Sony Bridge "Repair Xperia Device" - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was checking out Sony Bridge for Mac hooked up to my Z3 Compact. What exactly does the menu option "Repair Xperia Device" do? I can't find anything in the documentation. Thanks.

It will reinstall Your current rom, something like factory reset.

O.K., thank you. That will keep me from trying it just to see what it does.

[Q] Xperia Z Update troubles

Hello,
I recently bought a -used- Xperia Z.
The Xperia Z was in a new condition and ofcourse with a clean factory reset and empty internal storage.
But however i cannot seem to finish updating my Xperia Z.
I tried updating it to the newest software trough the phone, trough PC Companion and Sony Update Service... however no luck so far.
I keep getting the following erorr: ''the phone contains modified software that can not be updated'''
Please, does anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks for any help

not update,click repair.
In your dial pad type *#*#service#*#*
Go to service info and then to configuration.
If it says bootloader unlocked you cannot update using pcc.
Read around a little and learn how to use flashtool in that case. (either way I would recommend you learn how to use flashtool anyway. It's the best software for Xperia phones around)
Good luck!

the only thing i can recommend is repair via sony suite,
if that doesn't work, just send it back in for repairs.
it sounds like an internal storage issue. my incredible S did similar things shortly before it died.

thanks, i did that and sony pcC says " no new software update for your device" :/
i flash many .FTF's and the XZ make a bootstall but that's all
any other solution?
Try to repair it using SEUS or Flashtools, i think SEUS is best solution. It looks like you need to wipe all your user or system data, because it's not just bootloop. Just download this awesome tool, connect your phone in flashmode and if there is no new update just tick repair and let it be.

Try it with Sony Update Service. That should work. Just download the program on the Sony website.

Xperia T won't unlock/stay in fastboot/flash mode/MCAFEE pwned it

First of all, I don't have any knowledge on Xperia phones(Nexus 4 user)(had unlocked a se xperia neo v once but it pwned my brain)
Secondly, this idiotic 15 year old installed Mcafee and doesn't remember the password. I tried rebooting into recovery and doing a factory reset but it turns out Xperia phones don't have a recovery(??) (lame)
Thirdly, I clicked on 'forgot pin' on mcafee app when xperia boots, but it says I don't have an internet connection. THEN HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO RESET THE DAMN PASSWORD?? (The sim has 600+ mb data)
Fourthly, oh my god who the hell uses such crap apps if they cannot even remember a password?
I think I got it. Managed to reset mcafee security but it won't get past lockscreen. And the kid can't explain through the phone(it's the son of my friend's friend) Thing is I will get paid for fixing it and installing CyanogenMod. So, it's urgent for me.
Maybe I could try using Google's own service for remotely wiping data? I will tell m friend to ask for his gmail, but the faster the better. I can't stand unresolved things.
I will try Sony Update Service with the LT30_9.2.A.1.205_CH.rar thing
Wow you guys are fast, thanks for helping! /s

No root and I don't believe the kid has enabled usb debugging. Plus, I cannot get past the screen pattern as he cannot explain it (he's Ukrainian and I'm Greek, so I need my friend to translate) I have downloaded the Sony Update Service but it doesn't list Xperia T under the devices. I also got an .ftf file which I don't know what to do with it.

By sony update service do you mean Sony Pc Companion? when i broke my T(rooted) without access to recovery and, before i learned about flashtool i used Sony PC Companion's support zone to repair phone and install stock ROM and so i had to root my phone again. If this DOES work for you here's the link to Flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 or you can download DooMLoRD's easy rooting toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333577 . for rooting purposes. Hope this helps :good: Oh and keep the .ftf file, it''l be required if you choose to use flashtool after rooting
Ps. to enter Flashmode you have to keep holding down the volumeDOWN button while you plug in the phone.(Not sure, But the GREEN LED light will lightup. for fastboot it's the opposite, VolumeUP button.(BLUE LED) might have mixed up the buttons )
PC companion couldn't work because I couldn't get pass through the lockscreen pattern. The tried explaining it when my friend first contacted him but he didnt make any sense, he said. xD
I tried flashtool and downloaded latest firmware, everything worked awesome! I have disabled some apps as well as mcafee so he won't do the same mistake again. Thanks guys!
Back to my Nexus 4 goodness, oh my god that was a nightmare compared to samsung and nexus. xD
heheh, Glad i could help Bro

Recovery mode to unlock forgotten PIN

Hi,
so i got my XZ1 compact today, started the android setup and immediately forgot the PIN to unlock the phone.
I tried to reboot into recovery for a factory reset (since its brand new, I have no data to backup), however Volume Up + Power does not boot into recovery mode (Volume Down + Power also wont work).
Is there another trick to get into recovery, maybe via USB ?

ADB's not playing nice with my XZ1C, probably due to no bootloader unlock. Is there a "Forgot PIN" option on the lockscreen?
IIRC, Sony stock firmware does not have recovery. Maybe try reflashing the phone using Xperia Companion or Flashtool?
A quick search gave me this
