very nice the N5X, and also the big Nexus 6 IMO.
Now.... In my country I buy Motorola Nexus 6 32gb with 100€ less than N5X 16gb version. And about at 50% of 6P price.
Done deal! :highfive:
Any comment is welcome
i think u make a right decision and i will not buy the Nexus 6P or 5X too, although i'm Chinese......

quite true... just fingerprint sensor I really would on it.
I was waiting for 5X and 6P to be released, but I was so disappointed with pricing in Europe, so I just decided to order myself a N6. Got a great deal on ebay for a new device with 1 year warranty and it's arriving tomorrow. I am still just not sure if I'm gonna like the size of this thing . I have 14 days to decide weather to return it, but somehow I think it's going to stay and my old N5 is probably going away...

Yes true. EU prices are fu*ing indecent, especially for 6P.
Size scare me away from N6, but also bewitch me.
Cross fingers for both of us :highfive:
I used to laugh at a guy in my office with a Galaxy Note, but as soon as I got my N6 it all became clear that this is a really good size for a phone. I was worried that it wouldn't fit in my pocket - it does, no problem. The screen is terrific, front stereo speakers, brilliant device. I haven't regretted it for a moment.
Even if the 6P didn't have the Snapdragon 810 I still wouldn't have upgraded. The N6 is plenty good enough for me until it eventually dies one day.

Really happened to me when I bought my Note1 in substitution to my old iPhone 3g!
I almost pre-ordered a Nexus 6P on its launch day. After further review I ended up going with a Nexus 6 as well. I have had no regrets! It is by far my favorite of any phone I have owned. I can not believe I only paid $350, $150 less than the 6P would have cost.
Is the 6P "better" than the 6? In my opinion yes it is, depending on how you look at it. But I do not feel that the 6P is $150 better than the Nexus 6.
You will love your Nexus 6! It is an awesome device. The SD 805 / Adreno 420 coupled with 3GB of ram is a solid performer and I feel it is future proofed for at least 2 years. The 2560x1440 display is amazing in my opinion, however it is my first device with an AMOLED display. The front facing stereo speakers are the best I have seen/heard on a smartphone. I also feel the camera takes a damn good picture. I have heard from others that it is not that great, but I can't see a difference from pictures taken on my Nexus 6 and my iPhone 6.
was also on the same boat. but i said to myself, why wont i try a 6 inch phone and see it for myself. and boom. i fell in love with it. 6p and 5x for sure are good phones. but the nexus 6 is a flagship as well. so basically, your not settling for something bad. u did settle for good. for the price way too cheap now. its pretty damn good deal
Same here. I wish it has the camera from the new Galaxy phones and the finger print reader but other than that it's a great phone for $300.
Also, I don't like the idea of having the finger print on the back. How can you unlock the phone while it's on the cradle, car mount or whatever? LG's back buttons make sense to be on the back but not the finger print reader like the 6P.

I suppose fingerprint on the back is cool and useful. But only suppose.... Beacuse I never used it.
Anyway... I'm with my Nexus6 now... Yuppyyyy!

Wise buyer desicion.
I did the same too!, mine is just 2 weeks now , got it for $300 (32GB blue).I had 1+1 as daily drive but wanted a bigger screen - 6P is bigger but not enough and 6P is ~+$200 more than 6.
Then concerns of 810 and prospects of a nexus 6 2016 with 820 or more > May be worth waiting.
With Nexus 6 - So far so good , I adjusted the color tone and with Chroma - It is still in par with 2015 flag ships in normal use.
I wish Moto make another nexus 6" , even Sony or HTC is fine.
This one is also an interesting piece @$300 , If developers support it.
Yeah!
In Italy I paid 379 euro for 32gb blue.
6p cost is 699 fu.king euro... And you can bend it like a banana easy peasy.
Also the N6 screen is fantastic, really amazing. I like a lot in my first approach.
Looks a very good device... And Marshmallow looks kindly married with it!

This thing is huge! Just arrived yesterday and I was playing with it whole evening (after 5.1.1 and 6.0 updates together with 3 security patches) and almost whole day today. Battery is so much better in comparison to my N5.
I guess having my Moto 360 will help a lot to cope with the size .

