So I have an art moto x since December 2013. The mic is broken for about two weeks now and I am having trouble finding a replacement for the moto x(my favorite phone to date). Is there anyway to replace the front mic, also is there a way if I were to buy a new moto x(2013) somehow put everything from this phone onto it just the way it is(would be just like turning this phone on, apps in same state and same build etc
)
You could replace your mic.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-VERIZON...284223?hash=item235b84c8ff:g:uFoAAOSwA4dWKmcf
I looked into replacing it and that seems to be the mic for the top of the phone not the one used for picking up the users voice. I don't think it is replaceable.
Do you have Custom Recovery installed? Than it will be no problem to mirror your phone. Both systems must have the same Android-Version.
Boot recovery, choose Restore, select only DATA .... done!
If your phone is not rooted you can try this: http://www.technorms.com/39708/android-backup-4-best-options
My phone is not rooted so I will have to try one of those optioned you linked, thank you for that link BTW. But If I buy a new phone from reading what u wrote it would have to be the same xt1058 and have to have the same build and android version right ? If this is the case how do I get it to be the same as mine w/o Upgrading passed this point. Thank you
You need a xt1058 with the same Android Version. I dont think this is hard to find.

A little help, anyone. I'm having some trouble with Moto X 2nd Generation's NFC. I try to check the box to activate the function, but it just won't work. In stead, a black check mark appears for a few seconds in the box, and after a few seconds, it just goes back to being unmarked. All in all, I can't get my NFC to function. What to do???? P.S.: I've even tried factory resetting it, and still didn't get it to function.
What carrier? Pure edition?
XT1053
My NFC doesn't work either that's why I am still using the last nightly for moto_msm8960dt from September 9th,2014
My phone is a MotoX XT1053 T-Mobile Global Unlocked version
Thanks for any help. I really want to flash the ghost version but can't until this issue getsresolved.
So, the camera on my 1st gen Moto X doesn't work. Did an advanced replacement and got a new phone last Friday. when I try to use Migrate on my old phone, I keep getting Camera error. Is there a work around? I need to send my old phone back in a week. If the Chinese Middleman was responsive, I would have restored the TWRP backup on the new phone, but, he is no where to be found!
Would be very appreciated if anyone wants to weigh in with advice:
My friend has the XT1053 (I have the XT1058 AT&T), I pressed him to get the Moto X, his will be one year old next month and he's having 2 issues. His XT1053 is completely stock 4.4.4, locked bootloader, unrooted, using AT&T's service.
Have spoken to tier 2 tech support at Motorola, like me and probably anyone else, they have never heard of the first issue:
When he has wifi toggled on, but not connected to anything, it makes a strange interference when he's on a call (kind of like a reverberation in a tunnel sound), as soon as he toggles off wifi it stops, seems to only be when using his bluetooth headset (not the headset, have tried a couple of them). Cleared the cache and tried in safe mode in case it was 3rd party apps, as suggested by tech support, neither solved it. He's reluctant to do a factory reset, but I told him I'll help him back up his stuff.
The 2nd issue just started a couple of days ago:
In driving mode, if an announcement comes in "new text from..." it makes a tone at the end and is "stuck" repeating the tone very fast, like a record skipping, screen isn't frozen, but the audio file playing is (maybe that audio file got corrupted?) I cleared the data for the assist app on his phone, but it still does it. I get the feeling tech support won't know which audio file it is, or where to find that file.
I know the factory reset is likely the best thing to try first (and if it fails, downloading and reinstalling the firmware maybe?) wish it was evident if it was a hardware or software issue re: the first issue -the issue with assist sounds more software I think, though both seem peculiar, especially the first issue, with the wifi, the issue with the assist, maybe the audio file is corrupted? Not sure which file it is, I guess it's the one that follows: "New text from... to hear it, say listen", so I guess it's the tone it makes when listening. If tech support doesn't have a good suggestion, I'll press him to do a factory reset
Thanks in advance for any input, his phone is still under warranty until sometime in February
The second issue just started on my girlfriend's moto x yesterday. Apparently after Google got updated along with a few other things. Her phone is completely stock as well. I'm thinking they messed up the update on one of the apps but I'm searching here now trying to fix it for her. She relies on that feature a lot when driving around.

Thanks
Surprised no one else has mentioned having the issue. I wonder if related to the update of Google search -though that was like a week ago? -unless it took time for it to start to happen

You're right. I recently fixed that same issue after that app was updated.
Rolling that back to a previous version, fixed the issues with moto assist for me. Look under apps in settings and uninstall updates to revert to the factory version. The version previous to this update is 3.6.16.1614640. (com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1)
FYI, if you check the app page for the google search app and filter the results to current version and moto x, you'll see complaints about it breaking moto assist.
As for your first issue, I would recommend a factory reset as you mentioned, but maybe someone else had this problem and can better assist you.
If a factory reset doesn't solve the problem, you could use tasker or similar and force wifi off when bluetooth is connected (and back on when disconnected). Getting a free new phone through warranty is always a nice option though.

