Hi,
I have Samsung Galaxy S5 mini (dual SIM card) phone and it's not rooted. Android version is 4.4.2. and there is no update for it. I don't have any apps installed that modify Settings menus. When I go to "Data usage" menu, I don't see "Mobile data" or "Set mobile data limit" options. There is only "Data usage cycle" dropdown list with previous cycle ranges. Anyone knows how to get back those options? I need to set mobile data limit on my phone and I don't know how.
Thanks.
Did You enabled mobile data first? The checkbox for the data usage limit is only visible with mobile data on my S5 mini.
Yes, it's always enabled.
It's ON when I check slide-down menu. Mobile data is checked when I go to Settings > More networks > Mobile Networks
You can set the limit in settings / data usage. There You will have a check box below the mobile data check box.
If I had it there, I wouldn't ask it here.
There are two tabs in data usage screen, one for mobile and one for wifi. Are You on the mobile tab? The wifi tab looks identical but has data usage cycle drop down menu only.
There are no tabs there. I attached screenshot of Data usage screen.
Ok, then I have no idea.
May be a factory reset will fix it but this results in a complete data loss.
But You can try to find a third party app in PlayStore that also provides setting a mobile data limit.
Samsung is currently rolling out Android 5.1.1 for SM-G800F. It is possible, that You also will get the update in the next weeks.
I'm concerned about having a totally different OS than other people have on their phones of the same model. I remember I used to set data usage limits when I bought it new in early 2015, but something happened to it after some time and these options just disappeared. I thought I changed some settings which disabled them.
I will have to wait for the update or till a buy a new phone. I've had three Samsung phones since 2011 and they always disappointed me in different ways, especially in terms of updates and bug fixes. I need to stick with Nexus phones or switch to Windows Phone.
Anyway, thanks for help.
I have the exact same problem. Did you manage to solve it?
My device is a samsung galaxy J1 (dual sim, 4G) and I had the change data cycle and set data limit buttons. Now, these options are gone, and the graph show a data usage graph 2 months old (march-april)
No, still the same. I'm just waiting till I upgrade my phone.
Same problem here.
Btw, I would move the thread to general problems, beacuse it doesn't happen only on galaxy.

My issue was resolved after recent update to Android 5.1.1 by Samsung. Set Mobile Data Limit checkbox is there now.
Issue solved!
It seems that you have to use a little of cellular data to show that option!
My contract and sim were new and I didn't use a byte of cellular data.
Now the switch is present. :victory:
Hope it helps!

Hey all,
Droid 3 using Minimoto 1.7 (Safestrap install) here. I've been using the phone as normal for almost a year before this happened -

Can anyone help me figure out what this "streaming media" app is? I was using the internet as normal one day and suddenly I noticed it had gulped 100MB in a very short time. At that point I thought it might have been the Youtube app (which Advanced Task Killer reported was running in the background) streaming crap so I deinstalled the app (also turned off 'allow apps from unknown sources'), rebooted the phone, and very carefully browsed for a bit while checking the data usage frequently. Suddenly it had taken another 130 MB.
I only have 500MB per month which is my only non-work internet access and I watch it like a hawk. This "thing" has now eaten half of that. Extremely annoyed!
Right now the only thing I have installed that might be considered "streaming media" is Soundcloud, which I haven't even run in a couple months. I'm getting worried about malware, etc. as I have no idea what this is nor what it's doing. I've never seen that show up in the data logger before. BTW the data logging app is My Data Manager but I have confirmed the extra data use appears on my bill, i.e. it is 'real' data and not just a bug in the app. I have "auto update apps" turned off in the Play Store and the "system updates" screen comes up blank (didn't think Minimoto would 'pull in' updates anyway?)
Also, I put my SIM card back in my old phone (HTC Dream running Android 1.5) and it works just as it always did with no unexplained data. At this point I don't want to get the Droid online at all for fear that it would gobble up the rest of my data and go over. (I thought of running something like Avast or Malwarebytes but it seems they are only legitimately available from the play store which means the phone must be online - argh!)
Any help appreciated - thanks in advance!
The only thing I manually added and as shown - currently selected is the "Fix" - APN to enable Wi-Fi MMS pic send/receive which seems to work fine as found in another thread in these forums.
Here is my question. Should ALL these APN's be in my phone as follows:

I am on a ROM and not sure if they came with it or I somehow got them in otherwise.
One of the reason's I ask is that my girlfriend's T-Mobile Avant first off, only has ONE T-Mobile APN period in this section.
2nd reason is she is complaining of getting duplicate texts from my phone (both text & MMS pic sends) from time to time so I am wondering if this is due to having so many APN's as noted in above screenshot?
Thanks
Pic is not showing
Bump!
I'm bumping this cause I am interested in the answer too. I think my WiFi Calling is messing up...
Pic still not showing and since op never came back he probably figured out his rom was the issue.. As Tmobile stayed many times mms over WiFi will only work over WiFi calling. If ur trying to say it still sends it cause it sending thru mobile data still.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Apologize as I have no idea what happened to the pic from my OP. I will check my phone but believe I have since deleted it. Sure it's in my email somewhere as I usually send it to myself after taking a screenshot from one gmail account to the other.
Anyhow, I have resolved my issue by moving on to a different ROM. I will gladly share my current APN if helpful to anyone.
Still having issues with T-Mobile's Network itself, a whole different story, but can confirm that I have "WiFi Calling" & "MMS over WiFi" functional now. :good:

Go to the apn setup, do a reset to default on the apns, then a couple of tmo apn will show up, next, use the one that works best for you, and simply remove the others.
Good luck!

