If you're in the UK and desperate to get your screen protected until something better comes along, I can personally recommend this product.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161994219563&alt=web
It is of the wet apply variety however what I like about this is it has very low friction (rubbery feel) under finger like some other I've experienced in the past. Seller is UK based. I collected from Argos the day after I ordered it.
I've had Zagg in the past and considering how much they charge this is somewhat comparable in terms of quality. For £4 it will more than suffice until (read if) a decent tempered one hits the shelves.

FYI I'm using the Samsung Clear View case absolutely fine with this screen protector. Obviously it's wise to let it fully cure (dry) before putting in the case.

I haven't installed mine yet, as received it yesterday. Chris_c81 did you have to wait until the flat surface is dry before sticking the edges down?

Perseverance to be honest. I found that the main screen piece held in place quickest. I squeegeed out excess liquid via the edges. Then started to work on the edges. Took a few attempts but eventually the edges held good enough in place. For several hours after while watching TV I used a combination of thumbs and fingers to smooth out any noticeable liquid. I also used a rubber pencil eraser to smooth out. Kept working on the edges too. I'm a bit anal about things like this so I kept at it until the whole screen surface was satisfactory to me lol. Next day it had cured fully.
Just found my first issue with these . Put in my pocket while I biked to work took out of pocket when at work and it had lifted. And also it's scratched like mad I know it's meant to protect the screen underneath but it looks awful. Also if it scratches in my pocket what's it going to do if it meets anything sharp. Think I'll be looking for something else. Gutted

Must've been chaffing on the phone quite a bit for it to lift! I can run my finger quite hard against the edge and no lift. I can see what you mean about the other issue though. I'm using mine with the Clear View case from Samsung so hadn't noticed. Ran my finger nail down the screen protector and it does seem to leave a little mark. It's protecting the screen so I can't complain too much plus you only notice the marks when angled in the right light.
As I say, for £4 - which is basically nothing - and quick UK delivery, for me I'm treating this as a cheap and quick method of protecting the screen until something better comes along.

Okay so after a month of having the Note 4 (SM910C) I took it out of the case and WALLAH! It had scratched like it was baby skin! The look was horrid and it bothered me so much! However I found an easy and cheap fix! I'll post before and after pictures below.
I'll be making a video tutorial shortly!
Basically, get a sand brick with a medium grit. Check the packaging to make sure it is safe to use on metal surfaces. DO NOT USE SANDPAPER AS IT BENDS!!! The brick is stiff with a flat edge so you can angle it on the side and not have to worry about sanding the color! Gently rub in a smooth left to right motion all around the metal edges. Do it SLOWLY! Take a good 5 minutes going around repeatedly to get the best finish! I'm a little busy rn so I'll post pictures of what my sanding brick looks like and links to where you can buy one soon!
Something like this would suffice:
https://www.google.com/shopping/product/16104652056673776253?es_sm=93&biw=1920&bih=995&sclient=psy-ab&q=sanding+block&oq=sanding+b&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.82001339,d.cGU&pf=p&sugexp=msedr&gs_rn=60&gs_ri=psy-ab&ds=sh&pq=sanding+brick+medium+grit+safe+for+metal&cp=9&gs_id=z&xhr=t&tch=1&ech=10&psi=wpeTVNmZKY6zogT9i4HYAg.1418958808255.3&prds=paur:ClkAsKraXyK7VDsNqZUb4sdERcFY_5DdiBcf5EsU74uLRGgoWZAgQyuBUxcFGD0Enm53DOvz9canAUV9g3oxoTTj7VOUsY27d13nS4_PyOJWYSgiOXk75UCJvRIZAFPVH72lSgi63qbiUg8a9IzJS7HTzsI4IA&ei=6ZeTVP-2DJTToATs44CQAQ&ved=0CMYBEKYrMAM
looks good...
I'm going to be doing the same to a friend's Note 4 tomorrow morning so I'll probably just have him shoot that on my Note 4 and use that as the tutorial
Nice, i did something like that on my htc one, turn out good, my note so far isnt as bad thank god
Sent from my Galaxy NOTE 4
Repeating the same process after a few months will totally take those shining edges out right?
Texted from Note 4
Any kind of abrasive removes material every time.
I suggest maybe only doing that once when you come to sell the phone.
If you want to use a method like this, take your phone down to a jewelry workshop and they can buff out any scratches you get on any metal surface, me and the wifes wedding rings look amazing when we take them to get done, no reason why the note 4's edge should be any different, minimal loss of material too so it can be repeated way after the phone has passed it's warranty.
Any polishing process produces either dust, paste or other residues, these need clearing away after polishing but not before they get a chance to get into the tiny gaps & arround button openings, jewellery polishing mops use a paste or powder as the abrasive medium which is washed off after.
Abrasive blocks are designed to wear away exposing layers of fresh sharp grit so those used particles with get into the gaps on the phone.
It's not really a good idea TBH
To the OP, what case were/are you using? Definitely looks like one to avoid! Lol
sent from my Galaxy Note 4 using Tapatalk
It's still shiny as it shipped so I don't know. I wouldn't recommend this as a common task, only when the scratches get elevated to a level where it annoys the bonkers out of you. I don't think it'll loose the shine
Pat. my case is a slim fit so I dont have to worry about that and I made sure to even the surface out. Crash_194 I use the Spigen Tough Armor series for the Note 4. Removing the phone from the case scratches it due to the case being such a tight fit in the first place. I have the white N4 so I take it out to clean. However for those of you with Charcoal N4's shouldn't worry!
I used sandpaper grit 2000 and the scratches on the chamfered edge are gone. But it's not that shiny anymore.
bro any update on the video tuto ?

