As many users here are finding Samsung have limited the Gear apps shown to certain devices. As such I thought it would be good to catalog the apps each phone/model can see. This way we can use build.prop modifications to get all the apps we want.
To get apps to show three lines must be edited in the build.prop:
Code:
ro.product.model
ro.product.name
ro.product.device
The following two posts show the two phone models that I have currently tested.
Hope this helps someone.
Edit:
Seems that the S5 model number seems to produce the best selection so far. See below for details.
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - US Sprint
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SPH-L900
ro.product.name=toltespr
ro.product.device=toltespr
Apps: See attached
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - UK Vodafone
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SM-N9005
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
Apps: See attached
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy S5 -
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
May not be needed but I had them set as they are my defaults.
Code:
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
Apps: See attached
Categories same as for Note 2
Edit:
Some people are reporting issues with Samsung apps upgrading their stock apps to those available on the s5, upgrading s health will stop it from working and you will lose any data when downgrading to your stock version. You have been warned.
Also works with ro.device.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900T

I don't know myself because I use a note 3 but this thread might be a good starting point for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862

Don't have any problems with : ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
I've got a S5ized rom for the S4 with everything coming from S5 (apps and so on ...).
Working perfect ! I don't understand why they'd do that, if they want us to stay with the Gear, they should allow us to use most apps available here lol
This is quite a trick!!
I have a Note 2 with stock rom (with root, because with DN3 I couldn't install some apps in my gear 1, so I reverted back to stock).
I use SAMSUNG-SM-G900A in my build.props and almost every day I have new apps coming! absolutely amazing!!:good:
thanks man!
Hey!
Some users which have nearly full access in the gear manager app store to the apps are able to upload the app files of the "free" apps for the peoples they don't have root?
This where really great!
On my Sony Z Ultra I see the Tizen apps and a few will install however the majority of apps will give an
"Installation filed: Try Later. (0) error.
Anyone else have this issue and /or a solution to fix?

You may to get a "certificate-registration.xml" from samsung and then copy the file to your gear in the following directory: "Home/Developer"
Then you're able to install apk's which are not from the gear manager store.
I wrote a guide in german language, so i think it not help you.
Can't write it in english because my english is not so good and not enough to do this
But you can try to look on it:

You can get around this by installing the s5 health service as well to go with it then s5 s health will work for most

Some of the data in that 159mb is only download as a package to install the software. And then deleted. So don't worry about the size. The problem gear manager has. Well that samsung has. Is they don't update the software so to speak. They release a new one. So to overwrite our already installed they need to rename the files while installing . And sometimes it conflicts cos of the filenames . It's best to just uninstall all. Then install fresh. Pain in the are. But clean installs always more smooth

Yes. Choose a version that worked for you. Then before configuring it. Disable it's Internet connection with a firewall. I recommend x posed framework with xprivacy

Well. root is needed if you want to modify files in sdb.exe and/or in tizen sdk but if you flash tizenmod rom. That's pre rooted anyway

Last week I got the Gear 2 Neo, and was using it with my Note 8, which wasn't fully supported. Spec wise it seemed like it should work, but I had to change the build.prop to make it work. I purchased a watchface that I really liked.
Today I got my Note 4, and when I went to go find the same watchface in the store, it's no longer there.
Is there a way to transfer a backup from one device to another device?

So I actually need to change my build.prop to the same model S5? Gear Manager doesn't work with the Note 8, so I had to change it to that to get it to download and setup. I did everything I wanted while the Note 8 was an S5, but changed it after. Almost everything worked then, except the app store.

Yeah I think so. Change it to the same build prop as the device you bought the app. Then once you got it. Change it back

Sorry guys... I have a little doubt... Yesterday I update my rom in my Galaxy Note 4 sm-910c and today my gear 2 have high drain of battery, what I can do? Can some one help me? Maybe Bluetooth problem? Thank you for the advice!
Note 4, SM-910C Model.
Does this now work non-Samsung phones on lollipop? I'm just getting a crash on start-up. Not sure if it's something I'm doing or it doesn't work with ART.
As I read, the gear manager isnt compatible with ART yet. Im waiting too so I can finally use my gear neo again.
We need to wait until gear mánager work with art

FYI: I just updated my Samsung Gear app to the latest version: 2.2.15022599 a couple of days ago (Android 5.0.1).
I recently purchased a refurbed Galaxy Camera 2. I got it rooted, but want to install a custom recovery. I went to TWRP (preferred), but they don't offer a recovery for the EK-GC200. I see where some have installed a custom recovery, but for the life of me I can't seem to find one for this device. Can someone help me with this? I'm not new to rooting on installing custom recoveries/ROMS, and not new to Samsung (I rooted my s3-my Note 4).

