I've got a stock Rom with stock recovery, only rooted. Is there a way to get ota updates(at least the security patches) the "normal way"?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 6 mit Tapatalk
It may work if you can uninstall all traces of root.
Otherwise, no...much easier to download factory image, unzip and flash system.img manually via fastboot anyways.

Hi, so I have a Motorola Razr I running the Brazilian Retail JB rom with unlocked bootloader and root.
My friend who has the same phone as me suggested me to install "AIO mod v6" from Arman. He gave me all the files needed and I went to work with it. However, he didn't tell me i need to have a EU JB rom and all the system apps ( I had done the very stupid thing of deleting system apps instead of freezing them). After i installed now the phone is stuck in the boot logo and when i try to flash a new rom with CWM it just gives out a error Status 7 since I don't have all the system apps I think.
Do i have any way out of this mess?!
Please help!
Thanks.

I just tried doing that but i get this error on RSD Lite "Failed flashing process. Unknown fastboot command...". Also on RSD for some reason no information of my phone is showing up on Device Properties.
Could you please help me out?
You connected in AP Fastboot Mode?
The Fastboot File is extracted without an error and your Drivers are actual?

Finally figured out the Problem. The XML file of the brazilian retail rom had a line of code with GET VAR and it was messing up everything.
So after i edited the xml file i managed to follow your instructions and it worked perfectly.
I couldn't do it without your help! Thank you so much!
Hi all,
I made a mistake during flashing stock recovery via adb. I have flashed recovery.img to boot sector. I wrote bad command to command line. Now I have only fastboot rescue mode. What to do?
If you have fastboot...flash new via ADB.
Flash the right Boot img and keep smiling.

Now it is ok. I flashed right boot.img and recovery.img (i had TWRP) and i made default installation of system by dload folder
Thanks to XDA.
Quick question: will my phone boot with TWRP and root installed if I re-lock my OnePlus 3's Bootloader? I don't plan on flashing any custom ROMs and kernels until the Dash Charge driver is implemented, which is not for a while; however, I still wish to be able to boot into recovery and perform root-related operations on my device. I'm pretty tired of seeing the Secure Boot warning about unlocked Bootloader.
Edit: Whoops, I didn't mean to post in the Discussion and Guides section of the forums... My B; I'll be more careful next time
Can't do it. Your phone will brick itself until you are stock.
Whene i unroot and flash stock recovery can i re lock?

Hi there,
here some instructions and files for updating your Phone from Nougat to Oreo.
And how you can try a treble build and how do you come back to Stock Rom.
We start with updating Nougat to Oreo (B321_L29_C636) :
Delete fingerprint and lockscreen pin before you update!
Backup Apps etc with Huawei Backup
Extract the folder of this zip on your external sd card:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817906626617955728
and flash oreo_update.zip with twrp.
Then its boot into nocheck recovery and install oreo.
After reboot your bootloader is still open and all apps are still there.
But you need to login to all your running accounts again. Game datas are lost too.
Some things like Themes are not working right now and you have the wrong build number.
We fix that now :
Reboot into fastboot and flash oreo twrp. (fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_oreo.img)
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329072916
boot into twrp, flash supersu for oreo and reboot.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745849072291698567
Thanks to "LastStandingDroid" for modified supersu.
Install a root explorer and browse to the following path:
/cust/hw/ rename "spcseas" folder to "eu"
/version/special_cust/VKY-L29/hw/ rename "spcseas" folder to "eu"
/data/hw_init/version/special_cust/hw/ rename "spcseas" folder to "eu"
then reboot.
For VKY-L29C185:
/cust/hw/ rename "spcseas" folder to "meafnaf"
/version/special_cust/VKY-L29/hw/ rename "spcseas" folder to "meafnaf"
/data/hw_init/version/special_cust/hw/ rename "spcseas" folder to "meafnaf"
If something not working well please make a factory reset with original recovery.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329071154
flash with fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk Original_Recovery_B321.img
Later i will add the treble part!
Here you can take a look:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659
I'm not responsible for any bricks.
Thats how I did it and its working fine.
We solve it with rename instead of flashing data file because it will come request for other firmwares.
I add a Rollback later.

Everything work for me. If you want make a factory reset after install flash original recovery before. I upload it later.

Is it suitable for VKY-L29C185 model?
Added rename instructions for VKY-L29C185

Ok if I have acces to internal storage I will tommorow morning install Oreo. Is some chance you upload stock recovery to tommorow morning? Ou, anyway I can extract it from main zip (update.zip)? One more Q, if I flash stock recovery I don't need supersu and basically I can relock bootloader with stock recovery right?

Here is the original recovery but i would not relock the bootloader. Its possible that you brick your phone.

My model is vkyl29c185 running fromfuture 201 without rebranding

Hi Blackball. First of all, thank you for beeing here helping us.
I have a little trouble. Of course my p10 plus is making weird stuff. I've downloaded the oreo zip file into my phone, and sent to my SD root (with es explorer pro). Booted on twrp, and launched the zip, but I get an error, zip signature failed, followed by invalid zip file format.
I am on fromfuture b201 . Shouldn't it work with this ROM?

Slightly off-topic question:
I'm considering getting this phone, but,I was curious if the EMUI PC-Desktop mode (found on the Mate 10/Mate 10 Pro) is included in the Oreo update for the P10/P10 Plus ?
At the moment it's not included

Thank you for the prompt response, it's greatly appreciated.
Still interested, considering this vs the Mate 10 Pro.
TBH, I'd seldom find a real world use scenario for the Desktop Mode.
For myself, the expandable storage & front FPR/nav button trump the Desktop Mode, if forced to choose between the two,not to mention the price difference
Will likely order a P10 Plus by the end of the week/upon sale of my Sony XZP.
Once again @Blackball , thank you for the prompt response. :good:

What was your stock firmware before you tried to root your device (nougat, Oreo)? Which TWRP version you used? Have you flashed the no-varity-opt-encrypt zip file after flashing TWRP? Which Odin version you have used?
Have you rebooted into TWRP after format data partition?
You see, questions over questions. To help you useful we need much more informations.

The "How to" method from Dr. Ketan isn't the best. It's based on flashing his Rom after flash TWRP and root.
Best "how to" is this from geiti94
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=73817280
You only need newest TWRP version from zeroblade if you on Oreo firmware and Odin v3.13.1.
For your security warning issue you only need to delete the securityLogAgent.apk in system/app/

Does i must use dm-verity and force encryption disabler???? Like i say i have now root access and work fine but only dont know does i have twrp im scare to boot in what can i do in case if i again not have twrp and only stock recovery
If you don't have TWRP you need to flash it again. Including format data partition again. And yes, you need the no varity opt encrypt app file!
You could boot into TWRP and check if you can mount data. If you can't, your data partition is still encrypted.
If you want to flash a custom Rom or a flashable zip, you need a custom recovery like TWRP. So i would make this work at first.

Normally, on every device boot, the system is checking if data partition is encrypted. If it isn't, it will encrypt it again.
With that zip file, the encryption on boot-check will be disabled.

Try flash what you want. Maybe your data partition is unencrypted and it works.
If not, you need to do the procedure with format data partition again.