Yes, especially if you live in an area of sandy soil. No matter what case you have microscopic particles will eventually get in there and scratch up the surface. I've seen it with a bunch of different cases.

Hi all,
Fitted my Flex HD protector (front and rear, pics below)... Rear fits great height-wise, but a bit short width-wise, not bad in general though... Quite good at applying these protectors and I got it without a single bubble
Front one though was a different story... It was my first ever wet-protector install and I'm not entirely sure about it. The fit is GREAT! Just not sure how well my actual application has gone...
Anyone installed this specific protector on this phone and able to offer any advice on whether the bubbles shown will work themselves out over a few days as it says they should? Doesn't seem to be any dust below, just bubbles
Thanks!
They'll go away. It took mine two days to disappear. the first day I saw a few and tried to move them out and by the second night I couldn't see any bubbles.
you can always take it off and re-install. The pray that comes with it does not work as well as a small bowl of water with a drop of dischwashing soap. Make sure your fingers are good and wet and they with some practice you should be able to get much less bubbles right away. I am a perfectionist and it took me 4 applications to get it perfect. I had zero bubbles as soon as I was done and it took about 1 day for the excess moisture to dry for a perfect application. No hair, dust or bubbles. Surpirsingingly, I really like how this SP feels on the phone, and I always have used tempered glass.
The good thing about a wet application is that you get second chances, unlike glass (at least i my experience)
good luck
Mine looked the same as your's OP, by the end of the night most of the small bubbles were gone. Really hoping the rest of them work themselves out over the next few days. Most comments I've read say they do, so I'm optimistic as I am a perfectionist as well. Can't stand the sight of bubbles or blemishes in my screen protector.

I see the orange peel effect and i have ordered this screen protector does the effect go away over time? is it a matter of stretching as much as possible during application with the card?
Thanks all
It seems that after about 12 hours it is looking a lot better, not quite perfect yet though
I also see now there are a couple of bits of dust (I made the mistake of putting it back down on the sheet after taking it off initially to clean the screen again)... Surprisingly though the bits with the dust aren't the worst bubbles, in fact they're not very visible at all
Will give it a few more days then maybe post some more pics for people to see what it is like
It took mine about a week for all the bubbles to work themselves out, but now that the did I can't even tell I have a screen protector on my phone. Really happy with the front protector!
I'm gonna have to redo it as it has dust from when I put it down
But yes the bubbles in general surprisingly are sorting themselves out
Anyone think their screen looks slightly yellowish hue after installing this? I don't recall how mine looked before so I'm really hoping this is so and it's not my actual screen. If it's my screen then I will be exchanging if because it's quite irritating. And it's perfectly white when I hold the screen at an angle instead of dead on.