I jumped on the same boat. N5x isn`t a big upgrade for my N5, N6p is a way too expensive and its build quality is not great. So I decided and I have placed order for N6 for a half price of N6p ( I live in EU). I also got a free chromecast 1st gen xD. The only thing I will miss its a figerprint sensor but I can live without out.
I too just got my nexus 6 on swappa for $279. It was only used for about 2 months and the previous owner had purchased the 6P. At first the size of the nexus 6 took a little getting used to but then it becomes a non-issue. Front facing speakers on this device are amazing and I think the camera is great in my opinion.

i choose to get the nexus 6 because you got one lol.
I got the dough in hand and wanting to purchase soon. I was set on getting a Oneplus 2 than a friend suggested a nexus 6. So thought i would come ask the people that have used the phone for a while. Do you like it or regret the purchase? Is it still one of the best?
Well, I am using a OnePlus Two and just ordered a Nexus 6. As an owner of all older Nexus phones and OnePlus One I must say the OnePlus Two just doesn't feel right. Development is really messed up, roms have their flaws. CM13 is coming along but I kinda feel it will be a steady fight against the hardware and devs will soon give up and have no interest.
Without having used the Nexus 6 yet I am more than sure that the 6 will be a better phone all along if you are not interested in a fingerprint scanner.
If you have used a Nexus device before and are used to things working properly without dirty code hacks I wouldn't recommend the 1+2 at all.
The only thing that kinda holds me back is the old chip and smaller ram. Both, im sure, make no dent in real life use. Is the battery life on the Nexus 6 comparable to what you were getting on the OPO?

As I said I don't own the Nexus 6 yet but compared to the Oneplus One the OnePlus Two doesn't make that big of a difference. Heck, for real life usage I actually don't see a difference at all after 2 months now. Just last week I used my old 1+1 again (as I sold it to my sister) and it felt snappy just like a modern smartphone should. No difference at all. 1+1 running CM compared to 1+2 with stock OxygenOS is even faster in my opinion.
So as the Nexus has almost the same hardware as the 1+1 I am sure it will perform brilliant.
I don't messure my phones with battery life as I can always charge it when in need.

Yup, 2560x 1440. Screen is good, also in direct sunlight imo.
I second all the positive comments. It was very expensive new a year ago, but now it's well under two-thirds of that price. If I lose or break my N6 over the next year or so I'll get another - that's how good it is. Plus the early security updates, of course.
I got the 64GB version - more stuff on it than I can watch or listen to in a month, and still 20GB spare.

I have both. I have a 64gb sandstone oneplus 2 and a nexus 6. Speaking from personal experience which I'm sure u know already but true the OPT has the snapdragon 810 but as u know the phone only run on 2 of the A-57 cores and 2 of the A-53 cores unless u flash a kernel like the AK kernel or boeffla so it's basically like it's a quad core device with less powerful cores if u ask me and as far as the less ram, it doesn't make a difference. The N6 is still smooth and the OPT's are still running 5.1.1 and true we have a cm 13 build in the works but honestly man with no nfc the smaller screen with less screen density and the sucky speakers I'd say that the N6 is still a great contender and is what I use daily. I put my OPT up for sale but no one wants it lol. And plus with all the controversy over the USB C cable not being certified and risk causing damage, it's more of a headache than its worth IMO
I am happy with my Nexus 6. For price it is better than most flagships, yet in overall performance it is comparable to many phones out there. Love the larger screen, great fit/feel in the hand. Lots of development out there for this phone.. Great battery life and even better depending on ROM you are using. Only drawback, IMHO, is no sdcard or removable battery, but as long as that is no issue for you, buy it!
I actually sold my OP2 out of frustration. Got a Nexus 6 as a stop gap phone until I had enough for a 6p but I haven't felt the need to jump ship yet. Fingerprint reader is missed but everything else about the n6 is still great. Its fast and gets great battery. Even the camera is decent enough for social media. I don't miss the 4gb of ram that the OP2 had or the 810 since the n6 is so fluid since everything just works so well on it. The OP2 really could have been great but the stock software and the lack of decent dev for it makes it a really hard recommendation compared to the n6.
Using mine on chroma rom and elementalX kernel and it's lovely

Dont mind me asking, where did you get your new in the box? Ran across one on amazon for $349 just checking to see if i can get any lower.

Yes you can get it for lower, just keep your eyes open. They been going on sale on eBay New for $289 minus $17 eBay bucks = $272. An even better deal was Amazon black Friday for $199. Maybe Amazon might have another sale for Christmas but who knows.
I got it back in early November ebay $272 deal. To date, it has been my best phone. Love the size, the battery is great, and the performance is awesome. You can always get better but will cost you more money. Owned the 6p for a week and didn't think it was worth $328 more.
Currently, Amazon is selling the 64gig white Nexus6 for $300. I just ordered one for my wife. Her LG G2 keeps getting drowned somehow.
The 32gig ones are about $40 cheaper. New, in box, USA version, unlocked. Works with every carrier sim I have ever tried. Works with Fi, too.

