A little help, anyone. I'm having some trouble with Moto X 2nd Generation's NFC. I try to check the box to activate the function, but it just won't work. In stead, a black check mark appears for a few seconds in the box, and after a few seconds, it just goes back to being unmarked. All in all, I can't get my NFC to function. What to do???? P.S.: I've even tried factory resetting it, and still didn't get it to function.
What carrier? Pure edition?
XT1053
My NFC doesn't work either that's why I am still using the last nightly for moto_msm8960dt from September 9th,2014
My phone is a MotoX XT1053 T-Mobile Global Unlocked version
Thanks for any help. I really want to flash the ghost version but can't until this issue getsresolved.

Ok, So i had the htc one, but the moto x i couldnt help but to get. So i returned my device and got the moto x today in store. Phone was activated and i was on my way. Everything seemed to work fine, data, calls etc. Now i go and power down my device as i do if im at work, when i power it back up, it goes to the hands free activation screen, and then errors. But the device is already activated and works fine. Now i am not in a 4g area, 3g only and was told that if your in a 3g area you need to put the device under mobile networks in cdma mode only. Well if i power down the device and reboot it will go through hands free activation screen everytime. I called sprint store where i purchased device, and he said he powerd down three active moto x devices, rebooted and each came back to the hands free activation screen as mine did. He said he has never seen this happen to any android device on sprint. But planned on emailing someone within the company to get answers. So my question is, have any moto x user on sprint expierenced this?
Did you call tech support from a different phone? I wouldn't wait on the guy at the store.
I accidentally posted this in the Moto X 2014 forum. Sorry for the duplicate post.
I just purchased a Moto X Developer Edition (Verizon) directly from Motorola, and I'm attempting to unlock the bootloader, but at this point I can't even get an unlock code. I followed the instructions and used fastbook to get the unlock data from the phone. I copied and pasted (several times) to the Moto website, but when I click the "Can my device be unlocked?" button, I get a dialog box that says "your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking". It's the Dev Edition, so this should not be the case.
The box that the phone came in says XT1060DEV and the phone has Developer Edition stamped on the back. When I look at the About information on the phone, should I seen any indication in there that it's a DE version? The Model Number field just says Moto X.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Thanks.

Lots of people had this problem including me. They say it takes a few days for your IMEI to get in the database, but I waited and it still wouldn't give me an unlock code and I had to get tech support involved and had to use the email associated with the account the phone was ordered on. YMMV.
I would call tech support and get the ball rolling on this b/c it took days for them to fix it for me.
Yes, the site has always been glitchy. Just be sure you're entering everything right....and keep trying every once in awhile. Took me a few tries over 10 hours to get my Rogers version to work....and I bought mine off a guy....new in box though, so it was just the site acting up.
I'm going through this hassle right now with a Verizon Developer Edition that I bought from Motorola.
I'm on hold with someone over seas that keeps telling me that they can't and won't help me.
Seems to have affected the September manufactured Verizon developer edition Moto X's (I was livid as i gave my gf a VZW DE on her bday and went through hassle to unlock this before she could play with it).
I called Motorola support and even gave them the URL to fix, note the update in the thread. The user responds very quickly (~4 hr resolution) - https://forums.motorola.com/posts/f2061da875
Phone support appears independently trained and didn't understand the difference between sim unlock and the bootloader unlock..and sadly didn't relay the URL to get it fixed/escalated.
Can anyone confirm what OTA any non VZW Nexus 6 on VZW is getting? Curious to know... Sorry if this is a repost. Couldn't find it while searching.
Thanks!

My GPS model shipped with 5.0 and updated to 5.01 after a couple hrs on wifi. I rooted and flashed a 5.1 rom shortly after so I don't know if or when it would have updated to 5.1.

all nexus 6 are getting 5.1, regardless what carrier youre on. all nexus 6 in the US are identicle. when buying via verizon, itll just have a verizon logo on it, thats all.
I just received my replacement phone (which I purchased from Motorola but had the shutting down while battery still displayed 50-90% issue), put my VZW SIM into it and can tell you that on my phone, the OTA progression went from 5.0 to 5.01 to 5.1 "LMY47D".
Just an FYI: After it flashed to "LMY47D" and used it for a couple days (VZW "VoLTE" worked fine with this), I went to the Google factory image page and flashed "LMY47E" as that is the version that comes on the Verizon variant, factory reset, and when I set the phone back up, the phone automatically downloaded My Verizon as well as Verizon Visual Voice Mail automatically once it signed into the Play Store. I do not know if "LMY47D" would have downloaded those Verizon apps or not after a factory reset with a Verizon SIM in it, so someone else will have to chime in on that.