Thanks true, it is still under warranty, though they said they only have refurbished models if he exchanges, as it's no longer made -I guess they don't have inventory of 1st gen Moto X anymore?

Yeah, I know motomaker for the 1st gen ended awhile ago. No idea if they have anymore new, non-custom stock on hand. A few months ago, when I exchanged mine (cross-shipped), the rep told me that the paperwork would say refurbished, but that it would be new. And it was new although this was for the developer edition. I guess your issue isn't really worth the hassle for a refurb.
Hi you all! Please help a girl in trouble!
Some time ago I flashed 3SE rom (1276-2189_14.5.A.0.242_R1D) on my phone because ..well.. the Nordic combined lollipop update took ages and I didn't wanna wait no longer.
The flashing went well and the phone worked properly. About one month ago the usb-cover came off so I sent it to get repaired.
Yesterday I finally got my phone back after three weeks and was such a happy girl. I flashed the customized NCB (1276-9897 14.5.A.0.270_R1D) to get rid of the 3-logo when booting. Then I moved all my photos n stuff on the phone... and first after this I inserted the SIM-card - only to notice that the phone does not work.
It won't connect to network. Says stuff like "invalid card", "emergency calls only". Everything else seems to be OK. I have tried a couple of SIM-cards that work in other phones, but nothing. The cards are not home cut, they are original micro sims. I took the sim lock off also, but it does not help.
I have tried flashing several roms, but still the same. I noticed that on some it get's some kind of signal strength, but on some roms it's just 0. I've flashed with flashtool and used also Sony PC Companion. But still the problem remains.
The IMEI can still be seen. On the phones package is the text SI 1276-2949.11 (FI, DA, IS, SV, NO). The phone is less than one year old.
Before everything got wrong the bootloader was unlocked. I checked with Flashtool to unlock bootloader and it showed the IMEI and redirected me to Sony's site, but I got a bit scared if some quarantee would get void. I don't remember the BLU redirecting me before to Sony's site if I have fiddled around with the phone and Flashtool..? The phone is unrooted and I would want to keep it that way. [Edit: it says "Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes"]
Now I am only very confused, and very stuck.
One thing that makes this crappier is that I am leaving tomorrow for my vacation, a trip that will last over one month... I really need my Xperia Z1 working and with me (and I really should be packing etc. instead of googleing and trying to figure out wtf I've done this time.... Unfortunately I really need that phone with me ).
Can somebody help, does anyone have any ideas?
And of course I have also tried the SIM cards with some paper behind them so that they would fit tighter.
If I try to put the APN manually it says that "Access Point Name settings are not available for this user".
I just tried once again to fix the phone with PC Companion, no luck.

Hello!
I can't find much to do but try to downgrade to a previous working version that was on your phone, and completely wipe everything (with stuff backed up of course) and see if the sim works, then update using PCC.
That's all I can think of, good luck and have a nice trip!
Regards,

Hi and Thanks for the hints!
The 3-version of Lollipop worked earlier, but not anymore. Unfortunately I think it is the only version I can find from those that has worked on the phone earlier. Can't seem to find the original anywhere. I have had some backups of the phones and firmwares, but my computers got messed up, so I've lost some of the roms (and of course I have tons of other stooopid backups and their backups )
I'm trying to downgrade to some 14.3. global thingie right now, but my hopes aren't too high since I've done this already few times.
And thanks! I am sure that one busted phone can't mess up my vacation even if it makes it much complicated (water resistant, good camera, gps and battery etc.) But hey, what the heck, it's summer and I'm off duty

At least they are proper phones that actually DO work.
It's a shame I don't have any of those good ones left.
No other ideas whatsoever? Anybody? Mumbo jumbo voodoo? Rain dance?
Can you see your imei in the service menu?
Yes, the IMEI is there.
Got it fixed in another country in three days!
The service company I used first had broken some chip on the phone... Won't be using their "services" anymore.

