Hello,
I have HBOOT-2.01.0001 RADIO-3822.01.08.14_M eMMC-boot and I'm running newest Cyanogenmod RC 7.2.0 RC1. Yesterday my phone was stock RUU and I went to HTCDEV.com and unlocked it. After that I flashed the recovery to Clockworkmod v.4.0.1.4 through ADB. Put the CM RC 7.2.0 RC1 .zip on the root of the SD card along with Gapps .zip file.
Then I rebooted into Clockworkmod recovery and installed the 2 .zip files and rebooted. It would not boot and was stuck on HTC logo screen. I found out that I had to separately flash the boot.img file from within the CM RC 7.2.0 RC1 .zip and then everything worked fine.
(Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I did do a backup from within the Clockworkmod before flashing the CM rom)
Ok, so I tested Cyanogenmod for a couple of hours and found out that it was a bit faster than the new stock Ice Cream Sandwich (latest update per 20 april 2012) and it had a lot of ekstra features, but the interface and layout is really low end in my opinion. I gave it a honest try and spent some time changing settings and layouts and even downloaded a couple of ADW themes. Nothing that was even near the new ICS.
Bottom line is that I really want to get back to the original stock RUU Ice Cream Sandwich and I'm unable to
Attempt 1:
I have tried to restore the backup that I made in Clockworkmod and it seems to install just fine. But when restarting it gets stuck on HTC logo Screen. So I thought, maybe this has something to do with the boot.img that has to be flashed manually. So I took out the SD card and put it in my PC using a adapter. Found the boot.img file from the backup inside the clockworkmod/Backup folder and flashed the boot.img file and I'm still stuck on HTC logo screen. It will not boot after recovering the backup no matter what I try.
Attempt 2:
After googling a lot I found the website Shipped ROMs and found my model which I believe to be VIVO (I have a HTC Incredible S from april 2011 in Norway (Europe)).
The only logical RUU i can find is: RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.30.405.1_Radio_20 .2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M_release_199308_sign ed.exe
Since the other 2 RUU's listed are ASIA.
I downloaded the WWE RUU and ran it. I followed the instructions to the point and got the message Error 155 after about 30 seconds right after it is finished with sending.....
Now the phone will not boot again, stuck on HTC logo screen. And so I'm running out of ideas. In other words I'm stuck here
I reflashed the same Cyanogenmod rom and at least that works again
Anybody have any suggestions in how to solve this or any info at all to direct me into the right direction? This would be much appreciated
I'm thinking maybe anybody knows where I can find a stock ROM .zip file for this phone modell that I can flash the same way i do Cyanogenmod (as described above)?
Maybe even an older version like Froyo, but then I hope it is possible to update to latest stock RUU just using the built in "search for update" function in settings.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. T. Nuis

You can only run and use a RUU successfully when you relock your bootloader. That is what the error 155 is telling out.
In the Development section there is a stock, rooted ICS ROM based on the WWE RUU as well as a couple of custom ICS ROMs based on the stock ICS. You can flash these in CWM like you did CM 7.2
Dude follow nonverbose downgrade technique .... I've gone through same problem...he will help u and he is the best
Smal suggestion ,if u want to upgrade to stock ics 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 its waste of time u will definetly go back to custom roms believe me...

Thanx man, could you also provide me with a direct link? I´m unable to find this. I don´t get it. Whenever using the "Search All Forums" all this other stuff comes up. I must be searching wrong....
If you want to install stock RUU again, you need to relock the bootloader as some one already pointed out..
To relock the bootloader, enter your phone's bootloader, connect your phone to your computer --> enter fastboot in your bootloader --> fastboot menu should show fastboot usb once the usb is connected --> open command prompt/terminal on your computer --> type fastboot devices. if your phone is recognized, it should show the device serial number.
Then type fastboot oem lock...your phone's bootloader should be relocked...then install the RUU
Sometimes, you need to format the data and system partition for the RUU to work properly. You need to do this before relocking the bootloader through a custom recovery (i find this easy instead of using ADB). This is not mandatory. I ran into some problem once and formatting data and system partitions worked..But, as I said, it happened only once and it is not mandatory to do this every time you relock your bootloader.
Please correct me if I am wrong...
edit :
you can find Stock RUUs in the following link...select your device and carrier

No, a RUU is a Windows PC App that you run on your PC and then follow the instructions to attach your phone via the USB cable when prompted.
It will install a stock Sense ROM to your IncS. The only version on HTCDEV.com is the final ICS 4.0.4 ROM with Sense 3.6.

