Cheap durable case - Desire 816 Accessories

Just thought i'd chime in here for those looking for a decent case. I ordered this awhile back and am rather happy with it. Been dropped a few times and it seems to hold up well. The case for clipping your phone to is rather nice as well. The screen protectors rather cheap, I still put it on, but it scratches pretty easily. The pens so, so. The kickstand I havent really used much, i get the feeling the more i would use it the noiser and looser it will get, but it may surprise me. Overall great case for price.

[Q] Otterbox or Speck case?

Which case is better? I'm looking for one that doesn't scratch the phone.

Otterbox makes some good cases. My dad has an Evo with the otterbox case for it. It feels pretty damn sturdy.
I, however, have the Speck Pixelskin case for my HD7. Feels just as sturdy and IMO looks better (not to mention 2x cheaper). Doesn't scratch the phone either. I've never had any hands on experience with the Otterbox case for the HD7 but all of their commuter cases have the same or close to the same build quality.
Here are some videos on the two (if you haven't looked them up already). You decide.
Speck:

Otterbox (Couldn't find an english review but you can still judge by seeing it):

I've also heard that the Speck Pixelskin HD lifts the edges of screen protectors. And I'll definitely be getting a Zagg screen protector, and I'd date for it to come off because of the case. Is that the case with your Pixelskin?

Hmm I never heard that. I wish I could tell you but I never install screen protectors on any of my phones so I really don't know. In my mind it wouldn't really make sense because the case wraps around and overlaps the screen by a tiny tiny bit. Ill see if can attach an image of what I mean. Also, those Zaggs stick on pretty strong. Don't know if the case would effect it...
Sorry for the bad pics, but you can see how the edges overlap a little.

Your speck pixel case looks much nicer than mine ^
Mine makes my camera button press down WAY too easy. i have a new unit of the HD7 after everyone complained about the bottons being hard to press and it stick out more so they press down too easily with the case on lol. If you want to spend the extra money definitly go for the otterbox since it has its own screen protector and covers all ports so your phone will be much more protected.
The commuter comes with a screen protector you apply it is nothing like the defendor with a plastic Sheila molded to case. I found the screen protector you get with otterbox was pretty much the same as I bought on eBay 5xprotector for a buck.

Not a fan of the otterbox cases, too bulky and just look ugly, i use the speck candyshell, looks sexy fits nicely, got it from amazon for 25 shipped.
Otterbox Commuter FTW!! Love mine. I had a defender on my 3GS it was pretty bulky. My girlfriend has the defender on her iPhone4 left it on the car, flew off her car going 60 on the freeway phone survived. No shattered front or back. I think Otterbox cases protect more than the others.
if you want bomb proof than otterbox hands down, they look great in a bulky military style device way. If you want sleek and looks then speck.
My Gf has an otterbox and has dropped it many times lol it really is indestructible.
Loving my Speck case!
One of the other posters commented on how the case makes the (camera) buttons more easy to press.
That is one of the reasons why I like the Speck case - it makes manipulating the power/sleep button much, much easier. And, unfortunately, since there exists no reminder apps for missed calls/SMS/etc., one must manipulate the phone quite a bit if you don't keep it nearby (AND you're an I.T. guy often on call!).
To combat the problem of the volume controls being pushed too easily, I just shaved, with a razor, the hard rubber of the button to a protrusion of my liking.
The face of the case seems to have been intentionally designed to keep the glass off surfaces when the phone is placed face-down. If the phone were worn in tight pants/pockets, I could see where the case might be pushed back by the "lips" of the case, thus exposing an edge or two of the screen protector, OR snagging an edge as the side of the case returns to its designed fit. I've worn the phone in my pockets quite a lot in the past 14 months and have not had an issue with the screen protector.
Still, LOVE the case. I've only seriously dropped the phone once (in a parking lot), but the case protected it nicely.

Nillkin/Incipio Feather/Case-Mate Barely There Cases

These cases look amazing and I'm interested in to getting the Nillkin one which is made for the i9023 Nexus S, but is it really just for looks? I don't want to get this case if it doesn't protect my phone from a simple drop while walking on the street. I've watched and heard many good reviews about how the case looks and feels, but how good is it protection wise? Thanks.
It's common sense that a case is there to protect the phone. Even though in this case (pun intended) you cannot expect it to offer the protection of some other bulky alternatives, it's still better than nothing. As long as the sides protected by the nillkin hit the ground first I believe you should be ok.
I ordered it about a week ago, should be here in one or two weeks and I'll be able to provide a more hands-on opinion.

