The Market app is happy to download the USAA app and attempt to load it, but it's always unsuccessful.
Any ideas why and whether something can be done about this? I'd really love to use this application.
As a 30+ year member, I wanted it too and got it to work once when I first loaded it, then no joy. Cleared data and uninstalled.
I just use Dolphin HD to go to the actual site. Works fine and goes to USAA Mobile without issue.
I was having the exact same trouble with the USAA app when my tablet arrived in the mail. I have found that the fix described in the following link will get it working for Vegan Tab 5.1 (and I would assume for any other ROM where the app is displayed but it will not install):

Please post back on here if you have any luck!
Works for me
The app works fine on mine, running VEGAn-Tab 5.1.1 and Clymsen's Kernel ver. 9.

That won't let you use the camera to make deposit, though, will it?

"Working" in the sense that it will install and run for you? The market fix just changes the search results, so I can't see how that would help with installation. I have no difficulty locating the app, nor in downloading it. The problem seems to be entirely on my tablet when installation is attempted.

Would you be willing to post a copy of the .apk you're using? One can easily be created using appack.
Pulled from my Titanium Backup
Here is the .apk, though in fairness it does not work on my wife's Nextbook2 tablet. It would be nice if CWM was loadable on it, it is a decent piece of hardware, even better with a decent rom.

Thanks for posting that. Unfortunately, I can't get it to sideload.
I haven't tried to load the market on mine so I can't install the app on the Tablet. My cell phone seems to use the google mapping GPS function with the USAA mobile app. Could that be whats causing the refusal to install? I know I had to enable it to get the app to install .

That would have been my guess, but michaeljwestii has it running on his g-Tablet.
I did try using location spoofing apps and tried installing it with the CyanogenMod 7 ROM that has functioning location service over WiFi. In neither case would it even install.
mine doesnt install either
I cannot get the app to display in market on my gtablet (running CM7 nightly or stable) and I cannot get android market from the web to push it my gtablet either. So I had my son install the app (version 3.3) on his epic and i side loaded it. Run just fine for me. What kind of error is everybody getting when they try to side load the app?

The standard, un-helpful "Application not installed" notification in Package Installer.
Maybe a kernel issue. It installed from the Market just fine on 4349 (1.2 kernel). When I downgraded back to 3588, it again wouldn't install.
Works on my tab...running Vegan Ginger.
3.3 version of the USAA app.

I have had that error in a couple of situations which I think does not sound they apply to your case but here were my solutions. One was To go into ROM Manager and have it fix file permissions, reboot, then try to reinstall the app. The other one was when I already had an older app installed and tried to install a newer app. I used Titanium Backup to force uninstall the older app and then exit Titanium Backup and install the newer app. For some odd reason the older app did not show up in market.
I had the USAA app installed at one point. I was able to use FakeGPS app (from android market) to manually set my location, but that was only required for the mobile check deposit function (which worked!). All other functions were working without that.
I'm now having trouble finding the USAA app on the google market, on either my Viewsonic Gtablets (one Brilliant Corners 1.2.1, other is TNT lite, 4.4). I lost the app when reformatting my tablet. I did the market fix, although not clearly different markets (is there a way to tell?). Anyone else able to find the app? Guess I'll try to sideload from the link above.
Hi,
I am so disappointed that none of the banking apps are working on the One. I am trying to use HSBC & Barclays none are working. I don't have this issue on Nexus 4.
Did you guys come across this? Any solutions?
Thanks
Barclays works on mine, havent tried any others.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Thanks, I will reinstall and try again.
The natwest app works but the Santander UK app doesnt work yet
HSBC doesn't work. First Direct works great. Don't know about others.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I've only tried the HSBC one and, as others have said, it doesn't seem to work properly which is disappointing.
The Nationwide (banking) app doesn't work.
The Capital One (credit card) app works but won't show all data.
The Halifax (banking) app does work - but it's a hybrid (web) app as opposed to a native app.
I'm pretty sure that some finance apps are accessing the IP stack without using the standard Android settings as they won't work when you setup a proxy (Nationwide app included) - which may explain why there are issues.
Thanks guys for the feedback, I hope there will be a fix soon as these are very important.
As I said most annoying is that these work on other devices so it must be something to do with HTC.
I know I'm rooted cause I deleted a bunch of google apps from system but I still cant get Adaway to work.
It says it updates fine and I reboot but I still got ads.
Anyone else?
Works fine for me, do you have the web server running?