The one in my signature is built from the 4.14.405.1 RUU and is a fully rooted version of this stock ROM.
You can flash it on an unlocked bootloader from recovery just like you would for other custom ROMs.
Since you have an unlocked bootloader, you would have to manually flash the boot.img file contained in the ROM's zip file just like other custom ROMs.

Yes, it has full stock Sense 3.6.
As for the download, sounds like you may have downloaded the kernel source and not the RUU.

ok you need some apps missing during unlock boot loader process
Which was at data /preload so you have to restore them like sound hound & others
How get these apk
find another HTC One with same software version install es file explorer on that
Open es explorer go to apps manager backup all apps which are HTC made like calculator flash light htc ringtonetrimmer htc sound recorder sound hound use your logic these apps are long name & version then any other apps
copy these apps to your phone data/preload use root explorer now try ota again ( if any error still there note that error & try solving same way)
Or easy & long way S Off your phone
Then just install THIS & try ota for next version & again next version until you get your desired version
from HTC One
Does this require the phone to be rooted? Just so you know, my phone is not rooted.

Facing a similar problem but with system/app/plusone.apk, the sense 5.5 OTA had come in without any issues, only this OTA is getting stuck. I am S-ON, bootloader locked with stock recovery. To use the Guru reset tool, is it necessary to be S-OFF? My s/w version is 4.19.1540.9, there is a 4.3 RUU available on Htc dev site? Can i download it and run the .exe on a computer with my phone being BL locked, stock recovery or we can not downgrade to 4.3 from 4.4.2? I was planning to run the 4.3 .exe ruu and then OTA twice to get sense 6.

you can't downgrade with S-ON using a ruu. This is not required to to be s-off to use guru reset rom but s-off is required for the guru bootloader reset tool. There is also a nandroid backup of 5.11.1540.9 and the signed firmware in the dev edition updates thread, where you have already posted about the same issue. look at page 94

Thanks a lot alray, i did see the tutorial and to use the Guru reset tool, i need to unlock my bootloader, flash TWRP, then flash Guru reset tool and read on screen instructions to flash a stock recovery and firmware. After that, i need to relock the bootloader and check for OTA updates. The guru reset available is 3.22.1540.1 and as you say it does not require S-OFF.
What would be a safer way? To use guru reset tool and then do OTA updates till the latest firmware or install the 5.11.1540.9 firmware, i have absolutely no clue on how to flash stock firmwares, if it is done through custom recoveries or stock recovery.
Thanks

don't lock bootloader until your work finished you don't need it unlocked bootloader will help you if you got some difficulty / error
Guru rest Rom not required s off but if ota over that version should be same with your current version if not ota will fail for example your current version is 5 you use guru reset rom with version 3 then you will update it with ota version 4 it will fail because S On will not let you flash firmware 4 over 5 so keep that in mind use guru reset with same version of your current version

Darn it, which means i cant use Guru reset as my current version is 4.19.1540.9 and there is no reset tool available for it. Dont want to play around with S-OFF etc as am planning to sell the phone and worried if something might go wrong during the process.
The last option available is to then use a 4.19.1540.9 but one user had said some where that4.xx RUU's are not working.
I tried but could not find a 4.19.1540.9 nandroid backup as well, will try the RUU and if it does not work then maybe wait for htc dev to release 4.4.2 RUU from their end.
Is there any way to do this without rooting?

Why would you want to find a 4.19.1540.9 nandroid backup when I said at post #11 that there is a nandroid backup of 5.11.1540.9 and the 5.11.1540.9 signed firmware in the dev edition updates thread at page 94 (posted by me, users reported both nandroid and firmware working good)
@yatindroid : sorry for hijacking this thread.
Sorry but i have no clue at all on how to use that nandroid backup to update the phone. Do i need to unlock bootloader again, flash twrp and then restore that backup?
What to do with the firmware file?
Thanks

unlock bootloader
flash twrp 2.6.3.3
boot phone in recovery
make a backup of ''Boot'' only (this is only to generate a backup path on your phone)
when completed, reboot phone in the OS, connected on your computer
browse your internal storage, go to TWRP/Backups/Your_Phone_serial/Some_date/
delete files in this folder (these are the file backed up previously to generate the backup path above)
extract the 5.11.1540.9 backup archive and copy all the files in the backup folder (previously generated) of your phone (TWRP/Backups/Your_Phone_serial/Some_date/) should have around 11 files (some .win .md5 files and a .log)
go back in twrp, select ''restore'' , select ''some_date'' folder, select all the partitions and swipe to restore
after the restore is completed, in twrp go to ''wipe'' then ''swipe to factory reset'' do not ''format data'' or ''advanced wipe''
reboot phone in the OS
if you want to update the firmware after restoring the backup:
relock bootloader
reboot bootloader
flash the firmware
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot oem flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot oem flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot
flashing firmware can be dangerous so be sure you understand what you are doing first, there is a lot of threads here explaining how to flash firmware.

