Hello everyone !
I have received my Teclast X98 Air III there is five days now, from Gearbest Europe Warehouse, but now like i like Greenify and Xposed, i would like to know if there is a good method to root it with no bootloop or risk to brick my tablet.
I've a debloated rom, no chinese apps, only google play a good point when i've powered on it the first time ! My android version is : V1.00_20151204
Someone know how to root it whitout problem(s) ? For install Xposed and Greenify correctly !
Thank's in advance ! And sorry for my english i'm french and try to not use Google Translate ..
PS : If i've find time to do it, i'll try to make a ROM for this tablet
EDIT : I've found a way to do it really easy and fast ! I've write a small tutorial !
Thank's a lot of those thread :

Finaly find a way to root the Teclast X98 Air III really easy and fast !
First you need to downlaod the Teclast-x98-Root+Xposed.zip file here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-8PvC9Chb15bG1wTWFZYXZmSEk/view?usp=sharing
Extract file, will must have 5 others files IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015 + UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46 + XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4 + xposed-v78-sdk21-x86 + adb-setup-1.4.2
YOU NEED ADB DRIVER (include into the file, install "adb-setup-1.4.2" say "Yes" to everything;
Tutorial is here : http://androidmtk.com/download-best-android-adb-driver)
Extract the IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015.zip
1. Enable USB Debugging
Go to your tablet and enable the "Developer options" ( Setting => About => Tap the Build Number a few times and you'll see after 7 taps the message "You are now a developer!".)
Return back and click to "Developer options" => Check "USB Debugging" and Accept the mesage (Allow debugging...)
2. Copy those files "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46", "XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4" & "xposed-v78-sdk21-x86" to your tablet memory
3. Plug tablet to your PC
4. Run the script "launcher.bat" into IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015 folder
Accept for continue.
Choose the 5th option : CWM (5 MCG)
And Trigger 4 option (T4 for run the script)
5. Tablet will reboot into recovery mode, don't be stressed and leave your tablet plug.
6. When you are into the recovery, select install zip (Power button), search into your folders with UP/Down Volume buttons "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46" and select it with the Power button, and say YES for install
After install SuperSU, now install Xposed => select install zip (Power button), search into your folders with UP/Down Volume buttons "xposed-v78-sdk21" and select it with the Power button, and say YES for install
7. Select "Reboot system now" and say "NO" (don't choose Fix root will may brick your tablet)
8. Tablet will restart (can take some seconds/minutes...) and wait after the "App optimisation"
(Now you can check if you are root with "Root Checker" in Google Play market)
10. Go with a Files Manager at the folder where you have put the there files before and install "XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4"
It's done ! You are root ! Only 5 minutes, fast, easy and sure !
Say me if you have been able to make it too !

EDIT :
yeah finally i did it...
thanks to HallEx for the guide & ianmills for the driver.
This isn't working for me either. After step 4 the tablet reboots to the screen with the android on his back with his panel open. It says:
E:No valid installer medium found.
Any ideas how to fix this? I have the 32GB (M5C5) if it matters
EDIT: Installing Intel drivers from https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-usb-driver-for-android-devices
now makes this step work correctly
but CRAP!
I followed the instructions correctly including chose "No" after reboott system now with one exception. I installed superSU it rebooted and worked fine. I forgot to put the Xposed zip on so I redid the process only installing the Xposed zip this time. Now when rebooted its stuck on booting with Teclast stuck on the screen. The device gets quite hot but nothign else happens
edit: Rebooted a couple of time and now it works
Thanks!

Also worked for me, but only after installing intel drivers as ianmills hinted, before that it wasn´t opening the install option in the tablet, just rebooted and stuck there! after installing the intel drivers everything went fine!

I tried to flash CM on my Galaxy S.
I followed after the instructions in the CM wiki but now, when it says to do
Code:
adb push YOURROMZIP.zip /sdcard/
, it says "Error: device not found".
The instructions says that this is an driver issue.
What to do? Because currently my device is in boot loop (I can go to Recovery+Download modes).
It should work in cwm recovery

I know that it should, but it don't.
In cwm there should be Mounts And storage tab. And there choose Mount usb Storage. Then attach your Phone to computer with usb cable. Then it should be in removable disk

Yes, you can move zip to SD card and you need SD card adapter too :good:
I've found drivers for the phone. If you need them follow this.
1. Make sure that you dont have any drivers installed.
2. Check that your phone is not attached to your computer.
3. Go to this page http://developer.samsung.com/android/tools-sdks/Samsung-Andorid-USB-Driver-for-Windows
4. Then click there

