Thanks! I'll try this.
edit: installation went fine, optimizing system/apps right now.
To those who install. The update process sits at 92% for a very long time. Do not worry just wait. You will think something's gone wrong but no eventually it will complete.
Woking like a champ on my Mate. Awesome of you to share this.

Feedback so far
Here are my findings so far showing differences between Lollipop with EMUI 3.1 and Marshmallow with EMUI 4.0 on L09
:good:NEW - Ability to set mobile data package allowance (although its not possible to change the cycle date)
:good:FIX - Smartwindow Cover - notifications now show in the correct position through the window
:good:FIX - When all haptic feedback disabled, this also applies to the navigation buttons so they don't cause vibration now
:good:NEW - Smart notification pull down (2 Options....(1) Smart = If there are notifications then dragging down notification bar will show notifications, where you can then swipe sideways for quick icons, or if there are zero notifications then dragging down will immediately show shortcuts (2) Notifications Left Shortcuts Right...with this option, dragging down on the left shows notifications whilst dragging down on the right shows shortcuts
:good:NEW - Battery percentage can now be displayed INSIDE the battery icon
:good:IMPROVEMENT - Improved app icons, much better looking (Google Play Store for example)
:good:IMPROVEMENT - Longer predicted battery life using Smart battery Mode instead of Performance Mode (1hr10 extra in my experience)
:good:NEW - Marshmallow App permission settings and moved Protected App Settings into individual app settings
:good:NEW - Some other Marshmallow features such are greater battery usage stats
NEGATIVE - Guest mode no longer currently available (might be just an issue during beta testing)
NEGATIVE - Still no way to set an App as Sensitive in order to hide sensitive content on lockscreen
I'm only a few hours into testing so will update with any other findings. But largely, its much smoother than Lollipop and seem a little bit quicker.
I will also email my feedback to Hauwei

... and ACR stop recording my calls
@ChronoWerX:
hope you get it fixed again somehow!
@chato.pl:
and how does this affect performance? going thru homescreens or in the appdrawer is slower? or does Nova not function at all?
@brumgav:
thx for the writeup, I like the way the status bar pulldown behaves with the 2 options you outlined.
I just went thru a long blog post with all the new marshmallow features. it was of course based on the naked aosp but maybe hopefully most of them make it to Huawei, Samsung,... too. how about the feature in marshmallow where you can now choose which icons appear in the status bar or not? all the icons can be activated or deactivated (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC,...) so the status bar gets less cluttered. did that make it into Emui 4 as well?
thx,
vercetti.
@vercetti I don't see any difference between Lollopop and Marshmallow - for now, at least.

I've got the answer form the ACR's developer:
HUAWEI phones stopped supporting call recoridng on Andoroid 6. Try setting recording delay to 5 seconds and try again.
If nothing works, try other Audio Sources like VOICE_COMMUNICATION. Set to MIC if all fails and use call recording with speaker. This will be same with any call recoridng app.

With systemless root it should be possible. (beta supersu 2.67) worked fine with p8 lite and beta test build of marshmallow. Flash latest supersu beta ZIP in twrp.
And as always do a system backup in twrp before so you can easily switch back
Have tried yesterday the supersu b2.67. No luck. Bootloop; But in the explains of the b2.67 it says tha I first must install a changed boot.img but I think that's not out for the mate s. Or I'm missing here something?

Youre right , we need a modified boot.img first.

