Hello everyone.
I have a really big problem with my Xiaomi Mi3w (Cancro) and i haven’t find a solution in months.
I have an issue with the battery(?) or with the micro usb connector, sometimes i can’t charge my battery, no matter what or how, i can’t in any way.
When i connect the phone to the wall charger it doesnt charge or it even drains the battery, even if it’s off, it happened that some times when i connect the phone to the charger at 20+% battery after some hours it’s at 10%.
When the phone behaves like this and i try to connect it to the pc it can’t seem to hold the connection for more than 3-4 seconds, it continuosly connects and disconnects and it’s impossible even to open it in explorer. Obviously it’s impossible to charge even in this way.
At first i thought that it could only be a hardware problem (faulty connector/charger/cable etc)
but the last time i had this issue (today) i discovered that i can keep the connection between pc and the phone using fastboot. When i use fastboot the phone doesn’t disconnects continuosly so i can say that in 99% it’s not a connector/cable problem.
Could it be a kernel bug? I know that the kernel it’s active even when the phone is off but in charge, this could explain the charging problem even if it’s off.
Another thing that i discovered is that when the phone is on the connection to the pc gets more stable if i turn off debug mode ( can keep the usb connection on for more than 30 secs but i can’t seem to charge it anyway).
Things that i tried to solve the problem:
-Change the charger (1st charger is xiaomi’s orignal/ 2nd it’s a sony with output 5V/850 mah/ 3rd is a lg 4.8V/1A/ 4th is a generic tablet charger which came with my acer iconia with 5V/2A) none of these solved the problem.
-Change the cable (used 10 and more different cables, every cable was tested with my other devices and all were working well with my moto G and acer iconia)
-Fastboot install of both stable and developer rom
-Clean fastboot install of both roms (formatting both systems earlier with cwm)
-Install via cwm of ivan 4.4 aosp and cyano 12 (both of these uses the same leaked kernel right?)
-Cleaning connector with a neddle, soft cloth and some alcohol
I’m not sure about this other point but the phone seem to get in this not charging state when the battery gets below 30% and i keep it uncharged overnight.
So i thought that i could also be a problem related to the governor used by the phone when gets to a low battery profile and specifically when this governor tells the phone to get in deep sleep.
(this could perhaps explain the problem of both cyano and ivans roms random reboots and the workaround using partial_wake_lock)
I hope that someone can help me to solve this problem because my device is useless now
Thanks in advance to everyone
i have the same problem with my MI3W. Sometimes i can charge it while smartphone is power off.
I tried with another battery. I am waiting for a new usb connector flex to check too.
Do you find any solution?

I think i might be having the same problem. My phone started acting weird at the exact same condition. The charging connection kept going on and off. Felt like hardware issue at first. Charged my phone somehow to full charge and reset it. Looks good now but still skeptical.
Fingers crossed.

Hi i resolved the problem some time ago, cleaning the connector with a very tiny needle, i didn't go very far the first time that i cleaned it, probably it's only dirt, try cleaning it yourself and see if it resolves the problem
going fine