After 2 days, all blemishes and bubbles are gone. I've had several people say they had no idea there was even a screen protector on until I told them. It feels like glass and doesn't have that rubbery feel to it like how some other "wet" application screen protectors feel. I also don't have any discoloration due to the screen protector either. I can honestly say I love how it looks.
I was very skeptical at first since this was my first "wet" application screen protector. I've always used the one and done "dry" application ones. The application process was very nerve racking with all that "solution" on my phone, and trust me I was with everyone else with how my phone looked initially. But after letting it settle for a few days, I can say I'm glad I went with this screen protector that wraps from edge to edge versus going with one that only covered the top of the screen. I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence :good:

YMMV, some people here claim it goes away but I frankly don't believe them. The orange peel effect is there and in full force even after a week. There's even a bubble that will not go away even though there is no dust underneath. I'm returning this one ASAP and I recommend against anyone buying it.

I don't think this is brilliant. Those "bubbles" don't look like they'll disappear. Looks like a defective screen protector. Did these ever go away? Wonder if others had the same problem and it is a result of a faulty batch

Here's my phone with the FlexHD on after 3 days
And I thought I did a good job. You sir are a master at installing liquid install protectors. If I were to place my phone next to yours it would look like ****, although I did install mine in the car, outside of best buy, on my lap, on a rainy day with no light, because I didn't dare put the phone in my phone or any where else for the drive home.
Oh well, good thing it came with 2 protectors. Can always try again.
OK chaps, after the reports of the Home Button being plastic (I am pretty sure it is) I asked ScreenKnight, one of the suppliers on amazon.co.uk if they would produce a screen protector for it along with some to protect the very scratch prone heart rate sensor/flash and the outer part of the camera lens. Well they kindly obliged...
I have not received mine yet as am currently working away until the weekend but will post a review once I have them in hand and applied. However I cannot see it hurting to add that little bit more protection.
I did test the fingerprint sensor with a screen protector over it (prior to my request) and it worked fine but you may need to re-train a finger or two.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CXHMUVO
Hope this helps a few!
Camera protectors sound good in theory, after all who wants the cover for the camera lens to end up scratched or cracked? However, they almost always end up in a degraded image quality. I would be interested in protecting the home button though, providing the protection doesn't interfere with print reading. Look forward to the review.
I did request that there is a hole for the lens, so only protects the outer part, I would never use a protector that covered the whole leans part.... but will report back once home at the weekend..
Also, from tests out there the camera is very scratch resistant anyway
I wonder how much money would the screen protectors cost, let alone the skill you would need to put these on perfect. I know I could do it, just worried about the rest who have a hard time putting on a screen protector!
I think putting these on will be very easy tbh, just line up one end, no room for bubbles etc. Let's hope I am not eating my own words soon lol
Should get mine tomorrow so we will see
I suppose the protector on the home button would be useful for raising it a little when a screen protector is applied to the screen.

no its fine wasnt a lot of money and i would have ordered it if i had seen it anyway. not blaming you in the slightest mate. if you have better luck i may try again as may have done something wrong will wait for your attempt first though
i can confirme it is horrible:
putting it on is easy, quality is horrible and most for the home button it is way too thick and fingerprint is unusable. removing it also leaves residue, worth a try for few bucks
Don't buy this.. I bought it and scratched the heart rate monitor trying to put it on. I have a ultimate shields camera covers. It came with the full body screen protector and it's brilliant. The camera protector has a hole for the sensor area so no loss in image quality.

