Nexus 6 Flex Cable - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I ordered a new back for my Nexus 6 because my previous one was peeling off (I've replaced it before) and in the process of changing it today, the ribbon cable running from the mobo to the little connector that attaches it to the volume and power button ribbon cable ripped in half.
I was able to fiddle with it until I could turn the device back on but I can't repair it (unless someone knows how to temporarily connected a torn ribbon cable).
Anyhow, I can order one relatively cheap no problem but it won't be here for a week. Without that cable, the phone doesn't seem to charge. The battery indicator (I'm using CyanogenMod 13) shows that it's charging but it doesn't and if I go into the battery settings it says "Not Charging".
So, I may have to go back to my Nexus 4 for a bit but I was wondering if anyone on here might have access to one of these cables (http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/BpIAAOSwZ1lWd8H7/s-l225.jpg) in or near Canada that I could pay to ship it here really quickly.

Charging fault?

For a few days my phone hasn't been charging, and at first I thought it was a problem with the battery, but having bought a new one I've realised that when I tilted the charger to the left it would charge, but when it's just left it wouldn't, so I guess a bit of a miss-alignment.
Anyone got any ideas how I can fix this problem?
Cheers, nathaniel
try another cable and make sure it's the one that came with the phone. you should have a usb one and a ac adapter. if both are like that then you need to warranty it out.
Yeah, Ive tried it with the USB cable and the charger, I got the same result. Is there no quick fix, I'm going abroad in 9 days and quite need my phone...
There are a few discussions on bad USB connectors in these forums -- searching might provide some things to try.
From what I can remember, it's possible the pins in the connector (on the phone side) might be bent out of place -- you might want to inspect them with a magnifying glass and try to carefully bend them back if any seem out of place.
It's also possible that the connector itself is broken -- in which case you're looking at a service call.
this seems like the problem i faced. i was also facing the same problem and i read the forums here and found it as a usb port issue. so i slightly bent the usb port so that the contacts are aligned and then it started charging
Hey I would also recommend trying a new a new charger again because I have had my share of faulty chargers. Last time I had a problem charging was with a brand new cable that did not work right at the box from At&T and thought it was my battery until i tried another charger that worked. I would suggest trying the charger that is not working on another phone and see if its actually the charger or if it is your phone that is not working.

I think it is to do with the pins in the connector.
I had a search but I'm not very good on forums and I can't find anything of any use. Does anyone have a link?
Just look at the last few pages of topics, you should find something... there are threads about broken USB at least once a week.
One common conclusion is to avoid using USB cables other than the supplied one as their
plugs are a little thicker and tend to deform the phone's plug over time (I admit I always use others though, and as a result do sometimes need to wiggle the cable a tad and not move anything anymore once the connection is established... ).
I once dismounted my Hermes and tightened the plug back a bit, it helped, I've never done it with my Kaiser yet though. If you're not used to dismantling and fixing devices I'd recommend returning it for repair indeed.
I had a the opposite happen, it would charge but no data connection with my pc. If you look at your extUSB port on your phone, see if the black plastic tab is cracked (which was my case) or if the pins are shifted. whatever the issue, its obviously hardware related, take it to an At&t service center tell them whats wrong and if your in warranty they'll change it on the spot.

He got the same result using his USB cable so that would rule out the charger.

Im in England, took it to the T-Mobile shop, the service was rubish and without even looking at it they send I should send it off which would take 2 weeks. There is a crack in the black plastic tab

Flimsy MicroUSB Connection

I was surprised to see that, upon trying to charge the Nook Color for the first time, that the microUSB connector is very brittle to say the least. I was having a hard time even getting the nook end of the cable to be fully connected, because I was afraid I might break something. It eventually would go in with a violent SNAP sound, but it was still scary.
The next time I needed to transfer some files/charge, I tried one of my generic monoprice microUSB cables and didn't have the same issues. The connection was made with no fuss, and everything works the same. This may seem like an obvious thing to do, but, in case there's someone out there that hasn't tried a different cable and had the same concerns as me, it's a better route.
A regular microUSB cable doesn't have the power connectors on both sides (or something to that effect). I read a B&N support post over on their forums and someone mentioned trying another microUSB cable. Support warned they would only get a trickle charge without the actual Nook USB charger.
Had the same problem, almost like fishing around with the stock nook cable to get it to seat. My motorola works a little better, but still seems like a quality issue with the alignment of the micro USB on the bottom of my nook.
I think the nook wall to USB charger is 2 amp which is more then the standard 1 amp chargers that most phones and devices come with.
Does the stock cable have additional connections to light up the status light at the tip? A slow charge is better than possible snapping something off the Nook itself in my opinion.
No, the secondary power lines on the connector aren't just to light the status light though I'm sure that's part of the power draw. It'll just take you twice as long to charge. If you're an overnight charger, that might be alright for you.
I see. I also just checked the the ac adapter. It puts out 1.9A--way more than a standard USB charger. Maybe that has somethng to do with the special cable as well.

I also had some quality issue with the default cable. Changed the cable and it was fixed.
Mine was bought around Christmas, have they fixed that issue with the latest versions?
Don't think so, because I bought mine earlier this week. However, the USB connection with the factory cable seems to have been magically fixed. I have to be really careful, but the B&N cable fits better now. Strange.

