Hey i just rooted my Optimus 2x and removed two system apps with Titanium Backup Pro..
before that i made a backup of the apps with Titanium backup, but there is just one problem, it only made a backup of DATA not the APP....
so now i have removed the CAR HOME APP and F-Secure APP and don't have backup...
my question is....
Do I have a problem, if i need to make a hard reset with VOL + HOME, POWER. when im missing those system APPs ??
No problem
@dk_iceman
What did you do to remove f-secure? Could you please provide a very short summary of what you did? I'm curious if it's really enough to remove the apk? And what do you mean by data? After a restart of the phone, did the app really disappear?
thanks!

you can just use ADB to push the apk's back on your system if you want.
Odd. For some reason i cant mount system as rw with adb "remount failed: Operation not permitted"
But you can just put the apk's on your sd card in stead and then copy them to system/app using root explorer
Duplication

Open the SuperUser app and "forget" the entry "unknown" then:
Code:
adb shell
$ su
#
And you'll get prompted on the phone screen to allow root access.

So if you take a backup with titanium backup, it will not backup the app. And if you delete apps, with titanium backup are they removed completely from the ROM/ROOT, and a factory reset will not bring them back?
Man just deleted F-secure, SNS, App advisor and the live wallpapers, with titanium backup, and these will not come back if I make hard reset, does anyone have the SNS 1.0 and the Christmas/Firework live wallpapers?

Download my rom dump, extract files and just copy files back with root explorer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987989
You should user soft "SystemApp Remover" to remove app you want. This is very cool app . There are many bloatware you can remove.
Another way to disable apps is to use Titanium backups "freeze" or the "disable" with adb. Both prevents the app from running BUT leaves it intact and give you a possibility to restore all apps with a hard reset.
Here is a guide from Paul at Modaco:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8633061&postcount=1
Basically its use adb to run a PM command:
pm disable com.Apps.apps (change the file name to the apk you want to disable.
Note: titanium "freeze" do same thing
I've made backups with Titanium Backup and synced them with my dropbox account. But when i look at what he saved i can see the apk files. So i'm not really sure but it looks to me like he also saved the app itself and not only the data.
update:, hmmmm i just looked at the content of my backup dir in dropbox and it seems like he didnt send the system apps. So if you want to restore them you have to use the system dump. Or back them up yourself.

Hello everyone!
I'm trying to tweak this Stock rom because i don't wanna install mostly broken custom roms where i can't use apps i want (installed from market).
I was just wondering that which system apps can be uninstall from LG Optimus 2X for not being worried about any errors or so?
I have uninstalled now sns, wallpapers, most of widgets i don't need but can i remove remotecall app? Do i need it for makeing calls, sending sms or connecting to mobile network, wifi or Bluetooth?
Or is google quick search necessary for some apps?
and what about Smartshare, talk, voicesearch or voicerecorder?
Please answer to this if you have time and knowledge of these apps!
Thank you in advance!
Just out of curiosity, why dont you guys just install a clean Vanila ROM?
Wouldn't that be easier as it will not contain any of LG's software/modifications etc?
Not trying to be a smart alec here, just wondering that's all.
I got my 2X today and I want to install a clean Vanila ROM and have posted a thread asking for help as to how to go about doing it.
I'm currently using Launcher Pro which works a treat and the ROM itself seems very fast but I just hate the tweaks to the Messaging apps and also all the bloatware.
Or do you guys just find LG's software useful?
Cheers

Hello.
Some apps need the permissions to be changed in Settings -> Apps -> (choose app) -> Permissions in order to be able to access some system features, like write to storage. But some have reported that Titanium Backup needs to be moved into a system app in order to work correctly. This can be easily done if you enable root in dev options of CM13 and use an app like Link2SD that moves apps to system partition (I tried Link2SD free with root enabled and I was able to move YouTube app to system).
Good luck.

Hello. I searched but didn't find a solution. Titanium backup has been able to restore applications with magisk installed but not the data. Any way to get around this and have the data restored too?
Thx!
Did you ever get a fix for this? I have the same issue on 14.2 on the Pixel XL.

No. I'm surprised nobody answered...
With titaniumbuckup i have issu, when i delate system apps and reboot phone apps still no remowe.
Which apps are you taking about?
Titanium doesn't backup nor restore Device-Encrypted data from /data/user_de. If the apps you're trying to backup store their data there, Titanium won't help.
By the way, is anyone aware of a root backup app that takes care of Device-Encrypted data? I haven't found any yet.

TiBu backup and restore of system apps has been broken for years. At least for me.
Delete the files with a root file manager.
Titanium backup won't help if you do an operation in /system partion (e.g restoring system apps, freezing system apps, etc.) That's is Magisk work (to be systemless). You can do operations in Titanium backup in /data partition.
This is why the app won't delete after reboot.

