PowerBot Wireless Charger DILEMMA?? - G4 Accessories

I have three LG batteries for my LG G4, and with one of those batteries, the phone starts charging immediately when I place it on the PowerBot charger on my desk.
However, neither of the other two batteries will get the PowerBot started up, even though the phone configuration is exactly the same for all three batteries.
All three batteries charge OK in the LG charger, and also when I plug directly into the USB port on the phone. However, I much prefer to use the wireless charger, but I'm completely baffled by this problem.
Does anybody have an idea what's causing this???

Wish I could help ya there. I have a PowerBot charger too, and an aftermarket battery, works fine on that battery or the original. It could be something with the wireless charging receiver in your case, have you tried a different one?

That's Probably It

Guapo--I've just about reached the same conclusion. I do have another antenna, and I think I'm going to give that a shot and see if it solves the problem. I can't think of anything else that may be causing the problem.

Can Milestone charger be used for OB?

I'm about to use a Moto Milestone 1 charger for OB but I'm afraid that it may harm the phone. Both phones are listed with MicroUSB 2. Any tips?
thanks
Don't worry.. it will work Ok, but OB charger has 1000ma, if you use another charger that has let's say 500ma (like USB) it will take 3 hours to charge the phone instead of the regular 45 minutes!
I use a samsung cable directly from USB, the car USB port, a samsung 5530 charger, a LG optimus one charger, and they all worked, with various degrees of effectiveness!
The most useful one is the car's USB port that, even if it cannot keep up with the GPS (it charges slower than the battery drains), it can keep the phone running with 10% loss every hour with screen activated and GPS at the same time! The problem is that I hate radio and don't use CD's that much, and usually end up with the phone depleted before I reach the destination!
Thanks man! Ok I'll check that "ma" thing. BTW is it written on the battery or charger?

Both places; battery specify working and standby V and mA, charger specify the V and mA provider
So you can use almost every different charger if the specs are the same, but be aware of this: don't use a charger with less mA since it can burn the charger
Ma - miliamps.
How many milliamps in 1 watt/volt? The answer is 1000.
I assume you are converting between milliampere and watt/volt.
I never had a burnt charger by the way, that would be very strange considering that the phone is accepting 500ma from the start (that is the USB output on any PC), and I even saw chargers with a power of 2W (SUPER FAST CHARGERS). The Motorola chargers are 850 ma usually, so it should work quite good!
Indeed, it's very strange to have a burnt charger and we don't need to go into an electrical discussion but that happens because of 2 possible things, very high-peak of voltage or prolonged use of under-voltage

Thanks. Printed on my Moto charger is 850mA so I'll rather use it for my OB next time.
BTW, currently I'm using a replacement charger for my OB with a name "super charger" printed "4.5v - 9.5v 800ma"
It's charging at normal duration in fact I'm using it for days. The only problem is that my OB touchscreen freaks out if I use it while that charger is connected. It's obvious when I run the multitouch testing app because touch points run all over the place. Touchscreen goes back to normal if I disconnect the charger. I tested that "super charger" to my milestone and the same abnormal thing happens to the screen. What causes it?
Probably it's something to do with high voltage... I'd avoid using it if something like that happens to my phone..
Usually the USB style chargers are pretty standard... the speed with which they work are strongly related to the power (Amperes) they provide, the voltage "should" be pretty standard!

Battery experts say to try and use a charger that's rated half the power of the battery.
So for a 1500 mAh battery, a charger of 850 mAh should be a better option than a 1000 mAh one.
Yes, the 1000 mAh charger would charge the battery faster than the 850 mAh one but it will decrease the lifetime of the battery faster.
Just for be able to post new thread. Sorry.
Hello, I don't want to start a new thread so I'll ask here.
The charger that came with my OB seems to be damaged. It was working properly until last last night. My phone detects the charger but it won't charge. Got powermax turned on and it automatically turned off when I connected the charger, so I know my charger does have issues.
Tried banging the charger last night, connected it to phone and started charging, woke up to see that it stopped charging 2 hours ago. It didn't even fully charge my phone. Now I'm charging it with my pc via the USB cable. I noticed that the touch screen goes wild when I use it while connected with the USB.
Now, I'm planning to buy a Galaxy S2 charger. Is it safe to use? S2 and OB has almost the same battery capacity so I'm considering it. Any other suggestions? OB ain't popular here in the Philippines so finding accessories is a real pain in the a**.
Fitted a Corby 2 charger and it seems like they use Mini-usb too. Haven't tried charging with it though.
My original charger also died... Now I use the one that came with my bluetooth headset
So I guess using the OB charger on other stuff is okay too. USB is always ~5v.
You need to test the charger with something else to be sure, though.
I had the same touchscreen freaking out problem with my old LG KS20, whenever I charged it. Like it was shorted or something. So it maybe a problem with the phone itself.

