Official ROM (5.0.2) update, release notes / fixes? - LG Optimus L90

Today my D405n updated from D405n20a to D405n20c (notice the change from ~a to ~c). The Android version remained 5.0.2, so I guess it's a rather minor update. Software version is now V20c-EUR-XX, not sure what is was before.
The first attempt (via FOTA update) failed, because it claimed (incorrectly) that my device was rooted. The LGMobileSupportTool had no such problems, all it needed was for me to free up a sizeable chunk of RAM (almost 1 GB...). Other than that, it updated flawlessly, without any issues or warnings. So far I have not noticed any differences in appearance or functionality.
What surprised me, however, was the fact that this update is mentioned absolutely nowhere: not on the LG support page, not even on this forum. I don't know when this update was released. Anybody any idea what this update actually accomplishes?

i just installed the update but i dont see any difference

Guys check if it fixed the Stagefright bug. You can see it using an app on the play store. My update is currently downloading so I'll respond when it finishes and I check.
---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:15 PM ----------
Yeah that was it guys! My updated finished and I downloaded the stagefright detector app from the Play Store. It says that my phone is not vulnerable. When I used this app before the patch it said that i was affected so now it's fixed. I don't know if anything else is fixed, if I find something I'll post.

Stagefright and some minor improvements. No interface changes. But it is necessary update.

[ROM][ICS]Ideapad K1 Official Release

Hi everyone,
As most of you know Lenovo released the official ICS build for the Ideapad K1 today. The new bootloader will not allow me to boot into recovery partition, so no custom recovery for now. Unfortunately the build released by Lenovo also lacked Google Apps. I have added in the latest Google Apps package including Face Unlock. I have posted two versions of the Rom both rooted and not rooted. The non rooted is 100% stock with Google Apps. The rooted has the latest Superuser.apk and su binary and the latest busybox, and the boot.img has been modified to allow adb remount.
This will wipe your entire device. You will lose all apps and data. I am in no way responsible for your device, as always flash at your own risk.
Instructions

awsome great job!!!!:good:
Awesome work!! CM9/10 in the near future after kernel source? I volunteer to test if you need testers.
i was about to install this an i realized i left my data cable at work. i guess i get to sleep tonight after all
I know this is probably a dumb question but do I need the apx drivers installed? I'm having problems getting them installed with the official lenovo package ones... Maybe someone could link me to a different place to find them...
(R)EVOLTE
thank you so much khanning88 for this and all your hard work! lenovo should hire you and make you their senior dev.. awesome job! thanks again! =)
Great job man. Just installed. Looks fantastic!

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to khanning88 for getting things done at this high speed.
However,I have issues on the Play Store. As a number of apps including Google Maps and Chrome cannot be downloaded directly via Play Store, which it said "Your device isn't compatible with this edition". So I have to grab them unofficially. Can we pretend the device to be a Xoom for maximum app compatibility, just like what you did in the rooted HC rom? Or is there any other solution?
Thanks in advance.
I respect your work.great share!
Thanks man ... downloaded both versions. Will flash mine with rooted version and my friend's device using unrooted version.
Recovery?
Awesome work - flashed root version - worked flawlessly.
Now, how can we reinstall CWM recovery - it seems to have disappeared? Installing the special recovery apk and opening does not reboot into recovery. Does anyone know if flashing ICS removed the recovery partition?
camera not working plus some apps dont install.
Flashed rooted version which worked OK. Camera app starts but the screen is black. Camera worked OK on HC 3.2.1. Tablet feels less responsive also.
Lots of my standard apps don't install, play store says they are not compatible. These are apps not games. Like flipboard and my banking app.
At this point I think I'll go back to HC until these items are fixed. And I guess this won't happen until Lenovo release the source and khanning can fix up all the Lenovo mistakes.
Disappointed with what Lenovo produced, given the time they spent working on it. Its a 3 out of 10 from me.