DealExtreme - charging cable - mini review

So, I bought one of those $4 charging cables from Deal Extreme. Not bad, actually. A couple of initial thoughts:
#1) Shipping: 3 weeks from order to delivery. This is not some next day, in-house job. This is coming from Hong-Kong or some area in China and it will take the full 3 weeks from the time you order to it arrives at your door.
#2) It works. Charges just fine, plugs into the existing wall adapter. No worries.
#3) It crashed my PC. I don't know if it was the pulling of it out or the putting of it in, but my PC crashed, and my PC never crashes.
#4) It does not have the top labeled like the stock one does. No little white arrow / triangle.
#5) Fits just like stock. Once you get the orientation correct (little black tabs guide you), it fits in solidly with no worries.
For four dollars, I am extremely pleased. I'll use it with the wall socket, and I'll use my stock one for delicate operations like PC-to-Phone transfers.
Thank's for the review... I was wondering when mine would get here, it had been about a week and a half already.
[[ UPDATE ]]
My charging cable has stopped working. I think.
I let the battery completely drain, and then I tried using the Deal Extreme cable plugged into the wall. The phone threw up an icon for bad connection to cable. I unplugged and replugged several times. Eventually I left it all night. It did NOT charge.
I don't know if it just can't do it when it was completely dead battery, or if the cable itself just is broken or if it is just poor quality. I will keep experimenting.
i have had the same problems with 6ft cables from yourcharger on ebay, none work with my pc to sync and when charging one killed my battery like it was wired wrong and the phone started freaking out and the home screen froze and i had to remove the battery, and the other it doesnt even show i have a cable connected to the phone
I've experienced bad battery/charger error with $4 dealextreme cable.
The cause is extremely thin conductors inside the cable.
The solution is simple. You have to make it shoter. Just cut 55cm off, and connect the rest.
As a result - 20cm cable, which can be made longer with any quality usb extender.
I recently purchased the car charger that came with a usb/charger for $6.50 the build quality for the car lighter charger is pretty outstanding it even has all the safety and mfg. Stamps on it. The usb charger on the other hand is quite shabby and it took me a few tries to get the pin to go in correctly. Also didn't have an arrow to differentiate which side was which so I had to take a bright marker n mark it. All in all for the price and the usual long delivery time it was well worth the 7$ now I don't have to log around my stock usb cord everywhere

eBay battery charger for $2.50
Try this?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USB-US-Batte...ccessories&hash=item3cc3d3923b#ht_5170wt_1181
And buy an extra battery so that you have one charged while the other is in the phone.
How about transferring files from computer to phone and vice versa with the usb cable? Does that work?
Hate to say it, but this is hardware fault. I've had the same issue. It is weakness of the USB connector plate. Mine was quickly replaced.
You can try to push carefully the plugged cable and connector down - in direction of the battery cover. It helped me to charge the device a few times in order to flash back stock ROM and claim warranty repair.

Good luck !
Mainly i was asking since I'm in the USA and bought my note used. If it fails (and i know its hardware) what's my nest route for getting it fixed?
I was able to get it to charge by pulling spen out and it showed charging icon. Put pen back in and it charged over night???
Really weird?

Might sound wierd but i had the same issue after downgradibg from ics. I know how this soubds stupid but a combination of downgrading, flashing custom 4.2 kernal, and restoring titanium backup. 2 days i ciuldnt charge my phone with 10+ chargers i have.
After formatting my sd, flashing full wipe and starting fresh everything went back to normal. I couldnt tell you what happen.
I was getting dock mode, vlingo and charging on/off flashing across my screen when plugging in charger.
If its harware and you cant send in for warranty. I would suggest opening the phone and taking off the speaker part. Youll be able to see if the charging port is loose or any dirt etc is around. The charging port is $5 on ebay and i think requires soldering.

This is what you do. take the battery out and then take a plastic edge like credit card type edge or even a plastic screw driver or maybe a real metal small tiny screwdriver and push the USB pin strip inside the usb port inside the phone. Not down or up but push is straight inside without bending anything. meaning: apply enough force but don't try to destroy the usb post inside the phone. This will most likely solve your problem. now take a look at the cover of the phone you have bought. make sure you cut the opening of the usb post on the plastic cover so that it allows the micro usb cable to connect without any hindrance or difficulty. I think my phone cover had a small hole in the flexible after-market cover I had bought. I didn't allow me to fit in the micro usb cable to connect easily. I had to push it in, in a slight angle. maybe this is what loosened the usb port pins inside the phone.
good luck. if all fails, buy the usb port for your phone on ebay. type in samsung galaxy note flex usb port and you will see listings. It should take you 10 mins to change the port inside the phone.
Hi every1. I have got a wierd fault. I cant charge my phone but can charge external battery charger with usb lead only via laptop...... Anybody got any ideas as to fixing this...??? I have 2 batteries and have to swap and charge them every day.
Thanx.

[Q] HTC One: Slow Charge Issue

Hi there, I need some insight on this issue.
My M7 HTC One is giving me a slow charge notification with all my usb cords and wall adapters. I did a full reset with no success. Now I replaced the screen on my HTC One because it was cracked. I have it almost completely reassembled except for putting the back case on.
Now my thinking its I might of damaged the USB dock board in the phone when opening it up but it appears to be fine along with the battery. I'm ordering a new dock connector for the phone but do you think it could also be the battery that should be replaced as well? Not sure what else would give a slow charge notification other than the USB board...
Thanks in advance!
