Rooted Kindle Fire - Not Downloading on Google Play Store - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted Kindle Fire's in my classroom (because it was the cheapest way to get devices in the hands of my students!) but at school I cannot download apps from the Google Play Store (Appstore works fine). I used Root Junky's Super Tool and I'm wondering if there's something with how it's running that is causing a security issue with the school's wifi, as I can download apps at home.
I can use the school's wifi (with cellular turned off) to download apps from Google Play Store on my phone.... so I'm not sure what the issue could be.
If so, how would I work around this? Since most of the apps I use are from the Play Store and it's really cumbersome to have to bring them home for installs/updates, etc.
I rooted them myself but am generally clueless about how things work. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Hi, Try with a free VPN service such as tunnel VPN ; that way you can determine if it's a network issue or permission issue.

So, after I dl'ed a vpn service it let me download... So what does that mean? The network is blocking it? If that's the case, why would it work on my phone with the cellular data turned off?
My next question is, how much trouble could I get dl'ing a vpn service on all of them and using that when people want to update/dl apps? Is it trackable?

[Q] Tether Kindle via Bluetooth to Phone?

I've been looking at trying to tether my Kindle Fire HD to my cell phone via Bluetooth. I can tethering enabled on my phone via WiFi but it drains the battery rather quickly. Looking around, it appears that are several apps out there that do this (BlueVPN, FoxFi, etc) but none of these are on the Amazon app store (anyone surprised? no? me neither...). Any ideas on how this might be possible given the lack of a Google Play store? Also I thought about seeing if I could sideload it after purchasing the app from the Google play store but thought there'd probably be copy protection on the apk or something that would prevent that?
Resolved
Just wanted to post that I got this working in case anyone else is interested!
I followed the directions to root the device and then installed the Google Play store. I was then able to download the BlueVPN client on the Kindle via the Play store. I am now able to stay connected wirelessly as long as I have my cell phone on me without draining the battery like mad. Yay!
I've downloaded FoxFi on my android phone and setup a wireless network that is broadcasting my personal SSID. It's encrypted so I am the only one that can connect to the WiFi. I can then connect my KFHD wirelessly. Once I am done I stop the broadcast of the wireless network on my phone. The next time I start FoxFi on my phone, the KFHD automatically connects since I keep the wireless SSID and password the same. I haven't seen any issues with my battery life being quickly depleted on my phone or my KFHD
How did you root your kindle??

I installed BlueDUN to the phone and BlueVPN to the Kindle, both from the Google Play Store (Kindle is rooted) and it works perfectly!

[Q] Google Play not in Caribbean region?!

I have tried to install/access Google play on my KF for days without luck. I just noted that I cannot access the internet site of Google Play on my computers, not even company computer @ work. I guess they can read the ip and then automatically blocks it. My residence is in the Caribbean. Now I tried to access it on somebody's else computer (Europe, via logmein) and it seems to work over there.
Does anybody have a solution for me?
Help is very much appreciates

profgokker,
Unfortunately this is a common occurrence with Corporate networks, they block anything that may be
used to download software, games, music and movies. Google Play Store would be tied to all these
topics. If you can not access Google Play Store through your Web Browser, then it is true that your
company is blocking Google Play Store. Google Play does work in the Caribbean so if you have
internet access at home you could use Google Play at your Residence. Sometimes you can use
a Proxy Server to get through the network but many Corporate Networks sense Proxy Servers as
well. It is best to try and make this work at home, not your office since playing with Proxy Servers
can get a person terminated from the company.

Apparently the Caribbean has lost the License to obtain google app store. thats why you cant open it neither in your android or you PC.

[Q] Found Kindle Fire, are they tracked?

So a guy from work found an iPad the other day and when he tried to use it apparently it was tracked and now he's being charged with theft. Can the Kindle Fire be tracked the same way? I found one and I'm just wondering if I should even try rooting it or connecting it to the internet. I didn't steal it, there's just no way for me to get it back to the owner seeing as IDK who that is. No point in wasting a perfectly good device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You should be fine. iOS has that tracking app and combined with Cloud, allows you to track the device through Internet. Kindle devices have no such app, although 3rd-party apps from the Play Store can also do this. As long as you've got no such app installed, it's safe.