5. Download will start.
6. Then extract it with WinRAR etc.
7. After that install drivers.
8. Wait until its completed.
9. Restart your computer.
10. And after all steps you can plug your phone to computer.:good:
Now adb should work
It didn't worked before and it's not working now.
I will just buy a Micro SD card and an adapter. (Much easier)
Ok

Hey, take it easy and don't worry.... With working download and recovery mode you have all you need, your phone will be perfectly fine. Which recovery and which version?
The command you have posted in the opening post is for pushing a file from ADB folder to your phone. So for that command you must
have installed ADB on your PC
have installed Samsung USB driver
have installed drivers of your phone (by simply connecting it and waiting for about 1 min until it automatically gets installed)
If you have copied the file to your folder where the ADB and fastboot exe applications are (normally under SDK/platform-tools) you should navigate to your folder first, for example if you put your SDK to the folder "ANDROID" on your main HDD ("C") it looks like this:
Code:
Ctrl+R
cd c:\android\sdk\platform-tools [I](enter)[/I]
adb push YOURZIP'SEXACTLYWRITTENNAME.zip /sdcard/download [I](enter)[/I]
So this command would copy (push) the zip file from your PC (from the folder where you have first navigated to) to folder "download" on the internal SD card of your phone.
If not sure if your device is connected to the ADB, try first this:
Code:
Ctrl+R
cd c:\android\sdk\platform-tools [I](enter)[/I]
adb devices [I](enter)[/I]
The echo should look like:
bla bla bla
39123(just example)456789. .device
(the bolded text is important, only by such return you would have the correctly working connection)
If you have uninstalled Samsung USB driver, you can find download link in my thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444308
You will find there all other information how to unbrick your phone. Actually it isn't even bricked, you just need to install any ROM now. Please post in my thread if you have questions. So I will see it instantly in my Tapatalk, as I will be a lot traveling around next few days.
The SD card is working, but now the phone is stuck in installation. It's always booting, going to the CWM-Based CM recovery and showing a red triangle and start over. It's working! But I need gapps... The gapps package through Goo.im is broken. I need one. (I can't live without apps!) I have CM 10.2.1