Why not just seeling the phone ''as is'' ?
if you have any other question please pm me, open another thread or post in the dev update thread so it will be easier for @yatindroid and @viv_1980 to continue troubleshooting viv_1980's issue.
there is also another thread that discuss the exact same issue you are having ''unexpected content'' of /system/app/plusone.apk on 4.19.1540.9: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53381299
Maybe you could try what I said in that thread before messing with backups and firmware.
Problem solved
Thanks a ton to @alray, @yatindroid and @SaHiLzZ, i finally downloaded the 4.19.1540.9 RUU from Android ruu, connected to windows 7, used the .exe file and it smoothly flashed the stock firmware. After it, updated OTA to sense 6 and this time the update went smoothly and my M7 is now updated to sense 6. It is completely stock now, will easily get OTA updates in future and i wanted to set things right before selling it off so that the future owner does not face issues with the phone, not every one is a member of Xda .
Thanks guys
Hi,
I was running cyanogenmod 11 nightly and I was trying to flash the stock HTC sense ROM on my phone, but I think I wiped the system and there is no OS installed.
I am on hboot 1.57 and S-On. I have tried several RUUs, but they can't detect my phone.
Please Help!
Your thread has been moved to the Q&A section. Please do not create new threads in the Development section, unless it is development. Please look through the XDA rules, once you have resolution to your issue.
Thank you.

is your bootloader locked or unlocked? if unlocked, do you have a custom recovery installed? if you can access fastboot and s-on, you're almost certainly not bricked.
also, out of curiosity, what is the error you get when running the RUU exe when it says you can't detect your phone?

I think I was getting error 170 USB connection error.

I was also getting error 170 just yesterday that the RUU couldn't detect the phone. it was happening for me with the bootloader locked (and unlocked too for that matter). i don't have an answer for that yet.
As for the system mounting, I was having the same problem . I went into TWRP, went to Mount and mounted data. I'm not sure if that step mattered. I then went into Wipe/Advanced Wipe and wiped everything (except usb-otg), which I believe formatted system and data properly, but cache was still a problem. I then used "adb push" to push a ROM to internal storage and flashed it. At this point, everything was working except cache was still not able to mount. When I hit the wipe cache/dalvik button after flashing the ROM though it formatted cache properly (I had previously done fastboot format cache which made it unreadable). Basically, just wiping and flashing until I had it working again.
Let me know if this works for you too.
Thanks Vember31!
I'll try it tomorrow and i'll let you know if it works.
Hey Guys!
I was able to un-brick my phone with the correct version of the RUU. I don't know how I was able to fix the USB error, but my computer was able to recognize my phone. I am back on stock HTC Sense 6 with android 4.4.2 kit kat. I am going to put some sort of stock android ROM on it.
Are there any other ROMS other than cyanogenmod that you would recommend?

Which RUU did you use??
There are a handful of great AOSP roms out right now for m7spr. I'd check the Sprint HTC One Android Development threads. In terms of lollipop, we have CM12 (unofficial), liquid smooth, pac beta builds, unofficial aicp (new) and a couple of 5.0+ GE/Sense builds. There are no active roms in the Original Android Development threads at this time. I've tried all of the aosp builds and would say they're all comparable, though with some i've had "no sim card" issues
I used the Sprint HTC One M7 5.05.651.2 RUU
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...449708-ruu-sprint-htc-onem7-5-05-651-2-a.html
Hey Guys,
Here is a link to the latest 6.16.651.2 lollipop RUU for the Sprint HTC One M7
I have bricked my Desire 510. I need a ROM to flash through philz touch recovery, if some one in Australia has this device with philz touch can you please make a backup in the recovery and then post it to me! Its my last hope because no RUUs are working.
Either that or make me a ROM that is for the Australian telstra 64-bit model maybe some ome can teach me how to create and compile it my self.
Have you tried a backup first ?