Alright so I did a factory reset on the device, but it still wont let me register it. Am I going to have to root it in order to "unlock" it or is there another way?
You don't need to register. It only allows you to connect to Amazon services. You can import your own media and still use it just fine. Or root and install CM10.1, then you don't need Amazon at all.
As I know, Amazon can make it "disabled", so you cannot use it if the owner reported it as lost.
Only the way you can use it is flash 2nd bootloader and TWRP, then flash CM10.1.

TunnelBear(VPN) doesnt play good whit Chromecast

I changed my VPN provider(UnblockUS) because it wasnt working on some sections of GooglePlay (cant buy and watch movies(region lock)) but everything other was okay.
Now im using TunnelBear everything is fine but, when i set VPN On it connects to TunnelBear servers. Then my Chromecast dissapears from list of devices(in Chrome browser PC only). When i turn off VPN Chromecast device is back in list.
On other devices like my Find 5 or iPad 3 while connected to Tunnelbear VPN shows my Chromecast device fine.
I tryed to bridge soft adapter(TBear thing) to my LAN adapter but i lose VPN and cant use GooglePlay.
Any help to resolve this issue?

I am outside US. For me, I enable VPN (not using tunnelbear though), buy a movie, then disable the VPN, then cast. Does that work for you?

Did you change your credit card to US?
Just remove your current credit card, then add it back again, with a real zip code and phone number. Then wait 1-2 hours (at this time mine always show payment denied).
Now I am able to buy music without VPN even. For Movies I still need VPN though. But once its bought, I don't need VPN anymore for either.

I can do all of that stuff whitout VPN but i cant Cast Movies/TV to my Chromecast device whitout VPN active.
Well...
Grammar...
yeah i kinda have the same problem, if i turn off tunnelbear, my chromecast can be detected from my phone, but once i turn on tunnelbear to access netflix, chromecast stops working..... =/
any workaround for this? its kinda the only reason i got a chromecast in the first place.....
Technically you shouldn't expect this to work because the Chromecast has to be on the same LAN as the casting device, and when you use a VPN on the casting device you are putting it on a different LAN.
Not to mention that if you are using the VPN on the casting device to bypass geoblocking, then it probably wouldn't work even if you could see the Chromecast because the Chromecast also has to use the VPN to bypass geoblocking. You would have to set up the VPN in your router so that it affects both the casting device and the Chromecast. You can do that with advanced router firmware like DD-WRT, but not with most consumer routers using stock firmware.
Suggestion
I have read through your issue of concern and I guess you should go for CyberGhost. It was established in Romania in the year 2011, by uniting a strong belief in confidentiality with German engineering to make a VPN that gives an anonymous, sage, and dependable service. It’s really simple to utilize, rapid connections, and variety of servers are just some of the numerous perks underlined in hundreds of positive user reviews. Go for https://vpn.review/set-up-chromecast-vpn/ today to learn a lot more. CyberGhost provides a 7-day free trial on Android and iOS, a Windows free trial, and a 45-day money-back assurance on all platforms. Just go for it as I don’t think so you will find anything else better than this one.

Question VPN not working

Anytime I try to enable the VPN on my P7, I get the message "VPN is disabled. Sign in or check your subscription status." Is there something special I have to do to enable the VPN? I have rooted my P7. Thanks.

You'll need subscription to VPN. It's not free for all countries i think

And you went through all the steps outlined? Specifically Google One benefits page? Perhaps someone else on the account is using the VPN meaning you will need to upgrade to use on multiple devices. It was a really straightforward setup. I'm also not sure how Google knows if you bought the phone or it's registered to someone else. You might want to give them a call or chat online to figure it out. It's not rocket science and one of the easier setups I've encountered.

I had this exact issue.
I reboot resolved this for me
This same issue just started for me, the Google One VPN had previously worked without issue for me, but all of a sudden, I went to turn it on and I am getting the same "VPN is disabled" message. Tried rebooting, clearing cache, uninstall/reinstall of GoogleOne and still the issue persists. I wonder if this is a server side issue potentially with "subscription status" being recognized?
Same, mine stopped working. Same error. It apparently stopped working between 5 days ago and now (last connected) which I think was when I installed the January update.
EdIt: I uninstalled the Google One app and reinstalled, it said I needed to purchase a plan to use the VPN, then later it said it was free with Pixel 7 again and set up the VPN, but then still wouldn't connect (same error as before).
It worked for me on the beta version p7 until yesterday, I'm from outside the supported countries, maybe they blocked it?
Mine has never worked for me ever unfortunately. This is the way it has been since the VPN first became available to turn on in the Google One app.