Thanks Lace.....
Hi to everybody,
I'm having a weird problem with my Nexus 6. After several ROM changes and back to stock, my phone stopped charging. I changed the battery because I though the battery was the problem, but I found that it really wasn't this problem, and the problem persists.
When I run into recovery or factory mode, the phone charges perfectly, without any troubles. I installed TWRP and checked the battery temperature and always has a ridiculous amount of several million degrees. Does anybody have or had the same problem and a way to solve it?
Thanks in advance.
It sounds like a hardware problem to me. Most likely, the initial problem charging was a bad USB port, cable, etc.. Getting a strange temperature reading like that indicates either the connection to the sensor wasn't reconnected when you reassembled the phone, or the sensor is on the battery and the battery you installed doesn't have one or it's broken somehow.
If you really think it's the ROM, power down and plug in. You should boot into a charging screen. That's not part of the ROM, so it's unlikely to have the same software issues.
I got the same problem months ago. I made a complete factory reset flashing all the things with stock and then it was working perfectly.
Hi,
I'm a Mi5 3/64 (black) user since 1 month, I bought it from Geekbuying.
Since 1 months the phone was hardbricked twice:
First time I left it overnight with 40% of battery and when I woke up in the morning the phone was dead, no life at all. I tried to charge it for couple of hours but it didn't help. Luckily I was able to flash MIUI through Miflash, so after that I was able to turn on my mobile and start again from zero. Terrible.
Second time it happened while I was charging my mobile. When it had 90% of battery I switched the mobile off. After one or two hours, still connected to charger I tried to turn it on but it was dead again. No life at all. I tried to charge it for couple of hours and nothing. So I left it and the next day I tried to turn it on by any chance and the red LED started to blink. Tried to charge for a while, but still without success. Connected to my laptop and it was visible in MiFlash, so I flashed latest Miui dev and now I can start again setting up my mobile.
What should I do now? Does it look like battery issue? I'm afraid that it will happen again after 2-3 weeks.
Somebody else had this issue? Did you ever return smth to Geekbuying and received item or refund back?
I wrote to Geekbuying and they just recommended me to flash this - https://goo.gl/jLBSsa I think it's bull****, just an old Miui ROM.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Was just going to restart the device and flash supersu binarys, tried to restart into recovery, eventually it died, couldnt boot it at all, doesnt respond while charging neither when plugging into the computer. I've no idea what happened but for me it feels like it was the battery failed. I was on lineage 170109 with brand kernel 3.3

Yes, so your issue is similar to mine. Terrible, no idea what's wrong with this phone and geekbuying support is terrible.
Use MiFlash to temporary make your device alive.

Using Mac but don't want to hassle, just bought a new battery from ebay instead and hope it will fix the problem.
On another community people told me that the main board is faulty, they say that it's the common issue in mi5.

Hi all,
I have been using my phone (X520 on EUI 5.9.23S) for over a year without any issues and all of sudden the phone probably overheated(felt very warm yesterday and the battery was draining fast) and now it's not charging at all unless I enter TWRP and charge my phone that way but that is very, very slow and takes ages to charge.
When I try to charge my phone the normal way, the battery indicator even turns green for a split second but then quickly changes back to white and refuses to charge as if a safety mechanism is in place that is preventing the phone from charging. Also, when I connect my phone to my computer, USB modes are not coming on the phone anymore nor is the computer detecting the phone properly. (I get "USB device is unrecognized" error message)
The TWRP method is so slow and inconvenient so I would appreciate if someone can help me out here.
By the way, I am on IllusionKernel but have tried OverloadKernel as well but the same result.
Thanks in advance.

Try replacing the stock boot by using “fastboot boot boot.img” which should restore stock kernel, may be EUI isn't supporting the custom kernels well.
However I am unsure,I read about this on a form some months ago so can't guarantee this will fix it or worsen it.

Thank you for your response. I have been using a custom kernel(s) for months and this just happened out of nowhere. I will still try to revert to the stock kernel.
Might be due to battery damage , probably needs new battery.

This could well be the case but it charges very slowly through TWRP and when using the phone, everything seems normal (no overheating or battery drain) so I think, it's something else that is the issue. Also, my CDMA official headphones are not working either during the call or even when watching videos.
Hi,
I've been using my Redmi K20 Pro since November and I encountered a problem where my phone won't charge. I tried my backup charger and usb-c cable but it still didn't work. Once I restarted the phone it began charging again. Based on my testing once I unplug the charger I need to restart again to see the lightning icon charging indicator. I also noticed that the charging speed is very slow unlike how it used to. I am using xiaomi eu and I updated to the latest version thru the update app but still having the same result. Has anyone encountered this or have an idea on how to fix it? I see lots of similar issues with xiaomi phones but of different model on google but I can't find anything useful.
Thank you

Sounds like there's and issue with charging port and daughter board, if you've done a reinstall. Does the same thing happen when charging from a laptop or pc?