Camera works fine for me both pics and vids. Tablet seems much more responsive to me. I agree Lenovo did a poor job. Khanning came in in two hours and tripled their output. I have been working on modifing the build prop to get more apps to work.
Excellent work khanning. As far as overclocking goes, would something like that have to wait until the source is released? Or could a custom kernel supporting this be released without it? Just curious, I like to make things go faster...
Only downside is this came out the day before my work week (Fri-Sun) really kicks in gear, maybe by the time I get around to tinkering with this more questions will be answered.
Either way, khanning you really should be on salary by Lenovo for all the business youre saving that company. Thank you again!
These are the build Prop setting I used to get better EA and gameloft compatibility. I am not an expert on build Props and take no responsibility for your actions. Back up your build before making changes. Gmaps and chrome still do not show up in the market with theses settings.

[Q] New official JB release?

Has anybody taken a look at the new official JB release that popped up at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_maserati/list.php ? (Although, I can't access it currently)
It's been mentioned on another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277830 ) regarding the ability to root, but it doesn't look like it's been looked at in any depth whether it includes any fixes, etc. The build date has changed to the 5th April, and the version is 9.8.20-72_VZW-18-2.
Cheers,
Steve.
This should probably be in q&a section... but yeah I wonder what is in it too... either way, I'm pretty happy sitting on eclipse 1.0.6 right now

You could be right regarding the location, apologies if people object - I just thought the ROM guys would probably be the ones most likely to be all over it.
File Mirror
FWIW - I found that droid-developers.org seemed a little hit and miss, so I've set up a private file mirror for this new release. If somebody wants access to it, then just PM me. I'm trying to sort out a public mirror too, and will update this post when/if I get that sorted out.
Cheers,
Steve,
I am uploading cdma_maserati/cdma_maserati_9.8.2O-72_VZW-18-2_1ff.xml.zip
to my http://d-h.st/users/sd_shadow/?fld_id=12041#files
via remote url upload, usually doesn't take very long, quite a bit faster than uploading from my pc
This same version upgrade for XT926 HD appeared and was said to be a bugfix for the 4.1.2 OTA and that another more significant update would appear shortly for all devices but still remain 4.1.2 and would include Isis.
So we should expect to see a couple of OTAs pushed out on accelerated schedule that will match this XML file and the subsequent update.

Nice one - I'm currently 66% of the way through uploading to FileDropper (which I've never used before, but it was free, and didn't require sign up).

So is the "more significant update" meant to be coming after this April 5th release?

Yes, and I just flashed the boot, system and radio images from the MR2 XML and then rerooted using razr_blade.
So, we are safe to use this file to upgrade the firmware without any loss of root or any other issues.
The secure version did not increment so it is also possible to revert to the prior -18 release without risk of soft bricking.
This follows the pattern of the update for the HD and will likely be the same for the other devices that just recieved 4.1.2 in this cycle.
The next update is the one the will include ISIS and may also have security enhancements that will need to be carefully scrutinized.
That is conjecture on my part, at this stage, we don't know.
It would be nice to know what changes the release addresses. My hope is that it sorts out the hardware keyboard problem of unsticky shift keys in some applications.
Cheers,
Steve

[CFW][KK4.4] GomdoLight KitKat Custom Firmware Environment (System Enhancement Pack)

Hi all,
Today, I proudly present GomdoLight KitKat for KOREAN LG G / G2 / G3 / G3A / G3cat6 / Gflex / GK / Gpro / Gpro2 / LTE3 / Vu2 / Vu3 / Gpad7LTE, one of the most widely used (with 20,000+ users approximately) stock-based custom firmware in South Korea.
GomdoLight is more than 3 year old already (first version released on 19th December 2012), and is very mature.
Technically speaking GomdoLight is NOT a complete ROM, but rather a large-scale patch, which modifies official stock firmware to remove all the unnecessary components preloaded by operator/manufacturer, and reorganizes key system parts to 'basic' Android OS with manufacturer's flavor. For some devices GomdoLight's own specialized tool 'GomdoLight Sideloader' can make it possible to install GomdoLight directly over the stock firmware, even without rooting or flashing custom recovery!
GomdoLight is compatible with the following devices (BOLD indicates GomdoLight Sideloader support - no root required)
LG Optimus G: LG-F180S, LG-F180K, LG-F180L ("G")
LG G2: LG-F320S, LG-F320K, LG-F320L ("G2")
LG G3: LG-F400S, LG-F400K, LG-F400L ("G3")
LG G3A: LG-F410S ("G3A")
LG G3 Cat.6: LG-F460S, LG-F460K, LG-F460L ("G3")
LG G Flex: LG-F340S, LG-F340K, LG-F340L ("Gflex")
LG GK: LG-F220K ("GK")
LG G Pro: LG-F240S, LG-F240K, LG-F240L ("Gpro")
LG G Pro 2: LG-F350S, LG-F350K, LG-F350L ("Gpro2")
LG Gx: LG-F310L, LG-F310LR ("Gx")
LG Optimus LTE3: LG-F260S ("LTE3")
LG Optimus Vu2: LG-F200S, LG-F200K, LG-F200L ("Vu2")
LG Vu 3: LG-F300S, LG-F300K, LG-F300L ("Vu3")
LG G Pad 7.0 LTE: LG-V410 ("Gpad7LTE")
A very thorough and extensive (probably, the most extensive on entire xda) manual is provided at the download page, which contains literally everything you need to know to install GomdoLight. FAILURE TO READ THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE INSTALLING WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO VARIOUS UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Needless to say, I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ALREADY ADDRESSED IN THIS DOCUMENT.
Due to xda forum's limits (in functionality) I am posting a link to the separate (external) DOWNLOAD PAGE. There is no way I can link to each section in the document in xda posts, since xda does not support HTML tag. However some portions of the document are also introduced here.