So, you agree that I use a Galaxy S2 charger? I think it would be fine since my friend with an S2 used my charger to charge his phone and it went well. I'll ask him to buy me one tomorrow. Tnx for reply
Ok kabayan, don't forget to share here the result after u try gs2 charger. I too am looking for safe alternative to my milestone charger.
Standard port - standard voltage
Don't even bother, if it has a micro USB it should be fallowing the same standard as USB for charging (5V)...
Of course test the charger for any adverse side effects like screen flickering or short battery life, and don't use it if something like that occurs, but because of the standardized voltage and the fact that usually phone chargers have between 500 - 1000 mA, 99% of chargers work...
I still haven't found any incompatible charger for my phone and I don't even buy a phone if it has a non standard Charging/Data Port... it's just stupid... so no Iphone for me!

Hello guys! I'm here for an update. For the past week I've been using a Corby 2 charger. And guess what, it works just fine! only downside is it won't charge it up to 100% (usually gets to 99% upon unplugging). And it charges the phone a little slower than the original charger. I always let the phone overcharge overnight to have 100% battery.

Wireless Charging Issues

Anyone able to reliably charge wirelessly? I have a few Qi pads and without carefully and meticulously placing it in just the right spot it won't charge. And even then it often toggles in and out of charging.
Any suggestions? Or a pad that will work reliably?
Thanks

I have charged on Tylt Vu every night since I got it with no issues.
I put it on my TYLT every night now and its at 100% when I wake up. It does goes to 99% faster than when I charge it with my regular charger but I think that's just me.
couple of the threads on this in the accessories section.
OP should post up the pads he or she uses so others can compare.
i too have no issues charging wirelessly with two different model chargers.

You’re right. I have two different pads I’ve tried:
*
1.*******CHOETECH Qi Wireless Charger Pad – works almost never. Even with meticulous placement.
2.*******PowerBot® PB1020 Qi Enabled Wireless Charger Pad – works reliably with very careful placement.
*
I’m intrigued to try the TYLY Vu, just ordered a used one. Hoping this provides more reliable everyday use. I’d prefer to be able to just put the hone down before bed and be assured it will work every time.

The tylt seems to be the best deal in terms of consistent docks. I have returned several different chargers and am using the tylt and choe stadium chargers..
My charger works fine, but stops supplying power once the device reaches 100%. I'll wake up with about 98% because of several hours of standby drain.

I have the powerBot and can confirm the same. Works reliably, but takes a bit of moving around to get it started. Once I get the solid blue light on it then I've never had an issue with the charge being incomplete.
Was also looking at tylt vu, might put it on my xmas list..
The Nokia DT-900 wireless charging plate I got from AT&T a few months ago for $5/ea works just fine.
i have the CHOE Stadium Qi Wireless Charger and it's working without issue. it even charges with my (thin) case on the phone.

it works fine, but it turns the damn thing on 100% of the time. i don't want that. charges Nexus 5 just fine while it's off. for now i'm just using the turbo charger until i can figure out what the hell to do
With my nexus 6, I have had good luck with the itan ( a tylt vu knock off) http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LE6X5VU/ and tylt vu charger, also the 2012 original google wireless charger, but my other qi chargers do not work well, including two airdocks and the 2013 nexus wireless charger. It is more an issue of correct placement, than the qi technology per se. Qi works on the nexus 6, butit is harder to place the n6 correctly due to the two axis curved back plate, which has no flat part at all, so the small single coil chargers do not work as well as the larger triple coil chargers, like the itan or tylt vu or chose stadium.
Following back here, I have been using the Tylt Vu without flaw for a month of so here. It's very good at working with the 6 when I just put it down on it, no fiddling necessary ever.
Definitely recommend.

