Sorry...you have probably a fake note 5.
Check for sure the following application to check the phone informations.

I mean fake ones wouldnt be QHD, would be very slow, low benchmark obviously and it should never be able to run jelly bean.. if you go to about phone, you'll see software info, status, battery info, they should have N920 in them (specially baseband). Download an app like hardware info for more information about the device. But from what you described, it looks to be fake.

Fake IMEI number, Fake serial number.
The baseband leads to a website called 'CloneROM' which doesn't seem promising either.
You have a fake phone.

Changing the IMEI and serial number will be dependent on the hardware, a custom ROM will not change those.

I can't answer that question since that isn't my expertise. I would advise you to contact the seller of the phone and file a complaint.

You will obviously state what issues you have with the device.
That the device is fake.

It's certainly 100% fake. The site for CloneRom seems to be made for Chinese fake phone makers, What they all have in common is they use a octocore MediaTek (Which Samsung would NEVER use)
https://www.clonerom.com/category/galaxy-note-5
Also if you look at the base band date, it's from 2014. The Note 5 was officially released in Aug or so 2015 which is a dead give away it's fake. Also the IMEI is fake and could actually be blocked by carrier as there could be duplicates with that IMEI so they'll just block the phone so it doesn't take down the network. Each IMEI needs to be UNIQUE.
Go get your money back ASAP and buy a REAL Note 5 or Galaxy S7
Tell the guy you checked out the CPU, It's not meant to be a MediaTek (Only Exynos).
It's Running Kitkat instead of Lollipop.
It's got a bad Serial number and also bad IEMI (which is the worst thing)

stab him :| (after you take your money back)
end of the story

[Q] Question on Galaxy Note Model

Upon my recent move from Japan to mainland Asia, I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note that is not tied to any specific carrier, and I was wondering about the model Number. The phone gives the model as B920 in the "About Phone" section. Is this model number compatible with the ROMS listed in this section? I absolutely love this device, and would love to modify it the same way I have done my Asus Transformer Prime and my gTab. Thank you all for the help and information.

There is no such model I believe...
Android version/Baseband ver/Kernal ver/Build no./ ?
Any pictures?
Front/back/without backcover/without battery+backcover
I think you might have a bootleg dude.
Baseband: MAUI.11AMD.W11.19.SP.V2.2011/08/13 15:33
Android: 4.0.3
Kernal: 2.6.35.7
Build #: B9320_V1.4.5_20121521
Custom Build: 1337751970
It works great, but if it is a bootleg... oh well. That is a risk you take sometimes. I can always use it as a dedicated remote for my HTPC!
Thanks for all the help!

I think that's a fake
Go on sammobile and put your serial number on factory guarantee and see what comes up.

Not a real GNote , 100% sure of this. Good buy for a touchscreen remote control..
Thanks for the information. That is what I thought when I bought it. Touchscreen remote, here I come!!!
Did u not kno it was fake? U can just tell by the battery, no logo nothing. Does it perform well

The display model had all the necessary logos and the like, but when I started using it and playing with it, I noticed some differences. So I had an idea that it was fake, after the fact. That is why I came here to delve the depths of everyone's knowledge. It performs well, and does the job. Since it is a knock-off/ bootleg, I arm concerned about durability so it will be the remote control for my XBMC HTPC! A role in which it will shine.
Upshot of the whole story, yes, I got taken. First time ever when it comes to electronics. So I have to laugh instead of getting angry. Thanks everyone for all the information!
Went out an purchased a real one this time! and I absolutely love it. Thanks to everyone for helping realize that I had bought a knock-off. Boy do I feel kind of dumb.
Dude it's so totally obvious from the pictures it's a fake if you ever looked at a pic of a real one. Glad you got the genuine stuff as it's a completely different world.

About 4,500 Baht ($150 US). It came with ICS "pre-installed"!!! For everyone wondering, yes I feel less than smart about the whole situation. I can only laugh about the whole thing. It is working great combined with XBMC as a Media Center remote!
can I buy it?

How to identify a genuine HTC One?

I've been offered a Dual SIM HTC One, however I don't know the seller.
Are there a couple of test to check it's a genuine phone rather then a knock off copy?
Perhaps a google app that checks the processor and resolution or other identifiers?
Quality of build is subjective so that won't do it for me.