the provider apps get installed because of your sim card. can always first boot without the sim card installed, that way it wont install provider apps.
Received my Google 64 GB white Nexus, popped in my Verizon SIM no problem. I set up my phone over wifi first "it came stock 5.0" , powered off inserted SIM, then powered on, while phone was on wifi it updated to 5.1 Lollipop, 4G works fine.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
So I have an art moto x since December 2013. The mic is broken for about two weeks now and I am having trouble finding a replacement for the moto x(my favorite phone to date). Is there anyway to replace the front mic, also is there a way if I were to buy a new moto x(2013) somehow put everything from this phone onto it just the way it is(would be just like turning this phone on, apps in same state and same build etc
)
You could replace your mic.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-VERIZON...284223?hash=item235b84c8ff:g:uFoAAOSwA4dWKmcf
I looked into replacing it and that seems to be the mic for the top of the phone not the one used for picking up the users voice. I don't think it is replaceable.
Do you have Custom Recovery installed? Than it will be no problem to mirror your phone. Both systems must have the same Android-Version.
Boot recovery, choose Restore, select only DATA .... done!
If your phone is not rooted you can try this: http://www.technorms.com/39708/android-backup-4-best-options
My phone is not rooted so I will have to try one of those optioned you linked, thank you for that link BTW. But If I buy a new phone from reading what u wrote it would have to be the same xt1058 and have to have the same build and android version right ? If this is the case how do I get it to be the same as mine w/o Upgrading passed this point. Thank you
You need a xt1058 with the same Android Version. I dont think this is hard to find.

Moto G5S Plus with "ID: bad key" problem and won't see updates (stuck on 7.1.1)
Hello, y'all. I have a Moto G5S Plus (XT1806) with an unlocked bootloader that is showing "ID: bad key" whenever I restart the phone and I have no idea what to even try to do, being that I have not ever even unlocked the bootloader on a phone, as I am having this problem with a phone I bought from eBay that had this issue when I received it.
The full message that displays on my phone is this: "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted. - To learn more, visit: motorola.com/unlockbootloader - ID: bad key - Your device will boot in 5 seconds."
For the record, I'm not really concerned with this message being displayed after I restart the phone, as the message goes away after about 5 seconds and the phone starts up properly and is able to be used (*for the most part, with two issues, which I will describe below this paragraph*), it's that the phone will not see any Android updates and is still stuck on these outdated settings: Android version: 7.1.1 - Current version: NPSS26.116-61-8 - Security patch level: April 1, 2018. And I have tried to search for updates with my T-Mobile SIM card in the phone, and also when connected to my home WiFi, but it will not see a new update available.
* The two issues that I referred to earlier have to do with actually making calls on the phone, with outgoing calls taking like 20-30 seconds to actually start dialing and incoming calls not even ringing through to my phone and sending callers straight to voicemail (the phone shows no notification of someone having tried to call me). Text messaging works properly, and I am able to connect to a strong LTE signal with my T-Mobile SIM card in the phone and I can use apps and websites without any issues. However, outgoing calls take much longer to dial out than they should take, and incoming calls will not work at all.
So, I am hoping that flashing a different ROM on to the phone will fix these calling issues and also allow the phone to update to a more-recent Android version. However, as I mentioned, I have not ever even unlocked a bootloader, much less, actually flashed a ROM on a phone, so I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to things this. Also, for the record, I have tried multiple different APN settings on this phone, I have used my T-Mobile SIM card in another phone without any calling issues, and I have done multiple Factory Resets, but nothing has fixed the calling issues or allowed the phone to see any Android updates.
By the way, if flashing a different ROM might be worth trying on this device, being that I would be a first timer doing something like this, how difficult would this be? And about how long should the process likely take?
If anyone has any helpful advice, information or suggestions that they could offer me that might help to fix this issue with my Moto G5S Plus, I would appreciate any and all help that I could get!
Could anyone at least let me know if flashing a new/different ROM on this phone might help to fix the calling issue and allow it to see new Android updates? And if so, could someone recommend a ROM for me to try to flash?
I would really appreciate a reply.
Lol - you bought a device in which someone already unlocked the bl. Only way to get rid of the message is to lock the bl. But, an unlocked bl isn't causing you to not get updates.

I'm not sure why you find it funny that I bought a phone that already had the bootloader unlocked, but, yes, that's what I did. Also, as I specifically mentioned, I was not really concerned with the message that displays after restarting the phone; I was just hoping to get some information and/or advice about which ROM might be worth trying to flash and some suggestions about a simple way to try to flash a ROM for the first time, as I'm trying to figure out a way to fix the phone call issue and get the phone to see a new Android update.
If anyone sees this thread and is willing to offer a reply that might actually help me try to fix this issue with my Moto G5S Plus, I would really appreciate some help with this!
Bump. I have the same problem on a new phone on which I unlocked the bootloader -- Yes AZAssassin, neither am I sure why anybody would think it's funny to have an unlocked bootloader on a phone that's sold by Moto as easily bootloader-unlockable.
All I've done so far is unlock the bootloader and disable a few useless apps. No TWRP yet, no root, nada. But I keep getting the message that my phone is up to date. Model XT1806, Build number NPS26.116-45. I just want the security updates, not Oreo, but I can't get any updates at all.