Are you sure? it says Android 4.3 (In the name of the file) and CM 10.2.1 is Android 4.3.1.
NOTE: This procedure is only for Android 5.1. If you updated your phone to Android 6, please see post #404 for notes on how to root it properly! Special thanks to @LonePlykin for the 6.1 information in post #404!
Credits
- I did not come up with the procedure to root this phone - that work was done by member @hackvcs - I just put this guide together using the method that he developed (and using the custom recovery that he put together). Please give all credit to @hackvcs!!! Also, the links to the files below are not my links - they are links that other members provided (member who provided them is listed below).
Pre-requistes/Downloads:
- HTC Desire 626s phone
- Official TWRP Recovery Images: https://twrp.me/devices/htcdesire626s.html - Thanks @Captain_Throwback!
- Recovery images (custom CyanogenMod recovery and stock recovery image) - provided by @hackvcs (https://mega.nz/#!sp0wCThZ!MQVTq6y_8DJShrvNrY4L-JtJBDHOQhnaLRq8UiqLruQ)
- SuperSU binary .zip file - link provided by @mussio (https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU)
1. Unlock bootloader
- Enable "Unknown Sources" on your phone:
- Settings->Security: Check "Unknown Sources" checkbox- Enable "Developer Mode" and enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM Unlocking" settings
- Settings->About->Software Information->More: Tap on "Build Number" until it tells you that Developer Mode is enabled.
- Settings->Developer Options: Enable "OEM Unlocking" and "USB Debugging" options.- Actually unlock the bootloader by going to the HTCdev "Unlock Bootloader" website (www.htcdev.com/bootloader) and following the directions to unlock your bootloader. You will need to create an account on this website before being able to unlock the bootloader. I'm not going to provide step-by-step instructions for the bootloader unlock procedure since the HTCdev website already provides a step-by-step procedure. However, here are a few key notes regarding this procedure:
- The bootloader unlock procedure will reset your phone back to factory defaults. Make sure to backup anything that you need on the phone before unlocking the bootloader. You can optionally install the "HTC Sync Manager" (link provided on HTCdev website) to backup your phone before starting the process.
- In the "Select your device" box on the first screen of the bootloader unlock procedure, select "HTC Desire *" as the device type.
- If you are running the latest firmware on your phone, you do not need to worry about the phone update page when you first start the unlock process - just scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the "Proceed to Step 1" button to start the procedure.
- You will need to install Java if you don't already have it installed - there is a link to download Java right on the same page as the bootloader unlock procedure.
- You will need to download and install the fastboot binaries provided in step 4 of the bootloader unlock procedure. Unzip the fastboot.exe file included in the zip to a directory that you will use to root your HTC Desire 626s (I recommend creating a new directory for this - something like "C:\HTC626s") - later, you will also put the other files you need (recovery image file and SuperSU binary .zip file) into this same directory so that everything is in one place.
2. Install custom recovery
Once you have successfully unlocked your bootloader, you will need to flash a custom recovery (TWRP recommended). This recovery image will replace the stock recovery on your phone and allow to flash the SuperSU binaries in the next step.
- Connect your phone to the PC via USB cable and let the PC install the necessary drivers for the phone.
- Reboot the phone into "Download" mode:
- Power off phone
- While holding the Volume Down button, press the device Power button. Continue to hold the Volume Down button until the phone boots into "Download" mode. To confirm that the bootloader is unlocked and that you are in "Download" mode, you should see the following two lines at the top of the screen:
- "hTC download mode"
- "*** Unlocked ***"- Once you have confirmed that you are in download mode and the bootloader is unlocked, it's time to flash the custom recovery:
- Open a Command Prompt (aka DOS prompt) window and change to the directory where you put the fastboot.exe file. If using the recommended directory, you would type this command in the Command Prompt window to change to that directory:
- Type "cd \HTC626s" and press [ENTER]- Make sure that the recovery file is in the same directory (type "DIR" and press [ENTER] to see the files in the current directory). If it is not in the current directory, put it there before continuing (via Windows Explorer). Also, I'd recommend renaming the recovery image to "recovery.img" - it makes typing the commands a little easier and reduces the likleyhood of a typo. So before continuing, you should have both "fastboot.exe" and "recovery.img" in the current directory.
- In the command prompt window, type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and press [ENTER] - this will flash the custom recovery to your device.
3. Install SuperSU superuser binaries
Now that we have the bootloader unlocked and the CyanogenMod recovery installed, we are set to flash the SuperSU binaries to actually root the device. Before continuing, make sure that you have copied the SuperSU binary .zip file to the internal storage on your phone! Once we boot into CyanogenMod, you will have to navigate to this .zip file in order to install it. It MUST be on the *internal* phone storage (not on the MicroSD card).
- Reboot your phone into recovery:
- Power off the phone
- Power on the phone while holding the "Volume Down" button. Keep holding "Volume Down" until the phone boots into Download mode.- Scroll down to "Reboot to bootloader" and press the power button.
- Once in bootloader mode, scroll down to "Boot to recovery mode" and press the power button. At this point, you should be in the CyanogenMod recovery menu.
- Scroll down to "Apply Update" and press the power button
- Scroll down to "Choose from internal storage" and press the power button
- Navigate to where you stored the SuperSU .zip file and select it - the SuperSU binaries will be installed on the phone. That should do it! You should now have a rooted HTC Desire 626s. Reboot the phone into Android and confirm that you have a SuperSU icon in your app drawer and then confirm that the device is actually rooted.
NOTES:
- Your phone MUST be in "Download" mode when flashing the custom recovery! You CANNOT install the recovery image when the phone is in "Bootloader" mode. If you receive this message: "remote: cannot flash this partition in s-on state", that means that you are trying to flash the recovery image while the phone is in "Bootloader" mode - you MUST be "Download" mode when flashing the recovery image!
- Bootloader MUST be unlocked before attempting to install a custom recovery. Verify that you bootloader is unlocked by checking for "*** Unlocked ***" text at top of the screen when the phone is in "Download" mode.
- After rooting, you can always revert back to the stock recovery if you'd like - the stock recovery image is provided in the same .zip file that contained the CyanogenMod recovery image (provided by @hackvcs).
Again, big thanks to @hackvcs for coming up with the custom recovery - which was the key to getting root on this device!
Great write up. Clear and concise. If you cannot root with this, you have not followed every step. I missed a step the first time. Figured it out and worked perfectly.

