Screen Mirroring to PC? - X Style (Pure) Themes and Apps

Anybody have a good mirroring suggestion? Got used to SideSync on my S5 and haven't found anything that works for the Pure. Don't even really care if i can control the phone through the PC just mirroring would be good enough. Tried everything from Teamviewer to AirDroid, nothing works. Thanks

Just to be clear you want to see and maybe control the phone from the computer. I use Vysor to do this. It is a Chrome extension and works nice for the couple of devices that I needed.

Thanks but was looking for a wireless route. I wonder if it's just a permissions thing and can somehow get Teamviewer to work? hmmm can't believe this is a hard thing to do now.

Vysor works with adb wifi.

BBQScreen I think it's faster...

I use Reflector 2 to cast my Android screen to my PC. For those of us that have to work with iOS, it works with that too.

does this work with smart TVs too?
I have a Sony Smart TV (non android - 2014 model). I am able to cast the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S5 to my Sony TV either directly through Screen Mirroring (natively supported by S5) or through my home network (to which my S5 as well as my Smart TV connect). This is again done natively without adding any 3rd party software or hardware.

Can't cast to Chromecast

I'm trying to cast my (Tab S2 9.7) screen to my Chromecast (v2). If I use the Google Cast app it sees my Chromecast, I choose the "cast screen/audio" option then get a warning that the device is not optimised, and when I continue nothing gets cast to the Chromecast - the tablet shows a "connecting to Chromecast" message which never goes away, and the TV/Chromecast screen remains blank.
If I use the Quick Connect option on the tablet it doesn't detect the Chromecast on the list of devices.
I'm running Android 6.0.1 (stock, unrooted).
Any ideas how I can cast to my Chromecast??
Google Cast works on my T810 using stock 6.0.1, so you must have a hardware problem. I'm assuming your connection to your router is OK from both your tablet and the Chromecast device because Google Cast sees the device. But to be sure, I'd re-install the Chromecast device on your network. If that fails, do you have another tablet you can use to test it? Or have you tried another HDMI port on the TV/Monitor? Or another TV? All I can say for sure is this isn't a general problem with MM on the T810 because I use it quite often.

Mine's an SM-T815. Anyone manage to Chromecast from one of these?
The Chromecast/TV setup seems fine - can cast from my phone no problem. Are you casting using the Google Cast app or the "Quick Connect" Samsung utility?

Samsung's Quick Connect connects via Bluetooth to transfer files. Google Cast connects via your wifi network and that's what I use. There is also a way to cast without a Chromecast device but I think that only works with Samsung Smart TVs.

Eh? According to this, Quick Connect uses Bluetooth OR Wifi to connect to devices including Chromecasts:

Maybe it's supposed to, but I just tried it and the only "nearby device" it found was "Samsung Cloud Print". Even with Bluetooth turned on. It doesn't even see my Desktop Computer, though it does show in my Bluetooth connections.
edit: I just had a chat with Samsung support and they are blaming Quick Connect not working on Google. Always the other guys fault.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe your Chromecast device is an older model?

Interesting....I tried casting to an old Chromecast v1 (in another room) and it worked fine. Then I tried casting to the Chromecast v2 again, and this time it worked. I hadn't tampered with the Chromecast v2 at all. So now it's working, but I have no idea why it wasn't working before....?????
Hi Guys, sorry to butt in here, but you may be able to help me with my new Tab S2 9.7 64G Lolipop 6.0 (I think its 6.0) that I got for my 70yo mum to play movies on her Sony 46" non smart tv with either the Google Chrome Cast or MiraCast. I purchased a few micro USB to HDMI MTH?2.0 adaptors, and non of them show an image on her screen. I don't want to go and buy the Samsung adaptor as its easier to change movies play and pause using VLC media player while sitting on the couch for her. Can any of you please tell me the easiest dongle I can buy to simply play movies wireless to the HDMI dongle in the back of the tv? Happy to go Google Chrome, but which model do I need? Thanks in advance guys!

The problem with HDMI/MHL dongles is that they are difficult to connect. Most of them will work if you have the patience to keep trying until the finally connect. But then, you are forced to leave your tablet within a few feet of the TV. I MUCH prefer a Chromecast dongle that plugs into the TV and uses your wifi to connect. Most TVs also have a USB port that you can use to power the dongle rather than having to plug a separate power adapter into a wall plug. Here is one on eBay that is only $17 whereas a "Google" branded one will cost about $40. You can even get cheaper ones if you are willing to ship from China.
The current software to mirror the tablet on the TV is "Google Home". But be warned, the picture is not "widescreen" or HD.