I have the CHOE triple coil QI and I have had no issues charging my Nexus 6. It even charges through my INCIPIO rubber case.
Using a Nokia as we speak, never had a problem. That being said you have to realize that the charging coil is off center in this phone, approzimately 1/3 of the way up from the bottom, I assume to facilitate the use of chargers designed for smaller phones. This can cause a charging problem for those that don't position the phone correctly over the centered charging spot on the charger. Remember that and all chargers should work on the N6 as well as they work on any other Qi phone.
Using a vzw 3 coil. only thing I've noticed is that sometimes it doesn't start charging. I usually unplug the pin connector, wait a few seconds, them plug it back in and its always been full in the morning.
Qi Powerbot
I have a Nexus 6 and using the Powerbot PB1020. It works very well, connects easily, charges fast, not much heat but when it finishes it cuts the powerbot off and will not charge again until I unplug and re-plug the powerbot. This is not a huge deal but I would like to see myself never touching the plug again. Case in point, my elderly parents are very interested in Qi charging as they have a hard time seeing the plug on the phone and would benefit greatly from total Qi charging. However, if they have to unplug and replug the powerbot every night to reset it, then it seems a waste of money. Any others having this issue? Is it only on the Powerbot? DO all of the chargers do this? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks,
Rob

[Q] Troubleshooting Wireless Charging w/ Droid Turbo

About a week ago I used a match to singe the nylon that was fraying as it was bad and I was past the 2 week return policy from Verizon. Ever since then my wireless charging has not functioned properly. I had two different chargers. The first one was a Keedox stand and the second was the PowerBot
So I was using the keedox charger but after awhile it would just randomly disconnect and the phone would say detected wireless charger starting charge. I tried the Powerbot charger and it went all the way through no issues with the screen turning back on constantly. Well now the Powerbot is doing the same thing the first one did. I left it on the mat last night but when I woke up it was only at 50% and had stopped charging. I use an app called battery widget and it showed me around 60% it just stopped and starting discharging. I already returned the Keedox one assuming it was defective but now this leads me to think its a problem with the phone. Could the receiver coil in my phone be bad and causing issues with the wireless chargers?

I have the same problem with the Powerbot. I have a feeling it might be the rubber around the edge not letting the phone get close enough to the coil. it works perfectly to charge my Nexus 7 and Moto 360 though, so it might just be the Droid.
For the record. the Aukey Wirless Charging Station is by far the best charger for all my devices. Droid turbo works great in portrait or landscape

But is it possible exposure to alot of heat could have harmed the wireless charger to the point where it no longer functions? That was my other concern. Im not sure how the receiving coil is in the phone.

My phone won't charge on my PowerBot, but I have 2 Nokia chargers that work excellently with the Turbo. The Powerbot charger works fine with my Moto 360.
I believe the Nokia charges have 3 coils in them, so it is really easy to get a decent placement of the phone on the charger.
I think the powerbot is a single coil charger, and placement is really critical. I think I've been able to get the Turbo to charge before, but only after playing around forever with placement. The distance from the charger to the phone shouldn't be so sensitive that the rubber on the charger would keep it from charging.
sensor size
just my opinion, but compared to the last phone i had, I feel like the turbo has a very small sweet spot to actually charge clean.
still love the phone, it's awesome. The huge battery has had me slowly not being always worried about finding a charger all day. My battery ptsd is going away!
just my 2 cents..
Has anyone had a good experience w/the powerbot? I already put two on my Christmas list
Is it just finicky, or doesn't work at all?
Though if the Moto 360 charges ok on it I can still use it for that I suppose.

Wireless Charging Issues

Has anyone had any issues with wireless charging on the Note 5? I picked up 2 Samsung wireless chargers with the Note and on both chargers the note seems to stop charging after about 15 minutes and never resumes charging unless i pick the phone up and put it back down.
I'm also having this problem. I have a TYLT Vu at work and a CHOE Stadium on my nightstand at home. It charged through the night once on the CHOE Stadium (but took unusually long).
Out of curiosity, what variant are you using?

