ZVA update - Sprint LG G4

Anybody get the ZVA Marshmallow update? Did if fix anything?

I have a Sprint G4 LS991 that was already running ZV9 Marshmallow. My phone has informed me today that I have an Android system update. I have no idea what the update is out what it does. Should I install it? What is the version.
. At that does it do?

Already have a theme... Read this.

To allow your phone to use lte plus. I don't know what the effect will be.

I installed this update about 30 minutes ago. Now a bunch of my apps and widgets are no longer installed. I tried restarting my phone and some more apps were updates, but no all. I'm going to try reinstall the missing apps.
My phone is on Software version LS991ZVA and Android security patch level 2013-01-01. I do not remember what security patch level it was before the update.

Any idea about after update zva can we return back to ZV9 or ZV6 ?
Thank you

Question then. Did you unlock the wifi tether with the ZV6 downgrade trick? If so, does it still work on ZVA? I've got mine set that way but not sure if the ZVA update kills the entire trick.

I was getting two errors consistently: 1) the phone wouldn't sometimes not hang up unless you reset the phone 2) MM texts wouldn't come through properly
Hope those are fixed.

I have not lost wi-fi tether.

My phone got an update 2 nights ago. Shows LS991ZVA now with Android 6.0. The Facebook widgets are gone as well as Facebook seems to be integrated into the software now as you can only Force Close or Disable it. No uninstall options. Not sure how I feel about that. Can anyone else confirm this is what they see?

I have the Sprint G4 LS991 that has been sim unlocked and now using simple mobile. Shortly after getting the phone it updated to MM 6.0. Also lost mobile data. Could not get support from LG or Simple due to imei number is from other. Software version says LS991ZFA. Is it possible to downgrade back to Lollipop 5.1 using the LGUP tool? Also after playing with the APN settings i managed to get the mobile data back on.

You have to change your APN settings. I noticed that this variant of LG G4 likes to auto rewrite MMS settings.
Check to see if it changed from your MMS api settings to a sprint one....

it's an MMS apn setting. I noticed that this phone will try to auto rewrite the APN to default spring settings if a major change occurs.
I use it with t-mobile and noticed it changed on me back to the original after the update. I changed it back to tom's api settings....MMS comes through just fine.

How to change the APN in ZVA 6.0? My IOT shortcut from QuickShortcutMaker does not work. It says "Application is not installed".

That's because you have to open the menu in ZV6, not ZVA. Downgrade to ZV6, open the hidden menu (leaving it in recent apps list), upgrade all the way to ZVA and then go back to that menu. Make APN changes as necessary.

The only thing that I know of is that it will not update if the battery is low. LOL. Other than that, I do not know how to stop it as I understand updates are forced after denying them 3 times. I could be wrong.

Got the notification this morning and denied it. Froze the OTA in Titanium Backup so it didn't try and apply the update later.
I tried to update, but I got an error saying my phone was suspected of being Rooted.
has anyone un-rooted and then installed the update and then rooted it again?

Should I Update?

Just got my T-mobile G Flex (d959) yesterday and did the update from 4.2.x to 4.4.x. Used Stump Root and gained root. Now it's saying there's another update from T-Mobile it wants me to do. I know these OTA's can be very hard to undo so if anyone can offer some advice as to whether or not I should update and whether or not I can still keep my root privileges I would appreciate it.
TIA
Do not do another update
It can brick your device..
Flash a Stock KDZ of your version 1st, before updating..
Also check the root availability of The new version through search...

Here's the deal...i would not recommend taking any ota update past version D95920h...this version is ok. There have been 2 additional ota updates since then and in each version T-Mobile/ LG has managed to f#*k us in one way or another. In version D95920m, T-Mobile disabled download mode, which prevents us from flashing a kdz in the event we need to...and in the latest version after that, we have problems obtaining root.

Where to get update received via OTA?

I'm currently updated using "LMY47Z" release, which I believe is the latest one, however I received another update via OTA a couple days ago, it says:
"This software update will upgrade your Nexus 6 to improve stability, increase security, and fix bugs. Downloading updates over a mobile network or while roaming may cause additional charges.
Size: 24.6MB"
Thing is, I cannot update it because I'm rooted, so I'm trying to find the file to do it manually, but at least in the google site the latest version that I identify is the one that I'm using; do you have any clue about what this update refers to? Is it "LMY48I" maybe? Thanks!
all nexus factory images are here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?csw=1#yakju
you cant update with an ota, even manually, unless you are completely stock without any changed files. you need a factory image to flash via fastboot.

Just curious so forgive me, I just got my G4 the other day and I've been doing a ton of research as expected when it comes to ROMs, root, and unlocking. Let me ask you this if I can:
Since I have the LS991, knowing it's technically domestically locked to Sprint in the US, and you say your ROM is a global version, does that mean if I decide to upgrade to your ROM (of course pushing ZVB first then your ROM with the instructions you've provided) will that remove the unlock I currently have in place with the International ROM, or will I be completely stuck and dead in the water again locked up tight with no way to roll back to anything pre-ZVB and no root potential either? I can live without root, honestly the only thing I require it for is Xposed and a single module so I can control music playback with the volume buttons (can't find any other way to do it) but I can't even get Xposed installed properly on ZV6 right now either even with FlashFire.
Long complicated BS I know, sorry, the basic question: if I were to flash the ZVB TOT then flash your MellowMallow ZVB, will it unlock this LS991 I have, or... should I just stick with ZV6 and be done with it?
I believe you have an LS991 yourself but, you're obviously using Sprint so it's a non-issue whereas I want to use T-Mobile so, my primary concern is being able to be unlocked, that's a must-have thing whereas root is a no-go on Marshmallow right now anyway.