Absolutely go for Chromecast, the easiest and most reliable way to cast from any Android device to the TV.
Do NOT buy a cheap chromecast copy from Ebay, they do not work properly.
Pretty much everywhere is selling CHROMECAST very cheap at the moment in Black Friday promo deals.
Get it now while you can as the price will go back to normal soon!

How do I get Netflix to Display over Miracast Connection?

Hey Guys,
I've been using a 256GB Exynos Note 8 as my first ever Samsung Smartphone for almost a year now, and I've been really loving the extremely versatile featureset it packs. It has hands down been the most useful Smartphone I've ever had after over half a decade of jailbroken iPhones and just switching to Android on a OnePlus One back in 2014. So much so, I've literally been using it as a Pocket PC for most of my computing needs, relying less and less on my Surface Pro 2.
However, there has been one pet peve that just keeps getting in the way of me enjoying my Note 8 to the fullest; whenever I try to miracast Netflix running on my Note 8 to my Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor connected to a big screen (be it in my living room, bed room, or a hotel room), I only get audio and subtitles, no video Everything else -- including presentations, games and YouTube -- stream smoothly and very reliably from my Note 8 to whatever big screen I want, way better than even my Surface Pro 2 (1st party hardware). However, I just can't get Netflix to stream over miracast from my Note 8. Oddly enough, it works from my Surface Pro 2 with the latest Netflix app from the Microsoft Store.
Any genius out there have some suggestions on how to get Netflix working over miracast? I don't want them chromecast as they require their own internet connection instead of simply functioning via WiFi direct. Thanks in advance.
Try loading Netflix, then only starting the miracast?
Are you plugging this adapter into a TV at a hotel etc? Or is it your home TV?
The casting is something Samsung needs to fix its quite fiddly. If I'm casting to a TV I use Smart Things.
I think you should be running the app you're trying to cast from first. Then when you click the option it should recognise your MWDA.
I used to use my Surface Tablet to cast Netflix and it was a nuisance, so I gave up and plugged it directly into the TV and used a Bluetooth mouse.

Sorry for the very late feedback, for some reason never saw a notification in the XDA Labs app despite responses to my thread.
I just attempted this but all it does is still show a black screen with audio over Miracast, while the video appears on my Note 8's screen.

I tried it both at a camp/hotel and at home. Doesn't matter which TV I'm plugging it into, it's still the same end result; my Note 8 reliably connects over Miracast to it, but Netflix refuses to display.

Hmm, isn't that using Chromecast though? My Wireless Display Adapter doesn't show up when I attempt to add a device in SmartThings.

BUMP
The problem might be the MWDA. I never used one, I used a 3rd party display port to HDMI cable when connecting my Surface to a TV.
I cast apps from my Note 8 to my TV using Smartthings app. Or if you click the button which says 'button order' for your notification shade, there should be one that says 'smart view' I have successfully cast Netflix on my phone to my TV this way.

The MWDA works perfect and reliably for ANYTHING else, besides Netflix. SmartThings is casting via Chromecast in your Smart TV, that's why it works with Netflix.

That's exactly how I cast from my Note 8's screen to the MWDA, again, it works reliably with everything else but Netflix. The difference is it's using the Miracast protocol in the case of my MWDA, whereas the one to your Smart TV is using the Chromecast protocol (SmartView supports both).
Anyone else have any suggestions on getting Netflix to work over Miracast?

Chrome cast issue / Wireless Projection issue

My P30 Pro, my wife mate 20 Pro and my dad mate 20 don't have chrome cast option for whole device screen mirror. And the wireless projection not working at all. I been Google and seem to norm and no one seem to use this much.
App cast like Google photo and YouTube is fine.
Anyone facing issue like this as mine?

Yes, same issue here, the 'Wireless Projection' toggle brings up my Sony Android TV as an option but when i select it nothing happens. Within Youtube, Google Photos etc the cast feature works fine to the same TV. No issues with my previous Pixel or Samsung device.

Indeed. My old LG G6 and my dad Samsung chrome cast work fine. Guess it's huawei own issue in software?
What I found on my Sony Android TV, it will cast when you switch to wireless projection as "input" on TV, where you see the screen saying that it is ready for it.
On Samsung, it took few tries but the TV eventually accepted the cast.
The implementation may be buggy or not fully/widely compliant. Yet.
I suspect EMUI supports Miracast but not Chromecast when using that Wireless Projection action, which is a shame. You have to go through the Google Home app to chromecast screen content.
Hoping this is something Huawei could eventually add.
I am using my chrome cast and it is working fine.