This seems like a Strange question I know, But have you tried doing a BACKUP FIRST ?
Now having had to rescue a couple of these phones (3 to be precise) , (all with the same nandroid backup I might add)
(With No help from HTC - where are the RUU links for our phone I have to ask?, that having been said, thanks HTC for letting me unlock bootloader, (still cool) I take it all back.....)
I have found however that if a flash completes but is no good , fails to boot for example, that if you FIRST, take a backup with philz of your corrupted system, - to allow the recovery to write a last log to (broken) system with mount points, phone specifics about baseband, serial no., etc,.. BEFORE trying to restore a Good copy of a nandroid backup
(hope you have one! )
That you should then be able to restore a nandroid backup to phone. sometimes even a nandroid that failed last time. (due to failing to find mount points)
A quick note on this point is that only backups made while booted into recovery have proven successful when trying to restore backups thus far, all methods of taking backups any other way are/will be corrupted and will not prove in any way useful to restore your device.
Most of the RUU updates are wrong bootloader by the way they are based on 3.4 kernel (32bit) and not 3.10 kernel which is what 64 bit is running.
I would offer you a copy of a nandroid myself but I am aware that radio firmware is tied to carrier and probably would not work for your baseband and carrier setup. If all else fails however you are of course welcome to try, (pm me if you need a copy) I dont think it will be too long before a successful port to our phone anyway.
Good-luck,
ki113r.
Please send me a nano backup when youre on EU models orange romania

i have a similar case, i was able to get 64 bit RUU's from the internet (Asia WWE, and HTC Europe) but i can't flash them, the following is a description of the situation:
1. bootloader unlocked, custom recovery installed.
2. S-ON,
3. no userdata (system partition ?) i don't know the difference, i can flash boot (kernel) and recovery.
4. i can't flash the above mentioned roms since it is saying i have wrong CID, and i can't change the CID because S-ON
any tips ?
* i was able to download, compile & build kernel from source for telstra, i don't know how system (or userdata) image is built, any hint on that as well ?

Hi Mate,
i've got the following:
Code:
cid: TELST001
i was thinking hex editing the zip file to replace the cid, but since its zipped i can't find the plain text to get it replaced.
thanks in advance.
Have u relocked the bootloader and then tried to install the RUU?
I had the same problem with restoring the orginal Rom.
I think the command for relocking the bootloader was "fastboot oem relock"

I've already done that, having the bootloader unlocked will throw another error, this was incorrect CID related one.
my phone is on Telstra (Australia) ROM, sadly, the RUU exists on some Persian forums with paid service, if there is a way where i can compile/build the system image from source, please let me know..

Dear All,
Pl. somebody may guide me as to which Firmware shall be the correct one, to Flash with the details of my Handset as below:-
1) Sprint 831 C - M8_WHL PVT SHIP - S- OFF,
2) CID - 11111111
3) HBOOT - 3.16.0.0000
4) Radio : 1.00.20.0120.
Further, Since the device came to me in the S-OFF and SuperSU installed on it (Rooted), I managed to install twrp-2.7.0.2-m8.img, for which now I have backed up my complete system, and have nandroid backup for it.
Now, I am curious to install other custom rom as well, my earlier readings / understandings here & after googleling, warns me to do it untill I have the Firm ware updated.
My queries,
1) Should I download the RUU 1.5 GB 1) http://www.pocketables.com/2015/02/sprint-htc-one-m8-lollipop-via-otaruu.html or form here http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-sprint/news/ and follow the instructions thereby.
2) May I at the liberty to install the Android Revolution HD ROM on HTC One M8 , available here : http://www.droidviews.com/install-android-revolution-hd-rom-on-htc-one-m8/
3) Will I loose, my S-OFF, Sim Unlock in doing above mentioned acts.
The snapshot of my device in bootloader mode is attached for your quick guidance.
Pl. help understand the above. Thank you all in advance.
Best Regards
Karan.
You can use the HK firmware from HTC USA website also. In fact I urge you to do this if you wish to use any Lollipop based ROM else you may face WiFi issues etc. It won't affect your S-off or anything. You can unlock your Bootloader also, in fact you should in my opinion.
I am using my 831c with ViperOneM8 4.3.0 which is reasonably stable to use as a daily driver.
I am using this with Reliance CDMA; no issues to report. You can find my guide to get rid of the annoying activation nag pop up. I'm traveling otherwise I'd link it here.
Edit: For CDMA in India or to get rid of activation pop-up, see here: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/3...-on-htc-one-m8-hk-non-hk-edition-from-sprint/