Yes, you should be able to do as you'd like. The global version unlocks the phone for GSM use. You can add and edit any apns you like. There are several people who have been using the Global version successfully. I'm not sure about using it on T-mobile, and I can't make any guarantees, but I would assume you could use it just as any other GSM carrier. I also have a ZVA version you can try. (this is marshmallow and will not prevent rollback) ZVA Version
Yah, but ZVA has no root so, no Xposed, so no button controls, etc.
Anyway, I know about the International ROM and had it working and yes T-Mobile kicks in almost immediately without any issues, but from what I read about that ROM is that the person that made it obviously customized it somewhat and I saw at least one person say the reason it unlocks GSM capability is because of some build.prop edits and I'm trying to figure out what those edits happen to be. I'd love to be able to take a pure stock ZV6 and then root it, modify it so it works like the International ROM and go from there.
The problem I'm having currently is that I can't get Xposed flashed on the International ROM for some strange reason I can't quite figure out - each time I try to flash it there's a mismatch between the architecture/platform and it craps out. That doesn't happen with the rooted ZV6, but it's happening with the International ZV6 which irks me to no end and I can't find out what's causing the issue or else I'd just stick with the International one.
If the only difference between the pure stock ZV6 build and the International version of the same build is a a build.prop edit I'm going to have to figure out what the hell that is.
I just want to end up with ZV6, rooted, Xposed installed and working, and T-Mobile access which I should be able to accomplish - the problem is finding the right combination of this, that, and whatever else to make it all come together. So far, after like 15 wipes and flashes, I still haven't figured out that perfect mix to get what I want just yet.
But thanks for responding.

Ahh, I understand! Yeah, what you need to do is replace all instances of "p1_spr_us" in builld prop with "p1_global_com". (no quotes) Also, replace all instances of SPR with GLOBAL and change target country to COM. Then add the apns. https://github.com/tabp0le/MellowMa...40e511396bc298e37fb5/system/etc/apns-conf.xml
Here is an example for you to go off of.. https://github.com/tabp0le/MellowMallowROM-for-G4-LS991/compare/global
Holy cow, a treasure trove of info, just what I'd been looking for.
So, theoretically if I make those adjustments to the build.prop, that theoretically should make the pure stock ZV6 (from the TOT since there's no KDZ, bleh) be basically the International ROM or at least function like it, I presume?
One thing that I'm kinda frustrated above was when I got this device a few days ago the previous owner had done most if not all of this already and had UltraPOP ZVA on it, and working with T-Mobile. Of course in my haste to redo everything on my own I neglected to make a solid backup of the carrier folder (it still works with the one the unlocking thread provided so I'm not dead in the water in that respect). I looked around for a "pure" LS991 carrier folder but I suppose there just isn't such a thing and yes I know they do contain some device and user specific information (account related with Sprint) so I suppose it's not a huge concern.
Last question if I can: I'm not all that familiar with attempting to edit TOT files (assuming that can be done) so, is it possible or do you believe that altering the necessary build.prop variables on the pure stock ZV6 would cause that to work the same after a reboot? Guess I'll give that a go here in a few and see what happens. Also, when you say add the apns do you mean to build.prop or put the xml file in system/etc where it should be?
Almost there, almost... thanks for the info, definitely.

Regarding the apns: Replace the apns_conf.xml in system/etc.
Regarding TOT: you can't edit the tot
What you need to do to get exactly what you want: Root ZV6. Then make the changes and reboot. Or harder way, is to edit the rootedsystemzv6.img. Mount it on your pc and edit the files. Then flash it like you would to get root in download mode with send_command.exe. You can add me on skype tabp0le
Didn't realize I could edit the .img files but then again .img being what they should be that makes sense I suppose. That's probably the best solution for me personally, edit the rootedsystemzv6.img so it's done just once and it makes things easier or at least it should if I have to redo things.
Now to find something that will not only open the img but allow me to edit/save it when done.

Manually updating to MM without bricking?

Hi Guys,
I have a fully stock AT&T S6 Edge (G925A) and it is still running on Lollipop. The reason is that when I check for updates through the About section, it says my phone has the latest firmware, so it doesn't find the OTA for MM.
I even installed Samsung SmartSwitch on Windows and checked for updates using that but still it couldn't find any updates.
So the question is whether or not there is a safe method for flashing stock MM firmware manually (probably through ODIN) without bricking the phone?
I have another S6 Edge International model (G925F) and I update it manually every month through ODIN, but it is rooted and bootloader is unlocked. I am not sure how a similar method would work for a locked bootloader.
I appreciate your help
Any ideas?
I think happens is because we are outside the US .... I update it without problems with a guide here and works perfectly -> "flashing 6.0.1 encryption enabled"

Can you please provide a link?
I am actually using a VPN that uses US ip addresses. So I don't think that would be a problem.
