Hi All:
First I'd like to say that I Hate Samsung update policies, they are really really BAD.
OK
The Samsung Note 4 have been launched with KitKat 4.4.4, and now most of us have received the Lollipop update which I like to stop with for deep look for the UI change.
My point in this subject is the Lollipop UI and to be specific the WiFi toggle, in Lollipop the WiFi toggle does show the name of WiFi network that you are connected to, without the need for long press on WiFi toggle to go inside the WiFi settings to check to which WiFi network you are connected.
another one thing for example is the Torch Toggle to turn it on & off, before Lollipop there was many apps in play store just to turn the torch on & off, some of this apps even required very huge number of rights to access everything in your smartphone, it was like official Trojans & back doors.
I have checked newer smartphones from Samsung like the J7 with the Lollipop on top of the new UI & it does have the Lollipop UI, where WiFi toggle shows which network you are connected to, and also there is a torch toggle.
Back to the Note 4 with the Lollipop 5.1.1, I feel that from Kitkat 4.4.4 to Lollipop 5.1.1 we have just got only few theme change, but deep inside still every thing is KitKat.
That let me wondering while we are waiting for Marshmallow ........................... Did We Really Received Lollipop ??!!
What do you think guys ???!!!!
i think it's all good, no worries over little things.

So, Hyperdrive Notified me that 7.0.0 was released, and I downloaded it and installed it in my phone. The 7.0.0 edition is for Verizon, after I installed it. There were 2 bugs, but nothing major. 1 issue I am having though is with the Wifi. The Wifi button via the dropdown menu will freeze halfway through when it is trying to light up green, however it never even connects or even looks for open wifi networks. How do I fix this??
Thanks

I'm having the exact problem. The Wifi toggle is frozen and won't turn green. I know for a fact that it's not a hardware issue because when I switch to the stock ROM in Safe Strap the WIFI works without any problems.
Please let me know if there is a fix for the issue. Otherwise I love the ROM but it's hard to deal with the Wifi issue.
notified as well
I got the notification on my phone that there is a new version but I didn't upgrade, for me the hyperdrive 6.10 has worked great!! and I didn't want to mess with it because it works well.......... Also, am a NOVICE at this!! and cannot believe I rooted, and put a custom rom on my t-mobile note 3 not 1 problem!!! and didn't mess up my phone!! I am going to look for another cheap note 3 to experiment with so I don't mess up my current note by adding mods... anyone have a cheap note 3 tmobile I am looking,.. thanks
I was running JDX which is based on the Marshmallow preview and Project Fi was working great without any issues. I recently decided to switch back to a 5.1.1 based ROM due to some other issues on Marshmallow. Since then I have tried both Chroma and Pure Nexus but I keep running into the same issue with Fi. I am able to activate just fine with the Fi app but after awhile I loose mobile data. I stay connected to the network so calls/sms work fine but I get the ! over my network status in the notification bar. A reboot or airplane mode toggle sometimes fixes it. Any ideas on how to permanently fix it or what could be going wrong?

different ones work in different ways across phones, towers, and netowrks it seems based on the results i see on here usually. i tend to start from the newest first for a day or two, see how it does then downgrade if i see a lot of battery drain or poor signal
Since Sony made the official non-beta Marshmallow available for Z3c many people are complaining about wifi issues: wifi connection is very frequently being dropped. I was searching for possible fixes but none helped.
I wonder if anyone knows how to fix those problems and I also wonder if this issue is only present on some special configurations (rooted/unrooted/RecRoot...). so I am starting this thread in hope to find the solution.
Please help with any useful info you can...

UPDATE <July 1. 2016>
Problem solved by choosing "Use legacy DHCP client" at Settings > Developer options.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67561668&postcount=6
exact same problem with me-i wonder if a factory reset makes any difference?
No issues here at all (UK EE) non rooted
i wonder if this issue is somehow connected with the rooting procedure, since i haven't heard of it on unrooted devices...
I have the same issue with my Z3c and concept rom, rooted. But I don't have the problem since beginning. I got the problems after my move. Now I have disabled visibility of network. In my old flat I had the WiFi visible and never had problems.