I guess id ask to check the phone and see the contents of the "about phone" part. Maybe run a benchmark app and see if everything is fine. antutu or quadrent willbe able to tell you the processor info for sure. Make sure both speakers work too. lol

also check build quality, check zoe, enter bootolader and verify if is an htc bootloader
If you have the chance to connect it to a PC run fastboot getvar all and verify that the model numbers match up to legit versions of the phone.

Xiaomi Mi3 - Suspected fake

Hi.
I have very little knowledge about Xiaomi phones but just got a Mi3.
I do unfortunately think it's fake however, and would like some sort of confirmation of that before contacting the seller.
- The USB-cable have the "MI"-logo which I understand is fake?
- The USB-adapter is labeled "inpei" and is a direct Samsung knock-off, it ever has the same model-nr: ETA-U90EWE as the Samsung charger, lol!
- The box says tenaa.com.cn which I saw in some Youtube video should mean that it's a fake.
- CPU-Z reports correct values, but when I do the "Online validation" the numbers are different.
For example: 960x540 resolution, 1GB RAM, 4GB flash, it does however show Snapdragon 800 here too, which seems strange? Why would they put such an expensive SoC in a cheap fake? Or is that value faked on a "deeper level" which still comes back faked through online validation?
What is however strange:
When I input S/N and IMEI on the MIUI-page the phone appears legit.
"This is a 3 Unicom version of millet phone pure white 16GB
Receiving Location:Shenzhen, Guangdong
Order Time:2014-05-03 15:21:34
Receiving the above information with your personal information does not match, please confirm whether the official channels of the purchase."
- It feels high quality and actually quite snappy.
- Xiaomi market and everything else seems to work just fine.
- It gets around 36000 in Antutu
Could someone PLEASE help my confirm once and for all that this is infact a fake, so that I can contact the seller ASAP! Thanks in advance.

[Finish] IMEI Change for Xiaomi mi3 w ARE possible!

Hi there!
I want to change my - I think - hardcoded IMEI into my chip qualcomm snapdragon 801 2,27 GHZ with android 4.4.4 and german decuro rom with root access onto.
But the threat -...de.robv.android.xposed.installer - and the app - ...com.vivek.imeichanger - don't work on my phone.
Does this -...qualcomm-snapdragon-imei-tamiri-ders-1 - work for me?
Or does someone know about a solution because I need them to see a simular IMEI from my nokia 3720 for my provider in my company.
kind regards!
It's actually illegal to change the IMEI, so we can't really help you with this. AFAIK though, there is currently no way to change the IMEI on the Mi3 without some expensive hardware.

As already said it's illegal. So you should not ask here on XDA.
There is an other way but will not tell it.
As stated this is illegal and against XDA rules. Thread closes

S/N decoding / How to figuring out the manufacturing date?

Hi guys!
How can I decode the S/N number to get to know the mfr date of the device?
It came with 10.0 + 2.1(UI) out of the box; is it a refurb. model?
It feels a brand new one, got from a mobile-operator (Telekom). IMEI check said 2020-07-21(edit: corrected the date) its a bit unbelievable me.(Is the S10 series still under production? Wow)
edit: *#12580*369# --> RF.call: 20200720
Thanks
Install the phone info app from play store and it should tell you the manufacturing date on the first page
edit: the app also has a "Refurbishment Check" which you may use to check to confirm your device's identity

Yes confirmed by local experience store and servics center, S10 is still under production after the info I get I searched after just cause of curiosity If they have ever posted or announced that, and I was suprised:

This + the recently announced 3 main version upgrade for their phones (that means S10 will still get android 12) make them way way consumer friendlier than anything before.
Changing from a P20 to an S10 now really feels like a pretty awsomse move.

thanks, i'll check out the app. i've also seen 3 major upgrades for 10+.
the problem with the 3rd upgrade is the s10+ has ancient hardware by that time.
Ancient? I dont think so this hw is 1,5 years old, the almost 3 years old Snap 845 is still a solid chipset for example if u are not gaming all day on your phone.
Nowdays chipsets are only evolving via benchmark perfomances the real speed difference through the system quicknes and stability is almost unnoticable for an average user if the system upgrade has been made optimized correctly.