Hi, I build a ROM few days ago for this device based on official stock.
Main features:
- 100% Based on the latest official stock (ZUI_2.3.044ST).
- Removed system applications and Chinese apps do not consider essential.
- Play Store and minimum gapps already integrated.
- English Language and European time zone set from the first screen.
- Root, SuperSU and busybox added.
- Vega Music app preinstalled as music player.
- AdAway tool ready to play.
- Utility to lock screen with a single press (Lock).
- Speaker and headphones volumes increased.
- Other minor tweaks.
CHANGELOG:
[v2.1] (2016-11-15)
- Some apps updated and others clenaned.
- Added init.d support.
- Fixed volume increases.
- Replaced stock chinese browser by UC Browser.
[v2] (2016-10-22)
- Update to stock firmware ZUI_2.3.044ST.
Some considerations:
- To install the ROM, you must have unlocked bootloader and changed the original Recovery (recommended below).
- As in the original firmware, the original languages (English and Chinese) are maintained.
- Desktop icons shaded correspond to applications that are not included in this ROM, you can delete the icons or download applications directly pressing them, if interested.
- The app System Update is not removed, but is not operational with rooted/unlocked bootloader. It is useful to restart directly to Recovery.
- The security application detects Adaway tool as virus. You can ignore the warning or delete. It was downloaded directly from the official version, it's supposed to be safe.
- There are several versions of Recovery out there, which is indicated below which has been tested and has given no problems recommended. It is in Chinese / English, to start the Recovery the first time select the option to change it to English.
WARNING:
Please, first of all make a FULL Recovery backup before install.
DOWNLOADS:
LATEST ROM: ZUK_Z2_Pro_Gedeon_v2.1.zip (1,12 GB)
ALTERNATIVE DOWNLOAD: ZUK_Z2_Pro_Gedeon_v2.1.zip
PREVIOUS ROM: Zuk_Z2_Pro_Gedeon_v2.zip (1.12 GB)
RECOVERY RECOMMENDED: TWRP-3.0.2-20160712-ZUK_Z2_PRO-CN-wzsx150.zip (23.44 MB)
Say thanks, its free.

Cool, thanks, just installed this rom, pretty neat. Not been able to activate the google assistant, not your ROM fault, but tried multiple forums and still no go.
Edit : Figured out a way to activate the assistant, need to enable the onscreen navigation and then select the home button.
The camera is laggy and is taking time to launch and the onscreen filters in the app doesnt work as well.
Have been using for 2 days now. Most usable ZUI so far IMO. Definitely a daily driver for me.
I experienced no camera problems, unlike @anupsnair .

Edit : The camera started working after clearing the cache. Now for some reason VOLTE / HD calls arent possible, I reverted to the old backup and it seems fine there.
@recoba23, how do u go about changing the volume of the headset and speaker, is it a build.prop edit or any other steps ?

Camera system and VOLTE calls options have not been modified, so they should work like the original firmware.
There are many explains and mods for change volumes, if you want to learn I recommend you take a look.
Great job! Another ROM for Z2 PRO. Love how the development is picking up speed on this amazing phone!

But i hvae a little problem: When i try to add a digital clock widget from a third party provider (like google clock app) the app shows me after phone was in stand-by "loading" for the app and nothing happen.

Who can help?
I come from MoKee-CM13-Build for Z2 Pro.
I install this TWRP and the ROM (2.1).
Ower the restart i see the ZUK-Start-Screen and over free Minutes the phone shut of.
Can someone please provide an alternative download link? I am constantly getting 'connection lost' and there is no possibility to resume download, so I have to start from scratch.

Same as original firmware.
Hello, will there be a "[ROM] Gedeon" on the ZUI_2.5.335_ST?
Does it worth do a downgrade for 2.5 for this ROM? I don't know why I'm having problems with quick charger in the 2.5. (is it possible that a dirty flash by OTA made this?). I'm only concerned about the camera on this ROM.

I think it's a normal zip you can flash in TWRP but I am not sure. There are no informing sticky threads or smth like that.
@op can you add a simple 4 step flashing instruction to your threads? In this case everybody knows what the heck he should do.
Work perfectly on A720F! ? nice rom

