As many users here are finding Samsung have limited the Gear apps shown to certain devices. As such I thought it would be good to catalog the apps each phone/model can see. This way we can use build.prop modifications to get all the apps we want.
To get apps to show three lines must be edited in the build.prop:
Code:
ro.product.model
ro.product.name
ro.product.device
The following two posts show the two phone models that I have currently tested.
Hope this helps someone.
Edit:
Seems that the S5 model number seems to produce the best selection so far. See below for details.
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - US Sprint
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SPH-L900
ro.product.name=toltespr
ro.product.device=toltespr
Apps: See attached
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - UK Vodafone
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SM-N9005
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
Apps: See attached
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy S5 -
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
May not be needed but I had them set as they are my defaults.
Code:
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
Apps: See attached
Categories same as for Note 2
Edit:
Some people are reporting issues with Samsung apps upgrading their stock apps to those available on the s5, upgrading s health will stop it from working and you will lose any data when downgrading to your stock version. You have been warned.
Also works with ro.device.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900T

Don't have any problems with : ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
I've got a S5ized rom for the S4 with everything coming from S5 (apps and so on ...).
Working perfect ! I don't understand why they'd do that, if they want us to stay with the Gear, they should allow us to use most apps available here lol
This is quite a trick!!
I have a Note 2 with stock rom (with root, because with DN3 I couldn't install some apps in my gear 1, so I reverted back to stock).
I use SAMSUNG-SM-G900A in my build.props and almost every day I have new apps coming! absolutely amazing!!:good:
thanks man!
Hey!
Some users which have nearly full access in the gear manager app store to the apps are able to upload the app files of the "free" apps for the peoples they don't have root?
This where really great!
On my Sony Z Ultra I see the Tizen apps and a few will install however the majority of apps will give an
"Installation filed: Try Later. (0) error.
Anyone else have this issue and /or a solution to fix?

You may to get a "certificate-registration.xml" from samsung and then copy the file to your gear in the following directory: "Home/Developer"
Then you're able to install apk's which are not from the gear manager store.
I wrote a guide in german language, so i think it not help you.
Can't write it in english because my english is not so good and not enough to do this
But you can try to look on it:

You can get around this by installing the s5 health service as well to go with it then s5 s health will work for most

Some of the data in that 159mb is only download as a package to install the software. And then deleted. So don't worry about the size. The problem gear manager has. Well that samsung has. Is they don't update the software so to speak. They release a new one. So to overwrite our already installed they need to rename the files while installing . And sometimes it conflicts cos of the filenames . It's best to just uninstall all. Then install fresh. Pain in the are. But clean installs always more smooth

Yes. Choose a version that worked for you. Then before configuring it. Disable it's Internet connection with a firewall. I recommend x posed framework with xprivacy

Well. root is needed if you want to modify files in sdb.exe and/or in tizen sdk but if you flash tizenmod rom. That's pre rooted anyway

Last week I got the Gear 2 Neo, and was using it with my Note 8, which wasn't fully supported. Spec wise it seemed like it should work, but I had to change the build.prop to make it work. I purchased a watchface that I really liked.
Today I got my Note 4, and when I went to go find the same watchface in the store, it's no longer there.
Is there a way to transfer a backup from one device to another device?

So I actually need to change my build.prop to the same model S5? Gear Manager doesn't work with the Note 8, so I had to change it to that to get it to download and setup. I did everything I wanted while the Note 8 was an S5, but changed it after. Almost everything worked then, except the app store.