I'm not sure yet, but it may not be necessary. Because gomdolight is a large-scale patch mainly focusing on script-driven features, just three of system apks are overwritten:
- /system/framework/framework-res.apk
- /system/priv-app/LGSystemUI.apk
- /system/priv-app/LGCameraApp.apk
Camera should be compatible for all variants, and only the FRAMEWORK RESOURCE and the SYSTEM UI might have compatibility issue.
You can first take a Nandroid backup, and try installing GomdoLight all the way to the end over your stock firmware, and see if it boots (and operates without crashes)
For model selection just choose LG-F340K.
1) If it works well: CONGRATULATIONS! You have fully-working GomdoLight.
2) If it fails: Restore Nandroid, and reinstall GomdoLight. However this time choose the 4TH option for battery percentage indicator. (Do not change) This options leaves both framework-res and SystemUI unchanged, so it will work 100%.

do they CONSISTENTLY force close by certain actions? or just randomly?
I'm downloading now and will test it for the D95920s firmware. T-Mobile D959 on the latest KitKat 4.4.2 D95920s. Will report back later. I need my phone till at least 4pm central time so I can reach my son but I'll flash after that.
This intrigues me. Sprint supported? I don't feel like dealing with force closes mentioned in previous post in different variant.

probably. the script set is practically compatible with all current LGE devices with JB or KK. only few apks should be troublesome.
if not sure, choose not to change the status bar during installation. then it will not overwrite both framework-res and systemui.

Don't you see messages like 'GomdoLight: System starting up'?
You usually don't see visible differences after installing GomdoLight, especially on non-Korean firmware, since it does not know what apps to debloat. You would have to debloat the system yourself. However its extensive startup script set provides very unique and useful functions. These functions are explained in the simplified user manual that is automatically displayed after installing. If you did not see the manual opening, and if you do not see the startup messages either, probably something is wrong.

I seen all the startups and everything. Gomdo warning of superuser, a major lag on my phone for abot 3-5 minutes of lag. It only uninstalled vutalj. I honestly havent noticed anything special. I even tried it with that status bar selection and it went through fine.

gomdolight's optimizations are not much visually noticable, without drastic changes. if you expect a whole new experience this is not your type of rom.
or, you could install another stock-based rom that will bring significant changes, and install gomdolight over it (without status bar selection) to further aid with its performance.
think gomdolight as a special tool to streamline and 'properly' reorganize the stock firmware (or, stock-based roms). changes are not noticable at first sight, but they surely benefit the user somehow in the long run, and give you better control and (sometimes) superior disaster handling capabilities.
anyway, thank you for letting me know that selecting LGU+ model increases compatibility with non-Korean firmwares.