Well I just tried USAA and a basic setting change (device nickname) was preserved after a restore.
Now, some apps encrypt their data with the device ID or some other ID that may change across a data reset or across devices. Or they store some credentials in the Android Key Store which Titanium cannot access.
It would make sense for financial apps to use the system key store to store your credentials or a key to encrypt ask the data they store on you.
BTW, USAA contains a buttload of trackers and other "analytics" frameworks.

It's good practice to make a backup before modifying your device.
I've installed Magisk (latest version) on a brand new phone (Samsung Galaxy J4). It is just out of the box. All apps that need root are granted access. Also Titanium Backup! BUT when I start TB I get the error: Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges...
I'm lost here what to do to get TB running. Any help please?

Worked like a charm!! Many Thanks :victory:
Here is the improved version:
1. Select "Menu" on top right corner of Titanium Backup
2. In "General" catagory, select "Preferences"
3. In next menu, select "Troubleshooting settings"
4. Now select "Force System Busybox"
When you exit the menu, the titanium backup will start itself.

Hi,
I have the same problem with Titanium. When I start it, than I see for a short moment a little message that TB got root.
I think this message is from Magisk. But then follows a message screen from TB that it didn't get root.
In Magisk root is enabled for TB!
Rootchecker says that I have root. Other apps have root too. Only TB does not recognize the rooting.
Which informations do you need for help? Phone is Samsung J6+ with Android 8.1.0 ans Magisk 18.1
No Root with Titanium und Link2SD
Hi,
I have the same problem with Titanium and Link2SD. Both programms get root-rights from Magisk. Both are in the list of enabled apps. But these programms don't accept the root. First I thougt that this is a problem of Titanium. But now I think the problemmaker is Magisk. Magist gives "root", but not full correct. like SU does. Some programms accept it, some not.
Or just use Migrate, for app backups its far less buggy than horrible Titanium Backup
Got rid of that POS years ago after the dozenth time it failed to restore stuff, moved to MyBackup Pro and never looked back
But lately been using Migrate for a member here on XDA, solid work, cant rate it highly enough, and its Free: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-migrate-custom-rom-migration-tool-t3862763
Its what i advise people to use.....

No help? Ok - I gave up. Titanium Backup, Link2Sd and Magisk are not working properly together. I completely reset my phone and updated it to Android 9 (PIE). My first attempt with Magisk "bricked" my J6 after a few weeks. during a update of Magisk. And the new attempt with my new J6 + does not work properly. I'll wait a few months and hope that eventually there will be a working root solution for Galaxy J6+ with Android 9.
Hello friends, I have found the solution for me. Galaxy Tab-A with android 9 and MTK-6753 with android 10 + Magisk-v21.4 + Magisk_Manager_8.0.7 + Titanium Backup-Pro-v8.3.3.
The problem is neither Magisk nor Titanium, but Busybox: there are several versions of Busybox. Titanium cannot acquire root rights with busybox-for-android, neither free busybox nor busybox-installer-arm.bin or other versions. But it works fine with com.jrummy.busybox.installer.apk or stericson.busybox.apk (you may need to test both). So: open your busybox, uninstall it, reinstall another version, and test with Titanium Backup.
Good luck.
Hello All,
The root landscape has changed over the years and getting back into rooting, I am curious. What root apps are you all using? Of course there are the main ones: Magisk, Kernel Manager, Ect... Would love to see what else is out there.
Thanks
I guess I'll just list what my Magisk Superuser section says I've granted SU access to...
AdAway, AFWall+, AutoInput, Battery Charge Limit, BBS (Better Battery Stats), Button Mapper, Cool Tool,
EdXposed Manager(Burnt Toast Revived, CameraNotify, DisableFlagSecure, FingerFace, GravityBox [Q], MaxLock, XPrivacyLua),
EX Kernel Manager, File Timestamp, Kinetic Scroll, Logcat Extreme, MiXplorer, Network Log, Preferences Manager, substratum, Tasker, Termux, Titanium Backup, ViPER4Android FX
That's it for me at the moment...
My root apps are:
1. AdAway (blocking of ads and trackers on dns "layer")
2. AfWall+ (restrict internet access)
3. Titanium Backup (as data backups)
4. Terminal Emulator (for deactivate the captive Portal Check).
5. Warden (deactivates tracker directly in apps)
I use terminal emulator to allow unlimited hotspot on my Cricket plan and Adway. I keep things simple now.

I'll second that. I've had very good experiences with TiBu for over a decade. Lol
In both this and the Taimen (assuming it's more about Android version instead of hardware) the only snag I hit is a few apps hang if you try to restore data and a couple others are just a no go. Sometimes it just takes installing the app first the restoring the data to get around it.
Waze is one that comes to mind. If I think of others I'll edit this.
Anyway, I probably restore upwards of 100 apps whenever I do a fresh install and don't really find too much aggravation...