My HRM got scracthed on day 1. I didn't realize it was cheap plastic so when brushing it off with one of my DSLR lens brushes it got scratched. I was surprised to say the least, but i never use it, nor do I even remember it being there so it doesn't matter to me.

The gap is necessary.
I think all 3 Zs can use the same one, a theory of mine, not yet confirmed.
Look at the other forums.
I too am ready to buy.
as i compared tempered glasses on ebay for Z and Z Play, the difference is upper part - they both have flash and front camera but switched between models

Incipio and Verizon (in the US) do a bumper case you can use with Moto Mods.
I use tempered glass, just that the edges are beveled and it will show a slight 'edge'. Same for other glass protectors.

Would you mind linking the tempered glass screen protector please? Based off what I am reading in the other threads it looks like the screen protectors take away a lot of the screen responsiveness.

I picked up a pair of Omoton brand tempered glass for $8 on Amazon. They are "meh" at best. First one I missed a spot of dust mid screen, tried to pull to reapply, and cracked the corner. Not totally unusual. Second one went on clean, but had 3 big bubbles - worked their way out after 3 days. Because of the 2.5d taper of the device screen, there's an unattached "ring" around the edge of the screen (maybe 2-3 mm wide) where the protector doesn't fully attach. Screen responsiveness is mildly diminished - rarely causes any serious issue, but missed touches/swipes do happen.
Tempted to pull and run naked, but it's tolerable for now and I like the added protection, since I don't have insurance.

Two pack. Screen responsiveness seems fine, and I'm happy that the screen is safe.

Does anybody know if there is a tempered glass privacy shield for Z Play? Like the ones that prevent people from seeing the screen when they look at it in an angle.

I just got my Sparin screen protector on my MZP, and I couldn't be more satisfied. It's a perfectly molded glass screen protector, and comes with a top notch installation kit and tools. Patience and applying in as dust free place as you can find are key.
I didn't even have bubbles to work out after applying, and the edges stared to stick after just a few times of pushing on them.

I was able to pry mine up, wipe off and put back on. Lol
Update l rinsed sticky side with distilled water, any caught under glass goes away in a week or so
Thanks to those of you who suggested the sparin screen protectors.
Got mine a couple days ago, and installed today. Definitely a slightly smaller coverage area than the Omoton I replaced. The sparin does give me a halo of unattached edge still, but it's smaller than the omoton, and most importantly almost nonexistent on the bottom edge - so hopefully won't hook on my pocket and peel up like the omoton.
Nicely packaged, good install kit. Install went fine - 2 good sized bubbles toward one edge initially, but they both worked themselves out after a couple hours.
Screen sensitivity is a little better than with the omoton protector, but still slightly diminished from naked.
Overall, would buy again.

I have just receive the second one.
Good:
- no halo effect.
Bad:
-Does not fit properly, the black part at the bottom is to big and it covers the screen
- Camrea and flash holes doesnt fit either, I had to sacrifice a tiny part of the flash in order to have the camera visible (not a big deal, flash works with no problem and pictures look good)
Here is a picture using a game as reference, on the right part, you can se I have 1228 coins, but in fact I have 12280 so... well a part is lost.
As you can see I tried to place the glass as closest I could to the bottom and you can also see the camera and flash holes, that part its really making me nervous because I really need that to be centered (despite it works great). I have a problem with that, maybe I´m crazy
Well.... for 3-4 euros I paid its not that bad but this glass its not for Z play. I dont know If someone tried on a normal Z.
oh! about the "feeling" its not as soft as naked or using the omoton but its OK (Im just an average user maybe someone find it worst than OK).
I wanted to try the sparin one but here on Spain I cant find it, only Omoton.
Sorry if i made any grammar mistake (I´m still learning! )
EDIT: Added game screenshot so you can see how much screen is lost, not much to be honest and now the navbar looks smaller! (you can see 100% the buttons and its fully operative, maybe this should go the "good" part )
Thats something I really miss from gravity box, making smaller the navbar, the centered clock and the traffic monitor. Im 100% stock right now.
@drvoje : Did you tried the first screen protector you mentioned? how does it look?