I have a note 4, as well as the nexus 6, both are excellent phones and I am very happy with both of them, but I tend to use the nexus more as my daily driver. It's only drawback? No SD card or removable battery.
I bought the Moto X Pure and didn't like the screen. The Nexus 6 has an awesome display that I couldn't give up. Now I'm going to sell the Moto X.
I would recommend it as well. I have used mine on the pure nexus rom for months now. I recently switched to the Moto X Pure for SD card support and physical size. The battery life and performance are still great but it's really a massive phone. Aside from the size the nexus 6 is still a very good phone and the custom ROMs are all perfectly stable.
If you don't mind spending a little extra, I would recommend the Moto X. It's unlocked, the bootloader can be unlocked as well, the performance is right on par and battery life is just as good with the 3000MAh capacity. Those are just my 2 cents.

In almost all ways, I'd agree with cpeterman above. Nexus 6 is a great phone. I have/had the Galaxy Note 4 because I value the removable battery (going to concerts and taking photos/movies doesn't leave me much opportunity for quick charging) plus the removable storage. However, in daily use, I find myself wanting and going back to the Nexus 6 because the UI is always smoother (no Touchwiz jankiness), and customizing it so Ads don't freeze up the phone while trying to load up is a huge boon.
While I'd agree with going with a Moto X to at least gain back some things like removable storage, the Nexus 6 can be had for way too good pricing these days if you keep searching. I saw Amazon's Black Friday price and I honestly debated whether or not to buy another Nexus 6 in case mine ever goes south just because it was that good for the price.
I'm not as huge of a fan of the screen size, but I can't argue that it's quite useful for certain things. In reality, I'd probably prefer a Moto X Pure for the screen size and removable storage, but I can't help but think I might still want the Nexus 6 for certain things. Even after all this time, I'd still say the Nexus 6 was and still is a fantastically designed phone that can still run with flagships of today.
I know this will be a boring post for many, but I figured I'd give my thoughts for other Nexus users who might be reluctantly considering this phone over the current Nexus line-up or the upcoming Nexus line-up.
Anyway, as you can tell by my signature, I've been pretty biased towards Nexus phones for the past 6 years. Owning almost every one since the Nexus One, skipping the Nexus S. I've always been drawn to the pure Android experience. However, as the years have progressed and other Android phone line-ups have produced some nice little features (double tap to wake, properly working ambient display etc.), I found myself lusting over some simple features that the Nexus phones just don't have without rooting and using weird workarounds that are often buggy. But every time I tried to veer away from Nexus to get these features (LG G3, LG G4, LG G5, HTC 10), I found myself missing the pure Android experience and always ended up throwing those new phones in the drawer and going back to my current trusty Nexus.
When the OnePlus 3 was announced, I was partially intrigued but didn't give it much thought. That was until I watched this unboxing and feature walkthrough video. For the first time I really started to look forward to a non-Nexus device. So far, I have not been let down at all.
The OnePlus 3 is just as snappy as my Nexus 6P was and is just the perfect size to be comfortable in the hand. This is something the larger 6P lacked. I'm also quite amazed at how well the ambient display works on the OnePlus 3. The "wave" to view notifications, double tap to wake, and camera/flashlight gestures all work perfectly. Meanwhile, the ambient display on the 6P and 5X just never worked when you needed them to and always seemed to activate at the strangest times. It was useless on those phones and I always ended up just turning it off.
As of late, the only reason I was rooting my Nexus phones, was to flash a custom kernel so I could tweak the display RGB color settings to my liking. But with OxygenOS, that feature is baked right in, as it should be. To some this may be silly but to me, this is a game changer. Mainly because it allows me to set the color hue to my liking without having to root.
I know that software updates won't be nearly as fast. However, as time has progressed I've learned the hard way that having the latest, right off the bat, is often not the best. By the time OxygenOS is released based on Nougat, it will likely be bug free and 100% solid, as the current OxygenOS is. It will also have the cool features I love, that stock Android just doesn't come with.
So in summary, I think I finally found my perfect phone and for the first time in 6 years, it isn't a Nexus. I can safely say that I have little to no excitement for the upcoming (likely HTC) Nexus phones.
Great job OnePlus! :highfive:
@sn0warmy I have to wholeheartedly agree with you. I have been a Nexus user since the 5, I too have tried the odd device but always came back. I have the feeling of using a Nexus while having features only found on other devices. And I like that feeling ..Heres to OP keeping that feeling alive.
/agree
Also come frome 6P , agree that this is cool replacment for nexus.
Good on you and thanks for sharing. I have a feeling we'll have plenty of customs Roms to replace all the Nexus updates.

