Well I have a similar unit, and it plays those file types right out of the box using the "Videos" native app.
Have you looked into possibly updating to the Malaysk ROM? Its in the MTCB Development sub-forum...

Just wondering as our phones have a FM receiver.
Wondering if there is a app that receives the signal and converts DAB into audio.
Should be possible i would image as a radio signal is analogue anyway..
Don't want to use streaming radio apps.
As far as i know, DAB means Digital Audio Broadcast - if your device has a digital receiver built in, that would be possible. My HD2 has only an analogue radio receiver. I do not see a way that your request could be fulfilled...
memory serves me correct there is no such thing as a digital broadcast....
All radio waves are analouge?
So if the decoder could be emulated in software?

The analogue FM receiver in your phone can only receive frequencies from 87.5 to 108MHz and cannot even receive the frequencies used in DAB (174-240MHz).
If it was that easy, don't you think someone else would have already done what you suggest?
After all it would be one more advertisable feat of your Handset they would use to make you pay more money for it if they could.
lol forgot about the frequency range..
Cheers for input
Mods could you please close this thread thank you
Actually there is, it is called Wavesink and you can find it in Google store.
Unfortunately it won't work with my car player (It runs Android 2.3.4) Wavesink requiers Android 3 or newer, anyone know of a way to modify the Apk file so that it will work with earlier versions of android?
From what i have read you could modify the AndroidManifest.xml file inside the Apk but i don't have the knowledge to do that,
This programme will work with a dab Usb dongle connected to your phone, tab etc....

This is a no name GPS unit with wide screen using a SiRF Atlas V processor running at 600 Mhz. Never knew SiRF made general purpose or SOC chips with an ARM core.
Anyway, it's running Windows CE 6 as a backend OS (not sure if it's the embedded version or full blown), and I was wondering if anyone here thinks it could be hacked to run other navigation software such as TomTom for Windows Mobile.
The specs look quite good as a sat nav (20 channels, MP3, JPEG, FM), but I'm wary of the actual navigation software it uses because it's not really mentioned and could be crappy.
What do you think?
If it's running CE6 then yes, it's quite likely that you can get some kind of file explorer on there to install Tomtom...
I have a HU that comes with a CANBUS decoder. The CANBUS decoder comes pre-loaded with a config file that is made for a generic version of my car. Most functions work well. However, one key part of functionality is not working, and that is a commander knob (joystick). The joystick WOULD work if my car was a sport model (lower-tier model), but I have a higher trim model that had some extra features missing from the sport model, and because of this, the joystick doesn't work.
I would like to see if I can access the CANBUS configuration stored on the decoder or on the unit, and re-map the commands to match how it should be for my specific model. I plan to listen to the serial port on my unit and see what comes in when I move the joystick, and then line up the correct settings based on that.
Is this the correct way to go about this? Do I need to re-configure the decoder, or can I do all of this inside of the HU? How can I see how these settings are mapped?
I can't seem to find anything in this thread showing how to modify the CANBUS config, only on how to listen to the serial port to see what is coming in via CANBUS.
I also know it is possible to get joystick working on my unit because some russians have a vid of it all working on one of their units that is the exact same model as mine (AN-21U 2nd gen).
Any info helps. Thanks!
Hi,
I have a VW EOS from year 2009.
I had installed a MTCB unit last year and had upgraded to Android 4.4.2 which I found here on XDA.
When I use the music player in the ROM, and play mp3 files, I can see track number as "T5" and the position on the track like "00:03:05" on display under steering wheel.
But the name of the song is not displayed. Could this be changed by a configuration ?
Or MCU upgrade ?
Also, when I play radio, or other music player , no information is sent to the display. Is it possible to send radio channel or RDS information to the display ?
Can we also have information from other music players ? ( Spotify would be wonderful)
Last but not least; I had seen some other MTCB units which sent navigation information (like turn left in 200 meters) to the steering wheel display. Mine does not send this info.
Can I also enable this by config or update ? (I use IGO as navigation information)
Thanks.
I'd appreciate any ideas/suggestions , anything...
thx.
Hello, I bought a car radio of the brand BONROAD whose features are:
Bonroad 7 "2Din Android 7.1 Voiture Multimédia Vidéo Jouer Robinet PC Tablet Pour Nissan GPS Navigation Radio Stéréo Vidéo lecteur (No DVD)
Since its commissioning, the radio applications and Google play disappear and despite the manufacturer's rom, these applications appear and then disappear.
I find myself with a car radio that does not work.
I tried to install the applications in .apk but they do not open.
Do you have a rom or a solution please? I thank you in advance.
