I just received a warranty replacement for my ATT Tilt (reception problem, it would drop signal and not pick it up again, not in a 3g area). I checked the device info to see if they had preloaded the updated rom--they did--and in the hardware section they listed the chip as a 7201, not a 7200 like my old one.
So, what is the difference between the 7200 and the 7201? I did a seach and couldn't really find anything.
Thanks.
o wow this may be very important actually.

I must admit, sheepishly, that I haven't done anything with it yet. I don't have time to string out the restore process, and I don't want to just restore from a backup, so I'm collecting all the cabs I need, at the moment. I should have it up completely tomorrow night.
Is there any file or anything I should be looking for?

OK,
I ran VSBenchmark--sound off--and got the following:
graphics: 1254
Others: 2178
JPEG: 2612
games: 1540
Sound: 0592
final score: 1635
so according to this, it's not any faster.
ugh..who knows.. maybe its nothing lol.
but i thought i remember hearing that the P6500 had this chip or something?
I just got my tilt last week and it also has the 7201 not any faster than other tilts though

For some reason this reply really makes me laugh inside. What your seeing is (my guess) the oem chip number finally being shown. This is the chip with the video gpu turned off. Why does everyone think it's going to be something better?

/cry... Seriously, I've given up hoping for awesome video performance from my Tilt. I'm running Dutty's latest release and it is plenty fast enough for me. I barely use my phone for talking, let alone video playback. We'll just have to wait for the Xperia to come out.

I was afraid of that. So, same chip, but new number to reflect what we <i>really</i> have.
In my not so humble opinion, I would say that maybe Qualcomm caught enough heat from people like us that they started requiring new phone to go out with the 7201 name instead of the 7200. Now they will have something to fall back on. Also the way that HTC has worded some of their replies to us just gives me the impression that this chip has been modded for them. Which is normal.

hey i was thinking that too, either improvement, or a big nail thru the processor disabling any possible drivers.
QUALCOMM(R) 7201 vs 7200 chip
I just got my new Tilt from at&t today for a warranty swap. I checked it out hoping there would be a new ROM release on it. There wasn't. I checked the Device Info and to my surprise it was a different chip. Normally it's the 7200. This one has the 7201. I am wondering if this is common where some Kaisers come with the 7201 or if it's a new release. I searched Google and was unable to find any info. Here are some pictures.
I'm unsure that it's anything but I have noticed that my new tilt runs much faster and smoother. There could be a few different reasons but my old one never seemed to run this fast.
I am using the at&t wm6.1 test rom on both.
Here is mine. Thats odd. I haven't seen that. Maybe someone can clarify.

hmm my tytnII is 7200 as well...maybe tilts have 7201?
my tilt is 7200
I just got my warranty replacement today and it too has the 7201 chip. I couldn't find this thread so I started my own.
Mine seems faster and smoother. Significantly. It's possible it's because of something I did to my old Tilt but I really don't think I did anything but it's possible. I'm benchmarking in coreplayer and I'll try spb benchmark, but it's not likely i'll find anything.....

When I say significantly, I don't mean like it has the drivers. It just feels much faster.

My bad. I didnt realize that was what that thread was about. I haven't even looked in it until you linked it. My apologies.
My coreplayer test were inconclusive. My new tilt came out ahead but by very little after a few runs. Every time it was more but not by much.
So I finally get my Spanking new Nexus 5 this morning I switch it on and its running Keylime Pie?!!?! WHY? whats going on? Phone was sealed in box brand new i'm shocked

Still interesting. Whats the build number on that phone? Sounds like you have one that either missed getting updated before being shipped, or an old one from the back of the store room. Who knows, might have the code for "Always listening" Google now hiding under all the bugs?

its all up there in that one screen shot i put in build number and everything.
I emailed the seller waiting to either return it or just update it myself.
Well, I came into this thread expecting completely different results.
OP, do a system dump and upload it. Maybe there are some goodies on there that we can use. It seems you've got your hands on a test/debug build of Android. Does the phone hardware look like it should? "nexus" printed on the back, area where the IMEI sticker should be, etc.?

yup its legit sticker on the screen IMEI sticker on the back i switch it on and the boot animation was from the first build of ICS only it was cropped in the middle of the screen then to my surprise i'm running Keylime pie. Ive never done a system dump before i'm on this other thread now figuring out how to flash stock kit kat. It's frustrating. You're like "this is not what i paid for" you know?

Maybe don't buy a brand-new device second-hand.
That's always a bad sign. Either the device had issues and they're too lazy to return it or it's fake...possibly they don't like it but there's probably reasoning behind that to merit immediately selling a $400 phone a week max after receiving it.
That's REALLY strange. Kinda cool. I think you got a test device.

Interesting. Under "Model Number" it also says "AOSP on Hammerhead". Also why would it say "KeyLimePie" instead of an actual number like "4.4" under Android Version. Something odd is going on here.

Hold up on that. At least do a system dump first.
If you don't know how use this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380797
If you don't have the android SDK go here and download the platform tools attached in the 8th comment and open command line there then follow that guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33510112
Also you need to enable android debugging.