HELP, says cant load recovery img. why????:crying::crying::crying::crying:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in your current directory (the directory where you type the fastboot command). Type "dir" and press [ENTER] to make sure it's in the same directory as the fastboot.exe file. Post a screenshot of the error and the dir command output.
Thanks for the post.. just a question.. will this work with an HTC Desire 626x ?????
Success
I was successful on HTC 626s on MetroPCS. Will we see a cyanogenmod build?
Sorry guys if my question is too remedial, but do I have to install the entire sdk to unlock the boot loader? I'm using a friends computer and it's a rather large download. I guess what I'm asking is, is there a certain component I can download to keep the install minimal? Or do I have to install the complete sdk?

No need to download SDK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118
What is this?
This is All-in-One installer for 3 most needed PC tools for Android. No need to download big SDK for 3 small things. I originaly made it for my Kurdish friend AnGrY DuDe in early 2013. I saw another ADB installer on XDA, but it wasn't good enough for me so i'm finaly posting it here. It's very small and fast installer for tools and drivers.
I think that all you really need for this process is the fastboot.exe that is available for download from the HTCdev site. I didn't use ADB at all to unlock the bootloader/root my phone - just fastboot.exe.
Thanks for the help guys! I'm back to report that the process was a success! I am rooted. Also just a heads up: stay away from xposed for now. Got stuck on the boot screen until my battery died after I installed it
wooooow, tanks bro, woks perfect, now I'm going to erase all the garbage of my carrier 'TELCEL'.
[Q] there is no problem if I keeping installed on the device the cyanogen recovery??...

Something is not night with your recovery.img - it's a directory instead of a file. I'm guessing that the actual recovery image in inside of the recovery.img directory....

Bro, I think recovery.img is not in the same folder of fastboot.exe , I say that because I see in the print screen <DIR> recovery.img, that mean is in a folder... or recovery.img is a folder...
Thank you for help guys. I figured it out. I needed to rename the actual Cyanogen file to recovery.img.
I made the mistake of renaming the folder. I haven't rooted an HTC since the Evo. It clearly showed. Process took way too long. This is why I stick with Samsung phones.

HI, I got this phone yesterday, it is now rooted with a custom CWM recovery and it's a great phone!
No issues so far, seems fast and stable and even plays flac files!

How to root :
You need to download four files
1. CWM Carliv 6 Elephone M2.zip
or TWRP_M2.zip
2. SP_Flash_Tool
3. UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
4. MTK_Drivers_carliv_repack_win7_x64.zip
Copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip to your internal storage card on your phone. You will need this later.
In Windows (not virtualbox) extract CWM Carliv 6 Elephone M2.zip, SP_Flash_Tool_5.1532.00.000_Windows.zip and MTK_Drivers_carliv_repack_win7_x64.zip
Go to the MTK_Drivers_carliv_repack_win7_x64 folder and click flash_tool
Then Click the Download tab at the top.
In that window click the Scatter Loading button and browse to the CWM Carliv 6 Elephone M2 folder and select the CWM Carliv 6 Elephone M2 file.
View attachment 3563620
Click Download.
Turn off your phone
Plug the USB cable into your phone and into the computer
Don't turn on your phone
When the Windows driver installer pops up cancel searching Windows Update and make it install the driver from MTK_Drivers_carliv_repack_win7_x64
You may have to force this by agreeing to install a non-signed driver, don't worry, it will still work.
Your phone should stay on a black screen, if not do this again until Windows has the correct driver.
You need to have the Preloader driver installed, once it is the flash_tool will flash the recovery.
The phone boots to Preloader then normal boot, if you miss the preloader option you have to restart and try again.
If your phone does not reboot (mine did not) you need to turn off the phone and then turn it on while holding Volume +
You will get three options on the screen
Recovery
Fastboot
Normal
You change the option with volume +
You choose the option with volume -
We want recovery
In Recovery
The volume buttons move up and down
Power selects the option you are on
You need to Install Zip
choose file from /sdcard
0/

Finally I obtain access root on Elephone M2. I try three time but was my error.
Thanks Kangburra for your attention and instructions.
CWM Carliv 6 For Elephone M1 can anyone help me?
Got no popup and cannot install the MTK_Drivers_carliv_repack_win7_x64. My phone reboots normal :/
Is the phone plugged in when you restart it? Is there a failed device in Windows Device Manager?
No failed device in Device Manager and the phone is plugged in. I've got it working and can access it with the Explorer in Windows. But the Flash-App doesn't flash a recovery
The driver for windows is not the same as the preloader needed to flash.
That's correct. But how can I change it (windows 7)? Don't know what I must uninstall and how I can install the correct drivers.

