Hello all! I work as a smartphone technician and today a gentleman brought an AT&T model G Flex into the shop where I work because the phone had gone into a bootloop and would only cycle the LG logo on and off without booting fully. He told me that the phone had been flashed to T-Mobile some months ago and had been working been working fine until today.
My dilemma is that I'm not sure how to proceed at this point. My first thought is that an AT&T phone probably wouldn't actually have to be "flashed" (as he put it) to T-Mobile, I'm pretty sure it would just have to be carrier unlocked and then have some network settings changed on it. Thus, my first thought is to try using the KDZ or TOT method to restore the stock AT&T firmware, then go about changing the network settings to T-Mobile's again. But now I'm second guessing myself and wondering if maybe it does actually need the T-Mobile rom or even just the radios flashed to it?? Unfortunately, I'm not much of an expert on GSM networks or even LG software. Generally I deal much more with hardware. Any advice from the LG community would be greatly appreciated!

Can you boot into recovery? Save a nandroid back up and reflash?
I think its pretty safe just to reset it and start fresh.
Sim unlock is pretty simple, if it actually needs it....

Turns out I had it backwards, it is actually a T-Mobile that was being used on ATT but no matter. Turns out I can't get it to boot to download mode or recovery mode anyway. I must have tried holding volume up with the phone off while plugging in the usb 50 times today. No luck. All I can get it to do is bring up the hard reset option, which I have tried to no avail. Any ideas on how to get this thing into download mode? Really appreciate you taking the time bud

Plug it into your computer, try and get it to show up on your device manager. If you can get it to show up you can use the lg flash tool.
Download mode is holding volume up as you plug your phone into your computer .
Its strange how it would just all of a sudden loop.
I forgot to ad that I think recovery mode has a "black" screen. Not 100 percent sure on this , someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also there may be a better solution over in the LG G2 section of XDA. Software is pretty much the same as the flex.
Wish I could be more help.

Found this over in the G2 section. Hopefully you don't have to deal with all of this.....

If you could get your computer to recognize the phone , it will be a ton easier for you.
Ha! It worked! Really appreciate all the trouble you went to finding that for me sir!

Update your OP in case anyone else is having the same problem. Help has been really rare around here lately.
Glad you got it.

I have researched and researched but haven't quite found someone with the same exact situation as me.
I had flashed back to stock using odin one-click. Everything was good and dandy untill i decided it would be a good idea to check for updates. In the middle of the update it froze. I gave it some time but nothing seemed to happen so i cancelled the update. It then told me it was going to reboot. When the phone shut off, it really shut off. Nothing works the phone won't turn on, won't connect by usb, 3 button combo is also a no go. The only thing i really have left is to try the jig. Does anyone have a information on this problem or if jiggin will work. Anything will help me with my anxiety at this point. Thanks

Depending on the update yeah it happens. if a 3 button wont work your best bet is a jig. It is cheap to make and should work.

Not if you used Odin to go back to stock. Plus, if you can't get into download mode, chances are that the people at the exchange center aren't going to be able to get into your phone to check anyway.

Thanks for everything. It all worked out great. The jig didn't work, so i just went into att and said that my phone wouldn't turn on this morning, and they replaced it no questions asked.
This is why we need to stop universally telling people to odin 1 click all the time. it bricks the new phones and you need a jig to fix them.

This is not true... the Odin One-Click has worked perfectly with my phone, and it's one of the newer ones. It's because he canceled midway during the update. The same thing happened to me when I canceled something midway after an Odin One Click, and then nothing would go into Download mode. I brought it back to Radio Shack and the guy tried everything (including a jig), but couldn't get it into Download Mode either, so they just replaced it.
If you have a build 1010 phone or newer, be aware that you are playing with fire if you 1-click.
Hi guys,
My Galaxy S i9000 came with stock 2.1. I then upgraded to stock 2.2.1 via Kies a few months back. Phone is not rooted. Has been working fine until last night where, after switching it on, it gets to the Galaxy Logo on startup but then just vibrates (error) regularly and never boots up past that point. Ive taken out battery, charged phone fully etc etc... but no luck.
Heres the kicker - I cant get the phone into recovery or download mode. It just doesnt work. The phone is not "locked" to my provider as I've used it with other sims, however it does have a Vodacom (south africa's vodafone) splash screen after initial boot. Not sure if that has anything to do with it...
So, basically, I cant boot into the phone and I cant give it a hard reset because I simply cant get into recovery mode. Im stuck in no mans land and am desperate at this point. So far, all the stuff I've read involves actually having booted up the phone, which i cant do! (ODIN etc...)
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Aran
search around for a jig: if you are good you can make your own or if not you can buy one on ebay etc...
wats a jig? Is that the micro usb with the transistor thing? where can u find one? A friend of mine is a genius he may be able to make one. Any more info?
jig?
yes a jig is used to put the phone into download mode,i suggest buying one rather than making one, look here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Download-Mo...Accessories&hash=item2310a33bcd#ht_5021wt_906
5 dollars is quite cheap if you want to save your expensive phone, look at the ebay site for your country the link above is for the US,you can also try amazon.com/co.uk or other sites like this
thanks. if possible i will ask my friend to make one as I will have to wait ages to get that to south africa. do you know of any sites that show you?
lastly, is this the only way I can get my phone to be reset? Is there no way I can plug it in to a PC via USB and somehow force a reset or put it into a mode?
Strange, and it doesnt reboot into recovery when you hold vol-up home and power?
What did you do before the phone stopped booting?
if you not have flashed anything and got no intensions to flash to get root i would.advice you to take it to customer service so you dont void the varanty, no need to risk it if you dont need it

