On Pure Nexus 2.3.16, xPosed, Elite Kernel 1.21.16. i have attached a LogCat for your viewing pleasure. random reboots, freezes. FYI, reboots happened before xPosed. What app/settings are the culprit if any? Thank you very much in advance!

well, xposed isn't meant to be used on custom ROMs, as custom ROMs will probably need what xposed changes/uses. I'd recommend gettingvrid of it and reflashing the ROM. if your reboots still continue, then you know its not xposed.

I've noticed straying too far from stock kernel can result in random reboots: mostly in ones that underclock min frequency from 300 to 35 also some GPU governors can cause reboots even on the stock kernel. and kernels that don't throttle automatically depending on battery level (this is how google solved random reboot issues on stock kernel). I know elite kernel has quite numerous options try running stockish settings on it for a day or two and see if it fixes things. These are just my observations based on my own phone rather than anything in your logcat which I honestly have no idea how to read properly.

i agree with you. thats why i went back to stock..

I was getting some weird stuff happening when using a different kernel. I'm back on a stock kernel and everything is better.

I'm attempting the same. Hopefully it gets better..

The problem is that you're trying to run random hacked-together crap that came from who-the-heck-knows that you found on the internet.
You're *bound* to run into stability and security problems.

what about it? what's your real question? stock is however stock is set up, custom kernels change the CPU setup, in many differing ways. there is no one correct answer as there are many different custom kernels and setups.

if you have issues with the stock kernel, yes. if you want root, yes. should you learn how to set up your cpu properly before changing kernels? yes. learn about the governor/scheduler, how changing them changes your cpu performance. besides that, some kernels add a few minor features as well.
Rooted but as close to stock as possible. I've always had issues with heavily tweaked custom kernels.
They have their place, but not if you wan't a solid rooted daily driver IMHO.

im a well known custom kernel user, and yet I NEVER use any custom kernel as they are set up by the developer. I ALWAYS use my own CPU setups, always. as far as I can tell, my setup is as solid for me as any stock kernel that google provides. but not only solid, my phones performance is kicked up a notch as well as its battery life. and my devices turn out much more responsive too.
Wow you must be very skilled and talented!
Sometimes messing with stuff like that can create bootloops and random freezes.
I also love how you have contributed to this thread by saying how you ALWAYS use your own CPU setups.
It was very informational an helpful.
Thanks!

and that's why its very important to know about governors and schedulers.
here's one of my examples.. for a long time, I was the only one using all 4 cores on , no hotplugging. and many people laughed at me about it, claiming my battery life must suck. but, for android 5.1 google changed the CPU settings for the nexus 6. and many people really noticed about how reactive the n6 became. what did google change? they set the cpu to be always on, no hotplugging
BTW, I use the ondemand governor with the deadline scheduler. with the sampling rate for ondemand set at 15000 and the sampling rate at 98.

Guys, recommendations make this kernel what it is. I'm always open to suggestions and I'm always open to helping others with their projects. Just make a suggestion and I'll consider it
****ing Annoying Questions (@fusionjack LOL)
1. Does this work on OOS?
No
2. Will I implement such and such?
I'll look into it

Okay I just dirty flashed this over blu_spark r162 and it booted into aicp without any issues (still wondering why it's "anykernel" instead of "anyOS/anyROM").
Whatsoever I just went through the settings and personally lack few points:
- tcp algorithm: westwood(+)
- i/o-schedulers: sio, fiops+
- cpu gov: personally i'm actually fine with interactive, tho wondering if u could add yankactive and zzmove
- also will there be lower min freq policy available?
Please don't take this as demanding features! Just think about it
A question in addition: Did I get that right, that max freq during boot is set to 2880MHz? If so I really appreciate that. During normal use I have max freq capped to 1958MHz but on boot I think OC is a very good idea
EDIT: anyway will run this for now and report back. especially excited about battery life
EDIT2: is there usb fast charge? cause i see no setting in kernel auditor.
@RJDTWO , Had few FCs on instagram after longer use. Device froze twice, once it recovered after "system ui not resonding", another time, device rebooted and was stuck in boot loop. From then onwards, everytime I try to boot, it gets stuck in oneplus logo.
Nice feature list tho

If same kernel, dirty flash works otherwise might cause issues. I tried to avoid all kind of conflicts, only root. It might be conflict with ROM or a bug. These are the issues which are hard to debug and reproduce. I reported in so that probably there is something OP can identify.

yah still remains, i guess it's even harder to debug a "didn't boot" issue if one doesn't know what it was that did not boot...

