Bought a foreign Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T710, Change Country? - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I was hoping someone might help me with little information. I am fairly new to Android devices as I come from a Apple Background. I purchased a TAB S2 SM-T710 recently off ebay. Well I received it and realized its stuck at 5.0.1 and wont update, Thought a wipe and reset might get it to update but when I did that it came up as another language and keyboard. Apparently the CSC is for Taiwan and Honk Kong. Beyond this it seems to work alright. I am unsure what this means for the tablet and what I can do. Obviously it won't update at that CSC, but does will this also cause me issues with apps? I was hoping you nice knowledgeable folks could give me some info so I could figure out how to proceed. It seems from looking into it, A different CSC firmware can be flashed and Android can be updated to Marshmallow, but I can't seem to find which CSC would be US and how/if this will effect other things like apps.
So I am two choices, part of me is considering raising issue with the seller and returning it, the other part is considering trying to resolve the problem.
Any thoughts would be wonderful.

@edit found and installed US Rom, Thank you folks. Only question I have is are there any unknown effects running a US CSC Rom on a device that originated elsewhere?

[Q] Shipped with newer firmware.

Hi guys!
I bought my galaxy s from one of the first batches coming in to Norway a couple of months ago. This phone got sold with JF3 firmware wich maybe is one of the first and most buggy ones.
Now a buddy of me bought the phone just the other day, and hes phone got JM1/2?
Why the HELL is this update not available through Kies for my phone?
Its not that i dont know about Odin, but i really do not want to use it before 2.2 comes via kies. If even that gets through to my phone.
Is there a good reason for this?
Ask your provider!
He is responsible for his branded update.
Ask your telco/provider. Only they know.
I had a JF3 too and didn't see JM1 in kies. Unbranded GT-I9000.
Didn't really think about it and flashed JM8 with odin anyway... and tons of others to
Well, it would be quite hard to ask providers. As both phones are operator less. Or whatever word is used for it in English.
They are sold free from an agreement directly from the factory.
My unbranded Galaxy S came with JM2 (German market) not sure if it same everywhere else in the EU.
It's to do with the product code and kies/samsung. For example I've got JF3 on an unlocked phone in the UK. Everybody knows that JM1 is available via kies, however my phone has a different product code so I cannot find it.
Doing the kies registry hack allows me to find the update.
My theory is that samsung keeps a list of firmwares for every product code, and unfortunately it hasn't been updated for our codes.

[Q] UAE camera in the US - Any caveats?

Bought a EK-GC110 off Amazon. Stated as "New, not refurbished" but price was more along the lines of a used / refurbished, so I was OK if it arrived refurbished (it did). However, it's a UAE "model".
Any caveats before I get too attached to it? Obviously there's no warranty regardless, but I don't want a month later to find out some feature won't work because it's a UAE model and I'm in the USA (not even sure what would be a problem, but...)
Thanks
wifi version has identical hardware worldwide.
even if someday you find a feature that doesn't work you could just flash the official rom for the US version, but I think the software is the same everywhere too.

Hey thanks for the reply. So nothing you can think of that may be 'different' - If I recall there's a few extra wifi channels that the rest of the world has that the USA doesn't - that's fine obviously, I just want to make sure there's not say frequencies this UAE version wouldn't have that the US would. Or some encryption or - I don't even know what else but if it's the same, no problem.
Thanks
I have the same camera.
Im looking to restore it back to factory after root but am not sure what firmware to use. Also, it seems i would benefit from using another regions firmware based on what you said. Is that correct?

Gear VR Setup Wizard Issue

Got my Gear VR yesterday from T-mobile, went to set it up on my Note 5 N9200, when the setup wizard opens, I hit next, the wizard tries to connect to the servers then returns the following error:
Error Occurred.
Network Error.
I spent all day on the line with Samsung support, they kept dropping my call, and finally told me to go to a Samsung experience center at Best Buy. Does anyone know how to correct this?
I have the same problem. Only thought is that my Note 5 is from Hong Kong so may be on a different firmware than US phones - hence the network error issue. Please let us know if you find a solution!

Mine is also from HK, assuming you also have an N9200? I really hope Samsung did not region-lock an accessory, that would be really horrible for early adopters...

Yeah, the N9200. I opened up a support ticket to Oculus on this matter too. I don't think it's necessarily region locking, I think it's just they haven't pushed out the firmware for the HK phones to enable us to download oculus home.
Trying to figure out if there is any way to sideload the oculus home application but there's not much info out there since the new gear VR just came out a few days ago. Ugh, I was so excited to use it and then this...
Update
So, I thought I would give everyone a quick update, as I noticed there are people on a number of forums experiencing this issue. I spoke with Oculus, Samsung Hong Kong, and Samsung US (listed in order of helpfulness).
I learned that in spite of having Gear VR services, set up wizard, and other related software preloaded, the SM-N9200 still needs an update to set up Gear VR. Samsung Hong Kong claimed they did not know of any plans to release Gear VR in Hong Kong, which means anybody who bought an SM-N9200 likely just wasted 99.99 USD. Samsung's US support team knew nothing and was incredibly unhelpful, I'll leave it at that.
I'm very disappointed Samsung is maintaining a 1990's US carrier mindset, assuming we do not live in a connected world, and people would not purchase phones from other regions where they frequently travel. The HK version of the SM-N9200 is the only way for one to own a Note 5 and still have access to TD-LTE networks when they travel to China, as well as Google Services when outside of China, all without rooting.
I really hope Samsung stops punishing US-based SM-N9200 users for their loyalty, and pushes the update out to us ASAP.