I'm also on the tmobile variant. Would be interesting to see if other users with the TMo variant are also having wifi charging issues.
Edit: I ordered a replacement Tylt Vu (it was within the 30 days) and this one appears to be charging the device normally. I'll keep fiddling with it and report back with an update.
I have the Verizon version, but my wireless charging works just fine. Have fully charged it 5 times, and partially charged it a few times too.
When i put mine on the wireless charger it wakes the screen every minute or so and pauses charging. then resumes a second later... its retarded
I may take it back to t-mobile or change back to the wired charger at night. The last two mornings I have woke up to a dead phone after being on the wireless charger all night. Just wondering if the problem was just with my device or a wide spread problem.
Do you guys have cases on? If so, does it do it with the case off?

No case on my phone. Looks like it's a problem with my wireless chargers as my replacement Tylt Vu charges the phone normally.
The pad I use at home it too small and I'm most likely not placing the device on it properly.
Damn and I thought I was the only one having this issue. Lol but I noticed it the first day I got my note 5. I bought the samsung wireless charger as well from my local T-Mobile store. Not sure why its doing that, but my gf's Galaxy S6 is charging fine on that same charger. It just doesn't like the note 5 for some reason. I've had it stop charging after about 10 to 15 mins and I heard a noise that sounded like my phone got disconnected from the charger, then I get a blue light blinking on the dock. I also have seen it stop charging then start charging again without touching my phone lol, Its very weird.
I didn't have a case on my phone, I returned the charging dock and I will just find a different one later.
No case here.
Maybe there is an issue with the new wireless fast charge?
Thought it may be drawing to much current from the charging pads causing them to shut off. Does any one have this issue with one of the newer Samsung fast charge pads.
Seems like the current slowly ramps up, have seen it as high as 800maA. I don't have much experience with the wireless chargers and a little unsure what their normal outputs is.
I had this issue, I found it worked better by either having never sleep or daydream turned on when charging. I'm thinking it might be related to screen time out? Let me know if this helps
Apparently the wireless charger with the Best Buy deal was excess Galaxy S6 stock and they don't work too well with the Note 5. The new fast charge one from Samsung is supposed to be the one intended for the Note 5.

This makes you center your phone on it but it doesn't sit there cycling, which is a very bad thing. My GF ruined a g III battery by doing that overnight for 2 weeks.
Its a bummer the galaxy 5 doesn't seem to work as good as the oem abb on backs for the note 3 I had.

I tried using the Note 5 charger last night and had the same issue.
I created a thread on the AT&T Q&A section with the following and then i stumbled across this thread.
"Ok, so im using the Spigen Neo Hybrid case, and when i use wireless charging, it may work 30 seconds, or 10 minutes, but it always stops. What happens is i place it on the charger and it indicates its charging. Then, within a short time period, the light on the charger starts flashing to indicate charging isnt working properly, and the screen comes on and says wireless charging paused.
I have 3 different Samsung chargers, a Nokia charger and several Powerbot chargers. One of the Samsung chargers is the newest (not fast) chargers. I take the case off and it seems to be fine. Anyone familiar with this case knows its not thick by any means. Also, i have 2 GS6s in the house both using Neo Hybrids and they charge just fine. Ive adjusted positioning dozens of times but i know from experience that most devices dont require an EXACT placement.
I went to Best Buy, where i purchased it, and this is where it gets odd. They placed it on their display charger in the Samsung section and it charged for 10 minutes no problem before they told me they couldnt duplicate the issue so they wont replace it. I brought it home and the damn thing charged to full charge no issue. The next day when i placed it back on the charging pad, it starts cutting out again.
All my chargers have been tried over USB, and yes, with multiple wall plugs. My first thought was not enough power over USB but clearly thats not the case. "
All that said, i last night after posting, i tried my sons Choetech charger, its the stand style thats listed in the accessories thread, and it charged perfectly the whole night. It seems to me this might be an issue with the reciever in the actual phone. My sons S6E charges just fine on the samsung charger and he has a spigen case on his phone so this leads me to believe its not a fault of the charger.

I'm starting to think it may be coil alignment. Perhaps if we knew exactly where on the back of the Note 5 the Qi coils were, we could align them properly on the charging device.

Wireless charging stops

I have problem egen trying to charge wireless with my original g3 qi charger and also with my belkin qi charger.
The phone charges fine for 30~70 min. Then stops charging and wont resume unless i take the phone of the charger and puts it back again. If i try to only adjust the phone, nothing happens.
What could be wrong??

