Best custom rom on amazon fire 7"? - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says i would like to know what the best custom rom is currently for the amazon fire 7". I want a smooth, stable rom with everything working. Thanks in advance!

In my opinion, all custom roms are good. Every one has a preference for a specific rom. I would suggest trying all of them out and making an ultimate decision yourself.

[Q] Youtube hd codec error

I want o flash a custom ROM to my kindle fire hd but i haven done it because of you tube bug were videos wont load after the kindle has been locked. Has this problem been fixed in any roms?
You don't have to worry about that on a custom ROM, why not try out my ROM that I ported!
It is AOKP, I am working on AICP right now. Have fun!

No problems for me
I've used multiple different custom roms on the Kindle Fire HD7 and have never come across the issue which you speak of. I think you should be fine with flashing a custom on it.

Good Stable ROMS

So I have ended up moving on from my LG L90 to the Nexus 6P, a large part of this move was due to not having to wait for Android updates with the new Nexus devices, but with that being said, I am looking to reflash a good, stable, 100% working ROM on my phone, and use it basically as a backup, or spare phone for my family.
Are there good recommendations here in regards to a ROM that has everything working? Or is the Stock Lollipop ROM my best bet at this point?

Does everything in CyanogenMod 12.1 work? From the IR Scanner to NFC? I know it was originally an issue earlier, but if it all works, I am down to use it, as I always preferred stock android!

Which rom should I flash

Well my fire is coming next week and I want the most stable and fast rom, I don't care about customization i need it stable for daily use, please share your experience with me,by the way i am leaning toward Resurrection-Remix because root junky recommend it

I've been using RR for quite a while. SlimLP is pretty good too. Ironically the only one I haven't tried yet is CM 12. The other two are super stable in my experiences though.

SlimLP is very good, just be careful when using flashfire to install CM. My amazon fire is currently stuck on bootloop.

CM 12.1 is very stable. That is what i have installed on my amazon fire 7 inch. I am very surprised at what this $50 tablet can handle. Everything is very smooth. I used setcpu to adjust the cpu speed to my liking. Very smooth
NOTE: I don't have to use Flash Fire to flash as i didn't update my device. Have had no problems using TWRP to flash CM 12.1

I also don't have vibration but that really isn't a problem as the notification sounds work
There is no vibration because there is no hardware support so everything is fine now

No - roms for this device are listed in the following thread. CM11 is not an option (nor will it ever be).

Thank you, you have fully answered my question about CM11!
About CM12 though... Well, I... I want to use something official. Something that passed their procedures.
I've noticed the unofficial CM12 in that sub forum, so I thought maybe fire HDs official CM12.1 would be compatible.
Do you know what would happen if I'll install that build? Do they use completely different hardware? Would I brick my fire?
Thank you!

Don't be concerned about the "unofficial" verbiage. Likely a formality. As you are new to the forums (at least this one) know @ggow has a strong reputation for releasing quality roms across a variety of devices. They are straight up variants from credible sources with only minimal customizations required for device compatibility.
Not going to touch the question about flashing a HD rom.

thank you, indeed I am new to the whole ROM scene. I suppose you're right, it just that well... it's a matter of principle/habbit/ policy/comfort... If there's only one source who he alone controls your most sensitive areas and no one knows what goes on there...
-sigh.
Wasn't there a story a couple years back how much of malware in android actually came from people installing custom roms?...

lol, ok I think I get the drift.
A "risk" (cough) one assumes messing with a rooted device. Reputation matters. Do your homework before acting. If it keeps you up at night stick to stock.
well...
thanks .

Which Rom is used the most?

Ok so I'm trying to find a daily driver. I've done a lot of flashing. I have used dirty unicorns, linage, rr, aokp. I just can't figure out what I want to run so I want to see what everyone else is running. This isn't a hich room is best thread. Just tell us what your running and why that rom.

LineageOS
I think they provide better support, quick Stable update
Good luck
:good:
Oxygen Open Beta
But do those have customization like rr? I use Nova.

RR is a customized LineageOS with lots of extra options. The launcher however, you decide over no matter what ROM your running. I'm also using Nova on stock LOS.
Lineage OS from sultanxda. Stable, best battery life, best camera, no bloat, not so many unnecessary options
Looks like resurrection remix the best rom. I am using always resurrection remix on all my phones, SGS 2, LG nexus 5x, Lenovo A6000, nexus 10, SGS 7 and now one plus 3t

Ya when I was running it I had some force closes and some lag. But I'm not looking for the "best" ROM BC that's going to differ for everyone I'm just seeing what ppl are running.
I decided to flash sultans linage. I'll give up the customization for stability.
Stock - i used to be a custom ROM guy but can barely be bothered now-a-days saying that ive never been as happy with a stock ROM as i am with OSS.

Yes, it is. Call it what you want: most popular, favorite, best ROM. It's still all just the same question. Everyone has massively different preferences and needs, and your experience will vary drastically depending on how you as an individual use your phone. Asking strangers to make a decision for your is not only useless, it is also bizarre. You clearly already have the knowledge/ability to try various ROMs (as you stated you did). So leaving the decision to something as arbitrary as a stranger's whim (or a ROM's popularity) is just strange.
I'd also caution against using a ROM, just because it's widely used and "most popular". Plenty of times in the past, the ROM that worked best for me, was one that was less popular, and more obscure. You do yourself an injustice by ignoring these "hidden gems".
For the first time after using a smartphone, i decided to settle with Stock ROM. For me, it gives the best UI and a lot of useful options. I don't even need to tell that the Stock camera is far better than any other apps used in other Custom ROMs. Battery is really amazing too considering my way to use the cellphone( Facebook app, the great battery villain is full time here in use).

Bout the LOS, for me one important option is missing, a black UI
Thanks everyone.
ROM Lover
I love trying out new ROM's.
Fot OP3T i have tried Oxygen official, Oxygen Beta, Lineage & Ressuruction.
To me Oxygen beta since May has become really good, improved battery a lot.
Stock is always better
What about paranoid android?
Dear Sir,
If quick update is the requirement, the Lineage is the best and I have to say unofficial sultan 14.1 is the same as he is also quick but If you are installing sultan 14.1 for only battery back up then I think you should have a look with custom kernel such as franco and elemenatlx which are great in battery back up.
But for me and also with some other friends, stock oxygen is the best as camera is the main priority for me. For other features magisk is readily available.
Thanks to all developers for the support time to time.