Going to also say "Do a system dump" simply because A) You seem to be one of the very "lucky" few to have an older device and B) Who knows what kind of things are hiding in that system image.
I mean, its your phone and you paid for it so I don't blame you for wanting to just flash KitKat onto it. However, that system image could benefit the development community somehow. Either way, this is really interesting.
Looks like a test build for sure - if you google sangjoon84.lee you'll find that kernel build referenced in all the FCC info and prior N5 leaks.
Don´t update it for Pete´s sake, that might be a treasure! "Early Development device" ...in 10 years that´s gonna be worth something on ebay!

This isn't the first time a non shipping build came with a nexus phone.
In fact, all of our N5's shipped with key lime pie. It just forced an update at setup.
The reason why this didn't update is its not in an OTA path. Its a test build.

OP if you are willing to dump the system image for us here are some easy steps on doing that.
Download the Android tools here
All you have to do is dump the contents of the zip onto your C: directory. Enable USB debugging on your phone and plug it in via USB. Then open CMD prompt and type:
CD C:\
You should then see
C:\
Now just type:
adb.exe pull /system/
This will dump the image which you can then zip and share later if you wanted. I would advise doing a dump seeing as how this is extremely rare. Again though, its your call.
Is it already unlocked? Would be wild if this was just some Google employee's test device for a couple weeks or simmering!

Hi.
I have very little knowledge about Xiaomi phones but just got a Mi3.
I do unfortunately think it's fake however, and would like some sort of confirmation of that before contacting the seller.
- The USB-cable have the "MI"-logo which I understand is fake?
- The USB-adapter is labeled "inpei" and is a direct Samsung knock-off, it ever has the same model-nr: ETA-U90EWE as the Samsung charger, lol!
- The box says tenaa.com.cn which I saw in some Youtube video should mean that it's a fake.
- CPU-Z reports correct values, but when I do the "Online validation" the numbers are different.
For example: 960x540 resolution, 1GB RAM, 4GB flash, it does however show Snapdragon 800 here too, which seems strange? Why would they put such an expensive SoC in a cheap fake? Or is that value faked on a "deeper level" which still comes back faked through online validation?
What is however strange:
When I input S/N and IMEI on the MIUI-page the phone appears legit.
"This is a 3 Unicom version of millet phone pure white 16GB
Receiving Location:Shenzhen, Guangdong
Order Time:2014-05-03 15:21:34
Receiving the above information with your personal information does not match, please confirm whether the official channels of the purchase."
- It feels high quality and actually quite snappy.
- Xiaomi market and everything else seems to work just fine.
- It gets around 36000 in Antutu
Could someone PLEASE help my confirm once and for all that this is infact a fake, so that I can contact the seller ASAP! Thanks in advance.

I mean fake ones wouldnt be QHD, would be very slow, low benchmark obviously and it should never be able to run jelly bean.. if you go to about phone, you'll see software info, status, battery info, they should have N920 in them (specially baseband). Download an app like hardware info for more information about the device. But from what you described, it looks to be fake.

Fake IMEI number, Fake serial number.
The baseband leads to a website called 'CloneROM' which doesn't seem promising either.

Changing the IMEI and serial number will be dependent on the hardware, a custom ROM will not change those.

You will obviously state what issues you have with the device.
That the device is fake.
It's certainly 100% fake. The site for CloneRom seems to be made for Chinese fake phone makers, What they all have in common is they use a octocore MediaTek (Which Samsung would NEVER use)
https://www.clonerom.com/category/galaxy-note-5
Also if you look at the base band date, it's from 2014. The Note 5 was officially released in Aug or so 2015 which is a dead give away it's fake. Also the IMEI is fake and could actually be blocked by carrier as there could be duplicates with that IMEI so they'll just block the phone so it doesn't take down the network. Each IMEI needs to be UNIQUE.
Go get your money back ASAP and buy a REAL Note 5 or Galaxy S7
Tell the guy you checked out the CPU, It's not meant to be a MediaTek (Only Exynos).
It's Running Kitkat instead of Lollipop.
It's got a bad Serial number and also bad IEMI (which is the worst thing)
stab him :| (after you take your money back)
end of the story

Hi guys!
How can I decode the S/N number to get to know the mfr date of the device?
It came with 10.0 + 2.1(UI) out of the box; is it a refurb. model?

Yes confirmed by local experience store and servics center, S10 is still under production after the info I get I searched after just cause of curiosity If they have ever posted or announced that, and I was suprised:

Changing from a P20 to an S10 now really feels like a pretty awsomse move.

thanks, i'll check out the app. i've also seen 3 major upgrades for 10+.
the problem with the 3rd upgrade is the s10+ has ancient hardware by that time.
Ancient? I dont think so this hw is 1,5 years old, the almost 3 years old Snap 845 is still a solid chipset for example if u are not gaming all day on your phone.
Nowdays chipsets are only evolving via benchmark perfomances the real speed difference through the system quicknes and stability is almost unnoticable for an average user if the system upgrade has been made optimized correctly.