Kangburra, great post, txs
Lost my suscription, so starting again as newby
Why would I root? Many sites warn against it.
Rooted my previous non-brand Chinese phone with Android 4.1.1., only 1GB of RAM and partitioned phone memory (12 Mb)
Used Kingroot, worked like a charm, usefull because of partitioned phone memory and could get rid of junk & tmp files. Did not solve low RAM btw (Android too old for swap apps)
bought M2 for bigger RAM, but only 780 Mb out of 3 GB available for apps (in my phone, checked with several appps); get the impression that this is due to the launcher that Elephone installed (becomes visible after installing Nova). As I understand it, the so called UI is only a launcher (60 Mb). Why then so much RAM in use?
So my question(s) to you: (1) do you agree with memory findings, and (2) will this improve with root?
TXS in advance for your thoughts

Restart on the twrp by SevenMaxs.
Select the .zip file and flash it.
Then restart your mobile.
Here you are rooted.

Before I start: everything I'm going to post here, I learned from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/maven-3/help/zte-maven-3-z835-root-t3705687/page9
VERSION OF MAGISK FLASHEAD v17.1 (Unfortunately no one has flashed version v18.1)
What we need (they will be in the links at the end):
-ZPST for AT&T (with this program we are going to flash the modified boot.img)
-Drivers: QDLoader, ZTE AndroidUSB and ZTE_V889F (in case the previous Zte driver does not work).
-Modified boot.img that are already flashed with Magisk, only the following versions are available:
-Z835V2.0.0B10
-Z835V2.0.0B12
-Z835V1.0.0B13
-Magisk Manager version compatible with v17.1
EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS IN A LINK AT THE END OF THE POST.
Let's get started.
I recommend to do a hard reset before starting, however, in one of my devices I did it having data and applications installed, if you have used kingroot or any other software in your phone, erase all trace of it so you do not have problems.
We download all the contents of the folder, install all drivers included, and the ZPST for AT&T.
Starting to flash:
WE NEED AT LEAST 50-60% of Battery
Turn off the phone and turn on pressing Vol Down + Power Button, the phone will start in FTM mode.
Open ZPST for AT&T and select version Z835

WARNING, remove the usim and sd card
Once inside the software we proceed to connect the cell phone.
1. You will see if the phone was recognized by the com port.
2. Download, this is where we will enter to download the firmware
3. You will see your information imei and so on.
This is how it will look once connected (Let's go to the download tab)
1. Let's select the firmware (it has to be the same as the cell phone otherwise it can corrupt the imei)
2. We chose where to keep a small log to check if everything went well.
3. HIT THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON!!!!!
WARNING: wait for the device to restart at least 2 or 3 times, one of them will be in FTM mode again, so do not panic, it will take a while in 3% or 5%.
When the phone starts normally, if you did a hard reset configure everything again, otherwise, we will proceed to install the magisk.
DO NOT INSERT THE SD CARD YET!
Magisk asks if I want to update to the latest version, press NO THANKS.
Proceed to uninstall
Now let's install the version of magisk manager we downloaded (com.topjohnwu.magisk_6.1.0-165_minAPI21(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk)
When the installation is finished we enter Magisk and this will ask us if we want to upgrade to the latest version, PRESS NO!
Now we will see that magisk is installed correctly.
We see that we can use all its functions.
We will proceed to verify if we have root access.
Download root checker
And Voila!

Nice work! This confirms that the bootloader is unlocked, which means we can then use just the firehose to flash these files. I will work on writing something up for that.

You can install titanium backup, twrp is not possible at this point, no one has done it yet, you can delete system apps through adb, using
Code:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 packagename
But i haven't figured out yet how to get rw permission on system/apps so i can delete system apk's.

Thats odd, try this: download another folder B12 or B10, and just paste the B13 boot.img, maybe that could work, one of the devices i rooted was B13.
Well, I tried what you suggested, and now I get "download failed" and "failed to change mode before downloading firmware" It seems to be stuck in FTM. I guess it's bricked?

Fear not, that happened to me also, just keep in ftm and make a stock boot.img flash, provided in the mega folder. Paste the boot stock image inside the b13 folder
Placed stock boot.img into B13 folder in place of custom boot.img. The process failure point is now back to the missing sbl1.mbn problem. I can get the phone to start, however, so it's not bricked. Whew!