Are you using the most updated version 2.9.2?
+1 to what 2swizzle said. Use 2.9.2, latest SuperSU (2.36), check if your hosts are enabled in AdAway.
have the latest versions...ill try and use the webhost option and see.
thanks
2.9.2 works fine here
Use adfree. It works.
does not block ads in youtube for me
Adaway doesn't block ads in YouTube for me either, but everything else works fine.
Make sure "Reduce data usage" is turned off in Chrome.
I'm pretty sure you have to use the Xposed module YouTube Adaway to block ads on YouTube. But since Xposed doesn't support ART, no blocking of the ads on YouTube.

Hello,
I am getting airpush like ads periodically on my Chroma ROM. Clicking on the opt-out link takes me to tracker.tpc.re page isn't available when trying to opt out.
Tried uninstalling every possible applications that were installed recently and also the ones which might contain ad codes. Tried using Airpush detector and opting out of Airpush.
Let me know your suggestions.
I'm on stock rooted so can't help with Chroma. I run Adaway with the MOAB ad blocker add on. Never seen an ad on anything.

I don't think it has anything to do with the ROM. Guess some app is causing it. I wonder if there was a way to find that app.. Like long press on a notification reveals the App. But this floating AD doesn't do that.
I am also running AdAway and am rooted.

rom toolbox pro has a menu that will tell you what ad host are in apps. its not foolproof and occasionally misses some, but maybe give it a try.
btw, its located under "dns changer" on the first menu screen.
I have had good luck with AdOns Detector. Free I the play store.
Hi everybody, i used to use adhell until the dev took it down, now disconnect pro is subscription based which is too expensive.
Is there any alternative that uses Knox to avoid the need for root?
Thanks!
Block this!
I use Samsung Internet with the adblock plus extension which works for blocking ads in browsers.
Adhell 2 is up and running on the Note 8, been using it over a week with no issues.

I tried it a few days ago and it rebooted and once back on kept crashing Touch Wiz. I had to uninstall it as it made the phone unusable. Currently using Blokada which has been working great.

thanks for the Blokaka mention. just installed it and it works perfectly. found an ad-ridden app to test it on an it was great.
my favs two ad-blocking apps (via VPN and non-root ) are DNS66 and Blokada
Another vote for Block-This. I used it on my S7E and am using it on my Note 8, both unrooted Verizon phones. Works awesome. But you do have to tolerate a notification icon for it. Small price to pay, IMO.
I used to use Disconnect Pro. Since it's yet to be compatible with Note 8, I've been using Adguard premium. It works like a charm. I love how it cleans the page.

I use Adguard Premium whenever I get a new phone before root. Works pretty well but I've only used it for 2 days on my Note 8 & only 1 day on my Note 5.
Only thing is I hate that there's 2 permanent notifications that you can't get rid of when it's enabled.
Block This! has been pretty hit/miss with what gets through. I've added my Adaway lists to block this but it's not all that great. I'll have to try the other mentions.
I tried Adhell2 but it just constantly reboots my phone. Soft reboot too, I don't see the boot logo, just the "enter your pin to continue the boot" thing.
For web browsing I've just been using firefox with the ublock origin addon. I don't have any suggestions for apps (most of the ones I use are paid and don't have ads)
These apps are not in the play store right? Could you guys post links, so I don't inadvertently download a malicious apk? :highfive:
I got really excited about Blokada until it said it has to be set up in Android as a VPN service. I already have a VPN service, IPVanish, and Android won't run them both.
Hello
I've tried every VPN based adblocking apps like Blockada, Block This, DNS66, Adguard, etc.
The one I use now is DNS66 with custom DNS filtering than filtering with the hosts file.
To do this, Install DNS66 and open the app. Go to "Hosts" tab and disable filtering there. Now switch to DNS tab and deselect all the DNS there and add the Adguard DNS addresses. They are as follows:
176.103.130.130
176.103.130.131
Enable the newly added Adguard DNS and switch the Custom DNS filtering button on. Now go to the main Tab and click start.
I've found this method to have very minimal battery impact compared to the others. And also, there is no slowdown of the internet speed. :good:
Enjoy!
New Version v1.14 of "Disconnect Pro" is out which works with Note 8
But it costs $25.99
It's available via Galaxy App Store.

Can confirm working again. I was lucky enough to get Disconnect Pro when they had a free offer a while back

Yeah, that's annoying, but I find that it does wear down my battery (especially while on standby) far more than I'm comfortable with.

Any concerns in regards to the actual app having so much invasive control over your device?

Not really. But it has stopped blocking Ads on my device again. I'm using Blockada now. What I liked about Disconnect is that it's not VPN based, so I can use another VPN to get around the internet restrictions in Indonesia at the same time.