I found a fix yesterday, googling!
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3/Weak-Wi-Fi-signal-after-Android-6-update/td-p/1113392/page/6
It goes like this:
From settings->developer options I choose "Use legacy DHCP client", which use Loliopop insted the new one client, and everything is OK now.

I tested it and it works. No more wifi droping!
After following the advice reboot the phone (I also did a "Network settings reset" under Settings > Backup & reset before rebooting).
Poor Wifi connection on unrooted xperia x3c

I have acquired Sony Xperia z3c only recently and upgraded the new device straight to MM, so no experience with previous versions.
I think there may be some improvement using the Lollipop DHCP client, however compare with my other phone Samsung S4 mini (Kitkat) the wifi performance is considerably weaker. Measuring wifi with speedtest.net app I get such different results as 6-8 Mbps with Samsung and 2-3 Mbps with Xperia z3c. At other places where the wifi is even weaker (1-2 Mbps), the S4 mini is still capable of downloading stuff, whereas xperia hardly connects and if so then keeps dropping the connection. I wonder whether the issue is possibly linked to the MM battery optimization, as there is no more the option of not saving battery using wifi. Within the optimized processes I've picked "com-sonymobile-wifi" to not optimize and seems to me that the wifi connection has improved slightly.
Any other suggestions in terms of improving wifi performance through power settings?

I did everyting what mentioned earlier, but nothing helps, I flashed back KitKat, and the issue is still here. It doesn't matter if it's rooted or unrooted. So I flashed back the original firmware and sent back to the local sony service because I still have guarantee for it. Now I'm waiting and maybe they can fix it.
WiFi has been spotty on this phone through all the versions of Android it's had. The legacy DHCP option is new to me I may try out out if i get anymore wifi issues

Wait.. 960u1 is unlocked yes? Isn't the updates from Samsung? I mean we have the same hardware and same software. FM should work, it's not dependent on the carrier while WiFi calling night be.
FM live radio is not carrier dependent and does work on the latest update.
So this update repeatedly caused my GS9 to freeze and reboot, kept getting System UI and Samsung Pay Framework has stopped working messages. Finally it reboot and when it came back up, half my **** has been reset to factory. Nova is back to defaults with no backups (I did have at least one saved for my layout), my navbar buttons were put back to defaults, volume set back to default, brightness back to default, even some apps back to their defaults like Chrome.
I am on Tmobile and I know that they had problems with the May patch so they stopped rolling that out but holy ****. I am so damn annoyed that I now have to set all this **** back up again after a SECURITY PATCH. Not even any new features.
Smfh, just be wary if you are on the GS9 from Tmobile and havent updated yet. Prepare to possibly run into problems and back up what you can. Going to spend around 2 hours setting everything up again and reorganizing my apps.

Thanks for the warning. I remember a few years ago on my Galaxy Alpha every device software update used more RAM - the Operating System got larger and a little slower although it was a fast phone.
I am using a TMo S9 which I just got a few days ago ....and noticed the HUGE size of the update.
I have great battery life using a Tmo S9 on Metro PCS - possibly because most of the automatic Apps that load from TMO never loaded because it was never on the Tmo Network [ brand new ].
I noticed one bug that the Phone App is supposed to switch to a pop up [ like Note and Alpha ] if you want while using other Apps or Internet during a call- call turns into an Icon which you can move OR touch again to get full screen- [ it's in the options on the dial screen ] - BUT the update does not fix that or other bugs apparently.
See menu below for' pop up option '.
Great on Note and Alpha for calls when you need to jump on Internet quick during a call..but does not work on S9 ...
One description said the Update aids in' Camera Stabilization ' and security but I think the Camera is just so people will accept download ..lol.
Any decreased battery life or radical differences in Operating System having a much larger O.S. and having less free RAM ?
That's what hapoened with Alpha ..it just slowed down a hair ... less RAM .
Why do they need almost .8 Gig ?