Yeah I think so. Change it to the same build prop as the device you bought the app. Then once you got it. Change it back

Does this now work non-Samsung phones on lollipop? I'm just getting a crash on start-up. Not sure if it's something I'm doing or it doesn't work with ART.
As I read, the gear manager isnt compatible with ART yet. Im waiting too so I can finally use my gear neo again.
We need to wait until gear mánager work with art

FYI: I just updated my Samsung Gear app to the latest version: 2.2.15022599 a couple of days ago (Android 5.0.1).
I'm sure many of us have updated our phones to Lollipop and lost the capability of using our Galaxy Gear. I used the Galaxy Gear app with the gearstub replacement method, and now it does not work.
Did anyone find a fix for this???
I really want to use my gear again without going back to KitKat. :crying:
Does that only count for the Nexus devices who received Lollipop already ?
Or also for Galaxy devices ?
I have the option to upgrade to Lollipop on my Galaxy S5, but ofcourse I want it to work with my Gear 1.
When it doesn't work (yet), I'll prefer to wait untill it works.
So did someone with a S5 already update to Lollipop and can tell if the Gear 1 is still working ?
Ok, I've installed Lollipop on my S5 and it even works with an older version of Gear Manager (for full notifications).

But when you install it, remember to put your phone in airplane mode.
Let is finish installing and then open the program.
Enable all the notifications you want including preview.
When done, take phone out of airplane mode and it will ask you to update.
Don't do that and you should be fine
Hi, I bought a Samsung Galaxy Core II through my carrier's shop a week ago. I already rooted the phone. I'm also using Nova launcher 3.3 (latest), and everything else is stock. Core II came with Android 4.4.2 installed, carrier's version, but as I am a superuser, I've deleted a lot of useless stuff.
The question:
¿Can I install Xposed framework and GravityBox [KK] in this device?
This is what I'd install if someone here confirms that I can:
Xposed Installer 2.7 experimental1: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
GravityBox [KK] 3.5.1: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.ceco.kitkat.gravitybox
Is it OK?
I've noticed, reading GravityBox's thread, this:
Compatibility
- Supports AOSP devices running vanilla Android 4.4
- Supports Motorola Moto G Dual SIM running stock KitKat
- Supports ThL 5000 running stock KitKat and potentially other MediaTek devices running pure MediaTek ROMs
- DOES NOT support devices running ROMs vastly modified by device manufacturers (HTC Sense, Samsung Touchwiz, MIUI, LeWa, Xperia, ...)
- SHOULD NOT be used with custom ROMs like CM, AOSPA, RootBox, SlimBean and others - it makes no sense since the most of the features are already
in the ROM (may cause conflicts and unexpected behaviour)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Does that mean that if you have a Samsung, Xperia, HTC... mobile, GravityBox won't work due to compatibility issues?
My goal is to change the function of the volume buttons to only modify the volume of "Music, video, games and other media", in every situation, so it doesn't matter if I'm in the home screen, in YouTube App or using Chrome, always change the "Music, etc" volume, not Notification's one, or Ringtone's, or system's. So if I accidentally press volume up, the phone does not changes from Mute to Sound, or changes the volume of the ringtone, and all that stuff. They told me that I can accomplish that with GravityBox.
Thanks, hope someone here can help me out!
Yes you can i have the same device and i installed xposed and gravity box and both worked well

Use the latest (v2.7 experimental1) Xposed.apk file from here.
Not compatible with core 2
I installedxxposed on core2 but it says not compatiblewith SDK 19. I installed a custom rom to make it run, but the rom was unstable so I had to go back to default Samsung core2 rom and now xposed is not working on the default Samsung rom. Amy way to make it run?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core 2 "SM-G355HN". There are other Samsung Galaxy Core 2 models that may behave different. It was very easy, though I did it long time ago, I don't remember well. I just followed the very simple and easy steps. First, I installed the Xposed framework, and then the module Gravity Box (for KitKat). But I don't remember the exact steps I did, sorry.
Same problem..framework wont update...bt i did it 1st time.. after uninstall it i cant update now...in galaxy core2..

Hi I have a N910W8 on 5.0.1. Rooted no custom rom. I have the consumer edition with note 4 modded in. I would like to access the Oculus store to get apps for the note 5. Can I just edit the build prop to n920 with Rom toolbox to get Oculus to think its a note 5. Is it that easy. Thx
I think so
I haven't tryed the oculus store but it works for the theme store.... It's worth a try to see what happens, but it won't hurt your phone...
