Chat InformationThank you for choosing Samsung. A representative will be with you shortly.
Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Lionel'. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.
Chat InformationYour Issue ID for this chat is LTK11256012806194X
Lionel: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Canada support. How may I assist you today?
John Goedhard: Hi Lionel, I have a Samsung Galaxi Tab S2 with LTE and it will not charge. Right side of unit is very warm to the touch. Unit is less the 30 days old
Lionel: I understand your concern regarding the tab is not charging.
Lionel: Let me check my resources and assist you with the required information.
Lionel: What is the model number of the tab?
Lionel: It is located on the rear panel of the device.
John Goedhard: I think sm-t817w
John Goedhard: confirmed it is that
Lionel: Thank you for the model number.
Lionel: When did the issue start?
John Goedhard: this morning
Lionel: Okay. Are you using the original Samsung charger?
John Goedhard: I turned it off last night unplugged with 60% left on battery woke up to dead
John Goedhard: yes I am
John Goedhard: tried holding the power button for a min nothing
Lionel: Alright. Charge the tab now and check if any battery indicator is being displayed in few minutes?
John Goedhard: there is but stays at 0% and tab get very warm to the touch on the right side
John Goedhard: it will turn on but then turn off once booted due to a dead battery
John Goedhard: turns it self back on to the Samsung screen logo then dies
Lionel: Alright. Charge the tab now for few hours and then turn it on and check if the issue persists.
Lionel: If the issue persists after few hours, the tab needs to be reset to factory defaults.
Lionel: Performing Factory/Hard reset will wipe out all the data (Contacts, Messages, Calendar data, Media Files) stored in the phone memory.
John Goedhard: ive been trying and leaving to charge all morning
Lionel: Please follow these steps to reset the Tab:
Lionel: 1. Power the device off
Lionel: 2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
Lionel: 3. When the device lights up, release only the Power key.
Lionel: 4. When the Android system recovery menu displays, release the Volume Up and the Home key.
Lionel: 5. Navigate with the Volume keys to the wipe data/factory reset option and press the Power key to select.
Lionel: 6. Navigate with the Volume keys to Yes-delete all user data option and press the Power key to select.
Lionel: 7. After user data deletes, press the Power key to reboot system now.
Lionel: Let me know when once it is done.
John Goedhard: how do I do the hard reset
John Goedhard: nm
Lionel: Before resetting make sure that it is charged for few hours prior.
John Goedhard: ok but it wont hold a charge
Lionel: Alright. Please unplug the tab from the charger and "Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key".
Lionel: Let me know what happens?
John Goedhard: nothing it dead,
Lionel: Alright. If possible charge the tab with any other different charger and check if that helps.
John Goedhard: begning screen will flicker on with usb cord attached
John Goedhard: tried different cords usb chargers. nothing
Lionel: Thank you for your efforts. I really appreciate it.
Lionel: Was the tab kept in charging from few hours?
John Goedhard: all morning
Lionel: Thank you for confirming.
John Goedhard: I did the "Please follow these steps to reset the Tab" got to the cay android screen but the turned off
Lionel: Thank you.
Lionel: We have performed the required troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue, since the issue persists it clearly seems to be an internal issue with the device and it requires a physical diagnosis by the service technician to fix it.
Lionel: Do you have the purchase receipt?
John Goedhard: I bought online from rogers so I should in an email
Lionel: Okay. What is the exact date of purchase and the place of purchase of the device?
John Goedhard: I plugged the tab in the computer and the charging bolt stays on
Lionel: Now press the power button for 15 seconds and check if the tab turns on.
John Goedhard: nope but gets very warm still on that right side
Lionel: Alright. May I know the postal code of your area?
John Goedhard: k1b5a5
Lionel: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.
Lionel: I appreciate your time and patience.
John Goedhard: March 19, 2016
John Goedhard: Purchase date
Lionel: Thank you.
Lionel: Please contact the below Samsung authorized service center for repairing the unit:

I have started this thread because my t715 just died. I have never got feedback about reason (got new one and it work perfect till now). My only idea how I killed it (maybe not true) is that I have used note 4 fadt charger. May be? @jgoedhard did you eventually did same ?