I came across this today. Its a custom ROM of Android 5.0 for the galaxy camera 2 and provides a suggestion for the recovery.
I HAVE NOT installed this on my Galaxy Camera 2, so I cannot speak to it, but the recovery should at least be helpful to you.
If you do decide to install Lollipop on it, lemme know how you like it. It looks like its a stock 5.0 as if it was just an android device with no special camera stuff. Not sure if Samsungs Camera App is downloadable separate, or if there is just a better camera app in the play store that would be more useful.
I am curious about this ROM, but just got my camera yesterday and dont really feel like installing a custom rom on it yet. So far thing runs like a charm with everything I want disabled and turned off, so i have no real reason to want ot change it.
anyway, heres the link:
*for some reason I cannot post the link into the reply without part of it getting starred out.
Just google
"custom roms for samsung galaxy camera 2"
and its the 4th result
The article claims you can just download from the playstore and install recovery.
2. Install the ROM Manager on your Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 Gc. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).

The article is fake, which is pretty obvious if you do any kind of fact-checking or research and I expect trying to flash anything it links to will brick your camera. There is no custom recovery available for the GC2 yet. As far as I know, I'm the only one that has been working on one (and I haven't released it yet because the zoom/volume inputs aren't working currently). There is no Lollipop build for this device either, custom or official. To the best of my knowledge, Samsung hasn't commented if they're going to release a Lollipop build for this device or not.
The $450 price tag turns away a lot of developers to this device. I was able to score mine for $200, but I work full time and take classes when I'm not working. I can't commit to developing for this device in my spare time.
WoW! I didn't know that XDA Developers are developing ROMs for Galaxy Camera! Maybe I can try it...
Bump for this!! I would LOVE a walkaround cam like this. )

There is a module you can grab from xposed downloads called "xtouchwiz" you can enable all apps MultiWindow + much more stuff.
If you want quad MultiWindow there is a rom called "infamous rom" available 4.4.4 kitkat and 5.0 lollipop that comes with quad MultiWindow by default.
There is no apk or mudule i believe that enable quad MultiWindow.
Ok can you give me the link to root the Tmobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Unlocked Version) and the full .tar file justvin case something goes wrong i can flash that or odin it
I see all over the web that the apk for Bixby & S8 Launcher are available to install on Note 5.
Has anyone been able to install and successfully use all or most features of Bixby on their Note 5?
Also, if S8 touchwiz is installed on Note 5, and then uninstalled after trying, will original Note 5 touchwiz be back, and will it have old settings?
Thanks in Advance!

For now only hello bixby app wrks.... Full features will b available once sammy releases s8.... And the s8 launcher apk has to b replaced in system/prive-apps/touchwiz home folder... Just dnt delete the stock touchwiz home apk... Keeo it stored some where else and replace with s8 touchwiz home... If u want the old one back just replace the s8 one with the stock one....
And if u use hello bixby, disable video and gallery in the cards to b viewed to avoid crashes

I m using n-droid rom with s8 launcher. I have to deactivate gallery card, video card and install latest update apk of briefing.
I'm on note 5 at&t with Android 7.0. It won't allow install of touchwiz update apk or Bixby apk. Keeps saying another app with conflicting name ect. I'm using Nova prime as my main launcher. Anyone figure this out yet? Tried disable touchwiz and install. Nada.

Follow the steps of this tutorial, I'm using an AT&T Note 5 which is running Nougat and this method works fine. I've installed most of the S8 Apps on my Note5.
My experience with the s8 launcher
I have got the launcher to install on to my S7 but none of clearing cashe and clearing data, using another launcher while disabling the original touchwiz will work.
Only way I found that worked was to do a factory reset and when setting up the phone, don't sign in to Samsung.
Once your back on the home screen go straight on the net and download the Samsung s8 launcher with bixby.
Once all that downloads then sign back into Samsung.
My biggest problem now is all of a sudden bixby has just stopped working. Everytime I open bixby home it says app has stopped working.
Tried signing in and out of Samsung.....tried clearing cashe and data from all bixby based apps and even tried uninstalling and installing it again but the same keeps happening.
Any tips people. (Note... my device isn't rooted and it's still under 2 year warranty, so i cant root it yet.)
Hey guys, I am currently using Samsung Galaxy Note 5 .
If you want the Galaxy S8 launcher and Hello Bixby but got errors, you can try these out:
Download Bixby Home version 2.0.03.3
Download TouchWiz Home version 6.1.58.5
These 2 works very well, no errors so far, hope these help you. Enjoy!