Android N preview supposedly being released March 9th 2016?

http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/9/11185872/android-n-developer-preview-features-report
The first preview build of Android N will be released to the public today with new features including a native split-screen mode, according to a report from 9to5Google. Citing an article from Ars Technica that was pulled after publication, 9to5Google says that the preview version of Android N includes a redesigned notification panel (with notifications that span the full width of the screen, and an edit button for quick changes), and improvements to the operating system's Doze feature, which will reportedly save battery whenever the screen turns off.
THERE'S ALSO A 'PICTURE IN PICTURE' MODE REPORTEDLY COMING
The biggest addition though, seems to be a new split-screen mode for multitasking. This reportedly works on both phones and tablets, and, like other features included in the preview, will be given to developers to test before it's released to the public later this year. 9to5Google says that Ars Technica also reported the existence of a new "picture in picture" mode which sounds similar to that in iOS 9, letting users shrink windows to a corner of their screen while browsing other apps.
The original Ars story also reportedly said that the preview will be available for the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Pixel C, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and the General Mobile 4G. Google is also said to be launching a new "Android Beta Program." All of this information is extremely provisional at the moment, but if the Ars Technica report is true, we can expect to hear more about Android N — and its new features — some time soon.
I would be surprised if it actually releases today, but one can hope!!
It's out! http://storage.googleapis.com/androiddevelopers/shareables/preview/shamu-npc56p-preview-54b13c67.tgz
Currently unlocked bootloader and running twrp 3.0
That being said how would I go about installing this image? The same way as the other images? Also, if I do this, will I be able to revert back?
Developer preview? It's still functional as a phone?
Awesome, thanks! I just downloaded the Shamu preview from http://developer.android.com/preview/download.html. Has anyone extracted and installed the images on their rooted 6.0.1? I'd rather not be the first, lol!

Haha yea, I just wish I knew how to make one myself...oh well
I wasn't expecting that, well safe to say this will be last of the preview for us. Safe to say folks with the OG Nex5 won't get android N

Any changes to the launcher?
This flashes just like a regular Nexus image right ? aka unzip, fastboot, etc, etc..............

Probably the coolest features, for me anyway, is built-in options to calibrate the display color (in System UI Tuner) AND change the DPI (in Display settings). I'm not sure if these will make it to the final build, but I really do hope so.
PS: you need to sign up for the android beta program to actually receive OTA updates https://g.co/androidbeta
as stated here: http://developer.android.com/preview/overview.html

I don't mind if I have to fastboot it vs. TWRP as a .zip, but I've been flashing out the yin-yang and I still have a few ROMs I want to try LOL. I'll get to this eventually....see how the feedback is first....plus I "need" root, not want...."need"...................LOL

mind that it will encrypt your device
The build.prop wifi tether method doesn't seem to work with the N preview at least in the traditional way. Has anyone managed to get it to work?

Linux on DeX on S9

Linux on DeX now works on the S9. An update was pushed today which adds support for the S9. You need to be on Android Pie, and then download the LoD 1.0.51 apk from SamMobile. Works well on my S9 Exynos although every once in a while it warns me that the container is running out of memory and LoD may slow down. Other than that it works well.
Not working for me

Hi. It did´t work on my S9 running Pie. Keeps popping up the message Linux on Dex requires your device to have the latest software...bla bla bla...my S9 is up to date. I used the LoD version 1.0.51.

Mine was updated on April 2nd 2019. Current Version: G9600ZHS3CSC1 /G9600OWO3CSAC/G9600ZCU3CSAA - Security patch level: March 1st 2019. When I check if there is any new updade, it says: Your software is up to date. So I will wait until I receive the security patch update of April and test again the Linux on Dex version 1.0.51 on my S9. Maybe this is the problem.

Today I finally received the April security patch. So I installed and voilà, it worked!!! Now I´m going to install Ubuntu on LoD on my S9.
Would this allow me to run full on programs? FL studio for example?

Ok i will check it out when i get there. However i am struggling to get the Linux on Dex beta to install on my s9
At the start when you download the app i am told to click the + button and select download from server.
When i select download from server i get this error message.

Sorry was running old version, i have now installed it
Tried it, and I have to say I'm not impressed. Linux Deploy does a better job for the most part. The main advantage of LoD is that it doesn't require root. But we're stuck with and outdated version of Ubuntu with Unity (yuck) and around 4 gigs of unnecessary files. I can't get sshd working either.

I believe you can update from the official linuxondex webpage. However am unsure how to do it myself.
My security patch is from June 1, g960wvls5csea but I get the message when I try to run LoD update sftware blah.