Like like that screen protector was made for the Moto Z/force, which have different bezel sizes on top and bottom than the Moto Z Play.
sorry for late reply, at that time that was best protector because it covers most of the screen and its not that expensive... i said that is made for z forse but it can fit at z play (ofc they are not same phones and its not 100% perfect but still better option then most of protectors - which have whole mic/speaker side opened)
now for camera glass protector, first of all i want to say when you install it it stays flat, you will never even notice its there
but when i installed it, dust was bellow and i did not do it right on first try, so now when i take pictures with flash turned on they become white...
now i ordered 2 more, and im expecting them to come soon, so i will install it again and i will let you know
there is no point to send you pictures because you will never know its there on camera
UPDATE for screen protector: I oredered this one, seems like best option:

In nearly a month a cloud ☁ is still there but getting smaller each day.
Update: got the glass protector from Sparin and it works just fine. You just have to re-enroll your fingerprints, but it works just as before, no extra pressure or time needed. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RZS5SJ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Found out after I purchased from Amazon (this one in particular: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RDCNWGK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Looking at the few other phones that have in-screen fingerprint sensors, it's a common thing. Haven't even seen any old-school plastic screen protectors out for the Z4 yet.
I bought the same ones without the black border and it's been working fine for me. I also got the phone 1 day ago and the screen protectors 5 hours ago so that could change in 2 days lol.
I can confirm these work from Sparin, and also have the correct cutouts for the IR sensors at the top: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RZS5SJ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use these without a problem.
AMAZON
(3 Pack) Supershieldz for Motorola Moto Z4 Tempered Glass Screen Protector, Anti Scratch, Bubble Free
ASIN B07RDCN4DL
(sorry, system would not let me post the link)
Didn't even have to re-scan the fingerprints (I originally scanned w/o the screen protectors).
I've got a Nillkin glass screen protector on mine. It's a bit slow but is works. I mostly use it for authorising payments rather than unlocking the device.
If you look at the moto website for the z4 in the fingerprint section / help, they have some that are "certified" by motorola to work.

That's a pretty slim list. I've had a tempered glass Supershieldz on my Z4 since day one with no FPS problems and it's not on that list. There are enough reviews on Amazon to see which ones work, which ones don't, and which ones are BS reviews.

Thanks. Yeah I noticed that myself. I have several in wishlist on there including the supershieldz and have read several reviews for screen protectors too. I'd like to have a small glass one for the camera.
I haven't been able to order a case or screen protector yet. I did buy a cheap silicon case originally for an apple iPhone 8+ and a one size fits all screen protector.
I prefer glass protectors too and have one on my S5. I had to get my phone through big red and I've been itching to debloat it using adb. It's just been hard to piece together what can safely be removed.
Have you bought or are you using a case? I really don't want to add a lot of bulk but since I use device when working outside a lot, I need to use a slim one at least.
On the other hand one dropped it twice on my bathroom floor's ceramic tile and haven't found a scratch anywhere even on the corners.
I'll make a post/thread with a list of everything I've debloated when I get home. Phones running great, and haven't had any issues so far. Debloated like 20 things.
Here's a list of everything I ADB debloated, the "not installed for this user".
Thanks man.

I, too, have had good success with this screen protector. The glass sensor takes some getting used to, but it is no more susceptible to misreads than the hardware FPS on my Moto Z Force.

Considering I'm in the Moto Z4 forums, it should be quite obvious what phone I'm talking about. Feel free to look around, there is a whole new thread that was made regarding the debloat. I can post a link for you if you need. ?
I must be confused...I thought this was an accessories thread. My mistake!
So back to screen protectors......
We are fortunate to have a flatter surface, as opposed to Samsung. I personally just decided to go back to film screen protectors. Matte finish looks fantastic.
Can confirm this one works perfectly https://www.amazon.com/-/es/gp/aw/d/B07RZHVB6T?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image
