(SOLVED) rooting status Unknown/Remote command Failed - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey
If u have flashed FTF or any other zip and lost your IMEI/Service And Major Issue Loosing Root status and unable to flash kernel/recovery using fastboot or flashtool
Rooting Status Unknown in service menu Configuraton *#*#service#*#*
Then you can revert back in two cases.
Case 1
That Worked for me.
You Have TWRP OR CWM Backup of previously working Firmware.
Steps:
1. Install Flashtool & Drivers. If you have already installed,Remove and reinstall. use 0.9.18.4 that worked for me.
2. Follow these steps.
A. Open C:/Flashtool/Custom/mydevices/
B. View The video for further steps and close flashtool folder.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkl9UyrQKSo
after above steps/Check wether you can flash Kernel/Recovery Using flashtool/If u succeeded then Cheers.
Otherwise procede to next step.
C. Relock ur bootloader using flashtool. U may have to try 2 to 3 times if it failed/Check adb fastboot drivers,I tried 5 to 6 times and then it relocked my bootloader. If it is locked, dont unlock yet.
3. Download and flash Kitkat 4.4.4 Firmware using flashtool.
4. Download XZDR From the link
http://nut.xperia-files.com/path/XZDualRecovery/XZDualRecovery_2.8.26 [email protected][NUT]'s for awesome work.
5. Start it and browse for Superuser.zip(Copy to storage),Install Kingroot v 4.5 and Busybox and install to phone.
6. Check root status if successfully rooted then Open XZDR and extract it. Run .bat file and check your phone,Give root permission. your phone will reboot to recovery.
7. Now
Wipe cacche/Dalvik/System/Data
8. Install twrp backup that you have already stored in cell phone.
9. Install Superuser.zip. Again Wipe cache/Dalvik cache only.
10. Reboot your phone and all set.
Method 2
If yo dont have twrp backup.
Relock bootloader/Flash Kitkat and root it using above steps.
One you installed recovery. Reboot to recovery and do steps 7 to 10.
Cheers

I have a similar problem, Please Help me
I was flashing a stock rom for my xperia z3 D6653. On flashtool I unticked "SIMLOCK" in MiscTA Exclude. (<----i think This was the problem)
After that, the flashing proccess started and done without any problem. When i put the sim card in the phone, it says: "Invalid Sim card" and in the service menu says: "Rooting status: Unknown". Before this, the service menu said: "Rooting status: Unlock Bootloader allowed: yes" then I unlocked my bootloader without any problem and everything was perfect, but after that flashing on flashtool the Rooting status change to "Unknown" and my sim card are unable to read. There is no problem with my sim card because I tried to put it on another phone and works perfect.
How do I fix it?
How I change the roothing status back to "allowed: yes"
and how I fix it to be able to read my sim card again?
sorry for my horrible english.
Please help me to solve it, im a noob in this kind of things and i dont know how to follow the tutorial.

Well this definitely has something to do with the TA partition. I also installed the 228 update yesterday which resulted in a non-working SIM, together with the "Rooting status: Unknown" error.
After creating a TWRP backup, I just flashed KK 4.4.4 (.292) onto my device. This however did not solve my problem, as it still showed "Rooting status: Unknown".
I have just restored my saved TA-partition (I made a dump of it before unlocking the bootloader months ago, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598) and this has fixed my problem!!! It now shows "Rooting status: Unlock Bootloader allowed: yes".
So, if you have saved your TA-partition you can try to restore it onto your device. Otherwise you could try to relock and unlock your bootloader, hopefully this will solve your problem.
Good luck

[Q] stuck at boot

Hi everybody,
after reading about how to upgrade & root the Xperia SP on the 4.3 firmware I followed the guides to get everything set up.
Now, after being nearly there I'm stuck with a black booting screen.
Here follow the steps I did undertake so far, any help to resolve my issue would be very welcome.
I started with firmware 12.0.A.2.245 rooted with Doomlords method (flash old kernel, root, flash .245 kernel again)
1 backup contacts/messages etc
2 do TA partition Backup with Backup-TA
3 update firmware using PC-Companion
4 unlock bootloader with official sony guide
5 fastboot flash cwm / superSU
---> everything worked fine so far (phone was operational), now I wanted to get the screen mirroring working - meaning the bravia engine. So I went for
6 Backup-TA check backup integrity with dry restore
7 Backup-TA restore TA partition
last step of the restore was: reboot device, which got me to the black screen - which is where I am stuck now.
All I managed so far is entering the fastboot mode, I could confirm this working by issuing a "fastboot devices" which listed the phone as available.
Anyone got any ideas to what went wrong and how to fix this?
update: after going through the unlock bootloader procedure again the phone boots normally again ( fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x[...] ) . Now the last problem is getting the TA partition back.
Is this even possible while keeping root?
Flash stock kernel .266 before restoring TA partition.
go to flashmode and flash the kernel.ftf, links of which can be found by searching.
this problem has been posted as FAQ in Bootloader unlocking relocking thread.
Thanks! I'll try this. I thought you only had to reflash the stock kernel if you wanted to relock the bootloader