Ah okay, that's really strange, I was thinking it might be the port but if it works fine on USB then maybe not, and you've tried a completely different plug and cable aswell?
Do you use any battery charge limit apps?
If you are like me flashaholic, then sometimes with dirty flashing rom gets messed. Try flashing stock (fastboot rom) miui to teset everything to stock and then see if it charges normally. If not there could be hardware issue
With regards to the replies above..
I've only flashed once to Xiaomi EU. I've also tried a different usb-c cable
I notice that when I plug my phone to my laptop, it keeps getting disconnected and reconnected for any small movements of the cable
Sometimes I get fast charging when I perform a restart so it starts to charge
I don't use any battery apps or any cleaner apps

Sounds like the charging port has an issue, the fact if it is connecting disconnecting from movement of cable points to it I reckon
Hello,
Have you solved your problem? I have the same insue and I can't solve it, the last option was to flash the last oficial global rom (fastboot methdo), but it didn't solve it ...
Thank you.

So, I have this issue on my another phone poco f1 what I did was clean the charging port with some stick and cotton. Basically its a charging port issue, you have to clean the port or take a service to clean port completely or change port this issue will be solved
Mi 9T (Global) have the same issue, i check with USB Tester...
every restart the charging system is reset.
Before restart: 9-10W
After restart: 16-17W
Same adapter & Same cable & same time
Some times the phone not charge at all
Restart solve this issue
When i connect the phone to computer it's not work
Restart the phone when his connected to the computer solve the issue
Xiaomi fix you hardware & software !!!!
Hello
I have the same issue with my two phones MI 9 T PRO, never used USB C before, even 3.5mm jack, i have the error message on the notification and i cannot remove it: "Can't play audio through adapter. Use digital earphones or earphones with 3.5mm plug". when i plug my charger into my phone the fast charge is displayed but it won't charge, The only way to charge my phone is to reboot it and it's charge like there is no problem! but the error message is still on notification but charge with fast charge! I bought my phones march 2020, and the issue appeared since sept - oct. I have the latest update MIUI 12.0.3.
I facing same problem on my mi9tpro with global miui12 what's going on guys how to fix the problem?
Hey guys, I think I have the answer!
Its all about the MIUI optimization, you just have to go into developer options, search for MIUI optimization, turn it off, restart, turn it on and restart again. Everything should go well after this! I hope all of you end with this headache!

Hello team!
I was facing the same problem on a Redmi 3S Pro, and decided to come by and let u guys know my handling of this.
My phone has quiet some years of usage right now and its a bit beaten, but still runs great.
Out of nowhere it decided to not charge anymore, and I noticed it would charge with device off or after a plugged restart.
It decided to work again after i entered fast boot (unplugged) and exited fastboot back into system then plugging.
Not entirely sure this fixed it, but looks like it.
Some notes:
I was trying a couple things like trying to enter safe mode and combinations of plugged/unplugged restarts
I did not factory reset
I did not let it end the fastboot loading (force rebooted somewhere in the middle of loading fastboot)
To fastboot, power off the device, then press power button and down volume
If u dont know what u doing, DO NOT go sticking metals into your usb port to clean it, cause if it charges when off, this is NOT dirt problem. Be advised..
I was able to reproduce the issue (sadly) after playing with normal reboot/fastboot then reboot , but then i tried reproducing the fix:
Unplug and turn off device
Turn on to fastboot (down volume + power)
Now, first time, after entered fastboot screen, i rebooted and it did not work, then i tried again but i had to let it run a bit longer on fastboot screen then reboot for it to work
I know the fastboot performs some system checks while loading, but i don't have much time to keep digging this, maybe another day i'll come back with more info.
I'm guessing its system issue, not hardware (at least in my case).
But now, charging is working even after normal reboots for me, so i think i'm onto something =]
Hope this can be useful to someone.
Happy hacking!
Cheers
Hello everyone , I had the same issue and fixed it .
My solution was to change the usb-c port (daughter board). everything works as its supposed now.
I looked everywhere for software issues , flashed many different roms to no avail.
There was only one rom that tipped me that there was a problem on usb c port though, ita pixel experience rom, it showed a persistent notification that there was something plugged in the usbc when there was nothing there.
once I replaced my port (cost only 14$ for original with fast charging IC) ,and upon inspection of my replaced board under microscope , the last pin on the left in the usb C port was bent in a way that was impossible to see with a naked eye, now I bought a usb c port and soldered it back to my original daughter board and I keep it as spare one.
Hope this will save you your battery and your time.
(if you keep using like this and have to restart everytime for a charge , it will eventually fail , better replace it when you have time , than your phone going off when you most need it)
