Cannot update to 5.1.1 from 5.0 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hey all, I have repeatedly tried to update to 5.1.1 and it fails each time at 32%. This phone is unrooted. Any help would be much appreciated.
Here is a video of the process.

Make sure you have at least 5 gb internal storage. I had to uninstall some apps, do the upgrade, and then reinstall. Hope this helps.

I ended up taking the phone to an AT&T Device Support Center and they flashed it for me in 10 mins, worked.

[Q] M& slowdown - factory reset ?

I'm experiencing some gradual slowdown with my M7 running Viper One 7, to the point where I'm clearing the caches once a week. Seems stoopit.
Since I've flashed prolly 20 ROMs over the last year, I'm thinking that it might be worthwhile to do a factory reset, wipe the SD and all.
If I make a Nandroid with TWRP and use that to start with, wouldn't that actually include any bad gris gris and therefore kind of null the point of doing the factory reset?
Would I be better off, after the factory reset, flashing the ROM and Kernel (EL-X) from scratch and dropping all else from a back-up?
Or am I over thinking this?
Something slowing my M7.
I have 140 apps. No games.
About a dozen of which are running normally, using 785mb of 1.7gb RAM.
And 27.5G of total storage used.
Wtf 140 apps? I got maybe 30.

imo, yes it would be better to start over from scratch.

I have . and in updating TWRP, I wiped the phone again.
so sideloading again.
ah well
so far, the couple apps that were misbehaving have been better.
but the 1 xPosed module I have, MacroExpansion isn't working correctly.

If you've ever rooted, you'll have to Odin back to stock before attempting to update. You can use this to go back to stock 4.4.4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2999317

I had the same problem. Used the method suggested by andygev35. Worked perfectly the first time and took about 20 minutes. I used the all in one no wipe .tar. Make sure you thank all those responsible for making all this possible! Good luck! :good:

New OTA: G920TUVS4EPH2

Got this OTA after doing an ODIN of EPF1 to my phone. Baseband is updated to match, unsure about bootloader but I doubt it. If someone wants a ROM dump and is willing to tell me how....
I got this update pushed to me also.
Question for anyone who knows: If you flash this do you lose the ability to install custom low level software (firmware, recoveries, etc)?

I didn't. I haven't tried downgrading but I flashed recovery after it updated. The one thing I have noticed is that wanam xposed/firefds kit has some functions that don't work or change anything...

It's possible, our S6 won't get locked on any 6.0 firmware's
Maybe on 7.0 if we get it. but not 6.0
And for clarification EPH2 was just security fixes.. everything else is still the same.

OK, thanks — how should I go about doing this? I've always used CF Auto Root, but it doesn't seem updated yet.
I guess until further notice using Smart Switch as a lazy way to recover from my own stupidity is out

This guide will help you with all of it, just change the "the rom" part to whatever 6.0 rom you decide you want to use instead.
I'm downloading the complete TAR image from Sammobile, but due to finances I don't have the means to pay for the full speed..
So I'm downloading at the slow method.. If someone else has not uploaded the image, I will upload it by late tonite..
I'm still having issues with the damn Upload it gives me last second errors when I step away to do another task..
I'm making my final attempt to upload it onto my Android File Host... It should be up by morning if it uploads correctly.. Just Look For Zaphodspeaks in Android File Host if I haven't posted it yet..
I have many tasks to do this week ends.. Mainly upkeep the the old house and updating some of the old wiring while its getting cooler..
Finally, I uploaded the Image.. I had to recompress it since it kept giving me errors at the very end, just unzip and install in ODIN

Got my phone rooted, custom rom, and kernel that I was using before, no problem.
Last night (9/27) I got a firmware update for my factory USA unlocked 920T. Sammobile shows it was released on 9/26. It was a 50MB file that updated the Android secruity patch date to Sept. 1. No other changes. I noticed the Samsung Smart Manager app/widget shows I'm using 5% less memory now. I don't know if it's better RAM management or Samsung modified the app/widget to show different figures LOL. I suspect the t-mobile 920T will get the update soon.

recovery files after reset

Last week my Nokia 8 device was unexpected factory reset during the night. I have some important files without sync. How I can recover these files?
There are tools you can try to recover the data with. It's not guaranteed though that it will work if the internal storage was wiped too. Here's one tool (have no experience of it) and you can easily Google for more.

Samsung warranty?
Don't understand what update is installed... not aware of any available update. Moreover why would you take it from an APK mirror?
Nothing this, I don't know if this is a warranty issue...

Maybe try uninstalling that apk you installed from APKMirror. Then reinstall it from Galaxy Apps. My Note8 is on version 2.3.02.1 which is the original from Galaxy Apps.
Don't use APKMirror in the future in hope of having the absolute latest update released. If it's purposes to work on your specific device then the update will find it's way to you in general.

try replacing your tip with the replacement tips included. See if that works because the tips are pressure sensitive.
If you are using some cheap magnetic case it might affect the spen also, if so take off the case and retry.
If not then your circuit board inside the pen probably died.
