How do I know the Original Carrier of My Note 3 - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone I have a question that I cant seem to find any specifics on I bought a used Note 3 it cam with what appeared to be a Stock SM-900W8 ROM knox was not tripped however my doubt comes in when you take off the back cover the sticker says SM-900W8 but the hardware on the back says N900A as well as a Big AT by the speaker is this an At&t phone or does it just share parts in common. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the csc code as this may match it to firmware on sammobile.com.

Galaxy Note N7000 - Hardware Differences of the same model?

Hi guys,
Recently, I purchased an Unlocked Galaxy Note N7000 at J&R NYC. As there is no unlocked U.S. Model, the O.S. that came was Chinese or Korean. I checked the label behind the battery and I concluded the model was from some Asian country. Ok, after some time the screen along with the digitizer broke and I had to purchase a new one (as Samsung Brazil don't fix models from other countries not even paying for the repair).
I purchased one officially from Brazil that is also a Galaxy Note N7000.
I feel it strange though. I seems slower, the screen sometimes lags when scrolling and I don't remember this lag from my previous one.
The question is, can they have different hardware ? Both are N7000, one from China/Korean and the other from Brazil.
Thank you and best regards,
Amid
I can't say for certain, but I know there are different versions of the firmware for each region which could account for the differences you are observing, at least in part.
If they're both N7000 model than they have the same hardware ( unless one of them is a fake, which i'm sure it is not ). Any differences might be caused by firmware though. You'd have to flash the same stock or custom rom on both of them and then check.
Thank you guys. So, this also implies that the digitizer is the same for both so if I can purchase one digitizer from Samsung Brazil it will work in the other one, correct ?

Bought a foreign Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T710, Change Country?

Hello I was hoping someone might help me with little information. I am fairly new to Android devices as I come from a Apple Background. I purchased a TAB S2 SM-T710 recently off ebay. Well I received it and realized its stuck at 5.0.1 and wont update, Thought a wipe and reset might get it to update but when I did that it came up as another language and keyboard. Apparently the CSC is for Taiwan and Honk Kong. Beyond this it seems to work alright. I am unsure what this means for the tablet and what I can do. Obviously it won't update at that CSC, but does will this also cause me issues with apps? I was hoping you nice knowledgeable folks could give me some info so I could figure out how to proceed. It seems from looking into it, A different CSC firmware can be flashed and Android can be updated to Marshmallow, but I can't seem to find which CSC would be US and how/if this will effect other things like apps.
So I am two choices, part of me is considering raising issue with the seller and returning it, the other part is considering trying to resolve the problem.
Any thoughts would be wonderful.
@edit found and installed US Rom, Thank you folks. Only question I have is are there any unknown effects running a US CSC Rom on a device that originated elsewhere?

New note8 owner

Hi I switched over from a Iphone 7 + to a galaxy 9+ had issues with att video chat so got the note 8 since my girlfriend has one and it works. Sad thing is mine doesn't. Still lost on this issue also will post this message in att thread but thats my background
since I haven't had android since galaxy s4 how is root done? I do love towel root and safestrap through made life easy.
Since your on att note 8. Sm-n950U
First don't update your phone to any firmware with u4cxxx (the 4 means bootloader v4 and there is no root for that)
Read this thread out for root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/root-samfail-galaxy-note8-t3685340
I would READ the first post real carefully!
May I ask what model is your gf's note 8 is it from att or Samsung store? Also where did you get yours?
It's either sm-n950U (Samsung cell unlocked) or sm-n950U1.
Ok now do I find bootloader info?
Her phone was gotten at best buy i am not sure what model number though. Mine was gotten at the att store.
If this is the case i may end up taking mine back and going with the unlocked version
Look in settings/about phone/software information
And look for the "baseband version"
You should see for eg. N950U1UEU3CRC1
Notice the "3" at the fifth spot from the right (...."3"CRC1). That number will tell you your bootloader version. There are 4 versions of your bootloader. Only version 1 to version 3 are rootable. Version 4 is NOT rootable (and it won't allow you to downgrade to v3.)
I believe you can make your n950u1 to a n950u (search on how to do that with a modded odin)
And you can try on phone dialer *#1234# to get the pda, cp and csc info.
I believe best buy sold the unlock version (might be wrong) .
Compare your baseband version with your gf's phone baseband version and see if its n950U1..... or n950u......
Thank you for that my phone is on baseband 3 so gonna probably end up rooting it.
Gonna look at her phone here in a bit.
Ok both phones are the exact same so now i gotta dig deeper in to this problem
I would pay a visit to your local AT&T store and see if they can help. It maybe a device config issue.

Using USA Note 9 in Europe (to be specific in Romania)

Hello!
I've been interested in buying a Galaxy Note 9 for some time, but I'd like a Snapdragon version (from what I can tell by reviews and tests it's better than the Exynos in performance, heat and battery and I don't really want to install custom ROMs, so no problem about the locked bootloader). Today I happened to stumble across an offer on a retail website where a seller just 20 km away from me is offering a Galaxy Note 9 which he says is new and bought from Samsung store in the USA (so I'm assuming it's the N960U carrier unlocked USA version), but he's also stating that it needs to be region unlocked. I've been searching online and I don't really understand what that's all about. I know the first step in purchasing a phone from retail is asking for the IMEI, but what can I exactly do with it? Does it provide the phone's exact model? And what does region unlocking imply?
I'd be glad if anyone could help me with this situation, as it's quite a rare chance and I'd be extremely happy to buy it, but I firstly want to be sure I can use it.
Provided it's not CDMA, the GSM bands should be comaptible with my carrier (Orange), or so I think. Any information is much appreciated.
Thanks and have a great day!

Question S21 Ultra SC-52B Questions

So, I have an S21 Ultra running Android 13/OneUI 5.0, it is an international model from Japan known as the SC-52B (I think also may be referred to as SM-G998D?). The reseller on eBay listed it as "unknown carrier" but I did not expect it to come as a non-US variant, though everything does seem to work except 5G due to the correct bands being disabled. I can't find much info on SC-52B online, I know it has the Snapdragon 888 but no idea if it's any different to flash/program, or if I am just not doing what I need to do.
First, I was trying to flash USA U1 (stock) firmware to remove the bloatware but no luck, Odin gave me a "re-partition" error and some google results said this could be due to incompatible firmware. Sammobile does have firmware matching this model but they are all Android 12 and have the same carrier software I have now (Docomo). I assume I am probably out of luck on this conversion, I did read some info on changing CSC first but not sure if this will actually fix it.
Second, I am trying to unlock the correct bands for 5G operation on Verizon, and I found that Samsung Toolkit can do this as well as some ADB commands. From my understanding, this works on UI 5.0 but not 5.1 due to a patch from Samsung. I have 5.0, but I am getting the same issues as those with 5.1, and going via ADB does not bring up the hidden Service Menu either.
Lastly, is there any way to change the boot logo without root? I just want the normal Galaxy boot logo instead of this "DOCOMO" one, which I do understand would be achieved IF I could get the USA firmware loaded, I just don't want to brick it.
Just curious if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, or should I just trade this in on an S22/S23 Ultra? I only paid $300 and Samsung would offer $600 for trade-in, which is nice alternative but a $300 fully working S21U would be preferred. Seller does offer returns so I could also just look for an actual US S21U.