Dear Sir,
First of all thank you so much for addressing so soon !! I appreciate that though travelling you took the courtesy for it.
Well, my device is GSM its not CDMA, Sir, my query is related to Firmware, can I use this file : 0P6BIMG_Sprint_HTC_One_M8_4.25.651.14_RUU.zip - hooked here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173, if your answer is assertive I would go ahead with flashing in SD CARD, hope its not in contradiction with my HBOOT Version. Regarding unlocking Bootloader , Sir its already unlocked, do I need to do it again ?
Moreover, I would love to install the rom ViperOneM8 4.3.0, suggested by you as well.
Thank You once again.
Best Regards / Karan

Hi Karan,
Your Bootloader isn't UNLOCKED. Your device is S-OFF but at least your Bootloader screenshot shows that your bootloader is still LOCKED. Could be an HBOOT trick, I don't know.
Well, you may be using your device as GSM only but be assured that it can also be used for CDMA if you want (INR 824 for unlimited calling, text and 3G is an amazing deal with Reliance CDMA.. LOL) but let's get back to your question.
I'd recommend flashing either of the two firmware files listed below. Since your phone has a SuperCID, you can even convert it to the Harman Kardon Edition (I don't know how much better/ worse it is honestly):
1. Harman Kardon Edition ROM: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-harman-kardon-edition-sprint/news/
2. Non-Harman Kardon Edition ROM: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-sprint/news/
They have the same fixes, etc., as far as I know. The Harman ROM has some audio enhancements that you may or may not need.
And yes, finally to answer your primary question, you can use the firmware that you have mentioned as well, I think it corresponds to the no. 2 link that I have posted.
You will need to remove some files to get rid of the activation nagger though. It keeps popping up "Hands Free Activation" and that is very annoying!
Good luck!

Hello sir,
Now, today I tried couple of things as below: -
As advised by you, firstly I attempted to unlock the Bootloader by using the Hasoon's AIO 2014 Toolkit, I booted in fastboot USB, even successfully got the Token Identifier submitted on HTC Dev however when tried to submit the bin file the command prompt window say error no device found. ( Pl. guide as what is going wrong , this process was repeated twice by me - NO Success found) .
Secondly, downloaded one of the files we discussed yesterday, the files i.e 0P6BIMG_Sprint_HTC_One_M8_4.25.651.14_RUU.zip, renamed to 0P6BIMG, kept in SD card (8 GB / EXFAT formatted), to which the device started scanning as soon as I attempted to enter the Bootloader mode (i.e Vol Dn + Pw), while scanning it says No Image / Wrong Image/ ( Pain full).
Finally, I also had a downloaded file of (Android_Revolution_HD-One_M8_41.0_866186), stated to be a Kitkat 4.4.2 rom, now assuming that I have already unlocked bootloader, I performed Install after wipe / Delvick Cache/Data/System, it went through whole installing however after coming on 100/- without my giving the command of reboot the device get's power offed. Thenafter performing the Vol Dn +Pw also it didn't responded , then tried Vol UP+Pw, which gave me the option to into recovery mode (TWRP ver 2.7.0.2) where I had the Backedup file, which was restored and that is how I saved my life.
Now, what is really going wrong not able to sum it up, even trying to unlock BLDR, does'nt help, request you intervention / help Sir.

You have TWRP it means your bootloader is already unlocked. You can go ahead and flash viper rom. even if you relocked because you have s-off you can flash anything.
To flash the zip, you can try directly from cmd by going to bootloader and type:
1 - "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
2 - "fastboot flash zip pathto.....zip"
This will format the internal memory 25GB and remove TWRP and return everything to stock.(if its the 1.5GB zip) You will not lose s-off.
Note: ARHD may not work on Sprint M8
Dear Sir,
Thanks for replying. Just to share I attempted to update the H/K 1.5 GB RUU stock file and got the success, however lost my SuperSU app, also root has gone as tried by installing rootchecker, which didn't gave the positive result.
Now my query is, that will I have to follow all the process of unlockng the btldr from HTC Dev, installing TWRP latest one, will I loose the S-off , Sim unlock etc... I am looking to install a ROM which has the Stock FM app in it, may I request you to suggest if any that shall work flawlessly in India.
Best Regards/ Karan

If you install any custom sense ROM like viper or badboy, it will be rooted.
As for stock FM, it should be included in custom sense ROMs.
You will not lose simlock or soff by doing anything mentioned.
However some people(including me) get simlocked randomly, if it happens to you, you can do twrp backup, follow instructions to simunlock then restore backup again no matter what rom you were using.
