I just created a complete package, so even the hardest noob can free his device.
In case you mean link TWRP in the Credits, of course I will do that.
Didn't think about that idea.
Thanks, mate.

To get files from official samsung repository you need to have a decryption key and that algorithm is not that hard to keep us out.

It's not a web browser link, it's bit more complicated.
Every request needs a special generated samsung request token, and that's a little developer secret.
In reference to the decrypting I'm still stucking a little bit. I can extract it exactly bit to bit and modify the system.img files, thats not the point.
The point is to get the modified files back into a working .img file that can be integrated along with boot.img and all its components to a .tar.md5 file.
If you want, I upload you all of the extracted system files, maybe two brains are better than one.
But I am sure you are smart enough to get your system.img extracted by yourself, since you released your own custom ROM and a tutorial.

Thought you released your APA3 debloated ROM. Doesn't it work?
If so, we're in the same ****ing boat.
I tried all possible ways, from Windows Tools over Linux ext4 tools but none of them get the right bit size for the image to flash properly.
For god's sake, bljad*.

Due to FAP Lock.
This happens if your device is brand new or while the first ROM flash, due to the stock disabled setting of OEM Unlock.
Resolve:
#1 - Add your Google Account to your new flashed ROM
#2 - Settings - About Device - Tap 7 times on build number to enable developer options.
#3 - Settings - Developer Options - Enable OEM Unlock - Enable USB Debugging.
#4 - Power Off - Remove Battery - Press Power a few times (to eliminate the rest electricity like on a pc)
#5 - Insert Battery - Boot into Download Mode - Continue with Step #12 (Rooting)
If you still have any trouble, let me know.

If that's a fully restorable system, we could swap out the radio image for the one in the OTA update, and the system image could be anything we want, right?
Or will the system image need to be signed for this to work?

Changing the .zip will make it unflashable in stock recovery, unless someone has a key signer for a Droid3 . . . and I'm guessing not Or is this truly something that will work with
Code:
moto-fastboot flashall
However, if an enterprising individual were to flash the stock update/ROM in recovery, then manually flash our radio in fastboot, they might not end up with a brick.
...maybe . . . my recovery is iced, so it won't be me trying
I can't flash the update in recovery :/ otherwise I would try. I do have recovery access though. Wonder if swapping out portions of that xt862 file may be possible..? We need someone with the knowledge!

Just like with the other SBF, do not flash it. Stop thinking about flashing it. Stop thinking about thinking about flashing it. In the best case, you will brick your phone until we get an SBF. In the worse case, the Chinese government is already en route to your location.

I sorta think that's his point, if you know what your doing, you can extract it yourself, it's like a 2 minute process.
I suppose this could be useful for people with really slow internet connections who would rather have just the system.img than the whole thing.

I expect to have a custom recovery up and running by the end of the weekend. I had one a few months ago, and if I still have the setup, I'll have a custom recovery sooner. But I won't know till tomorrow. It'll be CWM, not TWRP unfortunately.
I'm also intending to get a full build of CM10.2 up on the device, complete with all the standard features (with possibly a *few* exceptions, like the virtual mouse support).

Personally, I leave the overclocking to others. While I'm more than capable of modifying the kernel, I'm really more useful focused on things like features and porting. There are kernel devs who spend months focused on overclocking and different governors. I'm usually busy trying to get features ported or add new features (like adding touch to TWRP, or working on the 3D display and camera on the EVO 3D). I'm sure it won't be long until some new kernels pop up, and obviously by the end of the weekend, *someone* will have a flashable root, on top of the root method already posted.
I'm not worried about the overclocking lol that's them over on the Nvidia forums. I just want development to kick off after that everything else is a gimme and will come in due time.

I can upload the files as I already extracted them. The original OP is away from computers at the moment so I was just gonna wait until he gets back as its his thread. =)
If anyone is wondering why the extraction issue is because its needs to be uncompressed in linux where a GUI for licenses accept. If you have urgent need for the files I can post them.
Flash failed
every time i try to flash something on the bootloader it tells me it fails. any ideas?

[G870A][6.0.1] G870AUCU2DPH2 for S5 Active, have ZIP, need upload site

I've followed the instructions on how to pull the OTA files for my S5 Active on AT&T (G870A). I have the file as a .zip and it seems to have the right things for an update in the archive. Size is 929MB.
TL;DR - See reply #7 for download link.
My AndroidFileHost account is not for a developer, so I can't upload yet. I've requested access to upload. I'm currently uploading to Google Drive, but it will about an hour until that is completed. I'll follow up tomorrow, but the end is in sight. I'm running 6.0.1 on my S5 Active and it seems to be doing alright. Definitely less bloatware than the 5.1.1 build.
I will post updates to this thread as I have them.
Edit: same bloatware
My ISP keeps taking me offline about 200MB into the upload to Google Drive. Maybe they think I'm torrenting Mr. Robot S2E9 or something. I'll try dropbox next or wait for AndroidFileHost to give me upload rights.
You can split file using WinRAR.
Right click on your file and select "Add files to archive"
In the opened window, give a new name to your to-be-split file (e.g. G870A_6.rar). Under "Compression Method", select "Store".
Input your desired value inside "Split to volumes, bytes" box, about 100-200Mb
Click OK and you're done.

I wouldn't split the files, considering it's a file that needs to be flashed, too many opportunities for corruption.
With that said, I think Dropbox is your best choice. You could also give zippyshare a shot, it's a fairly popular hosting site with straight forward downloads (ie. No misdirection on download buttons, pop-ups, etc).
Edit
Also, thanks a ton for this, I've been waiting and waiting for someone to upload a zip of the Ota for the Active.
I was able to use the desktop Google Drive sync and I believe the file is intact. Uploading via HTTP is not very reliable.
I'm checking the link now before posting it. Should be ready in an hour or so.

