The title says it all..
Here all the new phones have a new name -> Xi.
Its what Docomo calls their 4G phones.
The old phones+smartphones used a SIM card called FOMA.
I had a FOMA sim card, and I went to Docomo to get it smaller -> Nano size.
They gave me a new FOMA sim card but phone doesnt recognizes it.
They told me at the shop I wont be able to use data connection but I will be able to talk on 3G. which is what I was doing. I stopped with their ridiculous data services long ago.
So now I have a new Z3 Compact, with a new FOMA nano sim card -> which doesn't work cause its not a Xi sim.
Any way to get it working ? at least with 3g connection ?
I dont get any signal even though the phone actually recognizes the sim.
Thanks in advance.
or is it New Docomo Phones + old FOMA sims = no data/no voice at all ?

hi there guys.is it possible to get the XDA2's on the 3G network.A family member want smy old PDA but is on the 3 Network! Need to no if there is a flash,Rom, ect...
Thanks layton
Now theres's 'Three' the mobile operator and theres '3G' the technology.
As I understand it, Three's SIM's can be a pain so it's best to just put the SIM in and see, if you can.
I'm quite sure that you can't get 3G on a BA though, regardless of operator or ROM, quite simply because the BA doesn't have the hardware for it.
About the SIM card: 3UK Sim cards are supposed to only work in 3G phones (different type of SIM card). There are some older 3UK Sims that do work in a 2G phone such as the BA. But 3 will be able to find this out an either send you a replacement Sim, or terminate your contract and make you pay the remainder - you broke their T&Cs.
Network: If you have a 3 SIM that works in your BA, you will not actually be using the 3UK network. You will be roaming onto O2 (or Orange from Jan 2007) permanently. The BA is not a 3G device.
yes i understad that the 3g simcards dont work on 2g phones.but u can get a phone which is on 02,orange...for examplea nokia n70.if the phone is on o2 u can flash with 3G software and will work on three.i was just wondering if it might be possible.this is also possible on sony ericcsson 2g phones.i have the phones to prove it.
You can ONLY use 3G services if your device supports 3G. The Nokia N70 DOES. The BlueAngel DOES NOT.
You don't have to flash the phone with the Network Ops variant, just enter the network settings and it will work that way.
I just got the Tilt and have unlocked it but I had to use my spare Roger's Sim Card for the Tilt to recognize the sim card. The Tilt doesn't recognize the T-Mobile sim card when I insert it. On my other phones it will read it. The sim card is about 3 years old, not sure if the Tilt only accepts larger size sim cards or what. Is there any way to fix this?

How did you unlock it?
It's not necessarily larger sim cards, but 3G sim cards if you need to use 3G. But it shouldn't affect your voice signal.
I inserted a different Sim card other than AT&T, asked for the unlock code and I entered it. Unlock was sucessfull but only with the Roger's sim card, I use that when I travel to Canada. My primary carrier is T-mobile, anytime I insert the T-mobile sim, the tilt says the sim card is missing. I thought there was something wrong with the actual sim card but I just placed them in my K800i and w810 phone and saw the sim card with no problem. I don't care for 3g since T-mobile doesn't support it yet.

Did you try to go into network under the phone settings, and select automatic?
It is set to automatic, the problem is that the Tilt believes there is no sim in the slot when the sim card is in the slot.
if the sim is 3 years old it maybe the sim is actually too old for newer devices
we have found this with some devices with some vodafone devices.
I work on all mobiles (In the US) for a living and due to the old SIM revision, it is too old to be recognized in newer devices software. If you go to the T-Mobile store and buy a new SIM for $15 they will move your service to the new SIM and the Tilt will read it.
I have upgraded to your windows 6 and have a rom version 7.0c40CS, thank you its great, radio version 1.17.00 but my phone provider has now upgraded my sim card to 3G and now my phone does not work, it says no service available yet the card works in any other phone! I have carried out a hard reboot but still no good, can I use 3G? or do I have to go back and reactivate the old 2G sim card?
You are using a very old rom..try this version of the shekhar's rom

Right man! singjim may need to buy a new phone with 3G support then u can use ur sim card
3g simm card
Yes I need a 2G simm card, but when I got the old 2G card re-activated by the provider ( it works in other 3g phones ) I still have no service on the network.
I have updated the ROM as recommended by Ather90 and still it does not work. I have swapped the 2G simm card with a friend and tried his in my phone and it does not work! What a coincidence that my PDA dies when I change the simm card? I'm still lost help please.

Man! upgrade is not effect ur sim card, i think ur provider doesn't support 2G network anymore. I have upgrade my Xda II almost ten times already and it still working.
3g sim card
yes Iagree, I expect sim card is OK so what is wrong with PDA? Why does a reset as complete as a Rom upgrade not reset the phone?
This is the Same Problem i had with my Previous Himalaya..It always showed "Invalid SIM Card" or "No Service"...
i pulled out all of my hairs to solve that problem but it didnt...so i had to replace it...
Does your GSM provider still have their 2G network? If yes, insert your SIM to a SE phone and try it with 3G disabled (SE got a option to disable 3G & to use 2G only). If that also works, try a 2G sim of some other GSM provider in your PPC. Here we dont have to upgrade the sim for get 3G. we can still use the old 2G sim. But to have HSPA or speeds above 512kbps, we need to upgrade to a 3G U-SIM.
re 3g simcard
i use a 3g simcard using latest c_shekhar rom.. and it works.. no problem at all, only the stk doesnt work..
3G sim card
Took it to the XDA repair man who pulled a face at the cooked rom! then reloaded windows 2003 or something very blue and it all works!!! Plus 50$ for the trouble so I cooked it again to 6.1.2a16cs and everything is fine. It seems the phone operator deliberately immobilized the phone to make me buy a new one!! be careful out there.
So I have a bit of a situation that I need to get some answers on. Right now I have a Galaxy S2 i9100 which I bought from expansys back in 2011 when it first hit the market. I've been grandfathered into my unlimited non-smartphone data on AT&T and I was able to use my old 3g sim card on the S2 to and got full blown 4g and 4g+ speeds and service without ever having changed my plan or sim card.
Now here's what I want to know: I plan to get the Xperia Z2 (unlocked and imported, not through any carrier) and I want to be able to use LTE service, but without changing my plan. I know the Z2 uses a micro-sim, but I want to know if I will need to get a new sim card (or can I just cut my regular sim) also will I be able to get LTE with my old sim card? *OR* if it turns out I need a new sim card will I be able to use LTE with it and still keep my unlimited-non smartphone data plan? Will it raise any suspicions? Will using LTE automatically cause my data plan to change?
If anyone has information on this please let me know, Thank you.
Jus go to an AT&T store and have them get you a new micro Sim....put it in one of their store model LTE phones then convert your current plan to allow LTE (doesn't change anything just allows LTE and yes you have to do that otherwise you can't get LTE). Once that is done and the phone works fine take the Sim out and put it in your Z2 and you are off and running.
You have do put the Sim in an AT&T recognized LTE device, meaning one they offer, in order to get the account setup right. After that you can put it in any LTE device and it will work.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z1
Since Australia switched off its 2G network, my second sim card is no longer working.
If I want to be able to use both sims, are there any software fixes I can apply? Or will I have to get a new phone.