Glad you got it fixed.
So it was a broken chip? Or did the chip get damaged when the first company tried to fix this issue?
Hi all, I just bought the G4 from T-Mobile yesterday. (It was discounted to $350, which put me over the edge.) My Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G (SGH-T699) is 3+ years old, so was time to replace it. It was getting really sluggish, apps were crashing I think due to running out of memory, it would often thermal shutdown (and always when using maps to navigate while driving), etc.
I had been looking at the Blu Pure XL for a few months, but was waiting on the development community to put a 3rd-party ROM on it. Well if you look in the Pure XL forums, you'll see how well (or not!) that has gone.
So now I have the G4, and would like to restore app data, messaging and call history, etc. from my SGH-T699. My Galaxy is rooted with Cyanogenmod 11 and Titanium Backup Pro. The LG G4 is NOT rooted, and I would prefer to wait to do that until the warranty expires.
How would I restore those things with something like adb backup and restore, or with Helium? (I know Titanium doesn't work on a non-rooted device.) Or is there a better/easier/safer way to do it?
Btw, last time I tried setting up Helium with my Relay 4G several months ago, my computer (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, i7-4790K, ASRock Z97 Extreme6, 32GB G.Skill DDR3-1600 RAM, 12+ TB HDD space (4x HGST 7200rpm NAS), etc) unable to connect with it that way. I was able to use ADB backup/restore to do a nandroid backup on that phone, and also Titanium (once it was rooted) has helped me keep apps backed up.
I'm guessing that doing a full adb backup from the Relay 4G and adb restore that backup to the G4 wouldn't work, right?
I did do the OTA update to Marshmallow on the G4. (Only mentioning that cause of the other posts that mention hard-bricking when downgrading, but I don't know if that applies to me at this time since I'm not putting a custom ROM on it yet.)
Again, I do NOT want to root the G4 before the warranty is expired, UNLESS it won't void the warranty. (Same goes for installing a custom ROM, or anything that would void the warranty.) I have enabled developer options in the G4 (tapping build number 7 times), but I haven't used the unlock app provided by T-Mo (which I think is a SIM or carrier unlock, not bootloader unlock anyway) yet. (Edit: I did do the carrier unlock, but made the mistake of making it a temporary and not permanent unlock. Do I need to wait the 30 days or can I perm-unlock immediately? Edit 2: turns out it gave me the option, but said it's ineligible. I did pay for the device in full, but I guess I still have to wait a month?)
I don't know how, but I do have a quick question! What are the first three digits of your serial #? Because I also just bought the G4 from T-Mobile, it's arriving in a couple days, but 505-509 serial numbers are seemingly affected by the dreaded bootloop issues. Do you which batch T-Mobile has in their stock right now? If it's 512/601/602 it should be fine.
(this post is assuming you bought the phone online, but even if you bought it in-store I would still like to know. )

I bought my phone in store, specifically Parkway Plaza in El Cajon, CA. Upon inspection, it does look like I have the dreaded 509(KP...) number. I just bought it yesterday so maybe I should take it back and see if I can get it exchanged for one with a different serial? (Maybe at a different T-Mobile location?)
Well $*!*!! I was typing a reply, and my internet connection went down when I went to submit it!
Anyway, the T-Mo store told me to basically keep my G4 until / unless it exhibits the problem. Also, is there a way to find out if my phone would exhibit that issue? Mine's serial starts with 509KPZK... Is there a way I can test for the issue myself before I do anything more with the phone?
I can't get adb *or* Helium working - my computer can't see my phone, other than opening it in the file explorer. In Linux, the adb shell script won't run cause it says the adb file (which is right in that folder!) doesn't exist. In Windows, "adb devices" comes up empty, and Helium can't see the phone no matter what mode or USB port I try, and yes, USB debugging is enabled.
I really need to do a full backup of the current phone, then restore my app *data*, SMS, call history, saved games, etc. from my Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G SGH-T699 to my LG G4 H811.
Since I can't get any of the above things to work, what else can I do, *WITHOUT* rooting the G4?? I am *NOT* going to root it before the warranty (I think 1 year) expires, *UNLESS* I can do a FULL backup, then restore that full backup and turn off root access to be able to return the phone for warranty service if I get that issue.
Also the T699 is frequently stopping recognizing my SD card. That issue started happening right after I changed my service over to the G4's sim (which is a different size sim so I don't think I can just pull it out of one phone and put it in the other.)
As for the G4, did I get the wrong phone? (warranty void if rooted, can't connect to PC, etc.) I'm still within the 14-day window. If so, what other phone has the same or better features (1440p screen, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 808 or better CPU, removable battery+SD, etc) for the same price ($350) without buying a used one on ebay or buying on Amazon from a 3rd-party seller (unless it's a known established retailer), that is more dev friendly? (The Blu Pure XL which I had considered seems to be quite dev UNfriendly, the Moto X Pure and Nexus devices either lack removable batteries or SD cards and are too expensive, the Note 4 hasn't been dropped in price like the G4 has, etc.)