Looking to Root - running marshmellow stock

Just had a problem after using root toolkit to attempt root on nexus 6 with marshmellow. (6.0 ), build MRA58R. After this attempt, got the message that" device is corrupted" and would not boot into system. Luckily bootloader was still unlocked and was able to flash stock image. Phone boots fine now with Boatloader unlcocked, and TWRP is gone, with no root. How do I root from here and install TWRP again without going through what happened before.
In the beginners guide to root, Chanifire's link hasn't been working and I want to be sure I do this right to avoid what happened with the toolkit. Also, my phone is setup with apps and data, and I dont't want to loose my setup.
Thanks for your help.

Re-Lock bootloader?

I unlocked my bootloader, installed twrp and several roms to try them out, then decided to go back to stock. Currently have OOS 3.5.4 installed with stock recovery (that came with the toolkit). However, whenever I try to lock the booltloader again, the phone won't boot up. It will bootloop, or just stay off with the led glowing white. I tried to sideload the stock ROM from OnePlus, but it fails after about 45% completion. I tried both 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 and both fail after about 45%. The only way to get the phone to boot again is by unlocking the bootloader again, then it boots just fine. Tried unlocking with the toolkit as well as fastboot oem lock. Both give me the prompt on the phone, then wipe the phone and go into the bootloop.
Any suggestions on how to re-lock the bootloader? I want to be able to get the OTA update, which I think will fail with an unlocked bootloader. Note, I have also tried loading the Nougat update from settings - system update - local upgade (both full and update) and they also fail to load shortly after booting to recovery.
Thanks,
TR
Instead of using the toolkit, try just doing it manually.
fastboot oem lock IS the correct way to lock the bootloader.
If you're running into all those issues, try to reflash the stock rom from the official site. OR try this
NOTE: This WILL wipe everything on your phone so make a backup first!
First Unlock booloader1. On your phone go into Developer screen (Settings --> Developer Options)
If you don't have this go back to Settings --> About Device. Tap "Build number" 7-10 times to unlok developer options
2. In Developer Options turn on "USB Debugging" and "OEM Unlock"
3. Open ADB in command prompt and go to the directory where ADB is.
Type adb reboot bootloader
4. Once your device is in fastboot mode, type in fastboot devices to make sure your device is listed
5. Type in fastboot oem unlock to unlock your device bootloader
You can check to make sure it was properly unlocked by typing in fastboot oem device-info.
6. Reboot into your system
Files we need7. Download the following files:
TWRP - https://build.nethunter.com/test-builds/twrp/oneplus/twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus3t.img
No-verity-opt-encrypt - https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.0.zip
Magisk - http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk
Phh-Superuser - https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3988488&d=1483407725
Latest Stable Nougat Rom - http://otafsc.h2os.com/patch/amazon...s3TOxygen_28_OTA_035_all_1612310259_2dc0c.zip
8. Copy all the files to your phone (keep the original on your pc just in case)
9. Load back up to fastboot mode
In ADB type adb reboot bootloader
10. Flash twrp img we downloaded above by typing
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus3t.img
11. After this reboot into the system
Install all of our downloaded files through TWRP12. Now boot into recovery by issuing the following ADB command
adb reboot recovery (you should go into TWRP)
13. Once you're in twrp flash the "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.0.zip" file OR you can format the data partition to f2fs to prevent the dm-verity error.
14. Now install the stock stable nougat rom we downloaded above
15. Do a factory system wipe / cache & dalvik
16. Install magisk through TWRP
17. Wipe cache/dalvik
18. Install phh SuperUser
19. Now reboot into the system normally.
NOTE: This *COULD* take a while since you did a clean install of nougat so just be patient and you should be good to go after this.
Thanks for the reply.
I did do fastboot oem lock, and it results in an unbootable system. fastboot oem unlock makes it bootable again. Not sure why. Also, whenever I do adb sideload <any_rom> it fails after about 45%. Not sure what's happening. Your instructions would get me to Nougat with TWRP and an unlocked bootloader, which may be what I end up doing, but I was trying to get back to fully stock, and locked again, so that OTA's will work properly. If nothing else works, I will go the route you suggest above.
Thanks again!
I just figured I'd try to get you to a working system/phone. After you get all that working you can probably lock your bootloader back to default. Now, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that if you have a custom recovery you will need to restore that to stock as well before setting the bootloader back to locked.