Hi guys,
I recently used rom manager and flashed the wrong clock work mod to my phone, more or less trying to get cm7/9 on my galaxy s captivate, now my phone does not get past the 'Samsung SGH I896' Screen, hard reset does nothing, tried all the key combinations, I work in technical support for all types of phones, and yet I don't know what really can be done with this. I suppose I may be sol. Any input would be appriciated thanks guys.
Try to get your phone into download mode by:
Breathe
Taking out battery
Plug phone into computer
Hold down vol+ and vol-
Insert battery
If it goes into download mode then flash back to stock and stop using Rom Manager. It has nothing for our phones. You can find one-clicks back to stock in this thread
If you can't get it into Download mode that way, you'll want to build/buy a jig.
Thanks for the input, Ill try that out.
If you can't get into download mode, buy yourself a jig to force download mode. works like a charm and they're only about 5 usd
Well then, I've got it into download mode now im just like durr, I have no idea how to get the software on there through kies, I watched that video and im not afraid to admit im a noob at this stuff, my carrier is rogers in canada how do I get the software back on this phone. The one click's aforementioned are for american i897's and I don't think they'd have the proper carrier settings on them.
Excellent, after perving the forums a bit I found a one click fix for the phone and now its fired up and alive again thanks guys <3
You're in luck my beaver-lovin friend.
Another Canuck on the board made some One-clicks to fix problems like yours.

Yeah I noticed those, I work for Rogers WCTS at there corporate centre so these experiences are definitely beneficial. Atleast now I know how to force this phone into download mode, I bet ill save a 100 phones at my job doing stuff like this now xD

Well. You could also try using Odin to flash it? Have you looked into that?
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone is able to help me out with my HTC one M7. My phone has been out of commission since Monday night and I'm all out of options on what to do, I've even tried doing a factory reset as a last resort but that didn't seem to work as it looked like the process just stalled.
Here's a bit of background of what happened: Monday night I charged my phone through the wall outlet and went to have dinner, I came back to check on the phone and it was off. I thought that was odd so when I tried turning it back on I would only ever be able to get to the white HTC logo screen. I'm able to get into fastboot and recovery but after googling solutions and trying the options people have mentioned, it still isn't working. I'm not very tech oriented so I wouldn't know how to flash ROMs or anything like that...soooo, I'm hoping someone is able to explain steps in I'm able to understandr. I don't even know flashing ROMs is possible at this point since whenever I plug it into my PC, the drivers aren't recognized by Windows and says 'failed to install drivers'.
Any help is very much appreciated!! (I signed up to the forum in order to write this and seek help lol)
I haven't done ANY customization to the phone everything is all stock from my service provider so I'm really baffled at how this sudden fail could have happened. There was no OTA update either.

Yes, I did. It flashed to the screen with 2 green arrows in a circle and 1 downward green arrow with a progress bar at the bottom but nothing happens during this period. I left the phone like that for about 30 mins just to see if anything would happen and nothing did.
used this thread to try and return to stock:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e4-plus/how-to/moto-e4-qualcomm-owens-completely-to-t3743441
My **** turned off, now it wont turn on period. Cant go into any kind of download mode NOTHING. I have no warranty, I got the phone off the street. Tried to flash a custom rom did it wrong then tried to return it to stock because I didnt make a backup. I'm ready to throw it at a wall.
It WAS a boost moto e4 plus owens xt1776
If it won't turn on, there's not much you can do. The battery is technically removable, so you COULD try removing it and putting it back in, but I doubt it will help. You might want to see if Motorola will repair it. It's a longshot, but they might help you. I wouldn't tell them you bought it off the street. Just say you don't have a receipt.
I know on older Motorola's, if you plugged them in and let it charge for a few hours, they would turn back on.
But I don't know what you did. It would help if you provided more info on what you did, so we could gain a better perspective.

If he temper any of the device partition than probably it will be a soft brick and should be resolved by the service center guy like i did this before three times with my Moto E4 and it won't turn on. No fastboot mode, no recovery, Just the notification light when connecting to a power source and nothing else. I also got the new IMEI number.

We don't know if he messed with his partitons, though. Without further details as to what he did, all we're doing is guessing.
Sorry about my delay had some stuff go down. Uhm, I followed that thread, ran the commands listed, used a sprint factory instead of a boost, from what i read in that thread, it should have worked. But now I dont even get a notification light when i charge.
I'm having the same problem as him and I feel like I'm making some progress, but I still can't fix it. Here's my posts on what I found from that thread. They are probably better suited here anyway. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76459007&postcount=21

Don't forget that the OEM files are labeled differently for Boost Mobile users, messing that labeling up during fastboot will cause it not to boot as well..

I have the carrier unlocked version. I think the way I bricked my phone is that I OTA updated my phone and then tried to revert back to stock. I've seen a video on youtube of somebody who did the exact same thing and was able to unbrick his phone. I think the main problem right now is I can't find the right firmware files to use in QFIL. The stock firmware zips don't have the right files that QFIL needs