My G960U1 is on a T-Mobile, still on February update(Just this morning received the following update).
(G960U1UES2ARF4/GG960U1OYM2ARF4/G960U1UES2ARF4 696.28MB) Not yet updated.
WiFi Calling - Works
Minimize App down to Icon - Works
Minimize Call App to Icon - Works
(You just need to know how to do that)
=====================
1•During a call, split the screen.
2•Choose the app you want to use during call.
3•Select a Call App.
4•Press on Split Menu.
5•Place Call App on the top layer
(Now you can move it around the screen).
6•Tap on Minimize Button
(Now you can move the App Icon around the screen).
Or even do the opposite, put another app on top of the Call App(See attachment).
You can do that with most of the apps.
FM Chip is ACTIVATED/UNLOCKED
UPDATE!
I did an update as soon as I got to the WiFi.
The first thing that I checked was the FM Chip using NextRadio. "Listen To FM" appeared and was able to use "Basic Tuner" to tune to local stations.
Some people say here that FM Chip still doesn't work.
Make sure you plug in your headphones. Because without it it will NOT work.
Have not tested anything else so far. Maybe will update this post in the future.
I have t-mobile and updated 2 nights ago and it's been working good for me so far. No hickups or anything that I've noticed. GS9+
Ffs will they ever fix the **** battery life of the exynos chipped phones ?
I'm on Exynos S9 UK unlocked and was happy to see that I now have VoLTE after the update, even get a little "HD" call quality icon when using it. Network is EE.

Thanks- yes I see that and can shrink it to a functional mini dial screen or down to Icon - very good.
Have you noticed any problems with the ARF 4 Update - I am stalling it cause my S9 is very very good on battery - SOT very long and I am afraid ARF 4 will change that.
ALSO - the one user who h.g ad trouble with ARF 4 - there is an even NEWER update now ...go right to that one maybe nefore resetting everything (?).
Anyway - I hope these Updates are efficient so they don't heat up the phone AND NOT add background processes which can't be stopped.
Meaning - don't show up in Battery Stats but increase Device Idle current draw on Battery etc .
Baraban - I have the SAME Tmobile Device but use on Metro and am stalling the Update because:
My performance ESPECIALLY SOT on 4GLTE is very very good .
Are you getting great SOT on your Device and that's why you did not Upgrade ?
750 meg for security patches sounds odd to me...
Not a Dev but somehow I don't think I need it if phone working great now ...lol.
I have no sensitive Info on my phone...

Samsung also updated 960U but not U1..
Even with the latest update as of May 2022, my new Tab A8 exhibits Wi-Fi stability issues not seen on the old Tab A7.
After leaving a connected tablet to sleep, Wi-Fi for some apps won't work and only a WiFi OFF + WiFi ON reset will restore connectivity.
Anyone else encountered this problem?
Same - it just won't stay on any network for long at all. It won't connect at all to my VirginMedia router saying 'couldn't get ip number'
Doesn't happen to me from what I've seen... Have Xfinity cable internet together with a Netgear router/modem.
Have you guys done all the system updates?
Yup, up to the latest from April. Tested on 2 devices and it's the same. Factory reset doesn't help.
I'm hoping that if not before, at least the Android 12 update will resolve this.
I just updated to Android 11 firmware update from last week - X200XXU1AVG1 - but the issue remains the same
On Build number RP1A.200720.012.X200XXU1AVC1, no updates I'm aware of. When this happens to me and I toggle wifi off and back on, no networks display. If I toggle airplane mode it they will appear again.
II'm in the USA, using an asus blue cave router.
What's everyone else using?
Anyone know what wifi chipset this tablet uses?
Got the update to Build number RP1A.200720.012.X200XXU1AVG1 it still occurs, and I'm also noticing bluetooth connection issues, both are cured by cycling airplane mode on and off.
Yeah... let's hope Android 12 includes fixes for this... really, the Tab A7 was a much better device with a nicer screen

I reported the issue via Samsung members app with a bunch of screenshots,
SM-X205 is now getting Android 12 but nothing available yet for SM-X200. Will probably take a couple more days
OK now SM-X200 also got the first Android 12 update and the results are... BAD! Still the same issue and I'm quite done with Samsung for now. Unbelievable that they do not test the basic functionality well enough. I expected some WiFi driver updates under the hood but it seems they are oblivious to the fact Tab A8 has issues.
Had the issue one time since the 15th it's not solved but less frequent at least
What I notice now is that the wifi will turn off randomly. If turned back on it reconnects but shortly thereafter bluetooth dies and cycling airplane mode is required
