Ok, so this has happened a few times now on various ROMs
I'll put my cappy on the charger for the night turned on with my alarm set. When I wake up (somehow on time luckily lol) it's turned off... I don't get it. What gives?

Maybe. To do that, all I have to do it flash back to stock right? Then return?

Yes please. Format the internal SD (optional, but I would prefer this), flash it to stock so all traces of messing with it are cleaned up.

I also security unlocked it. Do I need to take care of that or do they even check that?
Also, I have a zagg screen cover on it which I adore and I've only had this phone for a couple months now at the most, I would hate to get rid of it
Will they replace that?

By "security unlock" if u mean network unlock, once u flash back to stock it should get reset again.
I unlocked mine on stock, n then when I loaded stock back when changing roms, i found it got locked again. So shouldn't be an issue.
And well, nothing can be done abt the screen protector.
Believe, I've the 4th captivate after 3 replacements for sleep death issue.

Well, at that rate, a screen protector isn't even really important lol. We'll see if the problem persists :/
Thanks for all your advice, you're great!

Thanks Smith. When u get ur replacement I would recommend u wait for 3-4 days, confirm it does not have sleep death or charge death issues, and then apply screen protector.
Like the dood said - Flash back to stock.. but I would test to see if it keeps happening. If you have a Build 1008 phone - it seems to be more prevalent on that build then others.
Mine happens when the phone is fully charged especially. I would test that to see if you can get it to repeat or AT&T will just give you a replacement battery instead of a refurbed phone.
Will do, if I even get one this time around. We will see...
Thanks again!

I have a 1008 build phone and I'm hoping to exchange mine within the week. I flashed back to stock with Odin 1Click on Tuesday and I noticed it isn't entirely the same as when I bought the phone. There are some default apps missing, QuickOffice for one. Anyone have ideas?

Hmm. How would I get it to repeat lol, charge it all the way and wait? And do you think they would really sit there and wait for the battery to charge to 100 to test or just swap?

You can download Quick Office from ATT Market. It's not needed for returning it back to AT&T. All of the base bloatware is returned to the phone after you Odin it.

Don't think too much. Format the internal SD, and revert to stock and return in. One click odin to stock gets it close to how AT&T gave u the phone. A couple optional apps missing shouldn't matter.

Great, thanks. That is all I needed to hear. Hopefully returning it today. Then as long as I can use the three-button mode to get into download and recovery, I think I'm going to try flashing my first ROM bundle.
So I exchanged my phone tonight. They gave me a 1007 build, however my IMEI ends in 0652. The guy at AT&T told me that Samsung had replaced the bad component causing the shutdown problem and was re-issuing old phones. They apparently don't change the IMEI. I'll see what happens. If it starts shutting down again, I'm back in the store for a new one.

Yes. AT&T person is right. After multiple exchanges, my 4th n current phone is a 10.07 build, been using for over 2 months now n its been good.
After installing xposed on my S5, I kept losing service. Sometimes wouldn't even realize for a while (had my daughter call me on my work phone asking what's up with my phone)
Just wondering if anyone else had this problem or if it was caused by a specific module I used?? I had most of the Galaxy ones installed as well as the Framework (only mod that worked was to add custom text to my notification bar)
No signal issues here. I'm using wanam, app settings, gravity box (to swap recents/menu), greenify, isis root bypass and g touchwiz.

Same issue here on xperia Z1, android 4.4.4. Installed Xposed, activate framework and reboot -> signal loss. Restoring ROM, ejecting and then inserting SIM card did not help
It's not xposed... I went back to stock unrooted and the problem still existed. Called AT&T and they had me go to get a new SIM card... it's doing it still today GRRRRR I've gotta get rid of my custom boot image (flashing android) and Dr. Who sound byte on boot then I'm calling them back and getting a warranty replacement. I'm honestly severely dissatisfied with this phone. When it's time for an upgrade I will NOT be purchasing another Samsung device.