I bought the Newisdom sticker and put it on my leather back cover, and i'm experiencing similar things. I will have it on the charger, and it will work fine for a certain amount of time, then out of no where just stops. And it's not like it hit a full charge yet, because it can even be at 90% and stop randomly for me.
When I first put the sticker on, I tried to use it with the Choe Charger (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JA7HNZO) I already had for my previous Nexus 5. But for some reason that charger would never work with this phone. Then I tried my boss' ltian charger (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S7IBDGW) and that worked fine.
So I'm still using the ltian charger with the Newsidom sticker on the case, but i'm still very frequently having these issues where it doesn't work at all. I have no clue what's making it not work at times.
Sounds exactly like my troubble....

I bought 1 charger from newisdom (3 coil folding) and I bought two of the exact same charger on ebay (different brand label). I offered $30.00 each for 2 and he accepted.

All 3 chargers are working perfect. No issues at all. Instantly starts charging, charges quick, doesn't get hot, always makes it to 100%
I'm using chords that came with chargers and the LG USB AC adapters (1.8A)

Ya know, when you mentioned the amps in the adapter, that sparked me to try some things today. I work in web development, so we have different phones here in the office (along with their chargers/adapters of course) to test websites on real mobile environments.
I went over and grabbed a different adapter, and got the one for the Galaxy S4. This adapter has a 2.0A output. I've been using it with the ltian wireless charger all day today with NO ISSUES. I should add that I originally tried the adapter that came with the LG G4 (which I believe is only 1.8A, but I could be wrong) w/ this same ltian charger, and it would work intermittently. So weird right?
So I guess what I'm trying to say out of all this is that I think the adapter amp outage itself is the culprit for my issues.
make sure what wrong!

First of all, make sure the wireless charger works well with other phones. if it's ok, this means the problem is on the wireless charger receiver case or phone. there are some bad quality wireless charger, the current output isn't enough. it will cost this issure. Before I ordered Qi-infinity Multi-purpose Qi wireless charger, they also has this badly problem. i checked the circuits and fund they put some insulated rubber tape on the top of the plastic tried to reduce the signal interference.
secondly, Did you use a FPC wireless charger receiver case? i know there are lot of people used this and put a phone case on it. the wireless charger only can received 5MM distance signal. the most badly thing is the phone didn't have a heat dissipation environment when you put the phone case on it. when the temperature is geting higher than higer , it will stop working. please check the wireless charger receiver case has a QI standard.
The last but not the least, Try other brand wireless charger, if wireless charger and receiver case are both ok. it may have problem with phone. but this hardly happen.
This is the charger to get!

I had several chargers that I used to use with my old S4. When I put the aliexpress Qi sticker in my G4, none of these chargers would work reliably - very picky placement. Even bought another couple chargers from Amazon that also wouldn't work. Got these chargers - NeWisdom folding, and identical Ebay - and these work every time, no overheating, charge all the way reliably.
I could be a number of things here. Typically when the phone disconnects from the base, you have to move the phone away from the base and reposition to have them reconnect. I've noticed if it disconnects and I just slide it around, it will never reconnect.
BUT why is it disconnecting in the first place? Well it could be a bad connection of the sticker on your phone. It could be a bad charging base. I would swap out to another base and see if you have any more issues. If it works fine on another base, then replace the base. If it does the exact same thing on another base, then it is the phone.
You always get what you pay for. If you are using a cheap under-$20 charging base, then expect issues. I have several cheap chinese no-name charging plates that "work fine" for travel or quick temp situations but I have a Nokia bed side.
I have the same issue. And there is a solution I find.
I order the original G4 LG WCD-110 Wireless Charger and now works fine.
It must be the different position of the coil.
Fixed the wireless charging issue on LG G4

OK- this is going to sound really room 101 as a solution.........but its worked on three qi-stickers.
Issue: sporadic charging, non-charging on qi- wireless chargers. Changed chargers, bought q circle case - would work then after a while would fail.
Solution: Look at the mechanical connection between the wireless sticker and the sprung loaded connections on the phone. It looks like sometimes they don't make good contact. So I inserted some fine double sided sticky foam padding under the sticker contacts. Just enough to provide a cushion for the contacts. Hey presto - all stickers working fine.
Tested with all chargers and no problem experienced.
