Other taking 93% of storage? Help please!!!! - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the internal memory it says other is using 93%. All my music and big apps are on external sd card. How do I fix this? I tried *#9900# but the menu will not show when I type it in.

only you can do is hard reset or maybe some advanced file explorer and try to find files using your memory
but if you fail than just make backup with CM backup and hard reset your phone , and enjoy using it again
CM backup find on play store and after hard reset you can easy get back your photos contacts etc

no one knows ????
you're going to have to be a little more specific..........how do you mean disappear? and when does it happen? any other side affects (have to reboot to "make it reappear") ?

I mean sometimes I can change wallpapers through gallery and i see my stuff... then like an hour or two later there's nothing there -- it doesn't detect my SD card hence it "disappears"
I have to reboot about 5 times a day to get it back
what does it say when you open up gallery? when i had an issue with mine, it would say "no sd card" or something to that affect.
or does yours just not show any pictures?
edit: is this your external sdcard or your internal one?

It says "no items" when I open up gallery
have you tried flashing a new rom? or possibly do you have a app killer that might be killing some services?

next time you get the error
run that app
if that still doesn't help
make sure you have no file called .nomedia in the gallery folder or the root of your internal SD

just find your invoice, take it back to the store, and have them replace the phone, that phone obviously have a defective internal SD

if i plug in my phone usb cable in Kies mode
i can still access the Internal and External SD cards in the phone
also in the PC
i find this the most convenient
when using it with the USB Debugging method ON, then i have to manually MOUNT the SD cards for them to work on the PC
but i lose access to the internal SD and External SD when i do that.
that is the NORMAL behavior

[Q] Galaxy Note - Internal Memory low

Hi. My Note's Internal memory (2GB) is almost (< 200MB left) but the applications only take up about 700MB. Using System Tuner I can see there is 1.06GB of "others". Do someone know what this "others" is and how to reclaim some space from it? Thanks in advance.
its also your data from apps and sms etc
Check in system/lost+found.. Delete whatever is in that folder.

For storage cleaning try SD Maid from the market,
to check what is what and how many space it takes you could try Total Commander on PC (Alt-Shift-Enter displays folders size), or one of those Android apps (did not test any of them):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelokment.storageanalyser
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ponpocostep.foldersizechart

Internal SD suddenly became r/o only

Hi,Running on AllianceROM 4.1.2
Was running well when this problem came after my phone crashed and restarted after using phone cam to take a pic.
So when browsing gallery,a notification kept saying "not an error (code 0) could not open the database in read/write mode"
So I realized that my internal SD became r/o.I mounted back to r/w and the notification went away.
However, everytime I take a picture, the internal SD will be back to r/o! But the strange thing is..I have set pictures taken to be saved to external SD card...
Any solutions?
Thanks!

Have you tried fix permissions in recovery?
Hi,
I will try to fix permissions in twrp recovery and monitor..thx for the input!
Hi,
Looks like trying to fix permissions in recovery did not help to solve this problem.
However, the internal SD reverting to read only seems to be event triggered, like taking a photo..but strangely my settings are to store photos taken into ext SD.I have searched around XDA with almost similar problems on this and saw some posts on using su commands to fix it.However,I am unsure on which command to use..can someone point me to the right one?
Thanks!

What camera app you using? Have you tried changing settings to store photos in internal memory?? Maybe to store photos on ext SD, the app prevents writing to internal SD and doesnt revert back to r/w?

I am using the default stock camera. This happened after I was taking a photo and suddenly the screen flickered and shut down(found out was bloated battery issue).Since then, every time I take a picture, the internal SD will change to r/o.

Maybe something broke when the phone suddenly died in the middle of writing to memory...have you tried reformatting your sdcard since the incident? I suggest you give it a try (after backing up, of course, formatting will wipe EVERYTHING on memory!!)

For what, formatting? Use your custom recovery (CWM, TWRP etc.), that's easiest...
You can first try a factory reset, if that doesn't solve it, go advanced and format/wipe your partitions...then flash a new ROM.
(<---Remember to thank me if this helps! :good

Question 12Gb of other in Storage Space

Hey, I am running out on free storage on my device, and I noticed that in the Storage Space section in settings it says that I have 12Gb used of "other". How can I identify what actually is taking that space and clean it? I manually looked in to all folders on my device and could not find anything that big to account for that.

I'll think your main storage consumption is in internal data.
Not rooted means you can't see them and can't delete them.
Seems some apps saved a lot of data.
I guess you've searched in internal storage and you've didn't found huge files....
Unrooted means also you can only delete complete apps to find out which are responsible.
