[Q] Viper4android on Note5 with Marshmallow? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
one question only☺
Is there any way to get Viper4android on Marshmallow Note5?
I tried a lot with no success!
Thanks

I haven't tried yet but will do over the next few days. I think it needs a permissive kernel - have you tried with the v2 skyhigh kernel installed?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I will try with skyhigh v2
I was on v1.1 when i tried.
thanks
Update:
I flashed Viper4android file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/themes-apps/viper4android-note-5-t3192400 Thanks to him/them
It worked
Kernel: Skyhigh 2.1

Thanks - I'll try this evening. I think v2 was the first sky-high to introduce permissive
Edit: Fabulous - listening to decent quality music again - so pleased it's working. Hopefully no memory problems as on Lollipop.

Can you please list the steps you took to get this to work? Are you using Compatibile mode or Normal? Thank you.

Normal. It's pretty simple if you're rooted. Sorry can't give you detailed steps now (although it should be clear from that thread) as I'm now on dr.ketans MM5 rom which has it built in and works perfectly. Try that!

[Q] Anybody using PDroid on their Note successfully?

I just tried a patch I generated for this rom:
[ROM] 2.3.6 Deodexed STOCK XXKL3/Modem DDKL1 - MultiCSC - Rooted (CF-Root-KL3, CWM5)
It didn't work. Has anybody successfully gotten PDroid to work on their Note? It doesn't matter which rom, any rom! If you're unfamiliar with PDroid, click below:

Looks like a good app to have.
Will try it once l get home

Excellent. Any input from fellow note users is welcome.
Hi,
I've been able to patch the roms lph4 n3v3r d135 KL8 v1.0.3.zip & v1.0.4.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1424401 but I have not installed PDroid app itself yet. So I can't really say it has been successful but the patching part completed without issue.
And I've flashed the v1.03 to my galaxy note, also seemingly without issue.
Best,
Chilax
This looks like a nice app.
I use LBE privacy guard.
Would love to have this.
Yup, have this working with RocketROM v21.

coming from a fresh install of criskelorom v6, you have to apply a patch first.
though weirdly enough, i wasn't able to grab the patch for the criskelorom, so i tried this by accident.
PDroid-v1.27-XXLA4_CheckromRevo_NoteHD_V5.zip
Pdroid works after that.

Pretty much all the roms are themed stock roms ( except for CM rom)
So they should work with each other
I got PDroid working on darky 3.1 & 3.2. The latest version of the PDroid patcher solves the TW FC issue.

UPDATE: Thanks to 2 people @nfsmw_gr and @ktoonsez for helping me. Truth be told nfsmw_gr told me Ktoonsez kernal would work but I was a bit apprehensive to try because the GE phone is slightly different (We all love his Kernals) so after faith and testing the 4.2.2 KT747 MFD kernal works on touchwiz so everything works now. Wifi, browser everything im typing this on the Barebones ROM. So I will be headed back to the kitchen soon and hopefully this will get some builds going with others. Have fun TOUCHWIZ WORKS

FIXED SEE ABOVE :I've flashed several TW ports and I keep running into the WiFi issue these are I9505 MGA builds I've tried different things but I am confident this has to do with the stock kernal which houses the WiFi modules and since I'm not knowledgeable on building a kernal I'm going to have to learn and I am reaching out for help in the community. That being said we have working touchwiz but the WiFi does not work and some other little bugs but for the most part I need help again with kernal and wifi
I do know about you but WiFi is a deal breaker for me
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk 2
WiFi is definitely a deal breaker. I'm unfortunately not far enough along in my Android education to help you resolve the issue. I am wondering if you've posted this outside of this thread? There are some very talented ROM packagers out there and I've found a few of them to be quite responsive. I became a big fan of Scott's CleanRoms and messaged with him through his forum. He's on a semi-build vacation but my guess is that he'd be responsive to a fellow ROM builder.
I'll be watching closely and ever eager to try the ROM.
Yes I'm getting help from some other talent like @iB4STiD on getting possibly a Kernal that is what is breaking the WiFi and we do have Kernal source for 4.3 out already.
Hopefully we can get something soon that's the key
FYI I am trying to get some help or advice from @ktoonsez as well