Ehh.. Can't resist the temptation. After reading some more reviews from the G2x Thread and the Nexus S post I think I'll get it..
I've always been a fan of rubbery/TPU cases myself. Most hard cases I've used in the past pop right out when dropped and those "light" hard cases don't protect your phone on all sides.
Dunno, just seems a bit light on the protection in the end and more expensive than TPUs.
I really like this incipio feather. Its hardly noticeable.
OK so my Nillkin case finally came. I didn't expect much since in the past I bought some other products made to look like other product (ripoffs). Thought this was the case with this and the Incipio Feather. I'm happy to say that it I was wrong.
It adds very little bulk to the phone, and has a snug fit. It feels much better in the hand, due to the rubbery finish, and the cutouts are exactly where they should be.
The screen protector bundled is acceptable although as I was previously aware, due to the curved screen there is a small gap on all sides and the top and bottom does not stick very well. There probably are are better ones out there but I'm happy with it.
I'm not into the habit of dropping my phone so the minimal protection it offers is enough for me. If you are looking for a case to withstand minimal impact, prevent scratches an look awesome I do not believe there is a better alternative for the i9023.

I've been using a Incipio Feather and I'm loving it!
Hey, do you have a link for that Nillikin case? Bc I went on their website and I didn't see anything.

Look around on obostore.com. I decided last minute that I wasn't going to get this case, but get the silicone and TPU cases from Nillkin. Anyone have either of them(Nillkin Silicone/Nillkin TPU)?
Got a Nillkin lately which is OK. Wondering though how does it compare to Incipio Feather in terms of thickness. Which one makes it more bulky ?
BTW, wondering any frame cases for NS...
Quite like the look of the Case-Mate. Seems like a good balance of protection without adding to much bulk to the device.
The thin cases like these really do help... although they look skimpy they have saved my Nexus a few times. I dropped it down the stairs the other day and not a scratch. If it didn't have it on there I don't know how smashed up the back would have been...

Case Suggestions

Just got my phone back from getting the screen replaced and need to find something to put it in to keep it safe! Any Suggestions?
Original HTC Desire HD Leather Case
Hi there,
when I got my NS i went to the nearby Electronics Shop and tried the cases they had. The Original HTC Desire HD leather Case fits very well...
do you have the i9020 or i9023? Any type of case you have in mind?

I really like the cases from this thread. Picked up two of them.

The Incipio Feather Case is nice. It doesnt add much bulk, but still protects well.
Why not get a good screen protector and then run without a case. When the battery door gets to the point that its no longer attractive or you want to sell the phone buy a new battery door cover. A new battery door will cost you $7-$12 on eBay.
My Nexus has survived wars and it still looks good w/o a case. Like ^ this guy said, screen protector would suffice. I hate that extra bulk in my pocket.
I've got the trident aegis black-on-black for my NS4G (which I've had since last august) and think it's great. I had never been a "case" guy, and always kept my phones bare, but this phone was just waaaaaay too slippery. The smooth plastic back is one of the worst features of this phone and makes it really hard to hold on to if you're constantly juggling stuff in your hands and on the move. I dropped it a bunch of times in the first few days I had it before I just caved and ordered this case.
It's a two-piece case with a silicone full body case that covers the whole phone, and then a hard plastic outer shell that kind of clamps around the silicone.
The silicone part is supposed to absorb shock when you drop it, I guess. It has tabs that cover the headphone and usb ports, cutouts that are perfect for the camera and speaker, and mic, and is a bit thicker on the corners, which gives me some confidence and makes me think that they thought the design through well. I've dropped it a bunch, and watched my 1.5yr old son throw it to the ground, and no probs.
The plastic part wraps around that and is supposed to be good at reducing risk of damage during "crushing" impact. All I can say is that I actually shut my car's trunk on this phone accidentally and it was absolutely fine. It gives it gives it a sleeker feel and minimizes the "ruberry-ness", too.
It also comes with a clear screen protector that is fine, and I don't even notice. Since the screen is curved most people complain about the fact that screen protectors don't stick well on the edges, which is true, but the lip of the silicone case on the front covers this area, so you don't even notice it. I also don't notice a difference when using the touchscreen.
The silicone part does collect lint, so if you're OCD about that, it'll be annoying, but the protection makes it totally worth it for me. I'll gladly pay $30 for a rock solid case that collects a little lint rather than get insurance at $7.99 x 24 months = $192 over the contract. The one thing that's important to know if you use multiple batteries like I do, is that you have to put the silicon section into the hard plastic section first, pop all the buttons out of their holes on the hard plastic case, and then push the phone into the case. If you try to put the rubber part on the phone first, and then put the hard plastic on, the fit is so tight, it's tough to get the buttons to pop out. It was pretty frustrating before I figured this out, but now it only takes me a few seconds to do a battery swap. Finally, the case does add some bulk to the phone, but I personally don't think it's all that bad. The phone feels more solid in my hand and is much less slippery.
I've been meaning to write a review for this phone in the proper thread, but I don't like to review stuff unless I've really used it. So I pretty much forgot till I saw this post. Maybe I'll go link to this post in that thread too, but if you want pics, I remember seeing them in that thread, and in threads over on androidcentral or androidforums or something. Good luck with the case search.
I grabbed the Ballistic case for my Nexus. It's pretty rugged, stays on very well, and comes off easily when you want it too. Feels very solid in your hands.