I also have the same problem, after the bootloader lock the phone does not start.
I tried with all the possible procedures, also even the rom flash in local and sideload it does not work, It comes to 45% and then fails.
we will highlight the problem, so everyone will know and maybe there is a solution

But of course, you can't relock phone with a non standard recovery. Replace TWRP with the ROMs real recovery and relock will work again.
That's what I figured. Thanks for the confirmation.
Use the unbrick tutorial to go back to stock
This is what i did

I'm sorry, even with the stock recovery but does not work, it was the first thing I did
You can a unbick tutorial. It worked for my OnePlus 3T. Just search up How to unbrick (whatever OnePlus device you have) on Google. Then follow all the instructions carefully. If you need help with it I could try to do a remote session with you. Edit: It will erase all data and you will boot with oos 3.5.3 ( I also had the same issue as you. But I couldn't install any zip with stock recovery or adb side load.

Only if you have modified the phone in some way or another (like rooting and installing twrp) before trying to re-lock.
If you keep it stock, you should be able to re-lock. Or else, just use the Qualcomm restore method to re-lock.
tried this
OK what i did was when the phone was starting and vibrating I push the power bottom and volume down bottom at the same time ,then i connected the phone to the PC,from the panel in the phone there are 3 categories to erase everything on the phone I did it all(1,2,3) and then I put the phone in ADB mode from the control panel in the phone,After that I flash via fastboot the original .zip from one plus for the version 4.0.3 (1.4 GB) ,when it finished I restarted and the phone started normal again,I hope this help someone alse,I was so desesperated:silly:.
I think the problem in re-locking it is the modified boot image. Locked bootloaders don't support those.
re-locking bootloader will getback the warranty ???
No solutions till now

Its three easy steps, no need to use any toolkit just follow the instructions. https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...-3-3t-and-go-back-completely-to-stock.456232/

Unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty on this device:

Once I have root, is there a command to re-lock and later eventually unlock the bootloader again?
I remember this was possible with google nexus devices, there was a shell command (require root) that was able to change bootloader status

OTA update over Magisk? What's gonna happen?

If I have a P9 on Nougat B391, I receive an OTA, am currently rooted on Magisk v14. If I install the OTA anyway? What will happen? I know I will lose root, but will my bootloader be relocked? Am I going to lose any data?
Would like to know what will happen next as I am thinking of installing it. thanks!
there are 2 posible outcomes, maybe 3.
1. update will be successfull and you will lose root, twrp, bootloader can be locked too, but on fastboot it will shown as unlocked, if you cant instal twrp, then you need to unlock bootloader even if there is tuped unlocked.
2. update will fail and you will be back on same build you was.
3. never hapened to me, but are possible, that phone got bricked!

IMO, (2) is most possible utcome. (3) may happen if you force DLOAD and other manual methods.
Better:
1) unroot by Magisk Uninstaller, find the download link in the post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74913863&postcount=1
2) flash from TWRP original stock boot img
3) wipe Dalwik and Cache from TWRP
3) flash from fastboot original stock recovery
4) let it make OTA update but select in the System Update settings to use Full (not differential) update - it will not delete your apps and settings
Of course, you will loose root and TWRP but bootloader will remain unlocked and you will not risk bricking the phone.

Magisk Uninstaller does not wipe your phone.
However, unlocking or relocking Bootloader (from Fastboot) triggers Factory restore

can't unlock bootloader critical and other things..

ok guys so my dad has bricked his nokia .8.. i managed to get Twrp working again. and that's about it.. the bootloader is unlocked but i cant can't unlock "bootloader critical" it says something like " (remote command not allowed)" when i check the device info it says bootloader is unlocked but bootloader critical is not.. iv tried flashing via the ost but it says i need to unlock the critical bootloader..
another problem is that i cant flash in twrp. it says invalid zip file or something...
has anyone got a Twrp Backup they could upload so i can try and get this thing working again? or a zip i can flash via twrp?
cheers.
Did you do "fastboot flash unlock <path to unlock.key>" before trying to execute "fastboot oem unlock_critical"?
Did you maybe have an unlock key that was generated through the unofficial unlock (every build before august 2018) and are now on a newer build that supports only the official unlock?
If you can't manage to unlock the bootloader to critical, get some stock boot image (I have some at https://bit.ly/nokia-nb1), flash that to your active boot partition in fastboot (overwrite TWRP with it), then boot into stock recovery and sideload a full OTA package (which will restore all partitions that might be corrupted). All 1.5 GB files you can see in the OTA folder at the link I posted are full OTAs and will work.
ok so just an update i managed to get a rom on there, i found the right key and did the unlock all over again.. all booted ok, problem now is that i have no signal... i cant send any mssgs or phone calls. i tired to update the smsc. via this *#*#4636#*#*. and going phone info etc, but it says update error, iv also tried the encoded number for ee, but still says update error. i can put the sim card into another phone and it will send messages etc, i did read that i could update the smsc on a diffrent phone then put it back into the nokia and it will work, but it did not for me...
again there was another video showing how to fix this via backing up the firmware folder on rom then replacing with the one that dose not work . but ... i dont have a rom that works lol . iv also tried to install diffrent roms or systems and still the same problem.. i use the NOST tool. to update the firmware
any advice????
also this is his account hence a diffrent account name lol
cheers