Well, that's a huge bummer. Time to return this $99 paperweight.
Wow, what a disappointment. Forgive my ignorance but there is no way to extract what we need from someone that has a U.S. note 5 and side load it?
I have the SM-N9200 , and I've managed to get the Oculus store installed but trying to launch anything brings me right back to the set up wizard.

I'm sure there is, just a matter of time. Know anybody with a US Note 5 willing to help?

I've been looking to see if it's possible to install a custom rom that supports gear vr, but no custom roms for the 9200. At this point, I'm almost leaning towards selling my 9200 and buying an unlocked 920L or 920C...

That's fine if you don't need TD-LTE, still not optimal though. I reckon sometime after thanksgiving the files will make there way to the internet and we can stick it to Samsung.

Actually, 9200 is the same model they sell in mainland china so I can't imagine them leaving that entire massive market. Let's hope a solution comes up soon.
I have a n920w8 and there's not even Gear VR in my list of apps in "application manager". Need some help.

What you can try doing is download the oculus mobile SDK from here:
https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/
Then copy the oculus cinema apk over to your phone and install it. When you run that app, it should trigger the oculus installation wizard. That's where I get stuck though, it just goes into a "Network Error" loop for me when I try to progress but maybe you'll have more luck with your model.
Noted, I'll give this a try. If that network error loop is the same one you were getting before, then I wonder if Samsung's servers are actually detecting and blocking devices based on model number? Samsung is really worse than Apple about this stuff...

Most likely they are trying to download some low-level software based on the model number and there is nothing listed for our model - hence the "network error" message. Hopefully someone can share the required apk that we need for the fundamental software.
Anyone had any luck getting this working?

Nope, sadly I've been too busy to tinker around with this. Pretty much just waiting for an update or hoping somebody magically posts the correct software online...
Does anyone try to root their phone and change the build.prop file? e.g. Change the model number to G928F(Europe model )
I saw someone did these on their Note 4 and S6 which made the setup wizard run.
I haven't try it because there is no matured third party's ROMs so far.

I'm worried that this would have some seriously bad implications because the 9200 has a different modem chipset than the european/us models. That would probably work if the hardware was very similar and just had minor regional differences.

Sorry, I didn't make that clear. You don't/can't flash in a firmware from another model in another region. What you do in the build.prop file is to simply change a name. Only thing you need is to get root on your current ROM.

Help Please!

I recently purchased a Galaxy S6 from a third party seller on Amazon. After the phone had been delivered, my preferred carrier informed me that not only was a specific model(SM-G920T) required, but it also had to be one of these build numbers.
MMB29K.G920TUEU3DPD6, MMB29K.G920TUES4DPF1, MMB29K.G920TUES4DPH2, MMB29K.G920TUEU4DPG2
I contacted the seller and they do not have one of these builds in stock.
My build is the MMB29K.G920TUVU3EPD1
As far as I know the differences between my phone and the ones accepted is only relative to software. Is there a way that i can install a rom that would reflect one of the accepted builds or that I could somehow trick the carrier into thinking that it is the correct version. I know next to nothing so please if you can make the answers as simple as possible.
My phone is running Android 6.0.1
It is the T-Mobile variant.
I am attempting to get it to work on Republic Wireless.
Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

Best region with all the features (SpO2, BP, ECG)

I'm planning on changing regions but I'm not sure which one to use. What would you guys recommend?
Also, can this be done after a reset of the watch or do I have to go through the whole CSC process?
I was asking myself the same question last night. I searched all the threads related to BP and region change with no luck.
I was also trying to find the combination and stock roms for TK1 version but seems like all the sites that have the files are pay to download. (I don't mind paying but paying around $20 to get 2 files?)
Anyway, if anyone know the answer to the OP's question, I will also appreciate it.
ZTO everything works
Hi everyone, I’m writing from Italy.
In October I bought a galaxy watch3 LTE from Amazon.USA and imported it here in Italy, cause it was not available yet here, it was released in the lte version only recently.
I didn’t know that the watch was not compatible here in Italy, but only for the US, and after the last update of a week ago I’m having issues with the watch, like connection problems, notifications not appearing on the watch and also the LTE is not working.
I tried to contact both Samsung US and Amazon US, but they both told me that they cannot do anything to help me, no replacement or return, nothing.
So I searched online if there was a way to change my watch software from US to Italy, and with my extreme surprise I found out that there is the possibility to change the region of the watch to every country in the world.
My questions are: what can I do to change the region of my US galaxy watch3 LTE? There are any compatible ways to do that? Will the change of the region prevent my watch to get future updates? And after the change will I be able to use LTE here in Italy?
Thanks to everyone who will reply!!
P.S. I have to change the current SM-R845U (that is a US version) to an SM-R845F (that should be an Italian version, right?)