Thank you for this. I'd been looking for a solution. I have a Sony Bravia XBR-55X900E and a Huawei P30 and couldn't get screen mirroring to work (although no problems with my Samsung S8). I'd seen that page on the TV by selecting the Screen Mirroring input but thought it was just a information page. Once that page is shown, I select Wireless Projection on my P30 and now the TV shows up for me to select it. (When I'm not on the Screen Mirroring input, I never see the TV as an option to select on my P30). I click on it and it connects. I wondered if that was a one-time setup thing and if I needed to select the Screen Mirroring input on subsequent connections. I found I do, so now I need to program a way to do that from my Harmony Remote Thanks for solving this for me!
Ignore this post, can't find the delete button.
Reading some ideas here I just came up with a method for Samsung 6300 series that seems to work:
- go to "connection guide" in the source menu
- enter to "mobile device" section and click the button that appears in it. Then the TV will appear in the devices list of the Wireless Projection in the Huawei phone. BUUUT still don't try to connect.
- Leave the connection manager in the TV (go to home, for example)
- now you can select the tv in the phone list and it will connect.
It worked for me twice. I'll have to test it more because I have the feeling the working of this wireless projection between Huawei phone and Samsung TV is a bit random. Hope it works for you.
Hi there,
I bought me a new TV some days ago with Android TV on it. It is a Philips 55 PUS 7304.
Everything works fine on the TV except wireless connection from my Huawei P30Pro.
I just don't see my TV when I turn it on. I even see the TV from my neighbour, but the Philips doesn't appear.
Somebody else got the Problem??
On my Tablet with Lineage OS the TV is there in a second and wireless connection works like a charm. On my Huawei P30Pro I can only stream inside of an app. I can send files to the TV, I can mirror my Netflix, Prime, Google Chrome etc. but I just don't get wireless connection ti run.
Please help me. What am I doing wrong?
Really nobody here with a Philips TV???
Does it work with a Philips with Android TV and the P30Pro for anyone?
I found that if you open up the Google Home app and find your chromecast in there there is a 'cast screen to TV' option - this works 100% fine on my P30 Pro.
As listed above, wireless projection only works if you find the 'mobile device' input of your TV.

Thats exactly what I wanted to test. Desktop mode seems to be a very cool feature but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know exactly why?
Is it really Wi-Fi Direct?
Really strange that such a big company like philips doesn't support this and nearly all others do.
@Nu72 This works for me too. But this doesn't support the Huawei Desktop mode. Otherwise I can cast my tablet too. This is a lineage Android one and it works without any google home.

Anyone tried the AnyCast M9 Plus to mirror their screen on TV ?

Hey guys,
So I have a 2011 Samsung Smart TV in my living room. Since it's quite old it doesn't fully support screen mirroring unless it's done via a HDMI cable. I say fully because Smart View works with certain Samsung apps like the Gallery, Music & Video player but it won't do the actual screen mirroring of my entire phone screen. Seeing how we got wireless DeX with the OneUI 2.5 update, I'd like to enable my TV to work with screen mirroring and wireless DeX. Has anyone bought the AnyCast M9 Plus dongle & used screen mirroring with it? What's the experience with it? I won't play games but will mostly use wireless DeX to watch online videos via the browser. Any input is really appreciated Thinking of buying the AnyCast M9 Plus but would be nice to hear how it works from someone who has it and uses or has had and used it.

Smart View Not Working

Today i updated to OneUI 2.5 and the Smart View function from the notification panel doesn't find my TV anymore. It used to work before. My TV is a 2011 Series 6 one. The 32D6100 model connected via wire to internet. I tried the Smart Things app and it found it as a directly connected device but sharing things from the app is cumbersome compared to using the Smart View toggle. Can someone on OneUI 2.5 please see if it works for them?
Worked for me. Sometimes I need to restart either tv or phone or both of them to connect again. Other then that it works great. I use wireless dex if cast doesnt work.

Weird. I restarted tv and phone and nothing. Actually my phone does find something but every time it's a different random device. One time it was a LG TV, one time a Sony, then some random projector. And if i try to connect it disappears from list. I'm connected to wifi and there's only one TV that's also connected to the same internet in my home. TV doesn't support miracast as it's quite old though so i can't use wireless dex or screen mirroring on it. Smart view could only show some content from the default Samsung gallery, music and video apps. Will buy an Anycast M9 Plus dongle and hope everything works with it.
