I would definitely suggest taking this update if you are stock, unrooted. My phone has been very very laggy recently, but since this update the phone is not lagging and the phone is also not having massive battery drain and heating up. I have reset to factory and reinstalled apps numerous times, but generally after a week or two it would always return to this state. This update so far has seemed a lot better.

I am on the same boat and hoping for someone to release an update.zip file of this.
My phone keeps attempting to download a 631MB update, then failing at 0% when the device reboots to install it. My ISP has a data cap, and this is going to cause me serious problems as the phone redownloads the entire update every day without any permission or acknowledgement from me. How can I disable or get around this?

Yes, it only attempts to download on my home WiFi, and my ISP has a monthly data cap where if I exceed their allotment I have to pay more. So after a week of 631MB downloads and failed installations every day, I'm at the point where I can't connect my phone to my home WiFi any longer until this is resolved.
I'm stock, Android 5.0.

You might be able to manually update it. Go to Settings>About Phone and post the last 3 characters of the "build number". For 5.0, it would be something like OC4, OF2 or OF3.
The update path would be something like OC4 to OF2, then OF2 to OF3, then OF3 to PA1. I have the OF3 to PA1 update file.

My understanding is that you need to have a lot of free space on your phone, something like 5-7GB. For example, if you only have 1.5GB free, it will error out.
Here's the OF3 to PA1 update file if you want to manually install it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65833865&postcount=125
Browse the earlier posts in that thread for instructions if you need them.

I am not sure why it is happening with but i am not able to install 5.0.1 (12 MB) update on my Moto X 2014. I have unlocked bootloader and phone is rooted running on 5.0 Lollipop firmware.
Baseband Version:
MSM8974BP_4125.184.08.27.01R
VICTARA_EMEA_CUST
System Version
22.21.19.victara_reteu.retailuall.en.EU retin
It downloads the update file.
Reboot the device.
Goes into recovery and show me that it's installing the update. Half way on the progress bar the phone reboots.
After booting I see message which tells me that System update installation is failed. It does not give an error message or reason.
I tried installing it multiple times but same results. Any help will be appreciated.
To add Motorola Device Software updater shows me that my firmware doesn't have any available updates. Whereas i am getting regular notifications to run system update.

You should be happy, i had exact same config, and had soft brick when trying to upgrade. I believe you can't do the update if you are rooted. So you must flash stock back and then update.

My phone keeps displaying that i have pending system update. What is the right way to get the update without bricking your phone?
After your update i am not going to try any workaround methods to force upgrade. But this is something that should be well explained by Motorola or Android community somewhere on internet. I think need to wait till the time more helpful resources are available.

I am facing the exact same problem.
I am currently on 22.21.19.victara_reteu.retailuall.en.EU and the update notification I am getting is for 22.121.1
I have an unlocked bootloader but the phone is not rooted.
I do not agree that OTA update doesn't work when phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. The Android 5.0 update got installed on my phone when it was already rooted (I lost root access after the update).
Still looking for solution for "OTA installation failed" problem though...

why in Settings/ About Device my BASEBAND VERSION and build number don't match?

I had this exact problem with SM-G890A on 6.0.1. I flashed a stock firmware, and I had no mobile network, sim card wasn't detected, etc. The problem was that my device had the most recent update (from March). I am not an expert, but I believe this update makes it harder for devices to be susceptible to flashes (hence "extra security"). To fix this problem, after flashing a stock firmware, I put my phone in recovery mode (volume up, power, and home) and downloaded ADP, and from there, I was able to download each update after my stock firmware until I reached the update that I was on before I ever flashed. I hope that makes some sense. There is a great post on here with the updates available for download and instructions on how to use ADP. I wish I still had the link, but try searching the updated version that you should be on. Whenever I finished the last update and my phone restarted, I restarted it again in recovery mode and cleared the partition cache. Restarted it again and VIOLA, I finally had service. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Sorry, I am not great at explaining things. I hope you can resolve this. [email protected]
Fixed and Downgraded
I had this same issue. I was able to fix it by first upgrading back to 7.0 as mentioned above, and then flashing ONLY the BL and AP files of the 6.0.1 firmware using Odin. Worked for me.
U need flash to android 6.0.1 build Pk8.

Hey I had the same problem as you and I was panicking. I downgraded to 6.0.1 from 7.0 final version but the SIM/IMEI/Broadband/anything phone related was broken. What happened was the final build of 7.0 upgrades the security of the SIM/IMEI/Broadband and so if you flash any other firmware, it won't work with the newer security and it'll remain unknown. To fix this, you have to upgrade to 7.0 final build again. Just adb sideload all the way back to 7.0 final QD1 and your SIM/IMEI should activate again. I guess ATT/Samsung is preventing us from downgrading just like Apple
Flash the Nougat Odin package.

Phone works ok, it feels slow at times. A reboot usually fixes it for a day.
I have my FIRST EVER UPDATE from the updater (B168). Should I do it? It says there are 2 patches: first one is entirely in chinese, the second one says a few things like add watermarks, fix UI issue, optimize startup, etc.

OTA = Over the Air. Official update delivered by Huawei. Go to Settings > System Update and check for updates.
FirmwareFinder = App to show/browse/download available and future firmware updates on Huaweis servers. Only necessary for those who flash updates manually.
In your case go to System Update. There should be an update. Maybe you have to do this a couple of times to reach latest Nougat-Version. Good luck!

Thank you. Perhaps I did something wrong.
1) set proxy to "localhost" and port "8080"
2) my model number was there, clicked it
3) went back to check settings: settings are (show packages for current region OFF, in app proxy port 8080, use simple OFF, show only fullOTA ON)
4) clicked first package (full OTA - MF)
5) clicked in app proxy
6) go to "updater" in settings
7) updater has package, click download and install
8) error "package checksum error." (immediately, before 1% downloaded).
Is it possible I need to not update the most recent one? I am still on android 6.0, EMUI 4.1 and like I said never had any other update OTA before (never used firmware finder). Thank you!
edit: restarted the phone, the package is now gone. Maybe I should do a different package, maybe an older one, not the most recent one?

Also why do I need this proxy port thing?

There is no option for B193. all of the packages are in the 300's.
The download finished (I think) but it could not install. It said I needed to free up some space. I uninstalled some apps and now it will not let me view the progress (I clicked new custom version, it just takes me back to my setting page). in my notification screen, it as EMU download percetnage at -930% and it is not moving. I tried restarting a few times it all stays the same. Current version still says B168.
edit: I clicked menu and then "download latest full package" and it seemed to have reset everything. Should I try this package again? To repeat, this is the oldest package on firmware finder, B361. I also noticed there are duplicates in firmware finder... and some of the packages are for L09,L19 and L29, these are all safe to download? Should I keep doing oldest 1 by 1?
Thanks again for your help, sorry I am so noob.

After you download the firmware extract it, download and install samsung drivers https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
Put your device in download mode by holding power+home+volume down and connect it via usb to your pc
Open Odin 3.12.3 and click on the 'BL' button, then choose the file that starts with "BL" inside your extracted firmware folder. Next, click on the 'AP' button and choose the AP file inside your extracted firmware folder. Got it
Thank you so much.
So now that I did this, I'll have the latest OS and android security patches for the phone?
Is there anything else I can do to the phone with modification to make it better?
