Bought this device 3 week ago. Went for a train ride over a route that I used to use my Sony Xperia Z2. Using the same sim, I noticed the T815 LTE was constantly losing its signal both data (H+ etc) and GSM. I gave it a few week, just in case EE (TPO) was playing games with its signals and masts but no change was noticed. I had rooted the ROM but reverted back to stock, still with no change in the problem. I took it back to the Samsung shop where they replaced the tablet. The replacement is working correctly.

After 2-3 days of not messing with the phone anymore (flashing, putting root apps, etc) my somewhat alright LTE signal has now turned into 3G with no circle around it meaning it's connected to the network, but not actually getting data. It happened while I had the phone in standby for a few minutes, so I can't think of any one app that caused it. Reinstalled rom even after a full wipe.
The strange thing is I will sometimes get a faint signal of 3G which then dissapears within a minute. I did the latest OTA before I flashed my rom so I should have the newest radios and everything. I can't update profile either. My family is getting good signal so I know it's something with my phone. Any ideas?
Happened to me too..I re activated with Hands Free activation to reset the data connection to Sprints network..Only worked twice for me through out the day then the phone was just stuck in the same spot as yours (3G with circle around it). Nothing we did reset the data link to sprints network(cust. svs rep).I brought the phone back to where I bough it and they didn't allow an exchange unless they held the phone over night to test it..I didn't have time for it and everything i hear about the Triband set up Sprint is doing not allowing data while in a call and the growing pains of the network rebuild have worn down on me after 10 years so i had to return the phone and buy it on a network that allowed the phone to operate the way it was meant to..
When I first got the phone, it would hold an LTE signal much better than my m7. Then last night I notice LTE cutting in & out where it was pretty stable before. I check it was trying to connect to Band 26 which is 800 LTE. It might have been from a further away tower. This was the first time I have ever seen Band 26 in my area which is currently being deployed. The constant cutting in & out also drains my battery down. This has nothing to do with my phone but the towers which my home tower has been having issues since last July. For now I set my phone to CDMA only since I have wi-fi at home & work anyway I don't need the phone on LTE. Even when LTE was working on 1900 which was stable, the signal was still pretty week and would drain more batter than a strong 1X signal. Since LTE is data only right now, there is no reason to have the phone prefer LTE when wi-fi is on. With CDMA only it's not bouncing around all over the place.
I have prepaid 30/mo with T-Mobile. My phone had issues with 3G for some reason so I run on Edge all the time. Certain places in my house my signal drops but a foot over its there. I tested with my sisters phone, also a p880, and she has 2bars+ in those areas. She's running stock ics(maybe JB idk) and I'm running Omnirom KitKat. Any reason for my phone sucking? Any fixes?
Hello.
I bought my phone just 3 days ago together with my gf.
She bought the exact same phone and same carrier as me on the same shop..
Around here we are supposed to have good 3g signals all over, but not inside our house, there we can only use GSM.
Her phone works perfectly, with 3-4 bars gsm signals inside house.
But i get nothing when entering house. NO bars what so ever, (even if i pick GSM ONLY from settings).
I got to service menu and read "0 db" on signal.
I tried everything, Clean sim, restart phone, factory settings, changing GSM/3g/4g priority etc, and even tried MY sim in HER phone.
Its defo a hardware/software issue on my phone.
My experiences from 3g and 4g with this phone is that 4g seem stable and good, while 3g (outside my house) seem to often go from max to none all the time. jumps up and down
and sometimes leave me with no signal for 5 minutes until they are back.
I contacted the carrier to check and everything seems fine over there.
Any suggestion? Could it be really possible that i got a faulty antenna? if im going with my phone to the store for a replace they would probably not belive me or take my reason for real
EDIT: Have to add that the past 12 hours of constant trying to figure out the problem i had a few cases with signals while i was trying to switch to "gsm only" but they lasted for 5 seconds and were gone again.
Had the same, send mine back, saw in the log of the repair department that you refreshed the software. But will check
if they have changed something. Comes back in a few days from now.
My brother-in-law gave me an S5 Active (5.0) last week . I played around with it on Wi-Fi and decided to put my SIM card in and try it out for a while. I'm really trying to like this phone, but it's got some issues that are terribly annoying. The cell signal is terrible just about everywhere I am it seems. It's mostly stuck to 4G, but frequently switches between 4G and LTE. I came from a Lumia 640, and I had LTE and excellent signal everywhere the S5 struggles to even get 2 bars of 4G. My mom lives in a rural area and my 640 had LTE in several parts of her house while the S5 cant obtain a signal to save it's life, let alone it's battery. When it loses its signal or I switch on Airplane Mode to reset it, it takes forever to get a signal back, sometimes I have to reboot the phone to get connected again.
I would really like to root it and flash a different radio if that is even an option. But from what I've seen on the forums you can't downgrade from 5.0. I'd also like to change the DPI because Lollipop really knows how to make a 5" screen look small.. But doing this requires root also.
Does anyone else have signal issues like this with their S5/Active? Anything I can do to fix it? Btw, I'm on Cricket and my location is Southeast Michigan.
Alright, this is my first post over here in XDA, and I'm honestly don't know what forum to post on. Since this problem kinda started in my Galaxy Note 5, might as well take a shot in the dark and post it here!
Before, my Galaxy Note 5 Duos (N9208) was transmitting data back and forth flawlessly. One with 4G and another with H+ connectivity. Then, a few months ago, my phone's data suddenly became unusable! It suddenly froze up and I'm not capable of browsing the Web.
A few days passed, the data mostly came back to normal except for one key point. That is the fact that it can only access the internet when the icon beside the coverage is displaying "H+". Whenever it displays H, it won't work and it would be as if there's not Internet connection at all even when I'm in a place with full coverage. 4G is no different, the data came to a crawl to the point it would be plain unusable.
Thinking that something had gone terribly wrong, I sent my phone to the Samsung Service Center to check on the condition of the phone. They said it was fine, and the connections are all working fine. This got me thinking that my sim card(s) were the one at fault here. So I bought another sim card for my Note, and same result, the Internet of this sim also only connects at H+, not H nor 4G.
I then transferred one of my sim card to my spare Sony Xperia Z Ultra, which is itself not 4G capable so that's out of the question. But one of the symptoms from my Note 5 emerged, the Internet won't connect if it displays H, not H+. This made me think, is my phone infected with a virus and transferred itself to my new sim via sim infection?
TL;DR
- Galaxy Note 5 started having problems
- I sent Note for repairs but they said everything is OK
- I bought new simcard but still the same result
- I transfer one of the sim that was in my Note to my Z Ultra, same problems show up.
- I suspect a virus lurking on the cards