It works ?
After a couple of days using this rom i have to inform you:
1) Battery life is the same as Android 6.
2) It is smoother than Android 6.
3) The camera on selfie mode seems to have the same issue (focus is not working correctly on Android 6, taking blurry backgroud photos)
4) One theme added on always display and Icon style as S8.
5) Obviously Secure folder and Samsung Health not working due to Knox 0x001.
6) Magisk Superuser is working correctly.
7) Screen sensor is not working on calls, the screen is on.
8) Finger print is faster and more precise.
I recommend to use debloat script in this forum. I also recommend to flash nougat version with odin and then TWRP and flash this rom.
And I have some particular issues:
1) Divine Viper4Androd is not working, Drivers are installed but not enable.
2) Permissive mode cannot be enabled. It always sets again to Enforcing
3) Dolby sound is working but app crashes continuously.
4) SuperSu is not working. It says "binary Ocupated"
5) I would like to make my speaker louder but i cannot find the option for this model.
I will add more info when I can.
maybe but yet its a full stock

1) On nogat, flash TWRP (this count knox to 0x01)
2) Flash via TWRP This ROM, configurate it, and then flash Debloat script.
You cannot flash debloat or this ROM without TWRP. But you can use Package Disabler Pro (for example) and disable all the app that you don't like without rooting or flashing anything and keeping warranty.
It is not more stable, it is more light due to uses less ram for app that you don't use...
Great job, works well.
Just the calendar is for Viet Nam. Looks like can't change it anywhere.
When I first boot this ROM, it looks like Thay language but as any Android setup, first thing is to pick install language (English in my case). All goes perfect from there, just the calendar is localized - Month Calendar Widget, for example, picks VN hollidays list and displays some text in VN.
Aside that, it's a great ROM!
IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM! the battery life is much much better than the usual. google may be annoying at first because it keeps saying "Google suddenly stopped" but after updating it from google play, it was gone.
hi guys...
this rom for single sim or dual sim?

Just wish you could make status bar icons use logo of the actual apps. Also.. Google play games keep crashing when trying to play games.. Hi.. I mean icons of app.. Like chrome notification you see the chrome logo.. Outlook notification you see the blue icon of outlook. Instead all the logos in status bar are generic. Can't know if I got email or sms.. Icons are the same. By the way.. I was using micro gapps.
Works good! Is there any way to disable on screen navigation bar? Bluetooth keeps saying has stopped working when turning it on. Any idea about this?

JUST FOR FUN...no more no less...
BEWARE, All of these builds are in progress. So, do accept the possible issues.....
Updates will follow when ready
Latest Build : 20180821 ------>latest : A2017X_NitrogenOS-P-20180917
Your device will show "A2017G"...don't worry and ignore
As I am following the Pie (9.0.0) Nitrogen GSI build for MiMix2 and because it’s evolving quite well, I thought to follow up this project and give you updates when ready.
I converted the rom into a flashable twrp zip…easy right
Just follow with me the installation ...
Pre-requirements
*unlocked bootloader
*B12 bootloader / if you're already on it no need to reinstall
*twrp3.2.1-8 treble running
*a proper backup taken !
*installed vendor partition with Miflash
Installation
1. wipe system, vendor, data, cache
2. Install the treble v1.1 from NFound
3. Install my A2017X_9_NitrogenOS_20180821
4. Install the 3 post-sGSI file in order ! and be sure /vendor is mounted
5. Reboot
If first boot won’t start, force reboot. It’ll boot…wait a minute
After installation
*create an account and sync whatever you want to do
*Pie-NFC-fix thnx @kountry83
IMPORTANT : this fix works on other Pies too - up to you to test and see
*if you don’t hear anything when making a call just flash the incall2.zip (mount vendor and system), no need to update gms, reboot, make a call (toggle the loudspeaker in needed)
*there is an inbuild nav bar setup
*if you want to reverse softkey buttons, flash this
*perhaps you need to set your network to 'global' in settings
*rest is up to you....
What’s working by default :
Playstore
FP
Wifi Hotspot
Call (echo as to all PPR1 builds - possible fix with Volte running and some build.prop lines as Kountry83 did...)
BT
Auto-brightness
Personalizations in settings (building up as updates come)
Notifications - on lockscreen
Notification led
Vibration
NFC : works with Pie-NFC-Fix thnx @kountry83
Camera - with camera2api module the level3 is enabled afaik
Magisk 16.7
Adaway
iYTB
No overheating (cpu on normal loads/interactive / 44 C)
No lag
…
Not working :
DT2W

