Hey all. Just wanted to see if any one could answer this. Since all the major carriers sold the same model then each phone should be able to work on every carrier. More specifically I have a Verizon gs8 wanted to know if it would work on sprint or even t mobile. I did pop a sprint sim in here and it wasn't working but I didn't mess with any settings. I'm also running unlocked firmware. Does anyone have this phone running on sprint or t mobile? I did call sprint but they said my imei wasn't present in their database so they couldn't garuntee it would work. Thanks

I have a Verizon Samsung S8, that worked fine with T-mobile with few issues.
- WiFi calling can't be enabled on non Verizon Sims
- Voicemail would by default direct you to Verizon voice mail service
- Kept getting an error every time I restart the phone that the sim is not from Verizon

Made my first call with the missus, and I noticed that the call quality was awful. It's hard to get used to again after using my Pixel 2 XL and enjoying the call quality with HD voice that came with it.
I checked settings, and I can't seem to find anything that would turn on HD voice with AT&T. Also, I bought this device unlocked from Sammy.
Any pointers?
It's due to not running carrier firmware. You can't use WiFi calling (AKA HD voice) without it. Same with VoLTE Anand I believe video calls.

If you must have HD voice, return the unlocked Note and order the AT&T version. You will also get Wi-Fi calling if you buy the AT&T phone.
I've the same situation whit my previous note 8, been past many hours finding a way, and finally found it. You can change the CSC for your carrier, whit the *#243203855#. You must do the two install given when you click install. The phone will be factory restore and then, you'll have AT&T firmware and can use the VOLTE and VoWifi, if AT&T support it on the Note 9, and you have the Volte option provisionned in your account. For me, this has worked very well.
Hmm. I wonder why my Pixel 2 XL had HD Voice and I bought that unlocked.
Will this block tethering?

Do you know if this wil affect the use of tethering? We are currently under at&t's unlimited plan which doesn't include tethering and got the unlocked variant so we could use it for free.

For me, i can use thetering without any issues.
You could also flash the AT&T firmware with modded or patched ODIN to achieve the same result with the dialer code.
i currently have an unlocked usa version note 9 on ATT.
call quality sucks
even reception is not as strong as with a ATT branded phone (galaxy s8, iphone7, iphone 6plus).
is att stock firmware even available for download?

Evening Folks! I've been doing a ton of searching and haven't found a solution yet, or anything specific to an unlocked Note 9 on the Verizon network.
I'm trying to figure out how I go about enabling (in some form or fashion) the Verizon video calling feature. I have two small girls at home, and travel often. I didn't realize when I purchased an unlocked phone, I would miss out on these features!
Anyone point me to a forum, or article that might shed a little light? I'm hoping for a workaround. Unfortunately the workaround for the Note 8 doesn't work for the Note 9.
Any help is extremely appreciated!!!!
Sincerely, Paul.
Pdub,
When you buy an unlocked phone on the Verizon network you loss WiFi calling, visual voicemail and network video calls. There is a forum were you can flash the Verizon version of Android 8.1. it's on XDA forum with instructions. That's how you can get it on an unlocked phone.
Also if you have Asurion for insurance with Brian, cancel it. They will not cover unlocked phone
Visual voicemail works (when you insert the Verizon SIM, the Voicemail app appears in Galaxy Apps).
Video calling was able to be enabled on Nougat phones, but has been blocked by Verizon. I've been using Duo instead which isn't ideal, but works well.
The Unlocked firmware has much less bloat, the Samsung Caller ID and Spam feature works (Verizon makes you pay extra), and I appreciate that there is no Verizon bootscreen, no annoying announcement when you're near a Verizon store, and seems to be less invasive.

Wow, I wish I would have known that. I didn't know Asurion didn't cover unlocked. Is there another insurance out there that does?
Also, if I were to flash the Verizon version of Android, would updates come through still?
I had issue using verizon mvno on US unlocked S8 and S9. Does anybody know if the issue has been resolved for unlocked S10 such as Redpocket verizon sim card? Thanks.
I am using an unlocked S10+ on Straight Talk CDMA (VZW) with no issues.
A colleague is using the GS10+ on Boom Mobile without issue and another colleague is using a Galaxy Note 9 on Spectrum Mobile (running on VZW) without issue.
