HI all,
On february 16 my provider network SFR (French in Paris) had some issues, I lost my gsm and 4G and since I can't turn on 4G and Wi-Fi on my HTC at the same time as I used to do before, now the 4G icon disappear when the Wi-Fi is turned on and I can read " Use my data plan when Wi-Fi isn't available" instead of "connected".
It seems that the 4G is in sleep mode, the icon comes again and data "connected" if I receive or send a MMS then disappear again.
If the wi-fi is turned off, I have the data "connected" with the 4G icon, as usual.
I have reset the SFR apn, still same, I have contacted their support, they say that it's normal for a smartphone to use Wi-Fi and not 4G all together, but I did when i wanted !
Now I can't, is any of u had this problem, know the cause and how to solve it?
Thank u in advance.
Do you have an option of automitically connect to 4G when wi-fi is poor turned on? It is in wi-fi's advanced options

Hi Guys
well did a search and couldn't find a topic about this, however if there is Sorry.
Anyways got my 02-Uk simplicity yesterday and set 3g and MMS up all fine, and was working fine, however today I came to work which is a bit out in the sticks so hard to get a 3g signal, and because of this i noticed I lost all signal.
after playing around I noticed that switiching it to "2g networks" i managed to get a full edge connection. My question is how come if it loses the 3g connection does it not revert back to a 2g network? I know there is a 2g connection beacuse if i do it manually it works. is there a way to do it automaticly?
also i do have data roaming connection active, and can post my APN details if anyone thinks that will help reslove the issue.
Thanks
matt
Brought mine in to t-mobile to ask the same question. they said just stick to 2g only when you're not in a known 3g area. They also recommended just turning data roaming off
I have the same problem with my Goophone Y6.
2 solutions I know:
1) Flightmode on/off
2) Reboot
This is very anoying, because the bug apperas again. One question: Do you lose signal when you turn your display off or after approximately 5 minutes?
Hi Guys, I changed my ROM to Froyobread v23b (thanks doixanh!) I noticed that the 3G or H icon is not showing even when I set to "Data enabled"
Does it mean data is not enabled or is it just the icon that is missing..
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Edit: I tried a full wipe already, same thing
I think it is your data that is not enabled. It has happened to my father. The operator network informed him that internet via data was enabled but when he turned on data, the icon was not appearing. The other day they informed him that internet via data was still not enabled and as soon as the operator network enabled it, the icon appeared. So check this...
Thanks Chris!
I checked my network operator and they told me that it is automatically enable after installing the settings they sent me.
I already installed what they sent but apparently it's still not working..
Any other suggestions?
Maybe your phone is using 2G/3G options in networks, which means it automatically selects the network, but in fact I get issue with this, I usually set is manually. Try see this, maybe your phone is trying 2G signal and is not getting answer from provider. You can set a widget to choose between 2G and 3G networks
Hello everyone. Been wrestling with this all day. I purchased a barely used samsung galaxy tab 8.9 AT&T 4G LTE. It works fine with wifi, but I want to use it on my worksite where there is decent signal, but no wifi. Bought an AT&T SIM card, and put it in. I have full bars (signal), but no internet access. I have packet data turned off, as some forums have indicated this could fix it, but to no avail. With wifi turned off, the tablet status still says mobile network disconnected. Anyone have any ideas of what I could try? Thanks for any help.
EDIT: With packet data turned on, AT&T's data tracking widget says initializing, then goes to connection failed. With packet data off, it shows appropriate data usage (0mb at this point) and displays signal, but it still says no internet connection.
Did you get the right plan provisioned for the SIM? The Tab 8.9 is configured to use the "Broadband" APN by default so if you're not provisioned for that it won't work.
You need a data plan and a lte sim.

I hope this is in the proper forum and hopefully the question has not been answered yet. I did a search and have found some threads but not this exact question.
So anyway...I have a Rogers (Canada) HTC One M7 running 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 6.0,
Lately I have been roaming in the USA and have incurred roaming charges even though I set my Data Roaming setting to Off (no check mark). It seems to only happen when I am roaming. Basically this is what happens.
The Data Roaming Setting is set to Off all the time.
I go into the US and lose data connection as I start to roam. This is fine.
If I turn off Mobile Data and then later turn it back on, I get the "You are roaming and incur charges..." pop up box.
The only options are OK or Cancel
Choosing Cancel keeps the Mobile Data Off
Choosing OK turns ON Mobile Data and the Data Roaming setting is suddenly set to ON (there is a check mark where previously there wasn't) and I now incur charges.
Is this by design? Shouldn't the Data Roaming setting stay off, even if you turn on/off the Mobile Data? I am not sure if this is a Phone Issue, and Android issue (OS or corrupted OS) or a Rogers (cell provider) issue or a Roaming (cell provider) issue.
I am hoping someone can enlighten me on this behaviour.
Thanks in advance.

I guess i am having the reverse effect to your problem, my data roaming keeps switching off.
With data roaming enabled, and network selection on automatic. Whenever I am in a no signal area with my home network provider, the phone should automatically roam on a partner network for mobile network and data network. (I can confirm this works when tested on a few Samsung phones). However on my HTC, the mobile network roaming works (calls and text) but data roaming does not work. It connects momentarily then disconnects and stays disconnected and wont re-enable until a reboot. If i manually select a network (either home network or roaming network) and then restart the phone, the mobile data will stay enabled. But as soon as there is a switch between home or roaming network then the data disconnects and cant reconnect until the next reboot.
I was wondering if this could be a hardware limitation or software limitation.

I personally don't think it is a hardware issue, although it may be a software bug and an issue with the roaming provider. I believe that the data roaming setting gets "reset" once the phone mobile data setting is turned back on on a foreign network. I think that the HTC "sees" a foreign network and does not know what to do so it either gets the setting from the roaming provider or just defaults to a set setting.
In my case, I had lots of support calls with Rogers and according to them, my data roaming settings are probably resetting based on the roaming provider when the mobile data setting is turned back on. I actually video recorded what happens and sent it to Rogers when I was roaming. Once they saw it, they told me that any unintentional roaming charges will be credited back.
They did not tell me if it was a software issue or a roaming issue. However, I also tried the same setting using an old iPhone4S and a Samsung Galaxy S3 and both worked fine under the same conditions. That is, the settings were retained.
Whenever I turn on the Wifi on my Nokia 8 and connect to any wifi hotspot whilst my phone is on 3G UMTS, the 'Mobile network type' under SIM status (found in About phone -> Status) would show 'IWLAN'. My mobile signal app (Network Signal Info by Kaibits) would not show any network mode.
I must note that I have no trouble receiving or making calls on 3G whilst leaivng Wifi on. However, I do not have VoWifi (Voice over Wifi) enabled, and Telstra (my carrier) does not support VoWifi on the Nokia 8.
What's happening here?
I have this behavior as well. I assumed that the modem is kicking down to the lower speed data network to save power. As soon as I turn WiFi off, it switches back to the faster data network.