Depending on what you do, but tested on build 20180819 and drained battery as PPR1 and having the 5h SOT as before. Guess i'm having a good battery :cyclops:

No tint, at least not on mine. Echo is still there on my phone. For some annoying (as for me) for some it doesnn't. Fix still to come on all PPR1 builds. Hope there will be one soon.
But the progress as to customization is growing. Power menu, custom status bar... future will bring more to that.
Positive on these builds are playstore/services are running by default., camera by default,...
No lag, no heating
So fairly good imo.
Keep you updated !
edit : camera2api module ----> level3
Use the Magisk 5.8.3 unofficial.apk to pass safetynet.
Remove your existing one and install this one.

Ok, thanks
Just curious: is an overall dark theme (amoled, even) possible with this like it was in LOS 14.1?
All those white backgrounds must surely have an impact on battery (not to mention my eyes)...

I will when they are ready. I'll keep this updated, no worries
Very good rom, can be said to be the most 9.0 rom now, please continue to modify, thank you!
This looks like a good working ROM. I have some questions :
1. In the OP, there is no mention of installing GApps. Are they included in the ROM?
2. Do we need to unzip the file to get the image file to install?
The other general question would be the 3 post-sGSI files (step 4). Do we always need to flash these files for every treble ROM we install on Axon 7? Say, if I want to install pixel experience 9.0 treble ROM, should I also flash these 3 files?
Thanks.

1. there's no need to install Gapps. You can as you want to but Play Store is working by default as mentioned in OP . Next build you'll be necessary to install Pico gapps.
2.No need to extract my rom. It's a regular twrp zip
As for the 3post files, do follow the OP's guide when mentioned using them...there's some contradiction though in use of them, even in using them all. For now, here it's necessary. Do try without, you'll see....
I'm running this as my daily. Only nfc missing. I don't get the same personal settings menu you have in pix. They are there but blank. Status bar, navbar, most of the others are blank. Buttons and power menu show up... Strange

OK. Most of the personalization is still in progress. On 0821 you should see the statusbar settings, navbar custom, battery custom, clock and full power custom menu.
Btw, flash the magisk 16.8 / passes safetynet check

No, CSC remains the same.
I changed my CSC to XEU, now I can see the banner for OneUI 2.0 beta program,
But cannot register because I don't have UK sim card.
Looks cannot see this banner or cannot register anymore once I upgraded to OneUI 2.0 by sideload, right?

As the previous year, every beta release should be shared from a fellow member on his good will and applied manually. There is no way to get the OTAs or initial beta rollout if you are not with a UK sim card (in that case or other country if they release it there and the build is for there).

Well, it's quite solid for an Initial Beta.
I like the Google Nav Bar gestures, but man i need to get used to it, really struggling to understand "Recent Apps" switching.
What i absolutely loved was the reintroduction of white listing apps on Device Care/Battery.
Obviously, there are some annoyances too.
One was the empty and useless space that is left under the keyboard, which later i found out can be removed on the Nav Bar settings.
Force Dark Mode on developer settings seems to force a few eye damaging apps in to somehow-darkmode that dont support it, which is acceptable especially for Facebook, but weirdly seems to convert a few Dark Mode compatible apps back to a mixture of Light and Dark mode, in this case, Facebook Messenger is rendered useless.
That said, this is a beta and was very much expected. Next to be seen is battery life, which of course i am not having any hopes there either. Pretty sure it'll be hard to match the 24h battery life with 7h SoT.
Is the stock only way to go or is there a root option for Q beta?
Like flashing on top of rooted Pie or using the Pie root method etc.

My only annoyances apart from some little hickups:
Stock samsung internet browser not working without private dns somehow. Beta samsung internet works fine.
Some stutters, flashes with app switching.
Lasly, random appearence of google assistant hints while gesture hints are off.
Oh I forgot to add, battery info is horrible, no screen on time etc and it is a bit buggy when you click to times.

Sorry this is not what I meant but sentence is clearly wrong. There is SOT but it is for the day, not from unlock as far as I understood.