Cheap case?

Hello has anyone managed to find a cheap case. Am not after anything flashy. Just need something that can protect the camera when placed on the surface, table etc. If you have found something please share.
Here you go: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...edge+case&sprefix=galaxy+s6+edge+case,aps,342
Soft TPU back for $4.49 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0109Z0USC
Hard plastic back for $5.39 http://www.amazon.com/EasyAcc-Transparent-Protector-Shockproof-Resistant/dp/B00XN2RWY4
I'm using this $6 case: http://www.amazon.com/Leesentec-Squared-Samsung-Resistant-Absorption/dp/B00WNTIYV8/
plenty of them on ebay, just get a cheap tpu
come here http://www.cowcow.com/custom/hardenamel
and use this code for 1$ phone case.
Phonecase1dollar
Have no idea what price would be the one for you ? $1, $5 or less than $10 ? Anyway, S6 edge is a high-end device and it's no good to have it protected with a $1 which seems cheap and poor, no sense at all..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201368426957?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT $2 ( clear view, cheap, get the job done)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251865009225?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT $12 ( better protection)
diztronic makes a great case. been using for years and provides great drop protection and also allows use of headphone jack without removing case.
I just bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V44OZ6G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
So I have been using the case I mentioned above for a few days and I am happy to report that this is a great case. It feels solid. Once I put the phone in the phone stays and doesn't move. Edges are easily accessible and the phone wont slip out of your hands. Overall the case feels very nice. I am not sure about actual protection, but thevmain point was to get something so the phone would be less slippery. So far the case does what its supposed to do.
Is this one cheap enough? http://www.amazon.com/S6-Edge-Case-Galaxy-Designed/dp/B016BSC2EQ
Bought this one for under a dollar
Love the protection that is also on the edges of the camera. Still using it since july 2015
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-Soft-Si...967985?hash=item4aef18ecb1:g:yhEAAOSwMmBV1X8O
I'm using the Hama Crystal Cover.
The phone fitts better in my hand (more grip).
S6 Edge awesome case.
Just wanted to put this out there. I have a unicorn beetle case for my edge. I am a dropper. I've dropped my phone a thousand times. My phone bounces when I drop it. The edges of the case stick out farther than the screen and camera, and is rubbery, so it bounces, and the glass parts never touch the floor. It will only break if it lands on something sticking up, or hits a corner, or something like that. I've tried not to drop it, but I drop everything all the time and it's really aggravating! Get so angry at myself. Point is, I figured that I'm 41, so I should adjust to my clutsy self. I'm gonna drop stuff forever apparently. I paid around $25.00 for it, but it's great protection for this pricey phone. Kinda resembles an otter box. Doesn't block the edge screen either.
try this
I m using this one.

Maybe you need a Tempered Glass Screen Protector, too.

Ah great... someone with 1 post asking me to buy their stuff.

(Review) Artech 21 [Vivid Arkansas Series] Ultra Slim Dual Layers

I've had this case a few days. It comes in two pieces, a slip on rubber type piece, and another plastic that slips over that. At first I felt it was a little loose, but I apparently wasn't fitting it completely correct. (I don't like to read instructions.) As soon as I picked my phone back up, I immediately noticed I didn't have my phone slipping in my hand anymore, felt comfortable about setting it down metal, other glass surfaces, etc. Later in the night of day one, I dropped it when I was getting out of my truck, straight into gravel. Checked the device expecting scratches, on something at least. Nothing... case didn't even have a nick. This case doesn't seem like much at all, it feels slight thin to be able to protect the device, but then in the act, it exceeded my expectations.
So overall, I would recommend this, especially if you're looking for a cheap case that isn't made in cheap ways. You get what you pay for with this, not a flimsy version of what they promised.
Style= Not 100% my taste but even in the duel red/black color combo. I still like it though.
Protection= It will take a fall, didn't want to really test that factor too much. I don't have a extra Note 5 laying around. I did accidentally drop it a few times. It didn't even damage the device or case at all.
Dislikes= The only thing I slightly don't like about the case, is once you put it on, it is very hard to find the buttons, even after you get used to it. They're super smooth. Making it feel like they're part of the case.
I'm giving this my approval. Definitely will look into their better cases in the near future.
This is the exact case I've gotten. I hope this helps anyone looking into purchasing one for their device.
