Most stable G906S rom for my wife ;) - Galaxy S 5 General

Hi.
I gave my G906S to my wife last year. I made my own ROM which was based off the stock 4.4.2.
I would like to update her phone but being my wife she needs something very stable and has good battery life.
Please recommend me a ROM.

No longer being developed but based on latest stock lollipop; it's stable and the battery life is the best I've experienced on LP. If you're looking for something near stock, optimized, with some of the bloat removed, I recommend this rom.

I installed Cm12.1 and boeffla kernel for my wife's G900f.
She likes the pink/black themes available and batterylife and performance is good.
No bugs.

Thanks folks, I ended up installing NovaRom_V1.5.5, and now I have to listen to her complain everyday about something ... when I tested it, it all seemed good.
I'll look in to Cm12.1
NaraeWiz V7.3 seems to be Korean.

It is Korean although I have it installed in English, and it's the closest to stock available. Of course, it has the stock Korean-English keyboard which I need - forgot about that - although it can be replaced with alternatives.
If your wife prefers stable, stock TW, you could try @xXx's Barebone's Cleaner: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/mod-urwsoft-barebone-cleaner-t3043479
It's one of the fastest ways to debloat. I've used it in the past on my g906s. Stock LP 5.0.1 kinda sucks though but basically bug free except for the color fade issue.

Many times I've read here that people have problems with either WIFI, GPS or SMS on the custom roms, that why I still stick with stock rom.
Never tried it but I hear the jellyaosp rom hasn't been giving people any problems.

Is this ROM smoother than stock? Or just added functions?
the kernel is modded and some system/apps are deleted. So this rom is smoother, faster and less batteryconsuming then stock.
I've been using Omar's for the past months, until I needed a more reliable phone (for work). Then I started from Stock and Deodexed (so I could have volume rockers to skip songs), Deblurred (took off all Motorola bloatware), Rooted and Patched ADB (for using adb remount, adb root etc).
It's as stable as it can gets. I lost 2-3 hours learning how to get stuff done, but it worth it.
About Omar's M7, it's great! However, it's still under heavy development. The guy is tweaking the kernel, which is pretty volatile. It may be good for you, it may not.
If you want "stability", I recommend going my way: Stock, then make the modifications you want.
If you want beta shiny new features, wait a lil' longer because right now all the XT890 hacker dev guys (like Omar) are trying to get CyanogenMod ported to our device! And they made very good progress in the past couple days. Its coming lol

Don't use Omar's Rom! It's extremely crappy, laggy, slow and full of errors and you will have to update your Rom every two days and get new problems!
I would recommend the Stock Rom,
or much better: PiLama Rom 1.6, It's complete, nothing needs to be done, it's extremely fast and absolutely reliable.
If you want you can also do the debloater from the infiniRom on it, than you have a superswift system which will outcompete highend smartphones when it comes to felt speed, and also you have more privacy without the Motorola tracking apps.

I think Omar has done an excellent job, maybe it's unstable, but it's becuase he's the one that has put the most effort into porting things that nobody else has in their ROMs.
Don't critic his hard work, you don't even know how hard it is. And he's always improving it.

That's exactly what I stated. It's an experiment, you should only install Omar's ROM if you are willing to beta test it. The same goes for the CM10.1 that is coming, it's coming with loads of bugs and random crashes, and the devs expects us to test it and report in the most detailed way to make it better.
Beta testing is not for the faint-hearted.
I didn't download PiLama so I cant say anything about it. But if it's just the Stock ROM "debloated", it should be good stuff. If the developer says it's stable, then it must be. Omar never said his was stable

Yikes. Omar has done amazing things with our phone, and has been kind enough to share. He has many stable versions of his rom, no need to hate.
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
I've tried all of them and so far i can tell you this:
There isn't a really noticeable difference between all the roms, however they do have it's pros and cons.
Pi-llama is faster but it drags battery like the stock
Stock is stable but not very efficent
Omar's rom is fast and with a very good battery life, but crashes a lot
AIO mod is a little bit faster and with better battery life than stock and stable so far.
It really depends on how do you use the phone, my advice is that you root and deodex the stock and see how the phone works, if you want to make a small improvement start with AIO, if that doesn't do it for you go to pi.llama and if you want to have a really good performance try omar's but be aware of the several crashes.
Everyone is making a great job with their roms, it's up to you to support them so we can have even better software for our phone.

New user, some advice

Hey
I just bought this phone off a friend. still in very good condition and im happy with it.
It appears to be stock sony rom, with masses of bloat and clutter, and the battery usage is just average at best so im thinking i probably need a custom rom.
android 4.4.4
kernel 3.4.0
build .14.4.a.0.157
im not sure if bootloader is locked or unlocked.
I would like to get a better rom on this phone with less bloat and hopefully an improvement on battery life, can anyone advise whats best to do.
Thanks.

as I dont like tinkering with firmwares yet, after a few hours of research ive just rooted and flashed DstrikerZ1 Kai ROM 3.2 [BETA RELEASE][3-Dec-2014], fingers crossed it works ok. hopefully can flash lollipop at some stage

What Rom are you guys running?