I'm not sure if it's even possible, or if you'd be willing, but it'd be nice to get a checksum created from your original capture. Then we could download the uploaded capture and checksum to verify it's intact.
Here you go
I downloaded on my Mac and unzipped. The archive seems intact. For your flashing pleasure...

I guess I should add an 800x200 signature GIF detailing all the ROMs I run with a request for thanks. Are XDA 'thanks' better than Reddit gold?

I'm not sure if it's even possible, or if you'd be willing, but it'd be nice to get a checksum created from your original capture. Then we could download the uploaded capture and checksum to verify it's intact.

Thank you for the reminder. I edited my previous comment to include the MD5. This was the file off the card, previously named desc.bin, prior to upload.

Awesome!!!
If there was xda gold, you'd be getting it bud, thanks a lot!!!
Now that I finally have the option, I'm really debating whether I'm ready to lose root or not. Another thing, since I'm on of3, I'm not even certain I can use this to update, as you have to be on pa2, 3, or 6?
I no longer have AT&T, nor have those updates been released as flashable zips, so maybe I don't have an option after all. Lol

I was in the same boat. I had to plug in an AT&T SIM to let it get the update. It was on PB5, so it had to go to PB6 and then PH2. I didn't think to try to recover the PB6 update. Sorry.

Well, I no longer have an active AT&T sim card, so I'm likely out of luck, but thanks anyways.
What if I flash PH2 on the OJ3?
is this an ota update from pb1, pb3, or pb6? also I'm still on OJ3, anyone know where I can find a way to update from that.

You guys can try, my guess is it will fail, I'm in the same boat, think we need to be on pb* for it to flash.
Give it a shot and report back, quite a few people are curious, myself included. Worst case, it'll fail and you have to reboot.
Edit
I should add, I would try, but I'm still on of3 and not certain I want to lose root, but you guys already have. If it works, I'll definitely contemplate updating. Good luck!
How would you actually flash this? adb sideload? Put on device and install via recovery? I'm in the same boat and currently stuck on OC5 in Germany without ATT service.

I was on PB5 originally and it wouldn't update. I took an AT&T SIM out of another phone and let it run through the update path. The first thing it went to was PB6 which was 200MB+. The AT&T site mentions that it has to be one of those three to get the update to PH2. After that, the big download started.

As mentioned, it may not work, but to try, rename it to update.zip and flash via stock recovery.

I tried that already, filename doesn't really matter. I looked into the files itself and this update is mostly patches from a previous version so unless you're on one of the approved previous versions this probably won't work unfortunately.
Does anyone have any pointers towards the other OTA updates? If I knew I could just order an AT&T Sim card and proceed through them I would extract every single one of them myself and post them here. Unfortunately I don't even know if an AT&T card will do anything useful here in Germany.

I have scoured every corner of the internet looking for those files, to no avail. And unfortunately, you are correct, I don't believe that it would do any good in Germany.
I'm glad I at least have root, for those stuck on oj3, I'd be pretty upset. Anybody able to get us a required pb* Ota capture, please do, you'd be a hero!

Any ToT file for disabling big cores?

Hello everyone.
Unfortunately my lg g4 bootlooped. And after extensive Google search, i see that most models have a tot file which disables big cores so u can run the phone on the small cores
Does the T-Mobile variant have such a tot file? if yes then can somebody give me the link? if no then can somebody create one using the following info?
Agimax said:
Why not just edit the files below for the two large cores (if you have root):
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu4/online (open file and change from a one to a zero)
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu5/online (open file and change from a one to a zero)
You could also just have the startup file do it (can modify the ripped system partition & put back on phone):
etc/dir/init.qcom.post_boot.sh (find your processor code - 8992 and add echo lines there with the rest of the cpu commands)

Well he also created modified boot images which disable the big cores. Can't someone create that for our device?
maybe @steadfasterX can

TWRP installed?
Then u could just modify the init file but I believe its too late. once bootlooping the run is over afaik.

yeah I'm bootlooped
Someone also fixed the Nexus 6 bootloop by creating modified images which disable the big cores.
Can't we(mostly you, you're the big dev) create a similar modified image that we can flash through LGUP?

Afaik you need a box to create tot files.
Besides this I have never created any big core disabling but I know @the_naxhoo has.
if you can reach the download mode you could flash with the lglaf shell a modified boot image which is doing the job. If you do not have Linux get your copy of FWUL which has everything on board (like the lglaf shell).
The modded boot image has to disable the cores either by the cmdline or the sys echo or both. I saw that cmdline thing during my unlock attempts and think those are much better then the echo to sys..
Creating a kdz would be maybe possible
creating a TWRP zip for sure but I'm very very busy at the moment...
So just one more time (as still not answered.. ) do you had TWRP installed before the bootloop occurs?
...and If so what happens when you try to get into it?
.

I even asked @XCnathan32 who just fixed the Nexus 6p bootloop to have a look into our device maybe he can benefit from this information u just posted.

Cmdline is how I disabled the cores on the Nexus, the fix is easy to do on a boot.img, but LG uses the KDZ files, which use a totally different file structure, and I'm not sure if the LG flash tool has file checks, even on unlocked bootloaders. I will do some research and see what I can do. If anyone has any knowledge on modifying kdz files, please tell me.

asked steadfasterx about kdz and his reply is as follows
steadfasterX said:
me too. never created KDZs yet but there are tools for it - afaik.
My first approach would have been to flash the boot image in the download mode with the lglaf shell (https://github.com/steadfasterX/lglaf/tree/g4) .
requires to do a flash of a modified boot image with dd on /dev/block/mmcblk0 with the correct seek ..
