[Q] Bootloader on Galaxy Note?

I previously have had experience in rooting, getting s-off on HTC phones (legend, desire, desire z) and currently have galaxy nexus.
On these phones you usually have to unlock the bootloader/hboot by some means, then you can flash CWM and apply root or flash roms.
My wife is getting Note so been doing some research. It seems with this phone its all about flashing a modified kernel to gain root or CWM. Does this phone have a bootloader, as I can't see anything about unlocking the bootloader? Is there no option to flash images through fastboot like with the galaxy nexus?

locked BL no root?

New Samsung S6 Edge owner here (Verizon), Ive only had Motorola phones since about 2004 (and non-smartphone), so this is a new experience for me with the Samsung. With my RAZR HD MAXX you could have root without unlocking the bootloader, but this is weird that you cannot root the Samsung with a locked BL?
Looks like I am going to have to forget everything I know about Moto and Ill be learning some new things...
Rooting just allows you access to secure system partitions (system/app and data/app) that we are normally locked out of,,,a unlocked BL is different in that is gives you access to the whole system to include recovery. I am sure this phone will get root at some point. Unlocked BL now thats a different story all together.

Thanks for the reply. I read somewhere (still looking for it and will post link when I find it) that said this Verizon phone cannot be rooted because the BL is locked. Thats why I was questioning it. That information is very different from anything I know about Android. Ive had an OG Droid, Droid 3, and RAZR HD MAXX all rooted, and the HD unlocked BL.
Unless something has changed, you can root without unlocking the BL. There may be some confusion with tripping the Knox counter for Samsung pay but thats all I know.

How to unlock the bootloader for Samsung galaxy tab a

I have a rooted Samsung galaxy tab a sm-t350 with marshmallow and have done a lot of searching. If anyone knows how to unlock the bootloader I'd greatly appreciate any help. Even if knowing it's not possible yet is the only answer.
If it is rooted that means the bootloader was already unlocked.

do new 713/813 have locked unlockable boot loaders?

Was thinking about getting a new tablet because my Amazon Fire 5th got bricked during a Flash Fire Lineage Update. Since it was 5.1.12 when I bought it and the bootloader was unlockable and there was no way to ever install TWRP, I don't know much about tablets but am looking for one I can install TWRP and custom ROMs. Are the 713/813 good choices or would another tablet be recommended?
Thanks

I've had great results with the t813
I've got a 713.
The bootloader is unlockable, had it rooted an hour after delivery, ran stock for a few weeks, have it running Lineage now, working just fine.