Diamond wont charge with dead battery

Nightmare.
Got my Diamond today, and charged it up.
It ran out 5 minutes ago, so I plugged it into the mains charger.
It vibrates, shows HTC and then gets stuck in a constant reboot. It's like it gets a little charge, uses it, then restarts the process.
I guess the battery is so dead that even the mains charger cant give it enough boost to start charging.
Help Please
If you only got it today then id be sending it back as it seems to be a faulty unit. Perhaps someone can give you a fix but if it was me, id be demanding a new working unit...you just never know what other faults the phone might have.
Good job I didn't Hard-SPL it straight away.
Damn, Always happens to me.
Are you trying to charge it with the wallcharger or by usb to a computer.
Beacuse if you are doing it by the computer there is an option on the phone that disables charging when conected to the computer.
Good luck dude.
Definately wall charger.
I think it's f(***d
I'll go back to my Kaiser and wait for the Raphael I think.
i would first try to charge the battery device turned off!
i noticed that the led in center button does not blink in the beginning but it should charge!
after a while try a hard reset!
Tried the following:
I cant switch off the device as soon as power is applied via USB it switches on. Tried holding the power button down but nothing.
Tried entering bootloader but same reset loop.
Tried hard reset, gets to grey screen with blue text but then reset loop again.
I tried leaving the battery out for half an hour and trying again but soon as usb is in it powers up and reset loop.
I put a multimeter on the battery and it is dishing out 3.7v as expected.
I think the device is knacked, even though I was using it for most of the day.

don't even touch the power button!
the device should not start if you touch nothing and just plug the powercable!?
i don not think that you press the powerbutton accidentally while plugging the cable, i hope i'm right?
Without touching the power button, I plug in the charger and the phone vibrates and starts.
From dead:
1. Plug in charger
2. I get 2 swirls of white on the round button thing
3. Phone vibrates
4. Smart mobility logo shows
5. Phone reboots
GOTO 1:
i miss the touch diamond screening with rom version etc.
normally it shows up before the htc smart mobility screen.
i don't think the battery is the badguy. seems more a fault in ipl or spl?
You're right.
I was wrong when I said smart mobility.
It comes up with TOUCHDiamond across the centre of the screen and right where the little red numbers USUALLY appear in the bottom right, it reboots before that.
To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see message on the screen
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset
save this info on your computer
Sorted!
I left the battery out overnight, and when I came to work this morning, I plugged it into the charger and it didn't automatically start up so it got a good 3/4 hour charge which then enabled me to fire it up for a full charge.
congrats! i hope for you that this problem doesn't come back!
Sounds to me like it also could have been the power button was jammed pushed in. Maybe leaving it for a while without pushing the button did the trick, allowing it to release itself.
In case that was the problem, keep an eye on the power button in case it seems to be a bit dodgy. If it is going to do it again, then you want to swap it immediately for a replacement brand new unit. After a while, if you try to swap it out, they will give you a refurbished unit, not a brand new one!
Of course it could have just been a software bug, that was cleared by letting it fully power down (as others have said).
Just make your decision quick before you end up with a refurbished model for replacement.
Just to let you all know.
Over the weekend I fully charged my Diamond, and without even making a phone call or using WiFi, Bluetooth or anything the battery lasted 1.5 hours.
It's gone back to clove now for a replacement.
I've seen a few people having this issue so I advise getting it back for replacement asap.
My diamond got very hot during normal use (without charger). Is that normal? Not the battery but the actual device.

no. it does not
I have charged it for more than 4 hours and still it does not turn on.
I called T-mobile and they are telling me since it was bought in Dec I have to call Samsung. I called Samsung and they are open Monday through Friday 9am-5pm.
I have insurance on it and I asked T-mobile what am I paying insurance for and they told me only if its broken or has water damage can it be replaced under the insurance.
So I will take it to the TMO store today to see if there is something they can do....

i am waiting to hear from Samsung. lets hope they have good news.
I will keep you posted.
I had a similar thing happen to me last week as well. I went to sleep, and then didn't want to turn on anymore. I had it plugged into the computer and after about 30 minutes, it turned on.
Yeah... it's mine too and I solved by press the Power button while another finger touching on Screen just about 1~2 min and it wakes up. I don't know what is the reason while the TAB doesn't turn on.
FYI
Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions. Tab is on its way to texas to the samsung repair center. I will not see it again for over a week. So sad
tab you will be missed. I hope you return with some treats :i

[Q] Dying at 17% battery

My Nexus 6 is dying at around 17% battery. I've tried using battery calibration apps to fix it but they haven't worked. I've also factory reset, and went from LMY47D to LMY47M, both of which would die at 17%. Any suggestions?
What you mean by die at 17%?
Does it shutdown automatically at 17%, and you can't turn on by pressing power menu. Right?
Then how you overcome from this situation? By charging your device again?
I had a similar issue. This helped:
1. Power off your phone.
2. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons. This will put the phone in fastboot.
3. Use the Volume buttons to scroll through the menu until you see "Bootloader logs"
4. Press and hold the power key for a long time (7+ seconds) until the phone reboots.

