Error with Samsung Ativ S - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I have a problem with my Samsung Ativ S. I have pushed the power button and since then I always get the following message:
Error: Unable to find a bootable option. Press any key to shut down.
I have already tried to take out the battery overnight and also hard reset but this does not work. When I try the hard reset (volume button down + power button until there I hear a continuous vibration) I always come again to this message above.
Can anybody help me with this.
Thank you in advance.

did you try to re-flash the firmware?

[Q] Power reset or unknown upload mode after flashing CM10

Hello guys!
While flashing to CM10 from CM9, my phone rebooted and stopped into screen "Power Reset or Unknown upload mode", no keys are pressed while booting. Any ideas how to fix this? I discharged battery completely and put it again but still this screen shows up.
any idea?
try to enter download mode it seems that kernel is broken
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
Enter download mode, and then using odin just install any custom firmware or a stock firmware !
Hope it helps ! :fingers-crossed:
i've tried home + vol down+ power button
only logo of Samsung showed up, after that annoying message "Power reset......"
any idea?
Are you able to boot into CWM? if yes, ask someone if he can take your sd card and download a CWMflashable zip to it. The plug it into your own phone and flash... :fingers are crossed for you:
------------------------------
working on:
SuperRom64 (2.3.6)
Project Stock (4.0.4)
whatever i'd press, all the time i see samsung logo and after 30 secs an error message.
1. Switch off your mobile.
2. Now, press and hold the volume up key and the power button. Leave both buttons when you see the SAMSUNG logo.
3. After "Galaxy S" splash screen you will get a white box and android logo image like below, then press menu soft key and wait some second.
4. If you boot into recovery, then wipe everything and then flash the ROM.
And it seems that you have managed to brick your mobile ! But try this I hope it solves your problem.

Help! Soft Bricked? "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue..."

Was following this to the letter:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_quincytmo
At Step 6, I did not notice a blue bar. Last I remembered I tried to move on to step 7 when the error came up.
I cannot go back into download mode. I did some searching and can't find suitable answers... some people are trying to reinstall stock roms and drivers... where can I get that for this phone?
Please help, this sucks. First day with this phone.
Got this fixed. For anyone else in the future that has to go through what I did... Install Kies, then followed up to step 9 with this guide:
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...y-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
Phone rebooted fine.
Can anyone help with what the button combination is to launch recovery or CWM? The buttons I'm using seem to differ from every guide I've read... eg. holding volume down starts the device in safe mode... to access download mode I hold volume up, down and power, then release power and wait for the warning.
CWM is supposedly up, power and home but I can't get that to work...

Error message when starting

was with the original rom lg. and then went instalr the recovery of the cyanogen rom manager app, and then hung up the phone and now the message appears in red at the top of the screen
"Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel.
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002)"
and I can not get into download mode to install the original rom again.
and now what do I do? I lost my phone?
you flashed cwm without unlocking your bootloader. re-flash latest jellybean kdz file for your phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723, then read some more about unlocking bootloader, and then start again.

" Now just hold down vol - key ( hold hold hold dont release !!!! ) and plug the USB cable until you get screen like this :-"
he does not. whenever I do this it only vibrates strong and goes to the screen with the error message. I do not know why that. remember one time it happened to me already but can not remember how I resolved it is possible to even lose the download mode?
Its not possible afaik. Are you sure you are holding only vol - key and plugging in? Dont hold power key!
yes, I'm almost the whole day trying to get into download mode by pressing volume down + connecting the usb. and whenever it vibrates strong and hangs on lg logo. tried to volume up + usb connect. and no download mode. I'm going crazy with this phone. otherwise hesitate to hard reset? or other shortcut to download mode?

hard reset wont help you, as far as i know, you somehow need to enter s/w upgrade screen. did you try it with battery out?

Hi Raphael20 and everyone else,
Did you manage to figure out a solution to this? I have the same issue, i.e. cannot start my phone by holding the power button. Not even when people suggest to get to the S/W Update screen by holding the Volume down + plug into the computer.
I got to this error when I tried to do a factory reset. I installed the ClockworkMod Recovery. Then the factory reset via Volume up + Power button gave me the "Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel" error. I somehow managed to get access to my phone by holding the Volume down + plug into the computer. Then tried to do a factory reset via the system settings of my phone. My phone restarted and then gave me the "Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel" screen of death! Now Volume down + plug into the computer gives me the "Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel", no matter whether I have restarted my computer and I have tried another computer. It seems that the bootloader is wrecked.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Turn on the phone, and when you see kernel is not seandroid enforcing press and hold Volume Up, Home, and Power button at the same time until you see a warning. Then press Volume Down to cancel. Now wait for it to reboot, it should boot up normally.
I tried that, but it takes me back to the same screen that I was getting the original error

Update it via Smart Switch.
This worked for me
So I tried all this. This finally worked.
What I did was from power off, help up volume, home button and power button at the same time. Then I pressed wipe cashe and then factory reset and went down to yes. Then I turned the phone off even after it failed and got the continuos error. Then I turned the phone off. Then I pulled the battery and waited approximentally 1 minute. Then I put the battery back in and put the back cover on it. After that, I help the up volume and power button only (NOT THE HOME BUTTON THIS TIME!). Then I waited approximentally 3 minutes for the logo to just flash samsung over and over again and then BAM!!! It worked.