Wierd Screen Glitch Issue

My Nexus 6 is on TeamOcto OS with their custom kernel but this glitch also happens on other custom firmware that i flash a custom kernel too.
When using certain apps like the you tube app or waze the screen glitches out into like 4 different boxes and the only fix so far is to switch off my screen and switch it back on. I want to know if it is due to a faulty part on my phone or if it is because of the kernel's i flash onto the phone
Edit: Will post a picture when it decides to glitch out, since it isn't doing it right now
gttp://imgur.com/i7Tg2cC
Old hat, this glitch is. There are equal chances that it is either software or hardware related. The right kernel may solve this, as well as making sure to use the default DPI (560). If it's hardware related, you'll be looking to RMA the device.
Can't RMA it since I bought it of of swappa but I'll probably just try flashing a different ROM without flashing a custom kernel
This comes up in the ElementalX kernel thread every so often. Recommend work around is to use Interactive governor.

I've flashed my phone to n6x to see if it was going to alleviate it and it hasn't done the glitch so far. Thanks for your guys input

I had this problem and the only two kernels that every resolved this were Flash kernel and LeanKernel (which is no longer supported and has not been updated in ages) Somewhere here in XDA for my nexus 6 I posted a photo of the same problem, it typically have happened after playing youtube videos.
I stopped using Elemental X as I have this problem with it every time, I know there is the interactive governor to resolve it but I just went to LeanKernel and then to Flash kernel. Problem solved.
Edit - Found my original post with the photo taken.

It definitely has to do with the kernel, every time I flash elemental x kernel, the split screen occurs, other kernels, no problem, using flash right now and it's great. It's never the rom causing the problem,

Actually it is a combo of the two. People seem to think that any kernel will work with any rom. This is not the case. Each room team codes their kernel to work with the rom so other kernels may not work.

That's true, but I haven't heard of any specific rom for elemental x. Not bashing elemental x, it was my preferred kernel for my nexus 5. I am thinking it depends on the date your specific nexus 6 was built, some aren't affected, while some are . They were shipped with different eMMC and ram

True. This is why I only use the kernel that comes with the rom I am using. This way I know they are coded to work together.
Please excuse my bumping an old thread.
I recently decrypted my Nexus 6 and the problem completely stopped. The Interactive Governor solution only decreased the frequency of the occurences.
Hope this helps!

To my surprise the usb port worked with Redmi note 5 usb cable after I held it in a wierd position (pushing upwards by pressing down n tilting left) but the struggle paid off n I'm enjoying "pixel experience" Tim by King which is the best rom for Nexus 6 till date.

I don't know why included gapps and su is a big pro. You only need to flash it once as it survives updates.
Personally I don't think there is something like 'the best ROM' as everybody has different needs or preferences.
Also I am not the right person to recommend a ROM as I am highly biased as LineageOS maintainer.
But if you look at the other ROM's shamu sources you'll see where the real development was done

Honestly, a lot of it is going to be subjective, it depends on the kinds of apps you use, whether or not you tweak the governors and settings or not, whether you are using an app to make doze more aggressive, etc...
Most of it is going to have to involve some trial and error from you
I'm using Franco. It seems OK and I can get 5 hours SOT which is enough for me. I asked the same question before and I was told that EX is more customizable and Franco is more easy to use, it's just flash and forget.

Almost none of the problems reported in the kernel threads are kernel related. Most are either from none stock roms, root, magisk, modules and other stuff people flash on top. [KERNEL] [Android 12] [v12.9] MVK - Maximum Velocity Kernel

For those familiar with Velocity Rom this is the kernel I build for it. Velocity hasnt been on XDA as a rule so Im sure not many are familiar. Velocity is my personal Rom Ive been building for years and have shared with all that are interested. This isnt and will never be an "official development project" but will always exist as long as I continue to develop Android roms.
Velocity is focused on speed, stability, and efficiency and not on adding every imaginable feature. As this is my personal Rom it will have everything I deem useful to me and/or that doesnt compromise the goals of the project.
I dont add every conceivable governor, I/O scheduler, or other user tweakable options. In fact, I typically remove all the options and keep the best. This is designed as a plug and play kernel, not something to be changed. Its also not designed for other Roms.
Please do not ask for features, ETA's, or related. Again, this is my personal kernel for my personal Rom and will be shared accordingly. That said, I do encourage healthy, friendly dialog in my threads.
Flashing instructions
1) Reboot to bootloader
2) Fastboot boot 'bootimage_name'.img to make sure it boots with no issues
3) Reboot to bootloader again
4) Fastboot flash boot 'bootimage_name'.img
5) Buckle up for safety - optional of course

Thanks for this!
It's great to see another person building for our device. Not that the others aren't doing great work, but the more the merrier.
Once Q source drops, the real fun will begin. I can see potential for crazy speed and battery life over 10 hrs SOT on Q. Im coming from Shamu (Nexus 6) so this is quite a change in use and development. I think Im getting a good handle on what makes it tick though.

Not surprising. This is why I stated it works on stock but no idea on custom ROMs. I can cook a boot image if you want to try that, but that would also be based on stock.
Boot image is up in the same folder if you want to try that, but this really is designed to run on either my Rom or stock. Once velocity is out I won't be building stand alone kernels.