What roms are you guys running and/or what would you recommend? What are your opinions on them? I am currently using Rapture.. Its not a bad rom at all but I believe its not giving me the battery life I want..
You want battery life go with poprocks rom. Cleaned up version of touchwiz and if you use greenify it adds a lot more.
AOSP i think cyanogemod would be the best, but i had problems in the past with cyanogen so i'm rocking with pop. give it a try.
Project Infinity
I'm running teks tekxodus and it's amazing. At first I was sceptical of all the theme mods done to it since they're usually the kind of mods that effect performance but it's the first lollipop rom I've been able to get 5 hour sot easy. That's also with xposed installed and app settings with my dpi at 480. I'm finally content with lollipop again not to mention the cool themes I can use now
If you don't follow the devs instructions then u can try another rom and when the same thing happens then you have to finally admit it is you that might be the issue. If a dev wants clean install and you dirty flash u can't complain.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Can't go wrong with Poprocks.

I do miss the stock Samsung features, camera and s health especially, but after getting the speed of cm, I couldn't go back lol.
Im just started trying out darthstalker rom
I am using @TEKHD 's TEKXodus N4 URv3.3 and it really is an amazing piece of work. It is a very customized rom with lots of features but at the same time, it doesn't feel customized. Meaning it feels like this is how the phone should have been released which is an amazing thing. If you want to feel like you are installing a brand new rom that is different from stock but at the same time feel comfortable with everything, give it a try. After you are on it for a bit and get used to everything, you won't be able to go back to stock.

I'm a big fan of the Stock Deodexed rom. All the samsung features work great, with the flexibility to run xposed and theme and tune touchwiz to your liking.

I'm currently running Miui 7 on my Canadian Note 4. Runs like a charm and it its a fresh new look and feel to the Android I love lol.

Currently on TEKXodus N4 URv5 for my N910T. Closely waiting for URv6.x to settle down before upgrading.
Running [5.1.1][N910TUVU2DOK2][N910T/W8][N910T3] N5 Express 2.5D. I feel like my battery life has regressed since the 1.x version which was based on the Sprint 5.1.1 ROM, but it's still acceptable. I've been too busy with life to really try troubleshooting it (clean reflash) or to try any other ROMs.

Well there is only 1 ATT based rom to choose from and 2 ports on the 5.0 right now. I am running TMS5 v2.1 and love it. I get great battery life (depending if i'm playing games on the phone or not). IMO alliance and Twi5ted are a little buggie. I've ran both and am in no means putting them down cause they both are great but i guess because they are ported to the ATT phone you will run into problems here and there with them. Here's a link to TMS v2.0. To get the v2.1 you'll just have to ask someone which page it is on because it was never put in the OP cause its not a full rom, just an update.

Awesome, good to know..!! Guess i'll stay on this L5.02 for a bit longer since i just upgraded it two days ago.

Best Rom for Galaxy s5

Hi i am just wondering if anyone here can give me there opinion on best custom rom? I basically want it to be as fast as possible with the longest battery life possible. I am super use to android 6.01 and dont mind having same user interface like standard s5. I still would like NFC and GPS to work along with all google apps. I have the SM-G900I model. Not sure if if my computer is a problem but i have a super old laptop from 2007. It has a 1.7ghz celeron cpu and i'm running windows 7 on it.
The best rom is rom based on stock rom like xtrestolite. Good batterie very smooth its the best of the best for me Now im testing NEMESIS_REBORN V 5.6. Its okii
Debloated, Xposed and rooted Stock!

Best choice for the S5 is a stock based MM ROM, any debloated version with root and Boeffla kernel in my opinion. So you make the best experience and all things work exactly as they should - best camera and audio functions, fast and smooth working and a long battery life. I've tested so much ROMs on it and I always came back to 6.0.1. It's of little use to me to have the latest version of Android when I constantly have to deal with errors and notice that this phone is simply overloaded with it.

Hi, I plan to install the rom xtrestolite that you mention, but I have a doubt, the g900fd model does not appear, will there be any problem in installing the g900f model?, I would greatly appreciate your answer.
I am currently using the official stock rom 6.0.1, but I don't like the application overload that the phone brings

The latest xtestrolite ROM was only for the G900H (Exynos). If you are seaching for a useless and debloated stock ROM for the G900F, try to flash the Alexandr ROM v5.9, see here. Flash the Boeffla kernel 2.5, choose CPU governor "smartmax". This kernel and its configuration tool you found in the latest posts in the very long thread about this ROM, posted by me.