Hi everyone
I have a weird problem, when I'm using my phone and let's say on Instagram sometimes when i refresh the feed it's just doesn't.. i doesn't say you don't have internet connection it just won't load the new posts and keeps the loading indicator rotating
Another app is Spotify when it's randomly playing songs that haven't being played before (not cached) it's stops suddenly of loading the next song and resumes after a couple of minutes
Same problem with tinder not loading the incoming messages
Only can be solved by disconnecting and reconnecting WIFI or using cellular data
My phone is fully stock with the least official update
I've checked:
Background restrictions.
When Spotify or Instagram stuck I swhich to another app say YouTube and it's perfectly working and loading, going back to Instagram and it's still stuck and not loading.
WiFi router is not far away from me so the Signal is strong.
Do you have any idea how can I solve this without resetting the phone ?
Thanks
Did it start with csd1 update?
Thanks for the reply
I actually don't remember but here's the version I'm on now
Current version: N960FXXS2CSBA/N960FOXM2CSA2/N960FXXU2CRLT
Having same issue. One UI. Has been an issue since latest update.

In Android Pie v9.0 in app settings you can turn off battery optimization and it should prevent the app from being put to sleep. Maybe this may help. Or if wifi data saver is turned on this can cause issues also. There is one other menu/screen that allows you to change settings of when/why/which apps and how they are controlled by Android to save power and allows apps to be put to sleep after a certain amount of app unused time, or when it predicts that you are not normally using a particular app at a particular time. I cant seem to recall where I saw it or how I got to it but if I track it down I'll be sure to post the info because I think it may be a likely cause or fix for your issue. Only other thing I could figure it could be the modem firmware that your on is buggy and hopefully it will be fixed in a future update.

Here is what I was looking for. You go to settings>device care>tap on battery>tap three dots top right>tap settings. In there is some stuff that may help with your issue.
Thanks for the reply, I've actually already done that I've disabled all the settings related with putting apps to sleep at device care/battery which doesn't solve the issue
Yet i still have to try un-optimizing the apps surly this would lead to battery drain but let's see what happens.
I'll keep you updated with the results
So I have disabled all of power efficiency related settings in device care/battery section
And also disabled doze optimization for the effected
İ can say it's a lot better now but the issue still occurs
could you guys tell me what this icons means? to be more preceise what the small 2 above the phone icon... seems to be linked with "auto data switching" because it disappear when I disable that. also seems to be android 12/one ui4 because I always had this setting and never seen the icon.
P.S. only visible if wifi is off

The icon indicates that your phone is using SIM 2 for Mobile data. If you disable auto data switching, it'll go back to using SIM 1 for Mobile data provided you've selected it as the preferred SIM in settings.
Well... Not... default data is SIM2 always, no matter of this setting.
It seems that that one appears because 1st SIM is using data from 2nd one for "data calling". Thought this would happen only if no carrier signal but it seems not. Saying this because noticed the lockscreen network info saying something with using the other line data for calls... Could catch it because...Now it disappeared completely and all back to normal...
Think I figured it out. It looks indeed to be an indicator that line 1 works through data connection of line 2 (via WiFi calling method). I forced today line one to be out of coverage (tried manual registering to another network) and now, when there is no coverage, the sign mentioned in first post is back.
So looks like for whatever reason the other day I was out of coverage for sim 1. Weird though, considering both sim are same operator.
You can see in the attach it says it uses back up data

Do you still have this phone? Any chance you can use adb to check what setting is changed when the "Auto Data switching" toggle is switched on and off?
Hey i have a factory unlocked at&t sm n960u using straight talk at&t sim. The issue is that i have no volte settings and can no longer make and receive calls due to the decommissioning of the 3g towers. How can i get the provisioning turned off?

Were the inverted triangle is above the toggle on switch. Punch it for the drop down menu.
Select the correct value as shown.

I changed it to the settings and restarted phone and still provisioned.
Clear Sim Toolkit data
Network reset and clear system cache.
AT&T may need to do a reset on their end.
That's all I got.

I don't know. The Note 10+'s I have were already configured for VoLTE when I got them as they ran on VoLTE from the start. Never really thought about it until talk of the shutdown started.
If you have AT&T tech support call advanced tech support; some of then know what they're doing.
Check your Access point settings too.
AT&T APN settings
On my AT&T NXTGENPHONE profile I found that instead of "hipri" (high priority) it had "fota" (Firmware Over-The-Air) which I don't want.
So I created a new profile and tested it. Instant download speed increase it seems... still testing.
APN typedefault,mms,supl,hipri
My original profile was set as IPv4/IPv6, which I used on my new profile instead of the AT&T suggested IPv4 only.
APN protocolIPv4
If you do this create a new profile with a different name so you can retain your original one too.
Don't forget to fill in any relevant spaces on the new and leave the blank ones blank unless you know better.

Have your carrier do a reset on their end.