The phone shuts down at 17% and when I try to turn it back on, it shows the battery dead icon and won't turn on. After charging it for about 30 seconds it'll turn back on and say it has about 18% battery.

It seemed to work for me. Phone drained to 5% and automatically shut down. Charged it to full without booting, so if it still behaves, it fixed me.
How did you discover this "fix"?

I can't remember, sorry. It was whether here on xda or on google forums.
For me this issue started after I used my (original) Nexus 5 Qi charger with my N6. Almost the same problem as you described but on my N6 it was 17 %. Tried the workaround mentioned above, sold my N5 with the Qi charger and the problem disappeared. It's been a while now. Guess 2 months...

I tried this again, this time holding the power button until "Google" appeared on the screen (The first time I let go when the screen turned off) and it seems to have worked! I'm on the second cycle now and the phone reached 0% the first time and I'm at 12% now.
Good news! Hopefully this will last.
Btw: do you use the original turbo charger or a qi station?

thanks, i know the trick now. I had to scroll to bootloader log, press power once, then long press the power button for reboot. it'll turn off the phone if i did not press power once, i think.
that's what happened to me.
I have the same problem though my phone powers down at varying percents (15-60%) all well above the level where the batter should be expiring. I Googled and found a number of suggestions. None worked including the "Bootloader Logs". My phone will power down 2-3 times a day. Finally called Google and asked for a replacement.

Stop using the Qi charger for a while and retry the workaround. Don't charge your phone with a Qi station for the next few days - just to verify whether Qi is causing your problem or not.

I may not make it much farther than the end of the week testing since I RMA'd this back to Google.
Can verify I charged overnight on the included charger.
I have had two power downs so far today.
These however did not require me to plug into power in order to turn the device back on.
Did a complete system wipe. Within two hours the phone completely powered off on its own (about 37% power displayed). Set the phone up as new -- did not restore prior apps. Replacement is on the way.
FYI:
Last weekend I accidentally charged my N6 with my friends charger. Guess what happened? My phone started to randomly shut down. I went through the workaround steps again and fully charged my N6 with the original turbo charger and - surprise, surprise - no more shutdowns.

I don't have the link, but I found a google support thread on this issue. The bootloader trick apparently clears the battery stats.
I am guessing that some 6's don't play well with non-stock chargers and that causes reading issues, leading to over charging and battery life messed up, my phone was fine, then it started acting up again. I haven't seen a permanent fix for this and plan to RMA my phone.

Phone Switched Off. Now Refuses To Charge (?)

So, The phone was working fine in the morning. I remember charging it in the morning as well. After a few hours, the phone suddenly switched off as I was saving a number. I thought maybe the battery was used up (?)
So, I put it to charge. But I do not see any charging screen or indicator. All I see is the notification led blinking 10 times! It's been charging for an hour now. No response from screen. The led blinks again for 10 times when I long press the power button.
Please respond on what may be wrong!
First of all, which model?
Second, does the phone connect to your pc?
Third, what about warranty?
If bootloader is locked try taking it to your nearest service center..

It's the Le Eco Le 2. And connecting it to the pc gives the same blinking lights. Although I did hear a device connecting sound alert..
And the led blinks continuously for quite some time before going off.
And I purchased it online last year november.

The problem is the 'nearest service center' is hours away. I can't take a leave at work for now just to give this to the service center. That'll take some time. The downside of buying phones from such companies I guess

Isn't there a hard reset button slot ? I remember the older phones with non removable battery having them...

Just found out ,the phone connects to the pc. It automatically goes into Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 mode. Is there any way to flash, reset it?
am have an issue, my phone went off on low battery on Sunday, the battery actually drained, was blinking led light before, when charged , but now nothing is displaying and the phone wont boot up! charged it last night still same issue, charged again this till afternoon, noticed only the lower part of the phone is hot and the charging port, but wont come up. held the power button for 2 minutes nothing, please i need help:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Just to tell that my phone was also in this mode, red blinking light, and qhusb mode in computer. I got out trying key combinations and connecting to pc usb.
the last one that worked was pressing power for 10s and then connecting to pc. then the letv logo apeared and it booted normally
I had the exact same issue a few months prior. You'll need to change out your USB-C daughter board or your battery. One of them has got shorted.
