Anybody know???
I have no idea what a wine red wrist strap is? Is wine red a color?
Sure have no problem believing Amazon or Samsung does not sell it.
Any place that sells this color? watch strap?
No I usually see black, metallic but no wine red (not that I buy it)

Well that is ugly and specific to Gear Live.
I would check eBay maybe, never been to that web site.
Purchased mine from the Google store.

I've also looked everywhere including Ebay etc.
Really gutted, as one of the reasons for going for smart watch was the possibility of regularly changing faces and watch bands

Exactly! Not enough support.... and why I've got my Gear Live on craigslist this weekend.
I'll wait another year when there will be more choices and better software.
still looking for that red wine strap

I got tired of looking for the wine red strap... it was nowhere!!! Poor support by Samsung as you couldn't even buy it from them... plus the poor vibration which I missed most text messages... so I sold it last Thursday.
I'll wait another year when there will be a LOT more choices out there.
annoying. i wish lg had the white ones for their watch too.
Wine Red Band
The band for the two colors of the Gear Live are the same. Wine red is the color of the watch itself.
I finally got mine today. I got the wine red strap. The device itself is the normal metallic coloration, the band is wine red. I didn't even know I was ordering a different color. Honestly the red isn't for me and I'll be getting a new band asap.
Here i find a place where many kind of colors are available, i got my girlfriend a flower pattern, quite lovely and she likes it.
has anyone had any luck finding a case that can stay on the note 4 while it's docked in the gear vr? Even the smart cover I was using couldn't work due to the raised edge.

Nice question... Plus 1...
NOPE
nope. i have one of the thinnest cases possible (Ringke Slim) and it don't play well with the headset. if i force it, it might break the hinge on the USB.
with the sides trim like the white ver vr , will it fit ?

Basically yes for the Note 4, with zero mods.

I hate removing my case just to fit it into Samsung's Gear VR for the Note 8. And I hear that Google's Daydream should fit even with a case?
Is there that big of a difference between the 2 VR headsets? I don't know much about these.
Daydream is Google's vr, oculus is what Samsung uses. Daydream kind of sandwiches your phone into it where as Samsung locks it in with hardware clips. I haven both, but prefer oculus myself. Both work well.
Daydream works well for me
Has anybody used the Note 8 with a plastic Google Cardboard viewer? The Viewmaster VR was my go to viewer for all my phones but the Note 8 barely fits without a case, I'm afraid I'll scratch it up if I keep using it like that. All the other VR viewers have a maximum 6" phone size limit

I just bought my first cheap VR headset (first foray into VR) that said it was for up 6" phones and the note 8 fits perfectly

So some of those 6" max ones fit? What was the name/brand of your VR set?

I put it down to the Note 8's slim bezel and it only being a matter of 0.3"

Thanks! Yeah, when they say 6", they probably mean Apple or phones with gigantic bezels.
is my note 8 gear vr compatible with cardboard?

What do you mean? GearVR and Cardboard are two different VR platforms/headsets.
Note 8 obviously works with the GearVR. And it also works with Google Cardboard, since someone just a few posts up started they were using it with a Carboard headset.