Try using /system/lib/modules from original i9505 TW rom, or give a go at my .zip which is stock MGA kernel + stock modules.
The only thing that fixed WiFi for me when I had this issue with Omega ROM, I flashed NOS HL WiFi fix (or something like that) several times that was on first post with odin but that didn't make my wifi work again.
I read an old thread on xda about HTC Sensation where a Senior Member was mentioning that if the files in /system/modules folder was from another kernel the WiFi wouldn't work.
So I used stock MGA boot.img and extracted the modules folder from stock ROM, placed them all in one flashable .zip and voila!
I flashed and WiFi was working once again!
Anyway, enough talking.
Try manually yourself or try my .zip!
I hope it helps man!
EDIT:
Backup your /system/modules folder just in case.
If you run in any trouble, restore your modules folder and reflash an your previous kernel.
If you still have any issues (highly unlikely, but still) flash back to Stock ROM and you'll be good as new.

Right now I've been talking with Ktoonsez he is kinda busy but I'm trying to see if he can help us.
If he doesn't have time maybe I can get permission too do so ( have to learn how I'm not a kernal guy )
We will have TW fully working. Who knows maybe someone is ahead of me and will beat me to it

Great news! This combined with the upcoming MoDaCo Switch will make our phones so much more awesome than they already are.
Ohh that is nice to see for us i9505g folks he is using a i9505 base. Assuming there is a way to apply Ktoonsez Kernal and not disrupt anything inherent to MoDaCo.

Here is what I did and it is working well for me. Download the ROM, Aroma and the Kernal. Boot into recovery, full wipe and then wipe system. Flash the ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349369), Aroma (and select what parts you want) and then Kernal. It takes quite a while for permissions, so be patient with the flashing. After that, you reboot and are good to go.
Hi, it works very good hehehe...
First you have to flash a Recovery (If you dont have one), then make a full wipe of Data and System 5 times, install Barebone Rom, intall Aroma apps, flash Ktoonz Kernel for TW 4.2.2, if Recovery ask you to fix permissons select NO.
Everything works fine, but after the first time that i restart the phone it stucks on the Google logo. sometimes shows the samsung logo.
Thats my results, i'll test more roms.

Hi
Of course Kowalski Manager can't be opened, since you don't run the Kowalski Kernel on your phone (as the program "printed"). This kernel is not the Kowalski Kernel. You'd have to install KK to make Kowalski Manager to work.

This doesn't happen on stock Lollipop roms. I noticed a few people using that rom having the same problem, so it's likely something the rom creator altered that's causing it. This is the reason that Tom doesn't accept bug reports when you're using modified roms or Xposed.

Yes, it's because your bootloader is locked. Custom kernels require an unlocked bootloader.

You can use Kernel Adiutor. There will be a small delay after boot until DT2W works though, and there won't be a vibration when you unlock.
If you're using SuperSU and want DT2W enabled straight away with vibration, you can use the script I posted in the main thread here.

Does anyone use Spotify on a regular basis? The last couple of times I had it on in the car, ten minutes or so into play the music starts kind of skipping and playing funny, the phones heats up quite a bit and it even freezes for a few good seconds when unlocking. I had similar problems back in some stock 4.x.x firmware, I recall it was a general bug that was fixed in the follow up firmware release.
I don't use spotify much so I can´t tell exactly when this started to happen so I just want to rule out the kernel, It worked well in stock 5.0 but there has been a few spotify updates since. Is it working ok for you guys?

It seems is not kernel related but it is lollipop related: https://community.spotify.com/t5/He...-Distorted-playback-sound-levels/td-p/1028205

However ,Even at stock voltage (900mv on 384mhz) i face reboots while stability test . And sometimes it just restarts at lockscreen
So my question is . Why does it still unstable even on my stock voltage ?

Try Factory Reset, or reflash FTF... If still unstable, you have probably damaged hardware. Under voltage is just as dangerous as over voltage...