I whole heartedly agree. I've ownly owned the Samsung Nexus S back in the day, but I can say the OnePlus 3 is one of the best android's I've ever earned. Great battery life, great camera, great design and feel. Just an overall great phone. I prefer it over my HTC 10, and I feel like at this point, I don't plan on going back to spending $600+ on a smartphone, when I can get one for sub $400 or sub $475 that performs on par.

Yeah, the HTC 10 was such a letdown to me. Even with 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 820 processor, HTC still managed to find a way to make the almost "pure Android" interface laggy. And the camera was a big disappointment coming from the 6P. On top of that, the finger print scanner didn't work for me 50% of the time. Super annoying.
I sold my 6p and got this baby I'd say I'm definitely in love. been a nexus user since nexus one.

Nearly a mirror my of my precise thoughts and experience. Excellent post. I would agree even about the updates. The Motorola N6 I'm upgrading from was a nightmare almost from day 1 as far as hardware and implementation. The updates would often make it LESS stable and I learned to start being wary of them. I'm happy to upgrade to a newer cleaner O.S. every year, but done being a guinea pig for Google. The OP3 is what each Nexus device since the N5 SHOULD have been as far as price/hardware/performance is concerned. If Oneplus can keep this pace up, I'll stick with them for a very long time.
OP - agree 100% - i have had every nexus, and always enjoyed them. the Nexus 6p was the last one i had, and this op3 blows all of them out of the water. with the exception of updates directly from google and completely vanilla android, this in my opinion this is a nexus+
I agree with you, I came from having 2 nexus phones, a 6P (personal) and a 5X (work). I absolutely love not having to carry two phones around everywhere I go. OnePlus absolutely nailed it this time around: the weight balance and feel in the hand, the screen, dash charging, very near stock android with nice added extras, battery life is excellent.........

Nice, i ordered it 1 week ago. And i got my Nexus 5 for 3 Years now, and i never want to Change to a other phone than nexus. the 5x isn't that good to upgrade from y Nexus 5. but i give this one a try. i hope i dont get disapointed
Thank for this review.
I dropped my Nexus 6P yesterday and broke the screen. Its usable but for a $200 fee to replace screen I'm thinking of getting this instead.
This might be a silly question but I can use this phone while its being charged right? and will layer themes work with stock?
TIA
Just ordered my OP3 this morning. Love my 6P and have been a biased Nexus user since the Nexus One, but I'm willing to give the OP3 a shot and see what it can do as a daily.

Well said. I consider this to essentially be an upgraded Nexus phone as well. It's everything I wish the Nexus line was.

Yes of course it can be used while charging and with dash charging it will keep on fast charging your phone even while you are using it. Quick charge slows down the charging if you are using it due to heat.
Some layers work some are buggy. If you want it to work perfectly I am sure you can find bone stock roms to flash and layer them to your hearts content. I have linked a thread where people are discussing layers on oxygen os.

Yes!
Had a Nexus S as my first smartphone. Loved it, got a Nexus 4. Then Nexus 5... Then I made the mistake of getting an LG G4. Noooope, hated it. Decided to get a OnePlus 3; I feel at home again!
I've also come from the Nexus line up, used a 6 and 5x after that. I feel the 1+3 offers a near enough to stock android experience that I still enjoy the phone and the added customization compliments it nicely. As for modding/rooting its pretty much the same ease of use as a Nexus.
Also the recent problem I've had is some carriers don't offer the new Nexus phones or they are rediculously priced so went off contract and bought a 5x for my girlfriend and I, she dropped her phone and broke the screen and since its not from a carrier there's no protection plan for damage just factory warranty so I bought my 1+3 with their protection plan as its a nice option when you want to be contract free so thats another nice option from oneplus.
I'm totally satisfied minus the poor quality tempered glass screen protector that came in the essentials pack.
Also I've experienced the unfortunate interface of samesung and lg g4 and the quality issues those phones suffer from because of phones my gf has used them and rooting samsung or lg phones... difficult or impossible compared to nexus or oneplus, in the lg g4s case only one model could be bootloader unlocked, what?
What you guys think about Camera of Nexus 5X/6P as compare to OnePlus 3 ? I have seen the photography thread of OnePlus 3 as well as Nexus 5X and Nexus 5X camera take better pictures which look like as if you taken Photos from professional camera while performance of OnePlus 3 camera is average. My assumption is based on looking at photos which member posted . I also own nexus 5X probably like everything about OnePLus 3 except camera so i personally wish to have nexus 5x camera in onplus 3
OP - thanks for this, I've got a Nexus 5 and I'm looking toward picking up an OP3, glad to hear it's a great balance between freedom from carrier bloat and customized UI. My clicking finger's getting itchy to pull the trigger on one, just have to run it by the master of finances, a.k.a my wife
