Hello.
Some apps need the permissions to be changed in Settings -> Apps -> (choose app) -> Permissions in order to be able to access some system features, like write to storage. But some have reported that Titanium Backup needs to be moved into a system app in order to work correctly. This can be easily done if you enable root in dev options of CM13 and use an app like Link2SD that moves apps to system partition (I tried Link2SD free with root enabled and I was able to move YouTube app to system).
Good luck.

Very simple question since i always see people asking this.
Can you use your GB 2.3.6 backup of titanium Backup when you are in ICS or do you have to reinstall all your apps manually and manually download them all again from the marketplace ?

You can restore your apps once on ICS using Titanium, but never system stuff. However, you might run into problems if you do that, depending on your ICS Rom. It's better to do a clean app install instead. Here's what you could do to make the process quick and painless:
1. download and install any explorer with root permissions if you don't have it already
2. create a folder called 'Apps' (or 'My Apps' or whatever) on your SD card
3. go back to /data/app folder (this is where all user apps are located)
4. multi select everything you plan to use on ICS, then 'copy'
5. browse to the /Apps folder on your SD card, then 'paste' - now you have backed up everything you need
6. flash ICS Rom of your choice
7. download and install Android Assistant from Playstore, run it
8. AA has 'Batch Install' option, tap it; AA will automagically find all your backup apps and install them in one go
9. you're done

Damn nice app.. thanks for the tip friend :good:
After you do the above, you can then restore data only (not apps) from TB.
That way all your app content, saved games etc. should be as they were on GB.
I am so glad i made this thread because now when i get asked this question over and over again i can just reference them to this thread

You can do it with titanium too.
After flashing ICS, just install titanium and select batch option - Restore missing application.
Now check the list manually, if any application that was part of system application on GB, just un tick that.
Now this will restore only user appl safely.
PS : I have marked that If you restore Opera browser with app+data option, it getting crash. in that case just wipe data for opera, and will work fine.
Does this procedure works the other way.
Your back up was created while you are on ics, and the restoring while you are on gb
thanks in advance

Titanium Backup is the most powerful backup tool on Android
I have read the app description and i know some valuable things : you may follow the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en
"You can backup, restore, freeze (with Pro) your apps + data + Market links. This includes all protected apps & system apps, plus external data on your SD card. You can do 0-click batch & scheduled backups. Backups will operate without closing any apps (with Pro). You can move any app (or app data) to/from the SD card. You can browse any app's data and even query the Market to see detailed information about the app."

To move some apps like android terminal emulator you must add lib(from this app) to /system/lib or something else. About titanium backup/pro i preffer to stayin' it in /data

OK i mean the some app like Root Explorer don't need to move lib(s) (from this app) to /system/lib to working fine without ForceClose(FC) but some apps like Android Terminal Emulator need to move lib(s) (from this app, just open it like package file as rar or zip with 7zip or winrar on PC and copy lib(s) from folder(s)) to /system/lib. But i don't know how Titanum Backup work when you copy this app to /system/app and change permisions(rw-r--r-- / 644) and restart phone. Maybe it'll work good without FC or will FC . I hope you understand what i tell you

^^ THIS
make sure you have root, download and install Link2SD then grand access to root permission (if not using to to make more space or its orginal intended use) then skip when it asks for partition info by pressing back.
select app you want to move then select convert to system app for normal apps or intergrade update into system for updates to system apps like playstore etc.
REBOOT phone after doing it all to get rid of forsed closes. Some apps dont like being used like this. You can also try Apps2Rom in playstore I have used but prefer L2SD as I use it for more memory my linking apps to the SD
Hello.
I want to move some files to app system folder.I have root and im using root explorer.
I did this other times i moved shazam smart tools, tapatalk. Now i want to move office and titaniumbackup pro.

Of course not. Android apps are self contained. And why do you need to move stuffs to /system? The cappy have a 1gb data partition, and most data are stored on the SD card, not on the NAND flash like with iPhones(this is not entirely accurate, but close enough)
On OxygenOS Stock ROM (4.1.6) there are some apps came pre-installed that I don't use. For example Google Gmail, Hangout also OnePlus's own calculator/clock etc. I want to delete those apps and replace Gmail with Inbox. completely remove Hangout, OPCalculator and OPClock with Google's Calculator and Clock. I have deleted those apps before by manually deleting them from inside /System/App and /System/Priv-app
Now, I'm trying to write my 'own' TWRP flash-able updater script to do such action. But I am kind of confused if only deleting an APK's parent folder is enough to remove the apps completely? For example, if I only delete the folder System/App/(Deskclock) - is that enough or there will be related files remaining somewhere else?
* I know Titanium Backup or other debloat apps can perform similar task, but the main purpose of this question is to know how can this be done manually and properly without leaving un-necessary files in the system.
Thanks.
Deleting the folder of an app in /system/app will remove the app from your phone (as in, not showing up in launchers or the Installed Apps list). However, app data and updates may still be saved in the /data partition. To make sure all of it is removed, first clear data and uninstall all updates to the system apps you with to remove from the Installed Apps list (disable it), then delete the APK either through a root explorer, or a recovery script.

1. I wonder if this is even possible inside TWRP, I mean targeting those unwanted apps, uninstalling updates+ clearing app data/disable them.. Or you are suggesting me to remove them manually from the OOS interface/settings one by one?
2. Also while in TWRP, none of those app (that I will remove) are not functional so what's the points of clearing app data/uninstalling updates? why not simply delete /system/app/(app.apk) and /data/app/(related files.)
Thanks again.

1) If you know where the extra data/updates are stored in /data, then you could use a recovery script to delete them. It's kind of one-shot deal though, as unless you open the apps again (after re-flashing a ROM), they won't have any data saved to them the next time you want to delete them.
2) If they aren't functional, they likely won't have much app data to begin with. I would clear the app data from apps like Google Play Music or Movies (if you don't want to use them) before deleting them. Random Engineering Test Tools and unessential services won't have much data stored and can be deleted directly.
i think its just fine bt read other comments too for better understanding.

No, you need root. No other app has more permissions than you as normal user.
But if helium can do it by debugging mode its posible no root
Must be other apps capable then no?

Debugging mode is not the same as root permissions on your device. With debugging mode you are logged in (shell) as user_shell and with root you are user_root. The user_shell doesn't have the permissions to read the app specific directories in /data/data/PACKAGES to do a backup of all your apps. Only user_root, user_system and apps themselves (only for own directory, but others not) can access these directories r/w and read all the data within.
Exception: An ADB backup is able to backup app data of those apps, that are included in the Google Backup ('device settings > System > Backup' or open settings > searchbar > 'backup').