Gear VR extremly laggy

Hi,
I've juts received the gear vr at work and I try to use it on my S6 edge plus rooted and deodexed and this is extremly laggy. but not on my friend's full stock s6 edge plus.
does anybody know what can create those lags ?
Envoyé depuis mon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + via Tapatalk....
Same here!
I have been troubleshooting this for two days non stop. I was on Superstock v2.5 to start and it was choppy.
I ODIN to stock OJ5 and it seems to work. I did only the basic phone setup and installed the Gear VR.
After that I installed CWM recovery and arter97 kernel/root. Still seemed happy. I installed a few apps including nova launcher and titanium backup. At some point the fun ended and it got super choppy.
I then decided to try Superstock v2.6 ROM since it seemed I got choppy even on stock. Installed the ROM. Did basic phone setup, got the Gear VR setup and it worked perfectly. I was quite happy. I noticed Google had restored a couple apps but I stopped the rest for the sake of time.
I am fuzzy on exactly what order things happened in but it got choppy again so I started removing apps such as titanium backup and nova launcher. It seemed to be fixed after removal of Nova launcher ...I was happy. I decided to reboot for good measure and that's when I realized somehow FRP got activated to I couldn't even boot my phone! I was pissed.
Anyways, ODIN back to stock. Erase everything including SD card. Rooted, installed Superstock v2.6 with arter97 9.4. Did basic setup. Installed Gear VR stuff and choppy again. Nothing else installed this time. No titanium backup nor nova launcher. I am at a loss.
Also of note. I disabled the Gear VR service and tested Google cardboard vr stuff along with cineveo and those all work perfectly.
I had the same problem when using custom roms. I almost took the gear vr back to att where I bought it from because I thought it was defective. (Still in disbelief I found one actually). So I ended up Odin'ing back to stock and everything is good. I think the lag is either coming from kernel, rom being deodexed, or some integral piece from gear vr not being present in rom

definitely due to the kernel. I am using N9208, upgraded to OK2 ROM via odin. I keep everything unchanged except for the kernel: with the modified OH3 kernel(rooted), it's laggy. with alter97 7.0 beta, also laggy. the only working rooted kernel I can find is the N9208-OJ3-Root-Stock-Kernel. but this kernel seems dont have the deep sleep...
p.s. I fixed the deep sleep issue with the solution found by @garyd9 in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63226718&postcount=18
as no init.rc in my system, I just put a script in /etc/init.d folder to do the cache settings.
On the note 4 when I was rooted using the Gear VR I had the same issue with lag, what fixed it was changing the governor to on demand and scheduler to sio or noop.

Kernel indeed. I now feel extrmeely stupid for not assuming that first and trying a different kernel. I did try several versions of arter97 though.
Anyways, Problem solved by running this:

Hmm. I ran this kernel and still had lag. Then again, I could have been running an earlier version of this kernel. Keep me posted bro

It's all about kernel. I'm using a Note 5, and I had to ditch Arter's kernel for stock kernel to kill the lag/choppiness when using my Gear VR.
This kernel is confirmed working with SuperStock 2.6 ROM and COJ5 firmware on the T-Mo Galaxy S6 Edge+:

G928F - not working, lags as on all other kernels ( except the stock kernel and rooted stock kernel version, discussed in the topic before http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ernel-stock-modified-kernel-touchwiz-t3229557 )

not true.
Working perfectly on latest SkyKernel for Edge+
I've even enabled some extra power saving features using Synapse and it still works great.

What device version you have? What firmware version? What kernel version you had used?

Lags in Gear VR with this config:
SM-G928F Galaxy S6 Edge+
Stock 5.1.1 - build G928FXXU2AOJ5

Just wanted to take a moment to say that I'm using the Darthstalker Rom V5 on my TMO Note 5 and initially the VR was so choppy/laggy that it was unusable. So, I proceeded to consult my Misfit Band of Cellular Degenerates aka XDA and discovered that the issue was my kernel. I switched from Arters to the Skyhigh kernel and just like that, problem solved! I have been a lurker here for the better part of 10 years modding my phones since the Touch Pro 2 days I suppose and though I don't comment and thank you guys nearly enough your time and effort is truly appreciated.