I would just flash back to stock & see if it comes back. If that doesn't work, the radio may have just coincidentally gone bad in the middle of modding. I see a lot of S5's & no problems with signal so I wouldn't give up on Samsung yet if this is your only issue.
BTW if you go into your settings, about device, status screen, does your imei still show up?

That's not the only issue...I'm upset about the bootloader being locked and the charging port flap no longer stays shut.
My IMEI is still there it only works on WiFi now AT&T is sending me a warranty replacement in 4 business days I'm about to use my BF's old S4 in the meantime

I feel you on the bootloader issue.. everyone here does lol. I haven't seen the flap problem but you're definitely not having the best luck with the S5. Hopefully it's a fluke but make sure you're completely stock when you send the old one back b/c if they find any evidence that you voided the warranty (flashing, rooting, etc) they don't notify you, they just bill your account $400 and keep the phone.

Oh yeah I odin'd it yesterday, it's back to stock completely. Didn't even install an app on it since it has no signal LOL. I'm using my BF's old S4 and running 4.4.4 AOSP ROM right now... I don't know if I'll want to go back to my S5 when it comes in... Oh how I missed AOSP

Did you try one of the USSD codes for a Hard reset on your old S5 (*2767*3855#)? Sometimes they fix a little bit more than a normal factory reset.

I bought a brand new Note 4 from my local T-Mobile store. I rooted it, and only added Wanam Xposed.
I used Wanam to hide my root status so that I could use T-Mobiles softcard payment app.
I wanted to sleep for an hour, and I shut off my phone. When I woke up, I turned on my phone, and it got stuck on the white T-Mobile screen.
I could not get by it. I pulled the battery, etc, and it only would boot to the white t-mobile screen,
I was able to restore the phone to original with Samsungs online restoration program.
Here is my concern. Do I have a defective phone? I think I can still return it. (They may charge me $50.00)
The phone works now, but im just worried that I might have a bad one? Could it be defective? or did I cause the freeze by installing Wanam? or something else I did?
I would appreciate your comments and advise since there are many people on xda with much more experience and technical knowledge about this than I have.
Thanks in advance!

No need to return the phone, as you were able to restore it. The freeze was likely caused by something you installed that didn't play nicely with another app/program. Fresh install and make sure to pay close attention to what you're putting on your phone, and what settings w/i Wanam may or may not bork something else. Enjoy!

See this I would say depends. I have had the best battery life ever with stock. I rooted to remove bloat but it broke a lot. They tied everything together. So went back to stock and haven't moved. Gonna stay till official deodex 5.0 drops lol.

Lol Wanam is now updated to work with 5.0. so really, what's a couple more weeks to wait. Don't want to go thru the hassle of downloading the whole update and Odin back to stock. Rather just let it drop via OTA. Honestly my first phone since the Evo I have not rooted yet. It's crazy because once I do. I know it'll be like having a new phone. Can't wait bud!
I'm considering flashing firmware via odin but it's been a while have a few simple questions someone could help me with.
I've got tablet from O2 and it's SM-T715 version.
Can I flash any firmware?
Are there any issues with MM update?
Will I lose warranty?

I got a S2 a few days ago and it was stuck on an EE version of 5.0.2 and said there were no updates. :crying:
I then followed this thread below to flash MM using Odin. It was a breeze and is certainly worth it.

I've not encountered any issues but it was midnight when I flashed it so I've had little time to inspect.
Can't comment on the data as I use it Wifi only even though its the 715. (Tip to anyone using a 715 wifi only, put on airplane mode then turn on wifi to stop cell battery drain even without a sim card in the device.)
Way less bloat on MM though!

Even if we ever do get root, it's not likely we'll ever see much development, as all the devs have likely moved on to new hardware long ago.
If you want a root able phone, buy something unlocked that's dev friendly (one plus, nexus, moto z line maybe, zte axon7 maybe). Anything att Branded from here on out will likely be locked down.
